My first time at this cute little cafe! I met a coffee group here. The staff were so friendly and accommodating to our group. It is family owned with a warm, relaxing vibe. The woman who took my order was super sweet and helped me customize my London Fog latte. The London Fog was perfect. Many coffee shops don't put effort into the tea drinks not the case here. I was very happy to have an excellent drink. The food is made in house. I didn't try any food :( but it all looked delicious. That means I'll be going back very soon!

Cafe Tolia is such a cute cafe in Old City. I ordered a hot matcha w oat milk and the lady who waited on me - who possibly is also the owner?- she was just the sweetest. She made sure I was going to get what I wanted - since I wanted just a drop of simple syrup. It is not easy to find a good matcha in Philly and I thought Cafe Tolia's was really good. I saw on the board outside that they have lentil soup so I will have to come back at lunch time to order. Overall, it's a great little spot and I'm excited to return.

This spot was just okay for me. After tax and tip, I spent $18.28 on just a breakfast sandwich. My friend chose it for a quick bite, and while I knew going in it's more of a café for drinks and pastries than a full breakfast spot, I still expected a bit more for nearly $20. The sandwich itself reminded me of something you'd get at a hotel breakfast the bacon tasted like the pre-cooked kind you find at the grocery store, and the egg had a spongy, square texture. My friend (a vegetarian) ordered the avocado and egg sandwich and was also thrown off by the sponge-like egg, though she enjoyed hers overall once past that part. I was starving after a workout, so I ate mine, but for the price I would've hoped for something fresher. On the positive side, the staff was really friendly, and I can see this place being much stronger for coffee and pastries rather than a breakfast sandwich.

This is the way a city coffee shop should be. Fresh baked goods and fantastic espresso based drinks. Ditch Starbucks and walk 100 feet more for this quaint little coffee shop when visiting old town Philadelphia.

Friendly staff, comfy ambience that's very inviting for a chat over coffee. Breakfast is tasty and coffee is very good. Great cafe!

This was a cute and tasty decision.... We were headed to a different coffee shop but this was closer and cute so we stopped here... everything was great... they were nice to the kids... the food was delicious and the service was supreme!! Thanks Cafe Toila we will be back! Plus it worked well for an oversized party of 6 adults and 4 children!

Amazing food. The customizable breakfast sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. Egg was seasoned perfectly and the toppings were fresh. Bread was very yummy as well. The lentil soup was also yummy although I wish there was a touch of lemon. Service was quick although it was very busy. The cafe was very cute but a little warm. Would definitely recommend.

Great service right as soon as we walked in. Order came out fast. Enjoyed a coffee and a chocolate hazelnut bomboloni donut thing. It was delicious. Just wish there was a lil more options for coffees. Jake, kev, d, mark

I love to try coffee shops. This friendly little place is top notch in service & cleanliness. I didn't try any food but it looked tasty.

My daughter and I came in here after running some errands. It is rather spacious inside, and the decor is very nice. We only ordered iced latte and matcha lavender latte; both were good. Looking at the menu they have some wide range of sandwiches and other food so next time I definitely want to try their food. The service is helpful and good. It is nice to have enough cafe options in this neighborhood!

The coffee is not that good. Service is fast , place is clean. The pistachio croissant is amazingly good The bacon egg sandwich - the egg is salty and the bacon is like one of those microwave one..

The Cafe Tolia has a wide selection of baked goods, coffee, and fresh sandwiches. Food: Endless, fresh and delicious rows of pastries are beautifully displayed. Cafe Tolia has a wide selection of hot and cold coffee flavors. Once I ordered Iced lavender matcha tea! still I feel the flavor and smell! Last time we tried black coffee it was pretty tasty. Croissants, pastries sesames on the top with cheese filling, cakes, cookies,... all extremely delicious The prices are reasonable, the location is easily accessible, and very nice shops around the cafe! Buns, sandwiches, cakes... Service: After you place your order, you can choose and wait on one of the tables! All the decoration, smell and cheerful personel make you happy in this cosy place! All the staff make you fell comfortable and bring your order... Ambiance: The entire interior is designed to make diners relaxed & comfortable. The black and white photos and little detailes makes you happy, too. It's a great place to take a break from your busy schedule and treat yourself. Meet with friends, family, or co-workers for nice cup of coffee and slice of cake!

The location is excellent--just a couple of blocks from Independence Hall, making it a perfect place to stop for breakfast, brunch, coffee, or something freshly baked while exploring the historic area. Everything we ordered was freshly made, delicious, and served with care. We tried the Quiche Lorraine, which had an exceptionally flaky, buttery crust and was served with a small fresh salad. The dressing was excellent too. We also tried the baker's basket, including the croissants and scones. They had a slightly different recipe and flavor than we were accustomed to, but they were absolutely delicious and clearly made with care. The homemade jam was another standout--it was so good that I would recommend taking some home if you have the opportunity. The American omelet was also freshly prepared and brought to the table hot. We also enjoyed a freshly made cappuccino and black coffee. My son ordered the chorizo, and he said it was the best chorizo he has ever tasted anywhere. It was truly delicious! The customer service was excellent. The waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and helpful without being intrusive. Frida's has a charming, cozy, boutique-like atmosphere that combines a restaurant, coffee shop, and bakery. Pricing was average, about $20-30 per person. Cons: Honestly, we couldn't find any! However, the restroom could have been cleaner I highly recommend Frida's to anyone visiting Old City Philadelphia. The freshness and quality of the food really stood out, and you can tell that the baked goods and other dishes are prepared with care. It's a charming place in a fantastic location, and definitely worth a visit while exploring Philadelphia's historic district.

They pretty much all smiled but my server she was a bit slower to check on me or come back around... Had to wait a while to ask for the chec too ... Ordered their egg white omelette. This was pretty good. Needs a bit more punch of flavor though. Got the breakfast potatoes too. Some were hard as a rock while others had a nice crispy outside and soft inside. It was seasoned well. Id actually get that again. The Bangkok tea was yummy. I sadly got the fruit cup..the fruit seemed like it was cut a day or 2 ago. The multi grain toast was cut just a bit tooooooo thick. The butter wasn't anything great. Came with this watery jam too. I ordered their chocolate espresso cake for dinner tonight. Just hope that is good. Decent spot if you're in the area. There are much better places near by too though.

The drinks range from $6 to 8, which is within the average for coffees, teas and lattes now. I opted for the 16oz original viet coffee and added salt cold foam (0.50 upcharge) They also have limited drinks such as the pandan coffee and matcha and banhi mi sandwiches. The ice to liquid ratio was ideal- the small ice kept my drink cold while I walking around Chinatown and didn't dilute the coffee. The cold foam had the perfect amount of salt and the coffee was bold and smooth. Lastly, foam also didn't degrade into my coffee after minutes! I hope I'm able to sleep later, hehe. They didn't care and said that there was no one on site at 7 pm on a Wednesday. From reading other reviews and after being here there is never anyone onsite and they don't mind renting out rooms at full price with no resources. The room rental is for two people and there is only 1 wash cloth, 1 robe and no hand towels. The AC is set to 68 but the actual temp is 75 and is not able to actually keep the room any cooler. Unfortunately the nice finishes don't make up for the downfalls. I wish this boutique hotel showed up better for its customers.

I was admitted to the nearest emergency room because I took a shower at this hotel and used the shower and its door normally. I was cut along my left wrist and forearm and on my right foot. Two of my toes and my wrist and arm are still recovering from this injury nearly a full month after this incident. At least one medical professional told me that I could have been at risk of bleeding out (dying) if the situation was slightly worse. And who knows if this hotel uses the same model shower door for more than just one of their rooms? The hotel's management did not call me to ensure my safety, apologize for the horror that they have put me through, or do their utmost to ensure that I am compensated for the horror that I was forced to experience at their establishment and it's been nearly a full calendar month since the incident with no successful proactive contact from them. Other than this horrifying experience which can likely happen to any of their other guests who decide to shower in their establishments the experience was beautiful. Very nice hotel room. Very dangerous shower. So if you are okay with risking your life and health every time you use their shower or don't plan on showering at their establishment at all, this is a great hotel for you to stay at.

Poor managment/communication it would seem. When sat, there was no napkins. No silverware. No salt n pepper shakers. No ketchup. And it never came even after the food except the fork shoved in my salad. I had my son ask the bartender for a stack of napkins. It was odd.  This place is vegetarian. Totally fine but everything we tried to order, they were out of. No pizza (though the sign they had on the sidewalk said PIZZA). No black beans (which was on most of the dishes) or jalapeños. I asked for the faux chix sandwich...nope. Out of that too. Note the server did tell us the kitchen had a small spoonful left of black beans and divided it between my two sons...still was charged full price for the meal.  Finally, I was able order a Greek salad that came out with just lettuce leaves, a tablespoon of diced tomatoes, dusting of feta, and two peppers. I asked for the rest of the ingredients listed on the menu to which they were brought out. Not sure why they weren't on the salad to start. I had one small piece of lettuce on my beyond burger which was supposed to come with lettuce onion and tomatoes. The fries were wet.  All in all, dont come hungry to this place. Food was mid at best. Looks like a full bar and so many great games to play, but to say this is an eatery is a stretch. I feel badly for the server having to be the liaison between guests and a poor kitchen and management staff. Gentleman downstairs, Justin, was very sweet and informative on how the arcade worked.
