    Chicken forestier

New to Cambridge and trying to dive into all places near me. Chose this spot to indulge in via delivery. Had the Chicken forestier and mushroom soup. Both were fantastic. Can't wait to try in person.

    Crepe night!

Can you say date night!! Came here for dinner on a Friday night and we sat outside because it was such a nice night. We came early and to our surprise they were still serving $1 oysters till 6pm. So of course we had to order a dozen! Yes! It was also crepe night so they had special menus for that night with a variety of savory or sweet crepes to choose from. What a treat! My boyfriend and I both ordered savory crepes along with drinks. The nice waiter was very attentive and always stopped by asking how everything was. The crepes were very good and the oysters where nice and salty just like we liked them. Since it was a really nice night and we were enjoying their really nice patio seating we took our time and ordered a dessert wine to share and coffee after our dessert! We just didn't want to leave! The food was great, the ambiance was great and the service was great! What a great date night!

I love the vibe here! Such a chic ambiance. Lots of tables and they accommodated a prime time walk in no problem. I loved the garden drink (pretty and delicious). I also really liked the French onion soup.

Bad service, beautiful venu and food just as expected. We went in for Crepes night and sampled quite a few crepes, they were good but small.

Take me back to Paris. Fantastic Parisian restaurant in the heart of Kendall Square. Techies and the MIT community visit here. Get the $1 oysters from 5-6pm. The mussels and frites were excellent. It was great to celebrate my birthday here too. Great service too!

Cabillaud rôtis & légumes de saison (roasted cod fish, seasonal veggies)

tl;dr: For our group of 5, there was a shocking inconsistency in dishes that were ordered by multiple folks. I was pretty pleased with the taste of my first two dishes, but several others thought that their meal didn't meet that same standard. I came for Dine Out Boston and was generally satisfied with the experience. To start off, the ambiance is definitely upscale, with romantic lighting, modern bar, and outdoor patio. Unfortunately, there was no A/C on indoors, despite the warmth. Upon entering, it's not entirely clear where the host stand is, which maybe contribute to the European feel? Complimentary bread (and refills!) were served to the table. We also ordered a bottle of pinot grigio to share. We chose our orders based on the "popular dishes" (on Yelp & Google Maps) - many of which weren't available on the Dine Out Boston menu. I was also definitely looking forward to the crème brûlée, but unfortunately they were out. The base set for Dine Out Boston was $38/person for entree, plats principaux, and dessert; I ordered the assiette de saumon fumé (smoked salmon plate, $3 upcharge), cabillaud rôtis et légumes de saison (roasted cod fish, seasonal veggies), and riz au lait (rice pudding). I didn't choose the fromage ($6 upcharge for 2). Looking at the menu and seeing all the upcharges, it feels like you aren't quite getting what you were promised for Dine Out Boston - but then, compared with the regular dinner menu, it did feel quite a bit cheaper than expected. The intrigue started when our entrees arrived. Two people in my group ordered pâté de campagne and received two very distinct appetizers. They were served on distinct types of plates, which is understandable, but they each came with a completely different salad (one had radishes and tomatoes, the other had greens only). The phenomenon repeated itself with the mains, where two of us ordered the roasted cod. Mine was prepared with significant attention to presentation, with the veggies below and the cod artfully laid on top - another person had a different set of veggies and got everything much more haphazardly thrown together, with a definitely less-appealing appearance. I say with admiration that the quantity of food surpassed my expectations. In fancy restaurants, I often come in with the expectation that the plate will be small and I will leave still a bit hungry. Here, I was satiated after the appetizer and stuffed after the main! With barely any room left for dessert, I tried the riz au lait, and wasn't a fan. On the upside, though, I liked the salmon in the appetizer (the plain white toast was quite average, and I was almost tricked into thinking the tasty blackberries were caviar!), and the roasted cod was indeed delicious. The veggies (at least on my dish!) were also roasted perfectly, neither overly firm nor tender. Kudos for that!

Only 5 Star Bar in Kendall! This review is only for the bar. A long, elegant marble bar facing third st, where service is attentive, music is quiet and ambient, and cocktails are of high quality and careful construction.

I had such a wonderful experience at Batifol! First off, the restaurant is beautiful inside and as soon as you walk in, you feel the relaxed ambiance that's so inviting. The decor is spot on! We started our night with the fried zucchini blossoms and I must say, these were the highlight of the evening! If you get a chance to try them, highly recommend! They are flavorful and scrumptious, and devoured in a few bites. The French onion soup is also amazing!! A thick slice of cheese tops the soup and the croutons inside make this dish so comforting. The poulet gaston gerard was delicious and rich and very filling! The chicken is tender and the mushrooms are a great addition. This dish came with a side of rice but I ate most of it without rice. Overall, awesome meal with great company, and would definitely come back again!

Went mid-week with a party of 8 during Dine Out Boston. Service was great. Some of us had the prix fixe that had good options and some ordered off the regular menu. Disappointed that the escargot were not in the shell. Bread was yummy. Entrees and desserts were good.

    Thanksgiving turkey!
    Velvet G.

We ordered their Thanksgiving take out, and let me tell you we were thrilled we did. We ordered the Turkey and the sides for a little under 200, which was a steal considering the alternatives and the time and stress saved. This was a meal for 6-8 people, no less! The turkey was perfectly cooked with detailed instructions for heating. It was juicy and tender and buttery and the meat was falling off the bone, so much so that we could hardly hold and carve it! The sides comprised mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, squash, gravy, and cranberry sauce. The potatoes were so good and buttery. The green beans had almonds and were perfectly crunchy. The stuffing was out of this world. The gravy was nice and beefy. The whole thing together was a great bite. Did I say how good the stuffing was? The pickup was easy. The orders were timed and laid out on a table. A jovial French gentleman helped us to our order and that's that! They also have a nice pastry shop for desserts if you need some (who doesn't!). I would HIGHLY recommend this place and we are looking forward to dining there soon.

Only one visit. Good meat and good service ! They ran out of two dessert options I was interested in. I then asked if they could get a lemon tartlet from the sister company PRB Boulangerie next door. And they did ! That's service !

    AVOCADO TARTINE
    Yueh Qi C.

This place is conveniently located near the MIT/Kendall T stop. The beef tartare was really good, and I'd say the avocado tartine was decent as well. They are on the pricier end but atmosphere was good and has a really nice setting for a nice sit down lunch. However, the service was a letdown. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty at 1pm, the food took a surprisingly long time to arrive, especially considering that many of the ingredients don't require much cooking. I also had to really flag down the staff just to get the check. I'm still interested in trying their brunch menu on the weekends and hope that a busier crowd might result in better service next time.

We went tonight for their restaurant week menu of $38 for 3 courses. Sadly what this new chef doesn't understand is that restaurant week is an opportunity for the restaurant to show off its best dishes (not offer filler) in hopes of attracting a new clientele. The prefix menu did not offer any of the standout FRENCH dishes from the main menu like Boeuf Bourguignon or Coq au Vin. Appetizers: escargot and French onion soup were the two main French inspired appetizers. We had smoked salmon which came with a dry half piece of white toast and I chose to have it on the Lovely baguette that came before the meal. It should've been served with this. My husband had carrot and feta cold salad, which was just shredded carrots with crumbled feta on top and a squeeze of lemon. It was completely uninspired and lacked a lovely vinaigrette, which should've included some olive oil, a pinch of salt and some sherry to sweeten it. My husband took two bites and didn't finish anymore. I took a bite and left the rest. For a main course, my husband had the cod with peas and a pea puree with mint. It was the only thing that was well done and we both enjoyed that. I had the chicken Cordon Bleu which consisted of a chicken tender coded in a breading and fried with cheese in the center, and then an uncooked slice of bacon wrapped around parboiled and cold green beans, which hard and were not cooked enough. Chicken cordon bleu is supposed to have the ham wrapped around the chicken and the cheese and then deep-fried with a lovely lemon cream sauce. This was not interesting or good or savory and it was served with french fries. It should've been served with a lovely mashed potato or roasted fingerling potatoes. I had about three bites. The cheese course on the menu just said +6, which was not very clear to my husband who didn't understand that it was not included in the meal. He ordered it and I did not and we were both charged an additional six dollars for two slices of goat cheese with dill wrapped around it and a piece of Swiss. The Swiss on its own was good because the vendor made it that way. The goat cheese with dill was very sour like it had been dipped in pickle juice and was not our favorite. There were sweetened nuts that came with it, but they had nothing inspired about them either. They were not actually candied the way they should've been. Finally, we both had crème brûlée, which was the stand out of the meal. It was delicious. All in all, it was a very lackluster meal, and I will not be returning. It's too bad that this new restaurant has a chef who doesn't understand what this promotion is all about. It was an opportunity to show his BEST work and get more clients interested in dining there.

We walked into a warm, energetic space with dim lighting, an open dining room, and a constant buzz that makes it a great choice for a night out with friends or a date. The restaurant has a vibrant, social energy that encourages sharing and exploration, and the open layout adds to the sense of activity without feeling chaotic. Rather than ordering individual entrées, the experience is centered around sharing a variety of dishes, making each visit feel a little different depending on what you choose. The tapas are the highlight of the menu, with plenty of options that encourage trying a little bit of everything. The bacon-wrapped dates are one of the signature dishes, balancing sweet and savory flavors, while the patatas bravas, croquettes, and charcuterie boards are reliable choices to start the meal. If you are looking for something more substantial, the seafood paella and squid ink pasta stand out as excellent main dishes, offering rich flavors and generous portions that are easy to split between two or more people. The olive oil cake is also worth saving room for if you want to end the meal with dessert, and the overall progression of the meal works well with the tapas format. The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Wine is the main focus, with an extensive list featuring Spanish and international selections, but the sangria and cocktails are equally popular. It is the kind of place where you can easily spend a couple of hours sharing plates while working your way through a few different drinks, and the beverage program is thoughtfully curated to match the style of the food. Service is one of the restaurant's strongest points. The staff are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and dishes arrive steadily throughout the meal instead of all at once, creating a relaxed dining pace. The pacing allowed us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed, and the team checked in at the right moments without hovering. The restaurant is consistently busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. Even with a reservation, there can occasionally be a short wait, and the lively atmosphere means the dining room can get quite loud during peak hours. The energy of the room is part of what makes the experience work, but it is worth keeping in mind if you are looking for a quieter dinner. Barcelona Wine Bar is one of the best places in Boston for Spanish-inspired tapas and wine. The combination of flavorful shareable dishes, a well-curated drink menu, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it an easy choice for group dinners, celebrations, or date nights. It offers a meal that feels both communal and polished, with a setting that encourages slowing down and enjoying the evening. Just be prepared for the energetic environment and plan ahead if you are visiting during the busiest times.

Sadly, I had to remove one star from my review because of how much of a letdown the chocolate cake was. It was completely over-cooked--not molten at all--and quite dry. Additionally, it came with the smallest scoop of ice cream I'd ever received with dessert from a restaurant/wine bar. All of this was extremely disappointing given that this is the most expensive dessert on the menu, and our server recommended it to us when we asked what we should get.
