My party of 9 went to eat here for Monday night pasta. We ordered a calamari appetizer. We all grabbed a piece and realized it was cold. The waitress saw half of the calamari not eaten and my uncle responded it was brought out cold. She asked if we wanted to get a fresh batch. We replied yes please she took the calamari back, more than half of it because there was 9 of us and will all went to try a piece before realizing it was cold. The waitress comes back out with our same plate and says "the chef wants the rest of the calamari back" we all looked at eachother quietly appalled. I responded should we spit it up from our stomachs ? She said I'm sorry the chef won't take this back or make a new batch before he gets the rest of the calamari back. That was it for my uncle and husband they said give us the bill mind you all we did at this Point was order drinks and calamari. I didn't think the chef or waitress should of got away with such behavior and rude comments so I asked for a manager which apparently wasn't on duty but a guy came over to us "Jeff" who didn't seem to care at all how upset and rude that was. We paid our bill left and told them they lost loyal customers. I am still shocked on the rude not professional behavior. Came here for a friends birthday dinner per her request and was not disappointed one bit. Monday & Tuesday are pasta night here where $15.99 will get you: a bud/bug light, glass of wine, soda, or coffee/tea, a soup or salad, entrée, and a dessert. Now...it seems like a lot for a little and that's exactly what it was! This place was packed, from the pizzeria in the front, to the restaurant in the back. We were able to grab a spot for 5 people with no problem after waiting about 5min. We were started off with flavored water (orange, lemon, lime) and cheesy garlic knots *drool*, which gave us something to do as we looked over all of the menu items. The pasta night menu is pretty extensive with many different options. At our table we had two orders of the rigatoni ala vodka, lasagna, fried eggplant, and I'm always a sucker for broccoli rabe & sausage. The table split on soups and salads. They offered three different soups, minestrone, pasta e fagioli, and stracciatella. The stracciatella was delicious and a nice size bowl at that. Everyone went home with leftovers, that's how much food you're given. Then once you think you're going to die from how much food you've eaten, its time for dessert. They offered cannoli, NY cheesecake, Italian cheesecake, chocolate cake, and zeppolis. Everyone had something different and all plates were empty by the time we left. Tried to enjoy eating outside. It customers who are picking up pull up curb side and leave their vehicles running when they go inside to pick up their food which results in me and my family breathing in exhaust fumes form their idling cars. I asked the manager if she could ask the customers to turn their vehicles off while picking up so patrons who are eating outside can eat in peace. Her response " they are in the parking lot". I said it's clearly a no parking area designated by yellow letters that say no parking. Guess I won't be coming back since it's too much Trouble for the manager to provide food customer service. read more

Ehhhhh really?. We sat and ate here tonight; and as we walked by the pizza and into the nicely set atmosphere and decorum of the restaurant, (judging by the pizza and appearance) I was ready to be pleasantly surprised. Immediately greeted and brought some very yummy garlic and butter soaked rolls we dug in. Later I realized this was the best part of the meal. To start the waitress and busboy both forgot to bring me water, and once I got that it was time to order; this process was daunting for some and here is why: a friend had ordered what was clearly marked on the menu as coming with soup or salad and a vegetable, this apparently according to the waitress was not the case (WRONG) Strike two was when my soup, instead of coming out with the salad came out at the same time as my meal; which later resulted in the waitress taking the soup away from me, spoon in hand as she started cleaning the table and packing things up (this was not taken to go.) In fact! when the soup came late and I made a joke about it, the waitress says "it's alright"... now I'm not sure but I don't remember her complaining and me asking her if I can do anything to make this situation better... oh wait, that's her job. Throughout the meal I was happy to be reassured that dinner was good and things were alright... was she serious? I know there are only 3 strikes in baseball but here there are more- Italian food has flavor, Italian food is the most satisfying food available... but not at this place; The sauce if you can call it that was a watery, bland mistake. A consistent mistake though, both the Alfredo and Vodka sauces were lacking in texture and flavor. ... AND when I got back from visiting Niagara Falls in May, I said it was nice but, I don't need to ever go back... apparently I decided to visit tonight; by the end of the meal waterfalls started pouring down from two light fixtures, splashing behind our table and misting us as we payed the moderately priced bill. We looked back at this completely unsafe light which I myself don't consider a big deal on this rainy miserable day, and we saw a spark or two... completely unsafe I suppose, they did apologize but, the night was a wash long before the showers. ** I was a bit harsh in my review and this place wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good... and I am a bit shocked how well this place has been voted, maybe more people are impressed with the facade than I am. Good was great. I had the Italian Wedding Soup and my husband the Pasta figoli. The garlic knots served at the table were very tasty. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with angel hair and my husband ordered the shrimp fri diavlo. The food was delicious!! Our waitress Amanda was exceptional and took great care of our every need.I watched another waitress Andrea working both the bar and the restaurant doing double duty. Both of these girls were very impressive. As I watched another girl stand in front of 3 screens while looking busy when she wasn't. Trying to look busy as she cleaned around the screens with a rag. Caffe Amici use to have the best tasting dishes in the area, I don't know what happened but tonight we receive a chicken parm hero with old dry chicken, tasteless penne ala vodka and dry zeppoles. We called back because the chicken parm was inedible and wanted to receive our money back but all they offered was credit or make a fresh chicken parm. By the time the new order came I was so turned off that nobody even bothered to eat the newly made food. 100$ wasted, do not even bother to order food from here. This review is not based on their food... their food tastes great and quality is always above what's expected. I am however disappointed in my most recent catering order. I ordered two small trays this past weekend for a pre-Christmas party with family. I ordered rigatoni aka vodka tray but requested for no meat to be in it, as i had several vegetarian guests attending. I was assured this wouldn't be a problem when i placed my order. I picked the trays up hot and didn't open them until they were ready to be served, only to find that the pasta had meat all in it. I now had several guests with nothing to eat. I tried to call Cafe Amici the next day to discuss my disappointment but was placed on hold several times and no one ever came back to take my call. They have a huge selection of pizza slices with a ton of different toppings to choose from, they also have many panini's and/or stuffed garlic knot sandwiches not to mention their garlic knots that are to die for! Then of course you have everything else you can think of from an Italian restaurant available for sit down or takeout on their menu. Their chicken Parmigiana and chicken Marsala are amazing and like I mentioned earlier don't forget their garlic knots! Pizza here and counter food is decent. Not the best, not the worst. Food in the dining room, is a different story. It's really not great, and the service was not great either. Our waiter was more interested in chatting with a table about his trip to Africa and showing pictures, than waiting on his tables. Not only was his service slow, but he messed up a few things as well, rushing to get back to memory lane. Took him a few visits to our table before even asking for a drink order. I had the stracciatella soup, which had absolutely no flavor. Needed salt, needed something...anything, just bland. I asked for my salad with olive oil on the side. I received it with a cup of French dressing, which was spilled on half the salad. I had to ask again for the olive oil. My husband asked for his slice of pizza to come out with my salad, as an appetizer. It came out at the same time as the dinner. He ordered a veal hero, the bread barely toasted. The veal was extremely chewy and hardly any sauce, making for an ultimately dry hero. I had the seafood ravioli special, which in honesty, was decent. In an al a vodka like sauce. I like this place! That being said - it didn't blow my socks off. The portions were pretty large - but that's expected. I thought the dining area was beautiful, and the food was all good. I got the penne allá vodka, which was as expected. Sauce was flavored well, but it was pretty run of the mill. Service was a hair on the slow side - which I normally am OK with, but it wasn't a busy night. Those buttery garlic knots on the table were probably one of my favorite things - but that might be a little on the sad side all things considered. I would certainly come back for their Monday/Tuesday night pasta special, as I thought that looked like a really good deal - but otherwise I likely wouldn't go out of my way to dine here; thought their pizza did look good! Pasta night is now $16.99, (as of today at least!) Our server had tables throughout the 3 rooms- main dining, back room and front booths by the front windows as well as the long tall counter. MANY customers complaining re: service all evening from multiple waitresses after very long wait times for drinks, dessert and check requests. 1 manager seemed to be trying to "manage" earlier in the evening. No longer interested in helping around the dining room or care about customer service any longer as the evening was coming to the end. We waited an hour for drinks, soup and salad. Had to ask for water 3 times- more than 1 person each time until we finally got refills. Youngest bus boy did refill water 2 of the times as well as got us bread and cheese. He kept a smile and his humor the whole evening! Waitress ran to check on available desserts before listing options. By the time she finally went for our dessert which was ordered before meals were done - they no longer had cannoli or chocolate cake - even though she checked first! Came home with last picks for dessert and didn't even receive 1 per person. (At home realized we were shorted) 2 youngest bus boys did all they could to help. Other waitresses didn't help, at all, even when they were done with their tables for the evening. They just counted out their tips and ran through receipts. Manager Stephanie said to "call 1st next time and she will make sure we receive good service" - REALLY?!? I guess we should not just expect good service next time unless we actually call 1st ask for her (even though she did NOT give us her name, nor does she know who we are!) While we were shorted a dessert and paid our bill -Stephanie was comfortable chatting & complaining with some of the younger waitresses sitting in a front booth. Neil (another manager) was noticeable later in the night, but did all he could to NOT get involved. Yes, our waitress still received a more than fair cash tip as it really wasn't all her fault. Management was awful, as was morale between several employees. Customers should not be aware of this. 3 out of the 5 of us, at our table have worked in the restaurant business for many years! The delivery staff was prompt on time and made Sure everything was heated and correct. We had this party a couple of weeks ago and are still getting compliments for the food. After saying farewell to a loved one we all decided to come here for lunch and a toast. Boy am I so glad we did because we had a solid yet hearty and good lunch. I also found out that they are no longer part of "O Sole Mio" in Stony Brook and "Buona Sera" in Smithtown. I am not sure if they are still affiliated with "La Scala" or "Olio" both in Commack. None the less Caffe Amici certainly delivered well to my insides. It was decided upon that we'd split a couple of appetizers and then on our own for lunch. We ordered the following appetizers: - Calamari Fritti: didn't try it since I had my eyes on two other appetizers. - Mozzarella Sticks: tried half of one and it was your typical mozzarella stick. - Buffalo Fried Calamari: I'm learning more about myself lately and that is I like a bit more heat to certain foods. This was stellar. It could've used a little more heat to my liking but damn... this was some awesome fried calamari with buffalo sauce and no I didn't dip any into the bleu cheese. No need for that. That's only for boneless wings. Keyword being "boneless" right Christina?Hahahah. Me and boned wings... we do not get along. - Mussels Luciano: Ah yes... the star for me! Although not like Waterzooi in Garden City or Mill Pond House in Centerport or Wild Honey in Oyster Bay. Wait a minute... Roy and Sveta... we still haven't gone to Wild Honey so I can't attest to their mussels but the duo swear they're amazing. But these Mussels could've easily been split with someone else and some crusty bread and a nice light salad. These mussels were so damn good and so fresh that it was close to Mussel heaven. After I ate my fair share of Mussels it was time for lunch and I have to say I still kinda maybe wish the Mussels were my lunch. Don't get me wrong... my lunch was good but not as superb as those damn Mussels. I personally ordered the Lobster Ravioli after going back and forth on a few things. They were good but like I said... since I was there on Tuesday I've been dreaming about going back to get more Mussels damn it. The service considering there was almost 20 of us did quite well. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient and the busboys kept on top of everyone's drinks. My mom gave me a gift card for Christmas after researching restaurants near my new home. The first time I came in wanting to order out and was thrown off that I was only allowed to have one side and miss out on everything else. I returned and was able to get salad and garlic knots with the meal but not the vegetable (I'm not the only one who had issues with this they should be more clear in menu). Any who.. my second visit was better than the first. My server Katie made a perfect apple martini and other specialty drinks. She was very attentive. I ordered the #4 combo to get a sample of a few menu items. The salad was fresh with a creamy dressing. The garlic knots had a lot of garlic n oil (tasty). I enjoyed the chicken and shrimp parm. I typically don't order Veal but it came with combo it was ok and the eggplant rollatine was good but I don't like ricotta cheese on my eggplant. The penne pasta on side as most Italian restaurants make was bland since they put plain tomato paste instead of the same sauce on the entree. Staff always pleasant and very nice. They have the best selection of pizza also! The chicken bacon ranch is out of this world, and my husband loves the spicy chicken slice (I don't recall the name of that slice). We have never been disappointed, and have also dined in often. They have the best garlic knots I've ever had, very tasty, hot, fresh, and coated in butter...YUM!! Definitely recommend for take out or to dine in. Took my fiancé for the first time this past weekend and omg he loved it! We got there early in the morning and we got to see them set up the place. The pride and passion put into their work, the details and dedication... it was a such a sight! I must say this is the type of business you just really have to appreciate their service! I've been here before and received undivided attention and exceptional service. Every employee thus far can elaborate on all their menu options with detail. Very well trained and professional staff. Presentation is fantastic. The food is delightfully tasty! And service was phenomenal in the middle of their setting up. They did not miss a beat. I would give this place a five star for their pizza and most of their pasta dishes. However I am docking a star on their zuppa di pesc (seafood combo with a lobster tail). The lobster was so dried up and tasted like rubber. Looks like it's frozen lobster not properly reheated. They should take lobster off their menu then to serve that crap.
