My order: cortado The Review: The positive first--Café Saint Germain is pretty cute inside and is conveniently located near Inman Square. The person who made my drink was really nice. The rest of the review--at over $6 for a cortado, plus tip, I was almost at $7 for one of the simplest espresso drinks. Absolute insanity, considering their specialty is not so much coffee, but rather food and pastries. They also didn't have any GF options in their pastry case. If I'm dying for a coffee, I'd stop here, but otherwise would rather visit one of the several other specialty roasters in the area!

This cozy French style spot was perfect for a girls dinner! Their unlimited French tapas deal was worth it at $42/pp. We tried sooo many tapas and ordered seconds of our faves. The mushroom croquettes were delicious!! They tasted like a vegetarian French version of mozzarella sticks. Also loved the salmon ceviche and poutine fries. Spent over 2 hours here yapping, drinking, & eating, was a lovely night!

Great brunch spot! Love the eggs benny and cocktails were wonderful. I had a Hibiscus Spritz and we kept ordering more. Truffle fries 10/10 as well. Service super warm and friendly as well as attentive. Vibes outside and inside are beautiful and lively. French patisserie vibes and lush greenery really makes this place stand out.

They had a Latin vinyl DJ playing which is what caught our attention and led us to walk in and dine. However, the food was not extraordinary (not bad, but not great). I will say that the service was stellar!

I was up here visiting in Cambridge and came across this cafe! It feels like a French cafe in the style and ambience! The service was very quick and they have a fresh selection of baked goods and hot foods. We ordered a ham and cheese baguette and I got a mocha latte. It was so good!!

Casual French dining- bistro/cafe. Good selection of pastries - the almond croissant was decent, as was the cappucino, but nothing too earth-shattering. I got the Salad Nicoise - was pleasantly surprised that it came with sushi-grade seared tuna. The dressing was just okay though, I wanted to like it more. We sat outside on the sidewalk, service was a little spotty (server brought our food out but forgot utensils so after waiting a few minutes I ended up going to the counter to ask for them). But this is a really cute cafe, and I'd love to come back and try their other offerings.

I really enjoyed the food and vibes there! We went there for the unlimited french tapas and we got to try out most of the tapas (mostly delicious! really recommend the mushroom croquettes!) We ordered a bottle of wine and really enjoyed the food while chatting for about 2 hours! The service was good too. She made sure we needed everything :))

I visited Cafe St. Germaine in Somerville on Beacon Street and discovered it to be a wonderful addition to my neighborhood. They offer $1.00 Oysters from 4-6 p.m., and I hope this deal lasts a long time because they were very fresh. For my meal, I tried the delicious SOUPE A L'ONION GRATINÉE priced at $14, followed by the BŒUF BOURGUIGNON priced at $36, which consisted of Red Wine Braised Boneless Beef Short Ribs, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots & Pearl Onions. While the dish was nicely presented and tasty, I would recommend making the short ribs more tender and flavorful with extra sauce. On Mondays and Tuesdays, they offer all you can eat Tapas with a wide selection for $38.00. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Lastly, I would suggest adding bar seats with backs for added comfort.

The PRB Boulangerie remodeled and has opened as a lovely French bistro / cafe. The interior is attractive, with a bistro feel. And the menu features a lot of classic French dishes. We had the saumon fumee appetizer, and coq au vin and black truffle rigatoni as entrees. Everything tasted great--the chicken was flavorful, the rigatoni sauce was rich and had nice umami, without being too much. And we finished out the meal with their crème brulee. The service was attentive and friendly, with the meal served at a gentle pace that felt just right. (Beautiful plating as well!)

We walked into a cozy, bohemian atmosphere filled with eclectic décor, photos, artwork, books, puzzles, chess boards, and an overall sense that people are encouraged to slow down and stay present. Despite the relatively small footprint, the space manages to feel welcoming rather than cramped, with indoor seating that supports conversation and outdoor seating that becomes especially popular during warmer months. Coffee is clearly the centerpiece here. We ordered espresso based drinks, including a flat white and a seasonal Juniper Latte, both of which were prepared with care and a clear emphasis on quality. The café leans into a more thoughtful coffee program, and that attention shows in the cup. Beyond the drinks, the pastry selection is good, particularly the croissants and scones, which paired naturally with the coffee menu. The experience is helped by friendly, engaged staff who contribute to the café's welcoming personality. Conversations with the baristas and small community touches helped create an environment that felt more personal than transactional. The laptop free policy can catch first time visitors by surprise, but for many regulars it is part of what gives Faro its distinctive identity and helps preserve the social atmosphere that sets it apart from more work focused cafés. For a coffee stop in Harvard Square that prioritizes human connection over productivity, Faro Cafe delivers a warm, intentional space worth slowing down for.

The space is pretty tight and it was really busy when I showed up but absolutely cleared out as I sat down to eat. I ordered a cold brew, which was a bit watery, but I like it super dark so it's probably just my taste preference. They put the milk/cream in for you and you pick the coffee up in a separate spot from the food. They call your name for both pickups. For food I got the devilled egg open face bagel that has bacon on top on a whole wheat everything bagel. Eating it was intense. I couldn't put it down once I picked up each side and had to be very careful not to spill the egg mixture off the top. It took a while to eat but was amazingly delicious and exactly what I wanted. I would eat it everyday if I could. If it came with micro greens on top, it would be even better. The mixture had red onions which gave it a punch and crunchy texture. I considered adding salt to the mixture on top but I'm glad I didn't because the bagel itself had sea salt so each bite was salty enough. When I ordered I asked if I could also get 2 bagels to bring home and I was told the limit is 1 on weekends and 2 during the week. The manager (I assume) stepped in and said I could have 2 so I chose the rosemary sea salt, which the only have on weekends. I made breakfast sandwiches on them the next day and it was heavenly. This is a spot to check out!

The restaurant had a really great ambiance, and I enjoyed being able to watch the chefs prepare the food. We ordered the ginger cabbage salad, the coconut eggplant, and the duck noodles. I would have loved to have tried their sushi grade salmon, but they were unfortunately sold out for the night. So I would recommend arriving earlier if you would like to try it. My favorite dish was the duck noodles. I liked the freshness of the basil in the pesto, and the tenderness and juiciness of the duck. The coconut eggplant was a close second favorite. The coconut flavor was delicious, and I liked the nuts on top for crunch. I also found the ginger cabbage salad to be yummy, but not as much as a standout as the other two dishes. Overall, I really enjoyed this spot for dinner. I liked how fresh everything was, and how the dishes felt very light and healthy. It's definitely a bit on the pricier side, but I found it to be very worth it. I definitely come back and try their lattes and other dishes.

My recommendation is to go with the Liege waffle with berries and your pick of any other toppings. With a cozy atmosphere and the smell of warm waffles, this is an especially good spot during the colder months, but still a favorite in the warmer months too. ------ FOOD: THE LIEGE (5/5) The Liege waffle is the classic here and the one I'd recommend. Sweet, thick, and a richer snack (i.e. the satisfying treat you're probably looking for if you're stopping by a waffle shop). All of the topping combos are classic, and the berries they use here are high quality. Waffles come out hot and fresh after just being made, so if you order ice cream or whipped cream, know that you'll have to eat quickly if you don't want it to melt into the waffle. THE BRUSSELS (4.5/5) Besides the Liege, the Brussels waffle is an interesting choice and very different from the Liege. As the menu describes, it's definitely significantly lighter, and it's crispier in a different way (not from the caramelization of the pearl sugar but from crisped up batter similar to an Ego waffle). It's extremely delicate, so I'd recommend just doing some powdered sugar and maybe a chocolate drizzle or some whipped cream. ------ ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE: * Small shop on the edge of Harvard Square. Some window seating and a few small tables best for groups of 2 - 4. * Given how small it is inside, finding a seat during peak hours can be particularly challenging, and lines can be out the door too. ------ SERVICE: * Order at the kiosk and then find a seat (if you can). When a waffle is done, they'll call a name and come to you once you indicate that it's for you. * Water and utensils are self-service, and the expectation is that you put your plates, utensils, and cups away in a bin inside by the counter.

The ultimate sweetness is evident from the ingredients. The waffle was light and crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside; the sweetness of the banana and caramel is mellow and rich, the pearl sugar was slightly caramelized, and the sweetness of the cream was natural and light. Every bite offered a different layer of flavor. But most importantly, it was really sweet, and sweetness is the most soul-stirring enjoyment. It was sweet enough to bring peace, allowing you to temporarily escape the world and focus on this plate of beautiful fairytale. Café au Lait (Latte): Beautifully layered, with a natural milky aroma. But what does the menu mean by confusing café au lait with latte?

We didn't get one of the menu items we ordered. The server never came around so it was hard to ask for it. When we finally caught her to let her know, we were almost done eating, and we were still charged for it. No one came by to check on our meal, and no one came by with our check. It took a long time to flag down our server each time, even when there weren't many tables in the cafe. When the handheld payment machine was given to me to pay and prompted me for a tip amount, the server held it across the table rather than giving it to me or placing it on the table, so I felt pressured to choose one of the high prefilled amounts, even though the service was terrible. This makes it awkward for the customer to give anything less than the set amounts. It is also rude to reach across the table. For the average food and below average service, I wouldn't return to Bluestone, considering there are so many other options in the area with better service.
