3 is a fair rating for Caffe Nero located inside the mall in downtown Boston. I've been here several times and finally had the chance to write a review. Their chai latte was just okay, a bit too mild for my taste. It missed those classic bold spices, so it felt a little thin on flavor. I ordered it with non-fat milk so that could have been a contributing factor. I also wasn't a big fan of their ham and cheese croissant. However, I will try their sausage breakfast sandwich next time I'm in the area though. There's usually a line early in the morning but it moves fast and the employees are quite friendly and helpful. Strawberry vanilla matcha was extremely good. Very strong vanilla, strawberry flavor was a little hidden.

I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Caffè Nero. The café was filthy, with visible dirt and grime throughout the space. Multiple homeless individuals were sleeping inside the café and taking up tables, creating an unsanitary and uncomfortable environment. On top of that, the staff was very unprofessional, rude, and dismissive when the situation was clearly out of control. Because of the conditions, we were unable to eat there and had to leave to find another place. This location reflects very poorly on the brand. Basic cleanliness, customer care, and management oversight were completely lacking. read more

I ended up visiting several different Caffè Nero locations during my time in Boston. This was the first café I visited during my stay. I found each café was a charming little coffee shop, unique in its own way, yet all shared a delightful theme that felt like a cozy library or bookstore. The atmosphere was inviting and perfect for relaxing with a good book or catching up on some work. I really enjoyed their coffee shops and even brought home a bag of their beans. The quality of the coffee was consistently excellent, and the ambiance made each visit enjoyable. read more

Ordered a cappuccino, pan de chocolat as well as ham and cheese croissant and everything was good. Nothing extraordinary but glad that the croissant was fresh and the baguette was good. Inside the Copley Place mall. Glad to see them serve my cappuccino on a cup! Every coffee should be served in a cup if you choose to dine in. read more

I went to Caffe Nero from the airport, as I didn't want to wait for three hours for my train at Back Bay Station. The lyft driver couldn't figure out where it was (can't blame him!), it turns out this location is in a super high-end mall. I saw signs for the caffe on the third floor, so I hiked my luggage up to there only to discover that it was a private coffee shop for Wayfair employees... I was directed back to the main floor to an opposite side of the mall. Good luck! If you do find Nero, like I did against all odds, it's quite nice inside with lots of seating and outlets by nearly every seat. Unfortunately the wifi is pretty much the slowest I've encountered. I didn't get much work done. The cinnamon kouign amann didn't taste bad, but was really more of a cinnamon bun. I wouldn't recommend the ham and cheese croissant, it's comparable to what you'd find at an airport. The iced matcha latte just tasted like milk with a hint of matcha. I wouldn't recommend this location (it's a chain), but I will say the service was great -- no complaints there. read more

Forced to tip before being given the final charge. Screen pops up for tipping and I was told by the guy at the counter to, "Put the tip in first and then you'll be shown the final amount your credit card will charged". Hmmm... I'm happy to tip for table service but I don't usually tip for counter service. Now I'm being forced to tip. Seems kinda illegal so I'll be contacting the Attorney General's office. read more

Take something they call a frittata, microwave it for 60 seconds, and this is the result. Perhaps their pasties are better, but these egg dishes were terrible. We had a vegetarian and four cheese, and with any luck, we'll never have these again! read more

This cafe has a nice ambiance and I enjoyed my time there. There are multiple different sitting areas with a larger (albeit more sterile looking) sitting area with tables next door. The views are nice and there's even a fireplace near the seats. As far as food goes it's on the simple side with quiches, breakfast sandwiches, juices, and other snack items. I've heard the breakfast egg sandwich is good. I ordered a flat white and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The service is nice. This cafe is located inside of a mall, so if you get lost the mall directory can help you find it. read more

Such a cute little homey coffee spot! I had a hazelnut latte and an Italian sandwich. They were both amazing and the staff was super friendly. Second time in Boston and I'm loving it. This location is on the second floor and has a nice outdoor view from the large windows. read more

Awkward location on the malls part for this spot. Some perks to it though. Wide space and floor to ceiling windows on one side so it's a pretty view. I reccomend getting a book and coffee and relaxing by the window. The atmosphere and view butch the stars up for this place. The service at best is mediocre. One day I stood there and employees flat out ignored me. But if I was a beautiful girl I prob would have gotten served faster. I have never gotten a smile and it's always "what can I get you". What ever happened to "hello" or "how are you"? Just honestly feel like their employees really dont care. Their espresso is a tad bitter, upsetting being that's is my go to drink. I do appreciate they have a vegan pastry, it's usually a muffin. However, it is still something as a vegan I can snack on while I am there. Again, i have had nice and relaxing times there. AFTER I got my coffee and muffin. The experince leading up to it was a 2 of 5. Also they need an employee to keep track of the lobby. The sugar/milk bar looks like a mini tornado went through it. It's not their fault but keeping it tidy with a rag wouldnt hurt. The garbage is always overfilling spilling everywhere. I only gave this place a 4 because I hold a special place for Copley mall in my heart. read more

Just went here today and was so embarassed by this rude unprofessional staff. Wouldnt have expected this just walking around minding my own business but me and my wife are never going back to a caffe nero again after today. I had a small cup of water for my dog that i poured into the bin of dirty dishes since the trash can was full. Keep in mind this was about half a cup of pretty clean water. The employee there turned around and sat there yelling at me in a room full of people about how rude i was for throwing dog water in her dirty dishes. I really didnt know they would take such offense to that...but my bad. Seriously. She kept yelling at me and i asked to speak to a manager, who was a gentlemen who peaked over, told me i shouldnt have poured the water in the bin, and that she was right. I guess...im used to getting good customer service and being treated with respect at the following better nearby coffee shops? ...Heres a list! -starbucks in the same mall -jaho coffee shop nearby -capitol one cafe -petes coffee -blue bottle coffee in the mall!! This place is so good you gotta try it. I've been to other Caffé Nero's in the area and normally have loved the experience. But THIS one was downright awful. The ambiance was nonexistent- it was SO INCREDIBLY LOUD, almost deafening. My decibel meter never went below 75 (the sound of a loud vacuum). Staff were SO loud and oftentimes the only people talking! I don't mind a little conversation but the staff were screaming, stomping, laughing very loudly. This got the attention of multiple patrons who would stare at staff when they were being loud and yet it never got quiet. The music is played so loudly I couldn't hear myself think, more like a nightclub than a refined cafe. Quite literally one of the worst Nero's I've been to, and it's in one of the nicer parts of Boston. Unless you want your ears to be ringing when you leave this place, I cannot recommend. read more

Feeling obligated to leave a review... I've seen mice TWICE here. The first time I was sitting at the Cafe Nero and a mouse literally crawled out of the plants a foot from me. I immediately left. out of all the cafes here, caffe Nero sticks out out of all of them. you walk inside, and you see modern decor and kind staff. when we got our food, it was out of heaven. I recommend the pistachio ricotta pie, which is very light, not too rich, and creamy. I highly recommend Caffe Nero. read more

I really want to say good things about this place - the coffee is tasty, the pastries are fresh, and the staff is extremely polite and friendly. I could pick up coffee there any time. It used to be my favorite spot to sit with a book or work for a bit. Not anymore. I don't know why but there is no enforcement against loitering and this place has some very comfortable sofas... as a result, there are homeless bros sleeping most of the days, waking up only to shout out profanities and occasionally expose themselves (right, why not explicitly scratch your butt in the middle of the coffee shop lounge?). I don't feel safe to sit in the cafe area anymore, yet alone leave any belongings and go to the restroom. I got catcalled multiple times and finally after receiving some random verbal assaults I stopped visiting this place. I have nothing against homeless folks, and I would often get a coffee for someone who cannot afford one elsewhere, but being homeless is not an excuse for indecent behavior. read more

So, the one in the mall is great, the one in the common area around the offices is...well awful. I just tossed out by 3rd coffee from there. A couple members of the staff seem much more interested in hitting on customers (extra stamps, prompt service and the like). Its easy, but I'm going to head down to the one in the mall more. This was a lovely place to get some work done with a cup of hot chai in my hands one morning! I wandered around looking for a place to stop for a little bit, and am so glad I discovered this little cafe. It is a part of the larger Copley shopping mall and is located on the second floor so it's elevated above ground-level and actually has lovely views through ground-to-ceiling windows! Overzealous Italian chain new to U.S. (2014) arrogating itself with its own brand of 'culture bbombs' ssuch as charging an extra half dollar for an ounce of plain milk in the already overpriced cup of regular grind aribica coffee. No receipt was ever offered over the course of a few weeks was how the above mentioned overcharge was hidden. Cashier's snotty reaction to my surprise turn me on my heels to tjis tourist trap. I love caffe Nero, especially their espresso drinks, however a few occurrences with the same employee has prompted me to want to write a review. Charlie and Brenda are wonderful and a few other employees who I don't know the name of are fantastic, very nice, and pleasure to see in the morning! I come in frequently and one employee, long braided hair has consistently been rude or unprofessional. She snapped at me one time when I went to scan the QR code on my phone and stated, after huffing and taking a deep breath and shaking her head "you gotta tell me when you're gonna use that". A lot of the time she has an earphone in which would be fine if it truly didn't affect her working though she consistently has to ask questions I already answered, again. She's short with me and I've seen it with other customers as well. I visit caffe Nero almost everyday and I completely understand if drinks may get messed up sometimes, product out of stock, stress or general busyness in the caffe but what I think I deserve and should expect each time is the same level of respect. Respect they deserve as well as I. Most times I do and it's wonderful, though this one employee honestly makes me go to other caffes sometimes. She seems like a great worker when it comes to making drinks, she's fast and knows what to do but I just hope the respect she gives to customers improves. read more
