I come here nearly every day with my dad as part of our morning routine, and let me say I can't think of a better place to start your mornings than here. The staff is very helpful and kind. We always get our drinks pretty quick. I sit here sipping a mocha with a breakfast burrito, watching the roasting machine make some delicious looking coffee beans. In the morning, it's genuinely packed but not too loud. Given the opportunity, I could sit here for hours. Side note: Appassionato is also across from the fisherman's terminal so on sunny days it can be nice to park or walk across and sit with views of the water. read more

Place hasn't changed in 20 years, and I sort of like it that way. I used to stop by here after runs at Discovery Park, but nowadays, I'm not in this part of town very often. But I was happy to see that it was still around. You won't find single origin beans with a story, but you will get a strong cup of joe and espresso that tastes like early Seattle :). The place was fairly empty on a recent Saturday afternoon, and it was the perfect spot to kick back in a quiet space. There is also an outdoor patio as well. Dirty. Walls, floors and counter tops all dirty and not maintained. All things that could be improved via cleaning and better management. Coffee is also consistently burnt tasting. This cafe transported me back to the shops in my home town of Federal Way. Very classic, second wave, homie style with lots of pastry options and Italian style dark roast coffee. I ordered their espresso which tasted like a classic dark roast with lots of body and chocolate notes, and a sausage egg cheese sandwich which had been sitting for three days but still tasted decent. The retail beans were roasted in house and started at $17 for 12oz. There is lots of seating both inside and outside, baristas were very friendly and offered great service, and there's a very beautiful old roaster that was the centerpiece of the room which really solidified the traditional coffee shop ambiance. Overall, this shop is great for just relaxing, getting work done, and if you're craving a solid dark roast coffee. read more

Stopped in for a latte. Coffee was strong and good. Nice building and dining room with a nice window wall for viewing the roasting process. The building had some nice seating areas and a beautiful piano. The exterior needs some general cleaning and paint and a little light maintenance, but still very cool. Always great seeing the owner, Phil volunteering at St Demetrios Greek Festival every year, serving up his great coffee all weekend. Was a pleasure to finally see his roasting facility and tasting room. I live about 25 miles from there, so not nearby that often but was an easy and very enjoyable outing. Really enjoyed my visit to Caffee Appassionato and to Seattle Fisherman's Terminal which is practically next door. Good walk around there looking at the Fisherman's Memorial and all the interesting boats. Nice lunch at Fisherman's Terminal's Chinook restaurant, followed by a short drive past another favorite... Mike's Chili and to The Ballard Locks and old downtown Ballard. It's all close by and a reminder of all that's good in this area. read more

I usually come here to hit the drive thru and everyone is always nice. The coffee is on the darker side but inside they also sell lots of different whole bean roasts with grinding. The food options: pastries, breakfast burritos and sandwiches, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, and I believe a protein box. All fresh and appears made in house. Definitely not what it used to be, which is a crying shame. The decaf espresso used to be as good as the regular espresso, now it tastes off. I drove 20 miles out of my way to bring a visiting friend for an Appassionato Mocha, which they used to make with Dilletante Chocolate's Ephemere bittersweet chocolate sauce, which was what made the drink well worth the price and the detour. Now? It's made with Ghirardelli, which doesn't come close to even holding a candle. I cringe to say it, but Starbucks is better. Also, if you get an iced mocha, make sure to ask them to stir the chocolate into the hot coffee before pouring it over ice. I didn't think to specify and the chocolate syrup was put into the bottom of the cup and not even stirred in. On the up side , the service is cheerful and friendly and the scones are still good, it's just not enough to bring me back again. Farewell, Caffe Appassionato. read more

I've been coming here for the last few years and I absolutely love their coffee, my particular favorite has always been the Appassionato rush. In the past I would come I would always get a scone because they have the best scones but the last few months I feel like the pasteries and scones don't seem as fresh, I'm not sure if they got a new supplier or what's changed but it's definitely noticeable. read more

Really love this coffee shop. The atmosphere is lovely and the coffee-tenders are very friendly & efficient. However, on MULTIPLE occasions, there has been only 1 person working with a line of 6-7 people, PLUS the drive-in window to take care of. There are managers in the back office who couldn't care less. They come out of their office and fill a cup of their OWN coffee and then go back into their office without helping at all. Rediculously arrogant behavior! I find it apauling that the workers there are busting their ass to try to keep up, and the managers just sit back watching. MANAGERS!!! HELP OUT!! It's VERY frustrating as a customer to see this worker abuse!! ...and NO I don't personally know anyone who works there, this is just a customer who has observed this behavior for YEARS. Popped into the cafe after a lunch at Fisherman's terminal. They were out of several syrups and the drinks took a while to make since there was only one employee to take orders, do drive through and make the drinks. The ambience is quite classy and absolutely beautiful. We were the only customers when we arrived, and I really feel like this place would be busier if it was kept a little better and had more employees. There is baby grand piano inside I noticed there was quite a bit of dust on the piano, the shelves and lots of the displays. It was really cool to see the roaster working on his beans through the window. He dressed old-fashioned (newsboy hat and overalls) and it's really cool. Something in me wishes I could purchase this place and take it over. It just needs a little more TLC and it would be crammed with customers. read more

I have loved this place for 30 years, so I hate to write this but am hopeful it brings awareness. On several recent morning visits, the shots taste old and bitter, seems like speed is honored way over quality and the result is a lack of care. Iced drinks that are not icy, missing the order like no chocolate in a mocha. There is a lot of chatter between workers and less attention paid to the task at hand. So happy to find this coffee shop open after hitting a dead end while staying in Magnolia. It has a convenient drive-up window, or you can go inside. When dine-in places open back up (post-COVID restrictions), it has a big space inside to sit, as well as a patio. The coffee, which I think they roast in-house, was good and they have lots of syrups to flavor the coffee beverages. I normally get a standard Americano, but I tried it with some vanilla syrup and it was delicious! They have a number of breakfast/bakery items. I went with a sausage burrito, but unfortunately it was disappointing. It didn't have any flavor and was pretty mushy. Some of the pastries looked really good, though. I will definitely be back when I'm passing through and would recommend this place to others. read more

This coffee shop is like a hidden gem. There is like a patio right at the front surrounded by trees and bushes, so you won't see this place unless you look for it. On a nice summer day, the outdoor seating area is very pleasant, completely separated from the adjacent street by the trees. The indoor seating area is very open and nice, there is a piano in the middle, the furniture are mix and matched and the windows have a unique design. They roast the coffee right there and it is nice to be able to see everything through the windows. The waterfront is in walking distance from this coffeeshop. The barista was super friendly; I ordered a cup of tea, so can't comment on the quality of the coffee, but loved how courteous and friendly the staff were. Loved how cozy and hidden this place was. I dont live close by, so would not be my usual go-to café, but felt really welcome here. read more

Drive throooooough! Need to get your caffeine on the go? This location has a drive-thru window. I never get to use it because I rarely drive, but... it sure is a useful for many others. Since this is the only coffee spot between my bus stop and my office, I drop by here a lot. Usually I go for their coffee or a smoothie, but on occasion I'll grab some soup. Their veggie soup I had one time was quite good. Their coffees and smoothies vary. Sometimes I enjoy their coffee quite a lot, sometimes I can't finish it. Fruity smoothies... hard to go wrong there, but I definitely hadn't had one that made me sigh or exclaim extreme happiness. The baristas tend to be cheerful and friendly. I've been there quite a lot (see: check-in #), but we have yet to establish any kind of ongoing conversation or establish that they remember me. Ahhh, well. Seattles best coffee roaster in town... if you're lucky enough to be there at around 9:00ish, you can see the first puff out of the roaster and that amazing scent of fresh roasted beans being roasted the roaster. The thing is, it's a matter of taste. For my money, these folks know how to roast beans. I make my own shots at home so it's all about the roast. I blend their rich French beans with their Italian roast 50/50 and grind it fine at home. its the best shots in town. Their little spot by Fisherman's Terminal is a joy to visit. read more

This place is way over priced for what it is. They have room temperature, old, overpriced food. No one is using gloves. I work around the corner and will not be coming back again. First time visiting this location. Nice and big interior with Wi-Fi. Under staffed with only one barista having to run the entire operation including a drive-thru. Ordered a 20 oz latte from the barista ($4.15+tax) and was disappointed to say the least. The latte filled the cup 3/4 of the way and when I asked her for the rest of the latte her response was that is how much they fill it up. Barista refused and turned away to make other orders. Pastry was atrocious. Ordered a prosciutto and pesto roll that was dry, stale and bland. Food selection is terrible, especially for living in such an amazing food town with amazing bakeries. read more

Excellent coffee. You have to ask for a ceramic cup but they are available. Food is good. Relaxing atmosphere. The cofffee is roasted onsite and gives a pleasant coffee aroma to the cafe. Parking is limited and can be a bit of a problem. Overall a very nice coffee shop. read more
