Cold Brew and "The Ottom" breakfast sandwich. Perfect combo for any morning!
    Ian C.

I definitely recommend this place! In the land of Dunkin Donuts and other crappy coffee chains it's really refreshing to have a great local coffee shop. The coffee is really good and doesn't taste burnt and bitter like Starbucks, or watery and flavorless like Dunkin. Their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. The bagels are really good in their own and then all the fixings from inside combine to make a delicious combo. The ambiance is cool and chill, it's not too loud (for a coffee shop) and there's plenty of seating. Plus, the staff is super friendly and they'll even remember your name. I go here once a week at least.

    Rooibos latte

This review is for their breakfast/brunch. It gets crowded! Food - We had the mushroom filling on a jalapeno-sriracha bagel and this was delicious. The flavors of the mushroom really stood out. Along with the savory dish, we also order the brie and apple crepe. I don't know why but they overdid it with the spices. So much so, that the dish was bitter and could not be eaten. Tea - Rooibos latte for the win - yum yum! Service - Initial order went well. When I walked over to tell the cashier that we cannot eat the crepe all I got was "Thanks for letting us know". That's it. No "Can I make you a new one?", "Can I offer you something else?", "Can I take it off your bill?", nothing. So that's that. Second visit, we went in the evening for a coffee on a weekday and it was much quieter then. Got a butterbeer latte - it's a latte with caramel and vanilla topped with cinnamon. The barista said it was sweet and boy, was she right. A little too much for me. And I also saw that the coffee was flavored with artificial syrup, and was not the house-made kind, so a little disappointed. But this time around, customer service was fantastic - friendly and all smiles. It's worth a visit if you make the right choices and the right people are working at the counter!

Bagel with Lox and the Cowboy Sandwich

As many reviews have stated, this place is always crowded on the weekends. You definitely won't get a table. However, when I have gone in the early afternoon on a weekday I've gotten a table with an outlet and everything. So if you can go during the week you'll be much better off. The problem with Cafenation lies in the cost. With so many breakfast and coffee spots in the area, it just becomes ridiculously expensive. A bagel with cream cheese and lox is $6.50 and the breakfast sandwiches are $5-$6. They're good don't get wrong, but just a little too expensive. The coffee is also alright, but a little pricey. If you want to support a local business this is a great place to stop by and their bread is actually really good, I watch the deliveries for Iggy's and it smells amazing. However, I would also try other spots in the area first.

    Spanakopita Crepe

Great place, that seems very community oriented. I had the special- a spanakopita crepe, with fresh spinach, garlic, onions, and feta. Very tasty! The crepe was just a tad sweet, as I like crepes. Had an americano as well, which was pulled perfectly. Both came out fast. The only change I would make for next time would be to sit in the back rather than the front. I guess Saturday morning to afternoon must be prime time for people going on first dates. I'd rather sit in the back, where the vibe seemed more chill.

Great local coffee shop with delicious food! They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, omelets, even crepes. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, and my husband ordered a lox special on ciabatta. Both were excellent. The one downside is its popularity. It can be difficult to find seating throughout most of the day. So as long as you're ok with taking things to-go, you won't be disappointed!

The service is always spot on, even when they get busy during the weekend brunch rush. (You should count on needing a reservation at those times.) Of course, none of that would matter if the food wasn't also excellent! We always order banana caramel pecan french toast for the group to share. The french toast on its own is custardy and delicious (unlike some places that just feel like dry bread), but the roasted bananas along with the buttery caramel and pecans take it to the next level. The fries are also the platonic ideal of a french fry that always surprise us: crispy, not greasy, and well seasoned, while still having a fluffy center. I often get the shakshuka or the aleppo-style eggs for my main, which are both delicious, veggie-forward, and filling. But the hidden gem is the oatmeal, which is packed with fruit, perfectly cooked, and creamy as can be. Since the food is halal, there are no pork products, and as a lover of regular bacon, I can say with confidence the beef bacon will surprise you with how similar it is! My vegetarian friends also love the variety of the options, and the meat eaters are always satisfied.

The service is quick and super friendly. My friend and I had finished our meals, and the staff were letting us try different baklava flavors they had, simply out of the kindness of their heart. They would just walk up to us while we were chatting and they'd give us more samples. It was really a great time! My Nutella Crêpe was cold but it would've been amazing if the melted Nutella was still warm inside, but all in all it was still good. My friend got a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and funny enough hers was too hot at first haha so she let it sit for a sec and really liked it. Water is also self service here-- another community vibe to it all. I def want to come back for their lunch menu!

I came on a Tuesday before noon there was no wait and the place was half empty. We were seated quickly but waited a long time for our food. We started with the cheesy tater tots. They were good. 4 to an order is kind of small but they tasted good. The cheese sauce was reminiscent of velveeta. For mains we got the gochujang chicken sandwich and the pastrami sandwich. The chicken sandwich was cooked well and large in size but underwhelming in flavor. The pastrami sandwich was spicy but had a lot of flavor going on but wasn't memorable. The waffle fries were hot and crisp with a nice seasoning to them. Served with a big half sour pickle. I would go back and try other things. I can't make a full judgement on a sandwich at a place that specializes in brunch so I would try it again. I think this would be a super fun spot to meet with the girlies. It had a few flight options on drinks that looked interesting.

We were seated promptly, the service was pleasant, and our waitress was kind and attentive. We paid our bill and left without any issues. The following day, I called the restaurant because I realized I had forgotten something there. During that call, the person who answered unexpectedly told me she had been "meaning to call" because a chair at our table had been found broken, stating that "the leg looked like it was ripped off." I was completely unaware of any damage. No one in my party had mentioned anything to me. I responded that perhaps the chair had simply suffered wear and tear, but she insisted that it had been "torn off." The tone of the conversation felt accusatory and uncomfortable. When I asked what exactly she was implying or intending, she backed away from the accusation and stated only that the chair had been left against the wall. For context, the group I was with consisted of four Nigerian visitors -- including two priests, a nun, and a friend, one of whom had graduated from Boston College the day before. I am Caucasian. After I got off the phone, I became increasingly upset as I reflected on the interaction. I could not help but wonder whether the accusation was influenced by the fact that I was dining with Black guests from another country. It felt unnecessary and unfair to single us out over a chair that may very well already have been weakened or damaged before it finally broke. Later, I spoke with my friends about it. The nun recalled that the chair had felt wobbly when she stood up and that she had leaned it against the wall because it seemed unstable. When the subject came up, the room became very quiet. I could sense the discomfort and sadness from them -- the familiar feeling of being viewed differently or unfairly judged. Sadly, this is not a new experience for many people of color, including friends of mine. I truly believe that had this been a group of all Caucasian patrons -- especially regular customers -- this issue would likely never have escalated into a phone call with insinuations and accusations. I called twice and left messages asking the owner, Erika, to contact me. I never received a response. I even returned to the restaurant in person today and was assured that Erika would call me after staff spoke with her directly. As of 8:30 tonight, I still have not heard from her. At the end of the day, chairs do not usually "rip apart" spontaneously unless there was already weakness or damage present. What troubles me most is not the chair itself, but the way this situation was handled and the assumptions that seemed to accompany it.
