This is one of my favorite restaurants for 11+ years and I usually only do breakfast and dinner once so I decided to do lunch here. Erika is usually my server and does a great job so I only ask for her section after the b*tch from a previous visit. Erika is very accommodating with my recent request at duplicating a version of the St Louis Slinger which is basically hash browns topped with eggs and covered with chili, St Louis has a meat patty of sausage or beef but it's not necessarily needed in Milwaukee. Today I was getting out of my comfort zone and getting lunch for the first time that would be fried chicken which Erika says is a favorite that I was skeptical about but she was spot on. It comes with a potato side and soup of the day, I opted for cream of broccoli and mashed potatoes with gravy. The cream of broccoli soup was hot and great on a winter day. The mashed potatoes were skin on with ample gravy. Surprisingly the fried chicken was excellent but under seasoned that was moist/juicy with a light crispy coating and very good. Overall there doing something right because I keep back for almost 12 years now and had I have I known that the fried chicken was fresh cooked to order and so good I would have ordered it years ago. read more

Our friends took us here for breakfast during the snowstorm over the weekend. It was our first time dining at Zebb's and it was their grand re-opening after the floods from a few months ago. Everything looked clean and the decor was nice! It did not smell damp or like there had been any water in there at all. They did a nice job renovating after that horrible storm. We were greeted warmly at the door by a nice woman and seated right away. It was warm in there even though it was cold outside. The temperature was just right! Our friends recommended the ribeye as it's their favorite so that's what we ordered. Unfortunately, they were out of the ribeye so we all got New York Strip steaks with eggs. The steaks were perfectly cooked, along with everything else. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The chef even came out to ask us how our food was and to apologize about the ribeyes being out of stock. Halfway through our meal we had to add two more people and without question our server pushed another table against ours to add space and then took their order and got their drinks and food out quickly. This was our first time at Zebb's and it was a great experience. We will be returning! read more

Dine in: The food was good, service fine. But we were charged 2.75% for the convenience of the waitstaff using handhelds to send the orders in. The tax was figured with this fee, we paid tax on the convenience fee. I'm actually offended. This is a hard pass on returning. read more

Deana is the most awesome server ever! When our group of 12 entered Zebb's on a recent Friday after 9 p.m., Deana had just ended her shift. Upon seeing our group and without batting an eye, she quickly clocked back in just to serve us. Throughout, she was incredibly kind, patient, accommodating, generous, and efficient. Zebb's menu is extensive, the food delicious, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Having spent a very difficult day at Saint Luke's Medical Center with a critically ill family member, we couldn't have asked for a more compassionate server or a better restaurant to end the day. read more

Had the 10oz house sirloin and eggs. The steak was cooked to perfection and so tender I had to go back and order it again. Reasonable priced (16.99) considering the size and portions. I haven't dined in the restaurant but yesterday I got a delivery order through a restaurant delivery service. The food was good, comforting and reminded me of a meal with my grandparents. My grandparents loved restaurants like these. My grandma always took ALL of the wrapped crackers and bread sticks out of the bread baskets given to tables and put them in her purse. "We paid for these," she'd say. I definitely enjoyed all of the food. And kudos to the restaurant as they called me to ask a clarifying question from my online order. The cake was rich, moist and very chocolatey. I actually ended up googling German chocolate cake last night to learn it's history. It doesn't originate in Germany at all kids! Some dude with the surname German invented this baking chocolate, and of course, he named it after himself. Then, an American woman in the 1957 submitted a cake recipe using his chocolate, her name was Mrs. George Clay. Her recipe was the recipe of the day for The Dallas Morning News. Sure wish her actual name though. Only reason I gave 3 stars and not more was due to the restaurant's pricing which felt a bit too high for what it is. read more

Sadly, I wanted to continue to love this place after it reopened, but it just isn't what it used to be. We've gone 2 times since the remodel. The prices have gone way up (yes, I know, you were forced to remodel) but the service has gone so drastically downhill that it's sad. We went for family brunch (it was Valentine's Day) and expected it to be busy, which it was. Ordered the gyro and others ordered breakfast food. When it was brought out, she mentions to my husband that his eggs look weird. Why say that? That's odd. They were fine albeit a bit overcooked. But there was about 1/4 the meat I expect on a gyro and the tzatziki sauce was separated and smelled funky. I asked the waitress (I believe it was Amber? Neon pink tee shirt on 2/14) about it and she grabbed it and walked to the back. About 5 min later she comes back to check on us and says "oh, did you still want sauce?" Yes, if I didn't want sauce, I wouldn't have bothered you about it. She comes back out and says "they're all like that so they need to make a new batch". Okay? I guess I can wait. Nope. Never offered. I later asked for the gyro to be taken off the bill yet they still charged me for the drink and soup that came with it (fair, I ate them), but never apologized that a mistake was made. Had I ordered something else, it wouldn't have come until everyone else had already eaten because it was quite awhile between contacts. Alright, fine, stuff happens. Can I have a refill on my soda? Again took quite awhile bc she was nowhere to be found and she snatched them off our table like I was asking her something out of the ordinary. Then returns and plops the drink on the other side of the table and walks off. Just all-around unprofessional. I honestly miss the old staff, but no one would expect them to wait around for months while their employer likely didn't/couldn't pay them during the remodel time. No blame there. But I kinda want to follow them to a new restaurant since Zebb's no longer seems to care much. read more

In a word, disappointing. We arrived, were seated, and ignored for 20 minutes. No beverages, no "I'll be with you in a few minutes" or "someone will be with you in a few minutes." The place was not busy except for two larger families and three other tables besides us, one of which arrived well after we did and was served long before us. But, I get it. Fine, let's assume an honest mistake. So, we asked someone, "Do we have a server?" Response: "Oh, yes, she had a big party but they are checking out now." Us: "Maybe someone else could wait on us?" Response: "Oh no, she'll be right with you. Can I get you drinks?" Us: "Yes, that'd be great. Tea and two waters." Ten minutes later, still nothing. Really, 30 minutes? Once is a mistake, but twice is a problem. Finally, our server shows up and, naturally, asks, "Can I get you drinks?" Mind you, there were probably four or five servers and the place was not crowded. One of the servers was standing by the kitchen vaping. We ordered, the food took forever, the server got the order for two out of the three of us wrong. The soup was good but the grilled cheese and cheese curds were greasy. I prefer family owned places to chains, but I wish we'd gone elsewhere. One would think that after a mistake was made in the first place, a real effort would be made to make sure further mistakes did not happen, but not so much. Recommendations would be for the servers to communicate better to make sure customers aren't ignored, if a server is busy then have another server step in, to apologize and make some effort if remedy a mistake if one is made, and for the cooks to cut back on the cooking oil. read more

The food here is phenomenal!! The outside isn't a looker and the inside isn't much better but as far as food and service... tens across the board! Huge portions, a large selection of breakfast lunch and dinner items. The coffee is just coffee, no lattes, no expresso. The cinnamon roll French toast is huge and not overly sweet. The ham side is the size of a whole plate. I recommend eating here over any fancy place in downtown Milwaukee ANYDAY! read more

Best deal in town. Stopped in for a late afternoon snack and found out they serve breakfast all day . I got 3 eggs, hash-browns and pancakes for $6.99 (with bacon or sausage 9.99) Husband got a bowl of chicken dumpling and got a quart of the soup to go. Total bill was about $25 read more

A welcoming and friendly staff is always a big plus in my book! Dawn could not have been a better server, she was so friendly and seemed to be very happy working at Zebbs. In fact, all the employees seemed happy to be at work. The chorizo skillet and the power omelet we ordered were HUGE, freshly made and absolutely delicious, and the coffee was on point. Went here on a whim late one night. Not only did it smell musty and moldy, but the roof was in some obvious need of major repairs. They put out a bucket to catch the water. I try not to judge people based off of their appearance, but the host/cashier was ungroomed and a bit grotesque. The food selection is wide, but still leaves a lot to be desired. I order the hot plate of fajitas. And oh, it came out piping hot! They brought it out sizzling so much that it burned me. No thanks. I had to slide to the other end of my booth until all of the oil stopped popping. Yeah, why is my food swimming in oil?! Needless to say I couldn't even finish my food. The salad was good though. It's a decent place I usually stop at while waiting for my car to get serviced at the Firestone or Goodyear across the street. The breakfasts are pretty solid, nice omelettes and such. I had nachos once, would definitely advise against that, though. Today I had the Greek salad with gyro meat add on (chicken is also an add on option). I liked the salad! Picked all the bell peppers out and most of the red onion side they were sliced so thick, but that's just my preference. Service is usually really good here, the servers are so friendly. I had a sweet tooth after my salad and received confirmation that the desserts were indeed made in-house, followed by opting for the apple crisp pie. Server listed off a bunch of cakes including a blueberry one with blue frosting, which they really don't need to add dye to food, that's so unnecessary. Just the ingredients usually works instead of unnecessary processed stuff, IMO. So, the pie. It was actually premade apple filling in a premade crust. Ahhhhh... you kinda can't call stuff homemade when you use all premade ingredients and assemble them. I rarely have dessert so was hoping for something nice and fresh, but sadly, it wasn't very good pie. And wasn't really apple "crisp" it just had more doughy crumble on top. A crisp would have oats & brown sugar. You pay the check up front! It is weird the server just kissed the baby at the table next to me... ummmm, that's weird. She's doing extra right now. So.... Before we begin, I want to state an obvious fact....This is NOT a FIVE STAR RESTAURANT...So if you want to go to one of THOSE places... go to downtown Milwaukee and take your chances. But if you want GOOD food, at a GOOD price that occasionally hits a GREAT STEAK DINNER out of the park and puts some steakhouses to shame... ZEBBS is the place to go. Now, Milwaukee is .... Milwaukee. Any city has its good points, and bad points. Zebb's is in an area of Milwaukee that is busy, but "plain". It is a nice neighborhood. But it's not Bayside, Downtown or the "Third Ward". It sits on one corner of one of Milwaukee's busiest areas. It was a wonderful meal in a dated building with wonderful people preparing and serving. Thanks for your Service. Really amazing food I used to come here allot when I was younger! Great place to spend with family. They also have a fancy tomato ketchup that it's really good! The bathrooms were really clean and sanitary also, recommend you to sing a song while you wash your hands! I totally recommend to eat here with family and friends five stars! read more

This is a diner style restaurant that does a really good job with breakfast foods. It's not a fancy foo foo pretentious place and doesn't pretend to be. I have had breakfast there at least 10 times and have not been disappointed. One once have I had lunch (the Milwaukee burger) and it was freaking delicious but enough for 2. The staff has always been friendly to me. My only disappointment is Zebb's is no longer a 24 hour restaurant. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. read more

Visiting Milwaukee from Michigan and found this diner on Yelp - so here we are. The first impression didn't go well as all but one wait staff were outside taking a break (no biggie) and some were smoking - so I'm walking through a cloud of smoke to enter the restaurant. There was no one to seat us, they told another employee to "give them menus and they can sit anywhere." We found a table and someone came over to take our drink order while we waited for our waitress. The table and chairs are very clean, as well as the rest of the dining room, which has some intricate designs. Our waitress (Heather) came by answered some questions and was very pleasant. I just can't gather why soft drinks are almost $3! Bonus: the house radio was all 80's!!!! We may come back, but I'll stick to water. read more

I particularly like the lunch specials. On Fridays, I'll order cod baked with their famous lemon butter sauce. It comes with the kind of mac & cheese that scoffs at the supermarket version. Homemade soups, big fluffy rolls. Best surprise was the very large homemade chicken pot pie. Everything in it tasted fresh. My friend always gets a Denver omelet or the Milwaukee Burger, two half-pound patties in the style of the old Marc's Big Boy burger. This should be a 2 star review but it's the day after Christmas. Let's talk about the positives first. Our server was very nice, the fries were great, and the portions were huge. Now the down side and unfortunately there are some big ones. The food was very bland, the place was dirty and the tables were broken. This was by far the BEST of everything!!!!! Best food, best service, and everything in between!! I ordered the chicken dumpling soup, and a Gyro platter. My husband shared with me, my two kids ordered pancakes and soup with hot chocolate. Ty was our waitress and she was SO accommodating and the sweetest lady I've ever met. I really wished I lived here so I can be a regular at this restaurant. I will be back when I'm here for work, even if I have to hitchhike it. Lol. Swung through for breakfast on the way to the airport on the way home. No wait for a table, and it was prime breakfast rush time. The menu had a wide selection, so it took me a minute to decide. The coffee came out fast, ad I polished it off just as the server brought another cup, thinking that the first may have been stale, even though it wasn't. I opted for the "butchers block frittata", thinking that it would be just what the doctor ordered. I was right. The frittata came out with pancakes, and to my amazement was bigger than the spare tire on my rental car. There must have been 6 eggs in this thing. All of them cooked to perfection, along with the tasty meats inside. My SO had the breakfast croissant, which was just as generously made, with the meals filling our tummies just right. I couldn't have eaten another bite, and I was only halfway done. The server was very friendly, and was attentive without being intrusive. 5 stars to include staff, quality of food, and portion sizing. Diners back home could learn a thing or two from Zebb's. read more

From FIRST to WORST: Used to be a favorite of my wife and I before COVID-19 hit. They had a huge menu, good food and reasonable prices. I went there recently post the COVID shutdown and what a disgrace. The menu had shrunk to a fraction of it's previous size, menu prices are up 20% to 50% but the worst part is not a single waitress had a properly applied facemask, all of them pulled down below their chin and the cooks and buss-people had no masks at all. All of this goes in direct violation of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers Covid mask order. The building is in rough shape and I doubt the carpeting has ever been replaced. Went for breakfast last Sunday for the first and the only time with my brother. The food was good, that's what gives it the 3 star rating. We were all but ignored by the waitress, honestly the bus boy was more helpful. We felt a bit of subtle shade from her. When it came time to pay, my brother went up to the register to give his credit card to the front staff. The waitress approached me and said he needed to pay her, ran up and ripped the credit card from his hand. What rudeness! Who lets their waitstaff run credit cards AND not in an open setting to see what you're doing. I think the next time we're visiting from Chicago , we're going to Omega across the street. read more

Good family style diner with excellent service and pretty good food. You can get an hour of free Internet which makes this a place where you can get some work done, but not like a coffee shop where you can get a lot of work done. The waitstaff is genuinely friendly and helpful, I can overlook a couple of mistakes made by the prompt corrections and sincere apologies. Big television up front had my Cubs games on during the World Series, and the place is open late which is more than a bit unusual in Milwaukee. Ample parking, interesting regular clientele, and a small but good selection of Greek-American dishes. Potent coffee if that's what you need. read more

I don't come here often. When I do, I always get the gyro and eggs. They have the best! Their tzatziki sauce is incredible! It's so flavorful and just yum! The portion is just enough for me to have leftovers and still finish it all in one day. The male host was so kind and personable. I asked for some extra sauce and was like, "You really like this sauce, huh?" I said I did! And he laughed. He said that they make it in house. And he handed me 2 more and smiled. Very nice staff. This is the kind of customer service I appreciate. Some people should learn from service like this. I have never had a bad experience here. And it's right by my house.
