I went to this restaurant with 4 friends. We were there on my recommendation. I've eaten there a couple of times and the food was always very good. This experience was terrible! Our dinners were not great but not terrible. As we finished our meal one of my guests began swiping at his head....and a ROACH fell onto his plate!!!! Then another on fell directly on the table!! We asked to see the manager, explained what had happened and he was incredibly rude! He looked at me and said I looked intoxicated! I had consumed two glasses of wine with dinner but was far from intoxicated. We showed him one of the roaches that we had killed. He never apologized, just attempted to shift the attention to me because I was the one who called him over. The roaches appeared to be dropping from one of the beams. I will never step foot in that restaurant again. read more

By far the Best Italian restaurant on the Grand Strand. Jimmy is an amazing chef. The restaurant is small in size but that adds to the cozy experience of dining at Caffe Piccolo . Just absolutely beautiful perfect. I never thought I would see calamari anything but fried in this part of the world. So thankful that I was proven wrong!! Food was delicious. Simply an amazing find! I was just passing through Pawleys Island on a trip to Myrtle Beach and stopped in Cafe Piccolo on a recommendation and was simply blown away. The food was oustanding. I had the pan seared diver scallops as an appetizer, and I can honestly say they were the best scallops I have ever had in my life. All the dishes are original and and the ingredients used are very fresh and local. Highly recommend!!! read more

The service is paced perfect allowing plenty of time to have a conversation and not be interrupted. The food is dynamite! Definitely go with ALL of the recommendations for the evening. This is one of my favorite Gluten Free restaurants on the Grand Strand! They have gluten free bread that looks and tastes amazing, and almost everything on the menu can be done gluten free. They're very aware of the allergy and very accommodating. It costs a bit, but is worth it! read more

I ordered the shrimp special which could also be ordered with scallops. It came with some great sides. My wife ordered the grouper and loved it .All of the food was fresh and perfectly prepared. Service by Amber was exceptional. One of the people in our party of 8 is gluten intolerant and they were very attentive and went out of their way to provide a tasty meal including some bread that was delicious. read more

Nothing but positive things to say about this restaurant. Never have been disappointed, not once! This isn't your spaghetti and meatball Italian chain place. Recently visited and sat outside. I ordered the caprese salad and my mother got the chicken Marsala. Everything was delicious. The only complaint is the service was lacking. Seemed as though one waiter had the entire outdoor area (which was completely packed) so everything took a while- especially drinks. Overall though I would go back. read more

Last week's South Carolina trip brought this restaurant as a great surprise. First time there and the food was prepared exceptionally well. The seared scallops appetizer was moist and flavorful. I love Fra Diavlo sauce and theirs is exquisite. Spicy and bold but not overpowering. I had mine with shrimp, which were large, plentiful for the price, and juicy. We ate in the dining room but there is a very nice tree-lined patio that provides nice shade and ambiance. read more

You will be sorry if you miss this slice of heaven. The chef is from PA and can cook like you can't imagine. Shrimp and scallop scampi, you will clean your plate. Veal special that had a sauce that made you melt. The Caesar salads were perfect portion with a delicious lemon Juice finish on the palate. Dessert, well you better save room! We had the mango sorbet with a white chocolate coating. If no one had been watching I would have licked the plate! We are going back tomorrow. This place is truly a treasure! My husband and my 6 year old son came here while on vacation. My son is not very adventurous with food but the staff was very accommodating. Crusty Italian bread baked fresh for each table so it comes out warm & with tasty dipping oil. We had meatballs as well as sausage & broccoli-rabe sauté appetizers. Both were amazing-- tender flavorful meatballs in a hearty red sauce. The best meatball I have ever eaten. I think I just had the best dinner in my entire life. I've been here a handful of times and usually go with a traditional Italian dish (when in Rome) but for the first time I went in a different direction and ordered the Scallops & Risotto which consisted of large scallops over a bed of sweet corn and pancetta risotto. Amazing food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. My husband and I went there on our anniversary which was in November. It wasn't warm out but not cold either.....our server offered to stoke up the fire outside so we could enjoy the ambiance. It was wonderful, the wine, the food....everything. And the price wasn't overly expensive like a lot of the places here in Pawleys. We live locally and will DEFINITELY be returning! Cafe Piccolo was disappointment. Our server had his fingers all over my food, my drink glass and overcharged us $8.00 for our drinks. There was hair in the bread/olive oil and the Bolognese which was normally excellent was mediocre. Seriously doubt as locals we would return again. read more

After receiving recommendations from several neighborhood folks, we decided to check out Cafe Piccolo for ourselves and were not disappointed. The burrata salad was delicious with arugula, warm pears and prosciutto. The tomato basil soup was creamy and flavorful. The linguine was cooked to perfection and the clams were plentiful. Fantastic! Absolutely unbelievable! I was in Pawley's island for one night. It was the day before Thanksgiving and we were looking for something different (and I was in the mood for Italian). After some Google searching I found a few options and we settled on Caffe Piccolo. it was a little more romantic than I expected which was wonderful. I am originally from just outside NYC so I am always on the lookout for really good Italian food. This was it. I think it was the best Chicken Francese I have ever had. The chicken was so tender and the francese sauce was super lemony (which I love). Even the bread and the garlic and olive oil they give you to dip it in was amazing. We liked it so much we drove back from Myrtle Beach a couple days later to have it again, then I went back on New Year's Eve to have it one more time!! I think I found my new favorite place. Too bad I live 3 hours away. I will be sure to get back there as much as I can! read more
