First visit. Daughter had a swim meet at UA High School and we stopped by late afternoon on a Saturday. Busy but not crazy, and we found a booth in the dining room. Ordered at the counter - started with garlic bread for an appetizer - it was a very generous amount, very cheesy and very tasty. Pepperoni pizza arrived shortly after. Old-world pepperonis, thinner, slightly crunchy crust. Very tasty! Finished off with a trip to the gelato counter for dessert. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was comfortable and clean. Prices were reasonable. What else can you ask for? They have a fairly extensive menu beyond pizza, so next time we're in the area, we'll be back for sure! read more

Server was very friendly and extremely helpful with the menu and wine list. Had the chicken Parmesan which was good. Not the best I've ever had, but very good nonetheless. Plenty of red sauce with the homemade spaghetti. Enjoyed a glass of locally made Zinfandel from California grapes. It was outstanding! Daughter had the fettuccine with chicken. This place has been on my list for awhile after I heard about it being a kid friendly Italian spot. Interesting set up - you order at the counter then they bring your food to your table. They also have free bread and oil which was a nice touch. Since you seat yourself it's pretty kid friendly - they have a back area where we sat that was away from the other patrons in case our toddler got loud. We started with the garlic bread with cheese. HUGE portion and loaded with cheese. Very good. I got the chicken parm which was also a good portion. Flavor wise just ok - probably would go with something else on the menu next time. The best thing about this place is the gelato shop that's attached. I got the lemon cookie gelato after our meal and I am still thinking about it weeks later. So so good. Didn't quite know what to expect when we decided to eat here on a Friday night. We were drawn to Caffe DaVinci because it had an extensive menu and the prices were a bit better than other Italian restaurants. For starters, it shares its' space with a Great Clips, which is interesting to say the least. When you walk in, you'll notice a counter situated straight back, and a separate corridor with a huge gelato case on the right. You order at the counter, then pick out a seat and wait for the food to come out. I was expecting this to be a traditional sit down restaurant with servers so that was a bit of a surprise. It had me wondering if they switched to this model because of staffing issues with COVID. Anyhow, after giving the menu a good look through, I decided on the Blackened Chicken pasta, listed under the "favorites" section. It's a bowtie pasta dish with spicy grilled chicken, in a cajun sauce topped with roasted red peppers. The highlight of the meal was the self-serve, unlimited bread station complete with oil, balsamic and Italian seasoning. This was a treat, and I visited it more than once while waiting for the food. The entrees took about 15-20 minutes to be prepared. I enjoyed my blackened chicken pasta, and the Cajun sauce was really good. My friend got the chicken fettuccine and she was pretty disappointed in it. I tried a bite and the pasta was over cooked (a bit mushy) and there was minimal Alfredo sauce. Of course we had to try the gelato before leaving. I was impressed with the amount of flavors they had, which made it hard to decide. Ultimately, I went with banana chocolate chip. It was definitely loaded with chocolate chips, but it was very light on the banana and I was expecting a richer flavor. Overall, not a bad joint and it has plenty to choose from. However, it didn't necessarily check enough boxes in my book, so I'm settling with 3 stars. read more

we had not been to Davinci in a long time, but decided to go Thursday 11/07 for lunch. The service was spot on! We realized how much we missed seeing Laura, Mattie and Jordan. As always, we felt welcomed and missed. We enjoyed getting updates on how they are doing. The food was good, as expected; however, we go there more for the service and the sense of family you get from the servers and staff. A cute little corner restaurant. They have an adorable little gelato shop set-up inside. I got their spicy sausage pasta dish. It was delicious and I ended up eating all of it. Delicious. Cafe DaVinci is delicious. This is the same Italian family that operated an Italian fine dining restaurant - DaVinci's Restorante - at the corner of Reed & Henderson for many years. The concept for Cafe DaVinci is somewhat less formal. You order at the counter, help yourself to delicious bread and olive oil, and grab a seat. The servers bring your food when it's ready. Everything is very good, and their sauce tastes like my Grandmother's - acidic, tomato-ey, and not too sweet. Excellent. We especially love the Eggplant Parmesan and Pronto salad. The food is very good. Not sure if I care that you order at a counter, then they bring the food to you. This is a concept that is happening all over the place the last few years, except for fast food restaurants, then you go back to the 60's. I understand it, and it does save on costs. First time here and I'm super happy with my food. I got the chicken parmigiana, the chicken was thick and juicy with a crispy but not overly crunchy skin. The marinara tasted different from any marinara I've ever had. It didn't taste like tons of seasoning and you can tell right away you're not at Olive Garden. It has a very raw and simple flavor. I am italian American from New Jersey and enjoyed many good meals here but yesterday the bread was too soft and mushy and that's not how italian bread supposed to be . I like the classy but not too expensive restaurants like Caffe DaVinci. It's in a good location with lots of other upscale dining and shopping options. The bar has a good selection of wines. It's nice to eat inside or at the patio. The menu is not too complex and there's lots of classic choices as well as new takes. I had a drink from the bar. It wasn't too expensive for an Italian restaurant. The bartender was friendly and offered recommendations. It has a nice menu. The food is kind of expensive for the amount. A side salad is not that big. The DaVinci salad is about $7. It comes with a very good Italian dressing. The classic spaghetti is about $9. It wasn't too crowded in spite of it not being that big inside. They also offer classy live music by piano players and easy listening kind of music. I think Caffe DaVinci is good for getting classic Italian but not paying a whole lot for it. It has good service at the bar. The best place is outside and having wine. read more

Craving Italian, I happened to be in the area for an entire day of doctors appointments, so I was excited to finally try Caffe DaVinci. This is a cafe setting, so you order at the side counter, take a seat with your order number, and they bring the food to you. I tried their Chicken Penne. The Caprese Salad pictures look amazing, so I splurged and got that to go. Brought to my table, looking at the penne dish, I wasn't too sure the portion size matched the price. But it tasted great. The basil alfredo sauce was creamy and rich. The chicken must be marinated in something, as it had an Italian taste. It was good. And juicy. Al dente pasta was perfect. Everything here is homemade! The dish was so tasty, I forgot to get a pic. My tummy is happy, so that's all that really matters, right?! I'll preface with they make their own fresh mozzarella. The Roma tomatoes and thick scrumptious cheese slices come on a bed of lettuce, with balsamic vinegar and oils drizzled on top. It was an excellent side dish for dinner that evening. The finished taste from the dressings was delicious! I certainly enjoyed this stop for lunch. Friendly staff, and a clean, orderly women's restroom. The menu is quite extensive, so it will require multiple trips; you don't see me crying ;) **Bonus**: Cute gelateria inside DaVinci's. Plenty of flavors to pick from. It's so cute and quaint. Caffe DaVinci gets an A+ for wonderful curbside service. Their online order process was simple, allowing you to select a time for pick up. They have a special "to go" entrance on the side of their building, and when we pulled up at our requested time, a friendly staff member immediately ran out with our bags and a portable pay machine so we could pay on the spot. Their menu runs the range of a lot of wonderful pasta, pizza, salads, and paninis, and they also have a gelateria on site, with a nice variety of gelato from which to choose. While there was a lot of stuff that caught our eyes, we opted to try the gnocchi with marinara and sausage and lasagna. They also offer a nice kids meal with a variety of pasta and sauce options, which also comes with a gelato, for which we got the Menta e Cioccolata (Mint Chocolate). The portions were good sized and quite tasty. They did a great job bagging the gelato separately so that it did not melt from the heat of the pasta dishes. The marinara had a little less seasoning to it than anticipated, so we'll probably try the meat sauce next time. Came here for a quick and pretty casual dinner and was very excited about how extensive the menu was and the fact that they have gelato as well. I had never been here before, so I was a little confused by the ordering process at first. For those like me, even though the seating area looks like it'd be a place you go and sit down you actually order at the counter which is past the gelato area. We were helped quickly and everyone was very nice and informative when we told them it was our first time in. You could tell this place was a family place because someone who I assume to be the owner or manager was coming around and chatting with essentially everyone. Something that was really awesome about this place is that there is a free bread area that has bread and dishes to put olive oil in for your table. I ended up ordering the chicken alfredo dish and was honestly pretty disappointed. The chicken was just kind of weird and the sauce was super runny. I ate a little of it and then took the rest for leftovers because I am someone who thoroughly believes that alfredo is better as a leftover...but I was wrong in this instance. I was disappointed when I had to throw it away the next day because it was just not good. I want to give this place a break though as we overheard the man talking to other groups about how understaffed they are and that they barely had any cooks working, so I'm sure with such an extensive menu it'd be hard for everything to be 100% especially while understaffed. Something that made this place stand out though was the gelato and I always have room for a little dessert. I ordered the small Donatella, which was some combo of chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, and maybe something else but I honestly don't completely remember...but it was DELICIOUS. I was so happy that I ordered it and really really enjoyed it. I honestly would probably give this place another shot with their food, but definitely order something different as an entree...and obviously get the gelato again. read more

I've been to Caffé DaVinci a few times, and each time has been fabulous. A friend of mine who is an expert in Italian food recommended it, and now I suggest it to anyone who asks about an affordable higher-end Italian restaurant. My favorite item here is the Sausage Penne. It's a fairly simple dish (sausage and peppers mixed with penne pasta), but somehow they make it taste exceptional. I also like that it's enough food to fill me up, but not to the point of being uncomfortably stuffed, which is a common problem for many pasta dishes. Ordering is done at the counter, and the food is brought out when it's ready. While you wait, there is a small table with bread and olive oil. Definitely take advantage of this - the combo is really good! There is also a small gelato bar in the restaurant if you are up for something sweet after the meal. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so seating may be an issue for large groups of people during popular lunch/dinner times. read more
