Found this place, not much to look at but they have amazing breakfast sandwiches. Very good prices if you make it in before 1030 am. Sandwiches are large, my husband and I shared one and were satisfied. Cheapest and best breakfast we found. Across from Caribe Hilton, next to the mini mart. We stayed across the street at the Caribe Hilton and came here for breakfast. Great Breakfast sandwiches and coffee.

The breakfast was really plain, large portions, eggs were dry. there were no salsa or hot sauce in the whole restaurant??? According to the heavy set cashier, they don't have any hot sauce or salsa! He also had an attitude when we switch our order from to go to eating here when a table became available. We would probably not come back as the food was bland and the cashier/waiter had a bad attitude. If you re going to operate a business next to a 4 star hotel, your attitude should be 4 star or more. read more

Fair fare. Lunch special was 2 dry pork chops, tasty pinto beans, and an enormous pile of white rice for ten bucks the folks are pleasant and friendly. Location is key for the caribe hotel which has been mentioned, but that doesn't help the quality. I'd probably pass next time in favor of Uber eats or even the hotel by the poolside. read more

If you're looking for a quick, reasonably priced breakfast near the Caribe Hilton, this is the place to stop. Rather than pay resort pricing for a buffet, we headed offsite and immediately came across Cafeteria Tropical. The restaurant didn't look like much and is connected to a small souvenir shop, but the food proved we made the right choice. We went for a ham omelette and the french toast and almost had more food than the two of us needed. If you're staying nearby, or in Condado, it's worth the short walk to enjoy a reasonably priced breakfast before heading into San Juan for the day. read more

Great place to go to if you're staying at the Caribe Hilton, as it is right across the way. Good place to get great food and spare your wallet the prices at the Hilton. It's small, basic and everyone was nice. Seating is limited so I took mine to go. Had a simple breakfast eggs with cheese and a coffee. Less than $5!! The place is small but near the hotel. The chicken crisps were delicious and highly recommended. Just wish they didn't close at 8 pm because we wanted to sit down in the restaurant. Also had the pork chop which was ok and the beefsteak was tasty. read more

We ate here the first night of our week long trip. The price was good and there is a good selection. We did have to wait almost 45 min for our food, but it was worth every minute! I have no idea why this is rated with so many stars except for that it's the cheapest place in the neighborhood. It was VERY underwhelming! A hidden gem, staying at the Caribe Hilton hotel and their restaurant wait for breakfast was 1 hour. Took a short walk and found this place. Food was excelente and the rices even better. If you are staying at the Hilton this place is worth the visit! It is very easy on your budget and its great for Breakfast and Lunch. We did takeout every time we ordered because we like to dine by the beach. The atmosphere itself isn't much and either is the service. You will want to give yourself an extra 15 minutes just to wait to make an order, they are very laid back when it comes to taking orders. The food is very good for the most part, some of it is a little heavy, but most everything we ordered was delicious, especially the Fish Tacos Mahi Mahi. read more

Great menu choices. Lunch menu looked good also. Only thing. ....menu was a little unclear, as i thought i ordered a bacon cheese omlet. Instead it was cheese omlet with bacon on the side. Had lunch and breakfast at this little cafe and I was not impressed. Although the prices are reasonable, the quality is questionable. We both had eggs and toast, but the eggs tasted funny and a piece of my husband's toast was moldy. For lunch I had a turkey, ham and cheese wrap and it was greasy. My husband had fish taco and he commented that it was like fish sticks with hot sauce. Everything that we've had has lacked flavor. read more

Like many others have said if you are staying at the Caribe Hilton, go here. Even if you aren't, go here. My wife and I ate here for at least one meal every day while we were at the hilton. The breakfasts were great, she got pancakes and I got a breakfast sandwhich. The lunches are great as we both really enjoyed our sandwhichs. You need to try the Mahi Mahi Tacos, they were perfect. The only down side for some people would be it is cash only. Which was not a problem at all for us. If you are staying at the Caribe Hilton, I suggest trying this place for breakfast or lunch. It is a whole in the wall but they have an extensive menu with traditional PR food. We ate lunch here one day - I had the shrimp with Mofongo and my boyfriend at the snapper (which was a whole fish, by the way) and it was all delicious! Cafeteria Tropical is a nice break from the pricey meals at Caribe Hilton. This morning we went for breakfast and it was delicious.

Right across the street from the Hilton Caribe in San Juan. We needed dinner but didn't want a chain or fancy, and thus fit the bill perfectly. I had the shrimp in their garlic sauce, with white rice and beans, and a small salad that might have been garnish, but with the sauce for the shrimp and beans was tasty. All was delicious. They went to the liquor/souvenir store next door (connected by a glass door) for a Magna beer. My husband had the red snapper fillet, rice and beans, with iced tea. For dessert we split a Tres Leches. All well-cooked and flavorful. You place your order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Staff was friendly. Service prompt. You pay at the counter -cash, so make sure you bring some. All that was $43, plus tip of $8. Well worth it. The only odd thing is that all the iced tea I've sipped in 2 days here tastes like sweetened instant with fake citrus. Served with line slice and mint leaf, but still, I'd recommend skipping it unless you ask if they brew their own. The Magna lager was tasty. We're going back tomorrow for breakfast. read more

We're here now only because while staying at the Caribe Hilton, a couple walked into the elevator and all I could smell was some really good fumes coming from their bag. We ordered the Grouper and Fillet Red Snapper. Instead of the whole Red Snapper, we got a filet, no bones. It was delicious. I tried to go back on Sunday for dinner, but they were closed. Better priced than a lot of the restaurants inside of the hotel. read more

Extremely close to the Hilton Caribe and a fantastic spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Unfortunately we didn't discover it until the end of our trip, but we ate ever meal there on our last day, and my son insisted we return the next morning for breakfast again. The fish tacos were fantastic, so was the whole red snapper. They were very friendly and we enjoyed their hospitality. Defiantly a must if your are staying at the Hilton and don't want to eat the bland over priced hotel food. We were able to walk down and grab lunch and get right back to swimming and enjoying the beach. read more
