    Strawberry Margarita Mango Habanero Margarita

I was really excited to try Highland House for Mexican food to celebrate cinco de mayo. They have a big bar right at the entrance, however I was not a fan of the music, early 2010s pop, which took away from the mexican ambiance. We got margaritas and chips, salsa + jalapeno ranch (yes you have to pay for them). I got my margarita in a mug, which I was not too thrilled with, but the spicy mango habanero margarita was fantastic. We then got birria tacos which were dry and not super flavorful. The shrimp quesadilla was amazing, very cheesy and lots of shrimp. The staff was great, very nice and attentive, and we got our food very quick. We were in and out within an hour. Overall, I probably wouldn't go back unless I was craving a good spicy marg.

Came in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday and had outstanding service in the bar area even with a pretty busy bar. Server was attentive and friendly and didn't miss a thing. We were able to watch baseball and relax with alcoholic and non-alcoholic margaritas. The food arrived quickly and was very fresh. My Mexico City Shrimp truly surpassed my expectations (I've been here before and it's always good but this was different). It had a great balance of sweet corn cake with a moderate spice in the shrimp marinade. There were 6 healthy sized shrimp and the meal was filling and fairly priced. This may be my new favorite dish here, usurping the steak fajita bowl. It's never too loud in here to disrupt conversation even when it's busy, so this is always a good option for small groups or a meal with your favorite person.

We had a nice time at the highland house! It's always great for big groups and birthdays. The outdoor area is fun to sit at as well. The food is pretty good, the nachos were my favorite! We had wonderful service as well.

Had a great time at Highland House! We ordered the blackened shrimp bowl and the lobster & shrimp enchiladas--both were super flavorful and hit the spot. Service was solid, and the prices were reasonable for how tasty everything was as well as the portion sizes. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and craving something delicious

Enjoyable food, friendly and quick table service and fun atmosphere make this place a great spot to stop in for great Mexican. First of all, the TOGO chips and salsa are a MUST. Their "famous chip seasoning" is famous for a reason. It's addicting! I would have totally been happy just having these as my meal. Instead, I ordered the seemingly bottomless Fajita Bowl with steak. The bowl was huge with a fair amount of steak, although I would have liked a little bit more. There was plenty of rice and beans as the base, and the onions and peppers were a classic compliment. The entire dish was well seasoned and very tasty, making it just as good next day. This is a fun spot with sizeable menu options, even offering non-alcoholic choices. No doubt a local favorite and go-to.

I would have given them a 5 if we didn't wait forever at the hostess stand to be seated at our table and also when she sat us she crammed 8 people in a booth so there was no arm room to move. Other than that, our server JORDAN was on point. He was gracious and quick. I ordered a jalapeno margarita which was amazing. The chili lime quesadilla which was extremely delicious. They give you a lot of food. Their chips are seasoned and are some of the best I have had.

Margaritas, service, and ambience are always great! However, the food this time was just okay for the price. The rice and beans were extremely plain, and the rice was a bit undercooked on this visit. This isn't my first time here -- I've been coming for years -- and I've found that some dishes are definitely better than others. Last night was my kids' first time; one ordered the Birria taco and the other got the cheeseburger (the one with the egg and bacon), but unfortunately neither of them enjoyed their meals.

Happy early 81st birthday, my friend! May you have many more!

Cinco de Mayo with a friend was fun at Highland House. We kept it simple with margaritas and appetizers but the service was good and the food was fabulous. We decided at the last minute to do drinks and apps for dinner. My friend hadn't been to Highland House before so I treated as an early 81st birthday since I'll be out of town on her big day. I always take her out for margaritas on her birthday so I did it early this year! We really enjoyed the food and drinks. We had fun watching people and talking about our community events. It was a great last minute celebration! The food was plentiful -- we both had leftovers! She enjoyed the Trio with salsa instead of the ranch and I ordered wings. We shared the apps between us. I had a frozen mango margarita and she had a frozen raspberry one. They were YUMMY! We both want to come back and try the fajitas. She loves fajitas. I've never had one. I sure hope they're good. She is a tough one to please. We don't call her the, "Spicy Taco" for nothing! The Highland House better be ready!

    Fajita Bowl

Been here multiple times, it is a nice atmosphere but very eh food. Good portions though, many better Mexican places you can go to around. Food if you have no where else to go and the menu is nice with a lot of options. I got the fajita bowl this time which was pretty flavorless and had like almost no meat in it at all which was very disappointing. Usually the normal fajitas are solid just expensive.

We recently had a really nice time at Highland House! It was my first time visiting in ages, so I was excited to return. It was a last minute idea on a Friday night, so I was worried we might not get a table (four adults and three kids), but I forgot how massive this place is... so many tables! That being said, the place was super busy but we still got seated right away. I'm a big fan of their back patio. It's vast, and also really private, so it feels like you're in a little oasis back there. Especially with all of the colorful walls and chairs, the pergola-style overhangs, and fun music. We were quickly greeted by our very sweet server who grabbed us all waters, kids menus, and margaritas right away! For the kiddos, we ordered a quesadilla and chicken tenders right away for them to share. We wanted something to snack on ourselves, so our server recommended the dip trio - yum, just what we needed! Out came a basket of season tortilla chips paired with chunky guac, queso and a jalapeño ranch or sorts. It was a great app to have with the (massive) margaritas that came to the table. Let me tell ya, you get the bang for your buck with these, and they're so refreshing. Their food menu is massive, so I was having a tough time trying to decide. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, salads, sammies, burgers... you name it! Something about the fish tacos were speaking to me though so I went with with blackened Mahi Mahi. I have to admit, didn't love the fish itself. It was really pretty dry, so I was bummed! But loved the fresh avocado and cilantro-chipotle aioli on top. The plate came with plenty of other food on it, including a seasoned rice, nicely flavored corn, refried beans and cabbage. All of that had me satisfied! All in all, we'll no doubt return to this great north shore restaurant. It's great for families, a date night, or a meal with friends!

    Baja steak bowl

Came in honestly because there's not a lot of other options in the area, and I hadn't been in years. It was basically empty when we got there at 3, but was crowded at the bar when we left at 4:30pm. Our server checked in on us multiple times, and the food was quick. Definitely surprising that they don't give free chips & salsa like I remember them doing years ago. We instead ordered the dip trio-- queso, guac, and jalapeño ranch. The ranch felt really random.. is there no salsa in this place? The guac and queso were GREAT. My Nana just got a Caesar salad, you can see from the photo just how massive the portions are here. I ordered the Baja steak bowl and it was delicious. I enjoyed the combination of flavors like the pickled onions, corn salsa, and the avocado cream sauce. I ended up using the guac & jalapeño ranch from the app on top and it enhanced the taste even more. We both had leftovers and left feeling happy. This experience was more than I expected from them!

With a lot of variety and friendly service, this definitely is a great go-to place. My Mom and I came here for a light dinner and ordered the crab cake and mussels appetizers as our entrees. Thinking that wouldn't be enough food, we added the arugula beet salad. Everything came out pretty quickly, and the mussels portion and salad were enormous. Each dish was excellent. The mussels, a recommendation by our helpful server, were especially good - the mussels were cooked perfectly, without an unopened mussel in the bunch, and the white wine-garlic-fennel broth was seasoned well and had the classic flavor I was hoping for. The only miss was that the bread provided was only barely toasted and a little chewy. The salad was a wonderful surprise: dressed properly with a nice vinaigrette, it had toasted pepitas, creamy goat cheese, fennel, and beets that were not overly earthy. My Mom enjoyed her crab cakes, which had a bit of a spicy kick. I wanted a little dessert and chose their Door County cherry ice cream. I would strongly recommend leaving room for it. It had a fantastic, creamy texture, tasting homemade. The ice cream itself had a natural flavor of almonds with a hint of cherry, was studded with dark chocolate and cherry pieces, and topped with a cute fish-shaped cookie. One of the best ice creams I've had. Like the food portions, it came as three big scoops, so it's good for sharing. The atmosphere is casual and fun, though be prepared for a pretty high noise level when it's full - not from music, but from everyone having a great time with friends and family. I'd recommend getting a reservation, and they're conveniently on OpenTable.
