I've used them multiple times. Installed my hot water heater, heat pump, air handler, etc. Probably spent tens of thousands on them. Then when a unit they installed wasn't working, and was still under warranty, they said it would take a least a week to even visit-very ride about it. They are so close, I can see their office from my front door. It would be so easy for them to help. Called Cardinal Plumbing and they were at my house and fixed it THAT DAY. They also figured out that Caffi had installed plumbing NOT TO CODE. Real problem it turns out. Lesson learned. read more

This is one of the least professional and least capable HVAC companies in the Alexandria (NoVA) area. We scheduled an HVAC tune up with another company who recommended we replace our unit. We called Caffi for a second opinion. The tech arrived late, was in a rush, and said he did not have time to examine our unit or chat on the phone. He told me to call his main office. He said the refrigerant was low, and was very pushy to try to get us to approve adding refrigerant. We googled this and most sources recommend blindly adding refrigerant and instead trying to diagnose who it's low. The tech had no interest in discussing, and said he had to go. We felt he was unprofessional, and we had to hire another company to finally get a correct diagnosis. We try to call Caffi many times but they did not answer the phone nor return our calls. We got an unhelpful and inaccurate email. We won't be calling Caffi again, and we certainly don't recommend them. read more

Dishonest business practices and technicians. BEWARE! Fake astroturfed Google ratings. I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Caffi. My AC was not cooling properly and after the technicians arrived they immediately tried to upsell me on a $10k+ system without performing any thorough diagnostics. Then my blower fan which was working perfectly fine before they arrived inexplicably stopped working altogether raising concerns about whether they were purposely causing additional damage. After spending 3 hours in a hot attic observing them as they performed inexplicable tasks on the central unit that they vaguely explained and sensing trouble I asked them to leave. This company operates with a culture of dishonesty trying to take advantage of people's vulnerable position. On top of this they still charged me a nearly $100 service fee. I strongly advise avoiding this company. Based on my experience, they are unethical, dishonest, and are potentially engaged in borderline illegal business practices. You will leave with more problems than you started with. read more

They serviced me 11 days ago. Was supposed to have a call back about the shower part. never happened. They left the shower in pieces still in a zip lock.The guy came inside the shower cabin without disposable shoe cover. went in and out the house multiple times like that. In addition to $89 service call, they charged $200/hour to disamble the shower. I find it amazing that the invoice made it to my inbox but the estimate no where to be found. Robert from Caffi Services is AWESOME! I dropped a kettlebell and caused a water main pipe to leak in my basement. He drove an hour away to get the part and fixed the pipe good as new the same day. We were so relieved to have the water back on so that we did not have to go somewhere else to live for a couple of days. I can't say enough about the excellent service! Last week I had concerns that I might issues with a possible sewage back up in my home requiring a fairly expensive back flow prevention device. The Caffi folks found room on the schedule and came out the same day to put the camera down our sewer line to the street. The guys that came out were knowledgeable and willing to teach me how it all works and didn't mine letting me watch and learn. Called Caffi yesterday evening for help w/a bad leak. They sent Brian M, experienced and skillful tech, who arrived first thing when they said they would -called ahead as well. Within 3m he pinpointed the source of the leak, captured video showing the little geyser coming out of it... the main problem became how to fix without tearing out my kitchen counter, cabinets, sink, and dishwasher as others wanted to do... He cut out a neat rectangle in the back cabinet wall facing the wall w/the pipes, exposed the problem section, detected the right replacement parts -and made the repair within the hour. After heavy testing all was dry. I was so happy w/the the work, w/Brian's and his associate's Jonathan's professionalism, skill, and clean up. I highly recommend. Sherlock Holmes type digging in ceilings (with minimal damage and using a camera!) and exploring along floors and walls, and they found it. Ripoff city. I called them for a quote to replace my shower. They came out and took a look at it and quoted me $1,400 to replace the showerhead, handle and shower faucet. Of course they charged for the quote just like everyone does. I ended up having the work done by All Plumbing. They did a fantastic job, replacing all the shower components for $700. Service was good. Had a kitchen faucet replaced. Plumber worked about 30 minutes. Labor bill was $500! When we called to complain, we were told that was the going rate. Unbelievable! Faucet itself was worth about $150, but we were charged almost $200. If plumbers in Fairfax County charge this much for labor, something isn't right. My long-time plumber was retiring, so on the recommendation of neighbors, I called Caffi to get a quote on replacing two bathroom faucets, fix a running toilet, and add a water filtration system to the house. The plumber arrived on time and was pleasant. He assessed the faucet situation and the toilet but when we moved on to the water filtration system, we encountered a lot of issues--one being that he wanted to sell me a water softener instead of a filtration system and two, that he felt the need to tell me that most of the things that were still working in the boiler room should be replaced. He charged me $79 for the estimate (which I was aware of up-front). I received only a partial estimate of the quested repairs-but it was so high I called another place and saved 40% on the quote. read more

One word: Horrible. Called to schedule an appointment to repair a dripping shower head. Was told there would be a $25 trip charge and then an estimate for the cost of the repair. Plumber arrived and quoted $158 to replace the handle cartridge (which is only 5 years old). I recommended that he pull the cartridge and examine the rubber washer. Plumber pulled the cartridge (which involved 2 screws, a wrench and 4 minutes). The washer needed replacement, which he did. Reassembled everything and then charged me $183 for replacing the .05 washer. What?? Called the company and was told, "I'm sorry you're unhappy, but he did quote you $158 and got your approval to proceed." Analogy is quoting me to replace 4 tires and then, when the tires are aired up and the problem solved, charging me for the 4 tires. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use them. read more

I was looking for a company that could help me remodel my bathroom. I live in Old Town Alexandria and they have one of their office station 5 minutes away. I came across Caffi Plumbing because one of my good friends Recommended them to me and also because i was so in love with they're new bathroom and kitchen. So i called them up! When the contractor came he was very friendly and very proffesional didn't go anywhere else in the house that he didn't need to go to. He also was very respectful of my belongings and would ask me or suggest if we could move things before he worked. I was just so pleased by the work ethic of the man and not only the labor but my actual bathroom. I wanted everything tiled. I was just so amazed on how good a job they did and how great it looks. I would recommend Caffi. The only cons i would say is that, Yes! its a little pricey but if you want to pay cheap for something being made on your house then don't expect it to last and look Great! When it comes to Home Remodeling and fixing its not a cheap thing and it's better to get what you pay for. Other than that i would call them up. read more

Since I changed my air handler recently, it was only required the check up. Stay away from these thieves. They charged a small fortune to install a toilet. A few months later the wax seal at the base of the toilet started leaking because it was improperly installed. They came back and charged $355 to do the job again. This is an absurd charge, especially considering they did it wrong the first time. I challenged he charges - the answer was "tough". Okay, but never again. This is more than twice what it should cost for this job. Replacing a wax seal requires shutting off the water (closing a valve), removing a line, and taking off two nuts. It's a less than 1 hour job. Avoid Caffi Plumbing and Heating at all costs - they will drain your wallet and do a poor job. Many other companies better qualified in the area. read more

We had a back up in plumbing system which involved our toilet clogging and overflowing into the bathtub in our only main floor bathroom. Now this might not have been such an emergency if I didn't have a broken leg and was completely unable to use any of the other bathrooms in our house. Caffi's came out about 2 hours after we called. It took them several hours of hard (and gross work) and they had to take the toilet completely out and then reinstall it. David was really conscientious and even though it seemed as though the smaller snake/snake machine (?) took out the clog, he went to the extra effort of getting a second larger machine to get all the way to the main line to make sure we wouldn't have to call again in the morning if he hadn't really gotten everything out of there. David and his team were courteous, polite, up front and honest about everything they were doing. They also took their time to really clean (sterilize) and dry everything from the bathroom to the front door. We were really impressed. It wasn't an inexpensive job but it was quality work. read more

My very first Yelp review! Unfortunately, it's for poor service. I've used Caffi in the past because it's so close to my place. After getting a flier, I signed up for their seasonal maintenance plan and was given a four-hour window for my first appt. After sitting home for four hours, I called to see if there was some type of delay. Nope, the guy was minutes away from my house! Except he wasn't. Two more hours later I called again. Their scheduler showed him as being at my place. Except he wasn't. So, six hours of sitting home waiting for someone who never showed up and whose company had no idea where he was. No thanks. My experiences with Caffi have been extremely positive. I had a problem with some of my water pipes freezing then bursting. This happened a couple times and was fixed by plumbers from companies other than Caffi. The last time I called Caffi and there plumber suggested I use pex pipe, a plastic hose similar to a garden hose and which expands rather than bursts when frozen. Since then I have had no burst pipes even though the pipes have twice frozen. Calling Caffi has saved me a lot of money through prevention of problems. read more

I have used Caffi Plumbing for 20 years, but during the past few years the quality of work has declined dramatically. I paid $1,800 for a hot water tank (One always pays a premium with Caffi because they used to have a good reputation for quality work) and now, three years later, every single joint and pipe going into the tank leaks. It was guaranteed for 15 years, but because of the shoddy installation, the guarantee is no good as water leaked where it should not have and ruined the thermastat. Never again. read more

Terrible. Run now while you still have your wallet. Not only did my plumber not know what he was doing, he constantly kept looking at his price guide. Called him out to look at a leaky T fitting in my basement. My wife stayed home for the repairs. When he showed up and looked he said it wasn't the fitting. Said the problem was much further up. Said he will have to cut a hole in the wall upstairs and maybe the second level. Then states it was $245 dollars per hole. Then said he probably needs to take the dishwasher out for $380. Plus another 800 to fix the leak. After all these price hits we decided not to go with them. The plumber kept pressuring my wife to do it though. Was extremely rude to her and talked to her like she didn't understand because she was a woman. Finally he took the hint but tried another tactic. Said well let's take another look and then learned it was just leaking where we said even though he was about to rip out my dishwasher and put two holes in my wall. Horrible service. I called Caffi this morning to have someone come out and take a look at a little bit of standing water in my basement. They said there would be a $35 trip charge and I said fine - not unreasonable at all in my opinion. The guy who came out (Mike) was terrific; he checked out a couple different things, and gave me some options for next steps, not pushing anything overly much but leaving it in my hands. The basic visit for $35 doesn't include anything advanced, and if I had wanted a more thorough inspection (e.g. to pull out my washer and check the connections), it would have cost more, potentially a lot more. But because the water had started to dry up and wasn't accumulating, I didn't pay the additional cost, and instead chose to chance it and see if it happens again / gets worse. At the end of the day, for $35, I have a bit more confidence that it isn't a *major* problem, I have a better idea of what could have caused it, and I know who I'm going to call if it gets worse and I need repairs! read more

Caffi was recommended to us by MONA (Moms of N Arlington). We had a kitchen sink pipe leak. Their plumber showed up on time and seemed friendly enough. He found a tear in the outbound pipe - had to go to Home Depot because he didn't have it in his truck - all told he was at my house just under 3 hrs (including his trip to get the part). Foolish me for being a trusting person - at the end I said let me go get a check because I know credit cards cost your company a lot - total was $739 - OMG - I was expecting $400-500 which I believe would have been a lot of money but outrageous. It's as if Caffi took the high end of what would be reasonable for a job like this and just added another 40% plus just because they could care less if I ever call them again - there are so many other suckers like me in this area that are good for a one time plucking - it's more profitable than building trust and a long-term relationship. I see there are not many positive reviews here of Caffi - unfortunately, most potential customers will not be as savvy as Caffi to google "Caffi Contracting Services" - instead of "Caffi Plumbing" - very clever nomenclature, Caffi - I have your number (not that you care- but then doing things right has its own rewards and you will get yours eventually). read more
