I had brunch here this past Sunday with a few friends, and once again Café Noir did not disappoint! While it's a kosher dairy restaurant (no meat is served), they offer an excellent selection of breakfast, lunch, fish, and sushi. Even if you don't keep kosher, it's absolutely worth a visit because the food is delicious and the presentation is beautiful. I ordered the Breakfast for Two (about $38), which was an incredible value. It included cappuccinos, fresh orange juice, three eggs per person, a croissant, your choice of a baguette or multigrain bread, individual salads, and an impressive tower of spreads including tuna salad, feta, olives, pickles, and more. Everything was fresh, plentiful, and beautifully presented. One of my friends ordered the Eggs Benedict. It normally comes with smoked salmon, but the staff was happy to accommodate her request to substitute mushrooms instead, which we really appreciated. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating--we chose to sit inside since it was a hot South Florida morning. One fun touch was that the menu was displayed on an iPad, which made browsing the extensive menu easy and interactive. If you're looking for a wonderful brunch or lunch spot with fresh, high-quality food, generous portions, and excellent service, I highly recommend Café Noir. Looking for an upscale kosher spot, with lounge party vibes. This is that spot! Finally tried this spot out because I've heard great things. We went on a Monday night around 7pm and it was packed. We sat at the bar and got served right away. The ambience is dark light, music and sparkles for birthdays. The waitresses at the bar were friendly and tentative. The menu is unique, especially being a dairy kosher spot. We tried the spicy tuna roll to start which was fresh. My mom got the salmon Asian salad, which came out before my main meal, which was kinda annoying since she had majority of her meal by the time I got mine, but I got the baked ziti and it came steaming hot! I kid you not it was steaming for a good 5-10 minutes but I really love this dish. Highly recommend for pasta lovers. Prices are higher per usual for a kosher spot but definitely worth a visit. We had a great dining experience here! The food was excellent, and we especially enjoyed the sushi--it was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance that made the meal even more enjoyable. Service was decent despite how busy the restaurant was. I don't know how we got a table on a Saturday night without a reservation, but even so I only catch your waiter once to order, and then won't see them again. Ill start this off by saying park in the back. The front area has a lot of "parking for [] only" and is always full anyway. Just park back and walk through the outside pathway to get to the front. That being said, we were lucky for the rain cause last time we tried going to this place even the back was packed. This time we had a spot and got in. I want to start the actual review with the service and odd vibes that happened. The service was very slow and we found ourselves either waiting a long time or doing something ourselves to not have to wait. It started from the moment we were seated. We were left alone not given water or anything for a super long time. When we finally had our waitress arrive we were just ready to order everything at once. The odd vibe thing that happened was that at some point (I think it was before we got our food) someone who worked there with a professional camera asked for a photo. We declined and noticed after the person didnt ask anyone else. We made a joke about how it was probably so we can be a token lgbtq customers, but im thinking maybe its because we were in our running clothes so stood out compared to others (most folks there were either dressed less casual or at least were wearing jeans or something). Either way it was weird mainly because we didnt see her ask anyone else. The food arrived a bit out of order (we got our entrees first) but im assuming its cause they probably have two different kitchens (they have a huge array of food types). We ordered sushi and this is where I became my own server and got up to get the chopsticks near one of the kitchens. We also asked a server for water since through the time of the food arriving (we basically were done with our entrees by the time the sushi and specialty roll showed up) our waitress disappeared. She reappeared with the water after the server told her (though it did take long from the time we asked the server). Once we were done fully, our waitress disappeared again. Most of the time she was at a table with other waitresses talking. I want to note there was another couple seated near us who were seated after us (we had ordered by the time they sat) and they had the same waitress but got food way quicker and I feel the only reason the waitress checked up on us is cause when she checked on them, we flagged her down to ask for boxes to go and the check. My partner ended up having to go to the sushi area to ask for a bigger box since the waitress gave us two small ones and the other half of my baguette caprese didnt fit in it. The guys at the sushi area gave her a odd stare when she asked. The only saving grace to this place is that the food is good. I really liked my sandwich and the rice with avocado. Didn't like the salmon roll cause it was too fishy but thats a personal taste thing as my partner liked it. I would say if you come here order take out and ignore anyone staring at you like you dont belong. But I would definitely not eat in again. read more

Had an amazing experience at Cafe Noir. The malawich and shakshuka were absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The tuna salad was also excellent and definitely worth ordering. The restaurant was very clean, the service was great, and everyone was welcoming and attentive. As someone who lives in Atlanta, I don't get quality kosher food like this very often, so it was such a nice treat to come here and enjoy such a great meal. We went to Cafe Noir right after landing in Florida and it ended up being such a lovely surprise. We didn't have a reservation and the indoor tables were fully booked, but they sat us outside and immediately brought out heat lamps that made it cozy even though it was pretty chilly. They also brought waters right away, and I loved that the menus were on iPads but some were dead. We started with two salads the sweet potato salad and the Greek salad and the sweet potato salad was definitely the standout. Everything tasted really fresh: romaine, mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, and feta. The crispy sweet potato on top was SO good and honestly a little addictive. For mains, I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was a bit overcooked, but the batter was light and flaky, and it came with thick fries, tartar sauce, and coleslaw, which was classic but tasty. I also tried the pesto gnocchi, which I actually liked even more. The sauce had a rich, nutty flavor, and the Parmesan melted beautifully into it. The stir-fry was more on the average side and the salmon in it wasn't anything special. Dessert good. we tried the Ferrero dessert, the chocolate soufflé, and the panna cotta. The chocolate soufflé was easily the winner: warm, rich, and gooey, with vanilla bean ice cream that balanced it perfectly. This cafe is located in the same plaza as the Florentin bakery I felt like I had to also give it a try. When I entered, the ambiance was steadfast modern with black and gray color scheme with thin lined tables. The full liquor and barista bar was also modern and flowed perfectly with the rest of the restaurant ambiance. Sat at the bar and the staff was attentive and personable. They offer kosher Austrian espresso, which I have never tried until now. The taste was smooth and extremely strong which I cut with sugar and cream. They have a large outside patio which was full of customers. The interior seemed more of a high-end dinner space. Not a bad place at all. We ordered pasta, which was good, and the pizza was tasty too. The only thing is the crust could've been a bit firmer--since the center was a little soggy, it was hard to eat without a fork. The Greek salad was flavorful, though one of the olives still had a pit, and my husband almost chipped a tooth. That's likely not the restaurant's fault--they probably use pre-pitted olives and one just slipped through from the supplier. Service was pleasant and friendly. We sat outside, which was a nice shaded area and well-covered in case of rain. The only downside was the number of flies--we had to keep covering our food. Went to cafe noir yesterday evening and found the management of the restaurant to be overwhelmed and incapable of handling the size of the crowd. I had reservations for a party of 5 for 8:45pm. I was not seated until after 9:30pm and not before several words were exchanged with the manager. The air in the place where i was seated was saturated with very loud music and filled with clouds of cigarette smoke. The lamp on the table must have been powered off a 2-volt battery as I literally could not see the food I was eating. Delicious kosher chalavi. Came for breakfast during the week found out they finish serving at 12. We ordered some light lunch options-- the avocado eggrolls, split pea soup, the crunchy salad and a the blackened mahi mahi. Everything was perfect. I added a grouper to the salad which was cooked perfectly. The avocado egg rolls were so flavorful and the sauces they came with paired perfectly together. Service is fast and good. Forget the food and the service, my concern is the water in the restaurant. When our table asked for water (tap) we were told their filtration system was down and we could have water if we wanted to order a $9 bottle of water. Strange as it seems there was no problem with the water if you wanted ice for your bottled water, if you wanted coffee or tea, they even had water to wash the dishes and the vegetables. When you question the ethics of a kosher restaurant with something so basic as water it brings their adherence kashrut into question. read more

Tap water was not permitted, so we had to pay $7.95 for a bottle of water. A worker wandered around the section delivering food orders. He had no idea which table the food in his hands were for. He tried to give us food that wasn't ours. I ordered the Asian salmon salad. It arrived about 10 minutes prior to my husband's fish dinner. The atmosphere was chaotic and noisy. Actually the worst restaurant ever, plus the owner is one of the rudest people. We were there with a large party and an infant and the owner was sitting at a table and was well finished with his meal. He told us he would leave in one minute and it ended up taking him over 30 minutes to leave. He didn't want to accommodate us. The food was sub-par and a big rip-off. The pasta tasted like rubber and the fish was supposed to come with 2 sides, but they forgot to bring the sides until the end of the meal.I wouldn't recommend this place at all. More like 2 to 2 1/2 stars, but the friends from out of town that we were meeting here -- who are kosher and had chosen this restaurant -- asked me to be kind. There are not that many decent kosher restaurants -- especially ones in the area that are "dairy" based and good for vegetarians, too. They even have sushi on their dinner menu. When we arrived at 11:30 am, they were packed and overwhelmed. Luckily, they have a large outside deck on the side of the restaurant as well as tables out front. They didn't have the reservation that our friends had made a few days before, but "fit us in" at an outside table. Parking was full by the restaurant, but they have a lot behind the place that still had some spaces available. Service was not good. It took forever just to get a server to stop by our table even after asking the hostess twice. We were worried that we wouldn't still be able to get breakfast. When she came by, she only wanted to take our drink orders, but I was insistent that she take our food orders as well --everything --as we'd waited such a long time. It was windy and cool outside and it also took quite awhile for someone to turn on the heat lamp next to our table (again we had to ask repeatedly several different people). When they brought the drinks, my husband's black coffee looked like pale brown water. It took awhile to send it back. The second cup was only slightly darker. When we got our food, it came out in piecemeal. Our friend got his toast salad first. Ten minutes later his wife got her shakshuka dish (the eggs were raw so she sent it back). I finally got my food (avocado toast). And finally my husband got his meal (Israeli breakfast). His scrambled eggs were barely one egg let alone three eggs as stated on the menu though. And they forgot his ciabatta bread. After he'd eaten, they finally brought his bread by (after a couple requests), but they never did bring the butter that was supposed to go with it. I did like my avocado toast btw. It came with small salad. As it had no salad dressing on it, I just didn't eat it. I was exhausted by then with trying to get service, get our food, get what we ordered, etc etc. It also took awhile to get our check and by then (2 hours later), we were more than ready to leave. When the gal asked if we wanted dessert, my husband said, "no thanks, we have to be somewhere by 6 pm"! We also had no idea that they would include the tip in the bill upfront. We now know why they charge 20% included because if this is their regular operation, no one would leave a tip at all. And prices are pretty expensive here to begin with (kosher food is not cheap) so be ready for sticker shock. Bottom line, if you're not kosher and can eat anywhere, I'd avoid this place especially in season -- or on a Sunday -- as a minimum. read more
