I've only been to one other cafe inside of a museum and that one is honestly hard to beat (Kresge inside the Detroit Institute of Arts), but this cafe definitely holds its own. It's located directly to the right of the entrance of COMA and it's truly hard to miss. Its modern design, flood of natural light, and cafeteria vibe will easily catch your attention. FYI - There's also a lovely patio to dine on when the weather is nice. Head to the far back to view the menu and place your order. The menu here changes seasonally, features local ingredients, as well as vegan and gluten free options. During my visit I enjoyed a lovely latte and a highly recommended cinnamon roll. Yum yum yum!!!!!! We went for a work Christmas lunch and everything was delicious and cooked perfectly! I got the salmon balsamic salad and it was a huge portion and I ate every bite! Needed a little snack after our museum visit, and they have an interesting menu. Plus, Baby K saw strawberry milk in their cooler so we had to get that. They have a good drinks selection out there- pop, beer, juice, milk, etc. We got her a side of mac and cheese (there is also a kid's meal version but we didn't need chips and she already had a drink.) It was very good- according to both her, and me. At least two kinds of cheese- shredded parm and little bits of cheddar. No cheese sauce. Good pasta. Very, very good all in all. I got lox and... they were out of bagels, so focaccia. It was also very good, though small (probably more filling with the bagel.) It's all a bit expensive, but really not crazy for the quality. Service was very good, though basically at the counter. They bring the food to your table but that's it. Pleasant space. Lots of intriguing things on the menu. And, of course, handy. read more

I recently took myself for a solo outing to the Museum of Art for lunch and the Van Gogh exhibit. What a lovely way to pass the afternoon. It was very busy, but the tables were spaced out nicely. You place your order at the counter and then they bring it to you when ready. I enjoyed the brie-burger (hold the brie) and a side of french fries. The fries were perfectly salted and the burger had a yummy jam with caramelized onions for sweetness. It has a peaceful atmosphere and overlooks the sculpture garden, with lots of windows for light to come in on a sunny day. Schokko Cafe is the restaurant in the Columbus Museum of Art. For a small cafe the menu here has plenty of options for vegetarians. As it is in an art museum the ambiance is cute and artsy. You order up front and the servers bring out your food. I had dinner plans so I only ordered an apple cider and shared the Charcuterie board which was delicious. I did not take pictures but my family loved their avocado toast, grilled cheese, and French toast. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly! I stopped by CMA's Schokko during my visit. I tried the Schokko club sandwich, the breads and spreads, and a brownie for dessert. The bread was exceptional - the bread was fresh and toasted, and the butter was soft and creamy. The bread came with homemade raspberry jam and it was splendid - a thousand miles above Smucker's. My sandwich was solid as well - the bread was likewise fresh and the pork, bacon and cheese worked well together. My friend tried to order the same sandwich and they seemed to have run out of the club - along with a handful of other menu items. The sandwich came with fries which were just okay. The brownie was solid without being spectacular. Overall Schokko is a solid spot for museum fare. read more

Wonderful place to have lunch during our museum outing. They validated parking (~$7 value). The kid menu is definitely affordable and can probably feed an adult if you order an additional appetizer. I just kept wanting to eat more pumpkin curry soup.....every bite was like, I want another bite. It was very savory and flavorful. The burger on a pretzel bun was cooked just right (thank you for not pressing the meat). The beet fried chips were light and although completely made out of beets, just barely tasted like beets. Great little cafe in the Columbus Museum of Art. You order at the counter while looking at a paper menu. After you order, you get a number and find a seat. Your food is delivered to your table. I ordered the club sandwich without cheese and added avocado for $1 with a side of fresh seasonal fruit. It was really fresh and I was impressed with the perfectly ripe pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries. Hubby ordered the grilled cheese with a side of chips and was equally happy. Options included vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free! It was well located and even validated the $5 parking with a purchase of $5 or more in either the cafe or gift shop. You know man, this place isn't half bad. Prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good. You're not going to get like a slab of ham on some day old bread with a slice of American cheese at a place like this, so if that's what you're looking for then look elsewhere homie. I got a breakfast burrito but it was all like deconstructed and rebuilt with fancier parts so it was like a Theseus' Ship kind of breakfast burrito, but it was good and not too costly. This was a pleasant surprise for a few reasons. I would expect a museum restaurant to be over priced, this one isn't. I would also expect the food to be just okay. This food was good! This isn't waiter service, you order from the counter (very nice, friendly, customer service) they give you a number and go to your table. Then they bring out the food when it's ready. I was waiting on a single table to be cleaned as I didn't want to take a large table since they were crowded. I was curtly told "that tables clean" pointing to a large table. I still waited. This gentleman also brought my food. I thanked him and was overly nice vowing inside that I would break his cold, stony façade. No luck. Oh well. I wasn't there to be entertained and he wasn't really my waiter. My guess: he was accustomed to a needy, thankless art museum crowd and his spirit had been broken. I still left a nice tip on the table hoping to reclaim his cold, cynical soul from the dark side. I got the burger which was juicy and tender. My only issue was it needed more seasoning. More salt. More flavor. I'm not a person that adds salt, ever so I think my palate doesn't crave it but can tell when something needs it. The fries were spot on. Cause I'm 'merican I got beer cheese to dip the fries in. It was flavorful but I would have liked it to be a little thicker. Overall though I would recommend this place. read more

Went today around 2 sat at the large conference like table (we thought it was community seating but were told otherwise-which is fine but if that is the wish perhaps some signage is in order). Burger was very good, Green goddess chicken salad was a little over powering on the Avacado but pretty tasty overall, Waitress was rude and discreetly showed us the middle finger...behind her neck after she rudely told us we needed to move. So I would say two stars because despite the food being good, it is not really an enjoyable experience. read more

Terrible service! Don't bother getting a quick bite to get your parking for free. It took 22 minutes for us to be served French fries. They brought our food to another table. I actually joined Yelp today just so I could write a review of Schokko Cafe. This place is amazing! The food is really, really good but especially, the staff there is amazing. I came during the lunch rush a couple weeks ago and the ladies who work there are quick, pretty, and do everything with a smile on their face. One particular young lady with a bald hair cut was so full of energy and was so helpful in answering everyone's questions about the menu she talked me into the avocado toast and the club sandwich and sweet potato fries and it was all amazing! The food took a while to come out, but it was lunch rush so I'm sure the kitchen was doing the best they could. All in all, I will definitely be back to Schokko Cafe. read more
