Then my four year old asked if she gave her milk or water and she said "what did you order" and was rude to her.. I ordered for her so my four yo didn't know. Ya can't make this stuff up she was rude to my son too. He wasn't behaving great but it's not really her place and she didn't give me a chance to discipline him myself. Chucks will always be a 5/5 for me. Breakfast here is the perfect hometown local place that will feed you well for a fair price. My go to breakfast orders is always the Jimmy Z on a bagel with sausage and a side of fries. However, the pancakes here are some of the best I have ever had so I had to get those today. Ranch here is amazing too and the fried cheese balls are one of the most underrated things on the menu. I also have to come back at some point to try their deep dish pizza which I've heard good things about. People here are always so nice and helpful as well. Can't beat the midwestern hospitality. All in all, this place is exactly what you want in local diner that you will always reminisce about when you are away. read more

I had a late morning movie at the Marcus Theatre in Mequon and wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast first. The place I initially thought of was closed for the holiday weekend, so I had to look at other options. I've been to Chuck's Place before (mainly for their fish fry), but it had been a long time since my last stop and I wasn't sure if I had ever tried their breakfast. In addition to having a breakfast burrito, which I generally seek out, they had an amazing looking cinnamon roll french toast. Rather than choosing between the two, I ordered both and decided I would only be eating one meal that day. My order consisted of the cinnamon roll french toast and a breakfast burrito with egg, Nueske's bacon, and cheese with hash browns for the side. The cinnamon roll french toast is a diabetic's nightmare and a sugar lover's dream. Not only do you have sweetness in the cinnamon roll itself, it's coated with cinnamon/sugar and powered sugar after it's fried AND you get syurp to pour on top. The first of the two pieces were great, then the amount sweetness started to do me in. I strongly recommend ordering a salty side to mix up the flavor, like bacon, if your order the cinnamon roll french toast. The breakfast burrito was awesome. All of the ingredients had moments to shine and Nueske's bacon has such a higher tasting quality that lesser bacon simply doesn't have. The hash browns were perfectly crispy, but needed salt and pepper to enhance the flavor. Service was uneven. It took a while to be seated because "they were cleaning tables" even though I saw no one cleaning and two empty tables at a quick glance that were ready to go. It also took longer than expected to get my water. The entryway can be extremely packed for those trying to come in and those trying to check out depending on when you're passing through. Not much you can do about that, but just be aware that it could be a little difficult. read more

One bite of their famous cheese balls and you'll understand why they get their acclaim. A half order gets you 5 of these bad boys (full order = 10). The cheese is luxurious, gives great pull and the delicately seasoned batter is expertly crisped to provide the perfect texture contrast to the molten, gooey goodness. Served with their secret sauce- which totally rocks. It has a subtle sweetness. It reminds me a little of Russian Dressing or the Secret Stadium Sauce. Whatever it is, don't be afraid. It's the ideal compliment to those killer balls. Honestly there isn't anything bad here and people talk a lot about their pizza and breakfasts- which are delicious but they also have a pretty good burger. Today we had our two fav sammies: the French Dip with mushrooms and onions and the Southern Fried Chicken. Both were outstanding. Easy to drive past this unassuming place, but this family owned business has a lot to offer. They have a moderate-sized menu covering a wide range of cuisines you wouldn't expect out of a diner-looking establishment. I have tried the chicken Parmesan spaghetti and eggplant Parmesan. Turns out I have an affinity for Parmesan dishes. They were both tasty and even had enough for leftovers. If you're hungry their entree size is plenty sufficient for a single serve and may even have extra to share with other. The side salad that came with the entree was a decent size too, not tiny and just right. A little less than a serving and appropriate for a side. I added my group's orders too for illustration, and I would definitely come back to try the others. Drink wise , they have a basic selection, I did order half raspberry lemonade and half soda water which isn't a typical drink and they were able to accommodate. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I finally got back to try the Chicago deep dish pizza, I'm not in this area much so it has taken a while after learning that they make this pizza. I grew up in Chicago so I have tried all major hitters up until I moved to WI and I have one favorite place for deep dish which is Lou Malnatis, no fear because they are not in WI and no competition to Chucks. I have been eating LM since my teens so it's the bar for deep dish pizza. Ok, if you have never had a Chicago deep dish pizza let me break it down for you because a lot of people in WI I talk to think its thick crust pan pizza which it's not. This pizza is a thinner crust with a wall for the edge to hold in all toppings and built upside down compared to a regular pizza. The cheese is on the bottom, the sausage is a sheet on top of the cheese and the sauce is on top which is more of a chunky tomato relish with a garlic flavor. Well Chucks has the correct look and smell I noticed right away so let's dig in. The pizza was pretty good I have to say for the record and it's almost there, almost. It has the right amount mozzarella cheese, it's cheesy. My first thought was it's tasty with the garlic/sausage/sauce flavors playing well together but it was missing something, Chucks doesn't do the butter crust which is the missing flavor that makes Chicago deep dish for me. The butter crust is the only pizza that I will eat the wall of the crust and not throw it away, Chucks gets tossed. Overall the pizza is good and if you can't get to the greater Chicago area this is close enough to satisfy if you don't want a frozen store version which is out there. Even though it's missing the butter crust everyone at work liked it and I will have to try some other pizzas on the menu. read more

Was visiting a friend who frequents Chucks. We went for breakfast and I have to say it hit the spot. Met Ted, the owner, and he couldn't have been more welcoming. Had a western omelette with hash browns and then somehow my arm got twisted and had dessert with breakfast. The chocolate mousse cake was one of the best I've ever had. It's a family place where the service is friendly and it's easy to imagine everyone knows your name (and they will if you there enough)! It doesn't matter what you order, the food will be hot and the coffee plentiful! It's worth sitting quietly and waiting your turn said take a book, newspaper, cell phone, or watch the people! Even if you order out, stage by the cake display and dream about that scrumptious 7 layer chocolate fudge dream that rotates on the plate and screams out, "buy me"! Amazing, I'm not kidding. The service is very good, but more than that, they're kind. Not "server nice," not "Midwestern nice," but GENUINELY kind. (We love the server sisters, the younger server girl is super sweet, and Ted behind the counter is hilarious.) The food? We've been going there since November '23, and we have yet to find anything we don't like. Specifically, have a burger. Seriously. They're huge & juicy & GOOD. Definitely get the carrot cake, too. Portion sizes are fantastic, too. The ambiance is homey, very much so, very comfortable and warm and welcoming. Dine in | Lunch I came here on a limb after class. Initially when I walked in I was not greeted. I asked if I'm supposed to seat myself because most small places like this do because I was by myself. The tone & the aggression in his voice was already a red flag for me. The waitress after bringing my chili told me there was 2 people ahead of me & I had to wait to order my main entree. I've never been out to eat somewhere & they've told me I had to wait to order my main entree. From the atmosphere to the customer service was dissatisfying for a first time coming here. Great little family restaurant. A friend has been telling me about this place for years. The Chicago deep dish pizza is very popular. They have a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The hoffel poffel is a very popular breakfast item. Tonight we had the baked French onion soup and the deep dish pizza. We sat in the indoor/outdoor room. Our waitress was very friendly and did an excellent job serving us. Great place to get quality food and service! Update: 5/7/19 Still delicious deep dish pizza. Tried the cheese balls for the first time AMAZING!!! I highly recommend ordering them you won't be disappointed! Fried eggplant delicious as always. Old school diner/supper-club"ish" location that we tried for the first time for a late breakfast/early lunch on Friday, 7/30/15. Their big sign in their parking lot announced that Friday "AYCE" fish fry starts at eleven AM. However, we were interested in breakfast food. Cheryl asked for one pancake and crisp bacon. Bang! Perfectly cooked and crispy bacon and a fluffy pancake that took up a large plate (see the pic). Still trying to "low carb," I picked the "Low Carb" breakfast on the menu; scrambled eggs with your choice of two meats. (Bacon, hamburger, ham, links, etc.). I chose a medium rare hamburger and the bacon. The hamburger was obviously home made and very good. Service was laid back and easy going, but attentive enough to keep us happy. Coffee is served in a carafe and left at the table. As the menu says multiple times in descriptions of the food, their smoked meat products are Nueske's, so the quality and taste of the meats is excellent. We're looking forward to maybe trying the Fish Fry next time or, for sure, dinner. read more

Why aren't there more of these types of restaurants? I had a craving for a good club sandwich and Chuck's satisfied! They offer a choice of white or wheat bread and the wheat bread isn't just brown colored white bread - it is more what you'd call a multigrain and it went well with the turkey, smokey bacon, lettuce and mayo. I took the sliced tomato off, will order without tomato next time; I realize tomatoes are rarely good anywhere. We had an order of onion strings before the meal - ask for some ranch dressing for dipping purposes. The sandwich came with French fries that are battered, then fried. Perfectly crisp. The ice tea tasted fresh. My wife had the country fried steak, came with either eggs or mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. She went with the latter. Very good. The service was excellent. There's a small parking lot in front and more parking in back. read more

I've eaten here before and it's always been good but this rating is for their deep dish. Its the best I've had in Milwaukee-area, that isn't from a Chicago chain. Very similar to Lou Malnati's which is my all time favorite deep dish, crust not quite as buttery as Lou's, but very similar. Love the sausage layer, was excellent flavor, with perfect amounts of sauce and cheese. I absolutely love that it's local and close to home, plus isn't as expensive as Lou's..will be ordering my deep dish from here from now on. We also got a thin crust, which didn't really fit my definition of thin crust (Like a Calderone club or Zaffiros) but was still good...that deep dish though. I'd heard good things and it didn't disappoint. read more

Chuck's Place is the kind of place you want in your town. It's always open, it's friendly, and it has great food. Not to be pigeonholed into the typical greasy spoon establishment, this diner boasts some of the best Chicago-style deep dish around. Their Italian sausage deep dish is NOT to be missed. This dense, ewie-gooey treat is one of my favorites all the way down to the buttery crust. The thin-crust pizza special is also a great value. Went here the other day due to a recommendation from hubby's boss. The claim is that they have the best Chicago style deep dish in WI. So we gave it a try. My hubby & boss ordered the sausage & mushrooms. While the wives ordered the Spinach deep dish. We all ordered a side salad & I have to say for a side salad it was large. The peppercorn dressing was a hit! It had the right amount of peppercorns & not too thick. I enjoyed this salad. As for the pizza it came close to the Chicago style. The only differences is that the crust was more yeasty & not the buttery classic type. So if you like the yeasty type you would love. this. Growing up in the Chicago area I prefer the buttery crust However, The crust was very crispy . The only downside is I wish we ordered more sauce for the spinach cause I am not the cheesy type of girl for dish. Decent little place for breakfast. Daughter & I both had biscuits and gravy. I had eggs & bacon as well. Very tasty. Place was crowded, but to be expected on a late Sun morning. I laugh at some of these reviews bitching about coffee. People, they bring you your own pot! And some complain about the Nana. Shes a gray haired older lady that was very polite, she talks to herself a bit, but so what? And my order was fine. She took good care of us. Ill be back to try lunch or pizza too. Prices were more than reasonable. Parking a bit tight, seating a bit tight but place is worth it. read more

Been going to Chuck's Place for years...Breakfast occasionally, but mainly for the great pizza, dine in or carryout...Surprised they changed the hours they are open...quite inconvenient to show up at 6:00 and discover they are closed at 2:00 on certain days, including Saturday of all days. Also miss proprietor Ted who apparently is now their only in the AM. He was always part of the charm of the place. Pizza is great, both thin crust and deep dish...no shortage of ingredients. Always always has great food, great service, and great prices. Food is big and plenty, so don't over order. The owner supports the community as well by giving back. After having driven by hundreds of times, today was the day to enter Chuck's Place. I am always a little timid when entering a restaurant that used to be a house. Today was no different, what to expect? A great big welcome, that's what! The owner greeted us and he is an absolute blast. He loves welcoming his customers and you can clearly see he cares about his staff. That makes for a good visit. It seems like one big family. Everyone seems to take pride in serving you and cares about your happiness. The prices are great. We sat on the stools at the diner counter and had the chance to watch the show. It is a well-oiled machine. We were there around 11:30 am, but had not yet eaten, so breakfast it was. All of their meat is fresh from Wisconsin. They use Nueske's bacon. The sausage is from Jone's Family Farm in Fort Atkinson. This was by far the best breakfast sausage I have ever tried. Two eggs (scrambled perfectly), 3 count them 3! jumbo, custom-made for Chuck's, sausages, two pieces of homemade bread = around $6.99! What? Amazing! The cakes and pies looked to die for. Seriously the cakes had to have had like 15 layers. They also have Chicago style and stuffed pizza. We will be back. Oh and I saw their chicken and tuna salad sandwiches, yes I will. read more
