    Cappuccino & maritozzo

A gem of an Italian cafe right in Northern Liberties. Great coffee and excellent breakfast sandwiches! Came here on a Saturday brunch and ordered some of their signature breakfast sandwiches, espressos and pastries. I ordered the Americana which is a bacon, egg and cheese with roasted red pepper and creamy tomato spread. To tie all of the yummy flavors together, I added avocado. And by my first bite, I knew this was my new favorite breakfast sandwich in the city. My cappuccino was the perfect pairing to their soft Maritozzo bun that was generously filled with a decadent cream filling. By the end of the meal, I was already thinking about which of their pastries I wanted to try next, so we ended up bringing some home. My eye caught my favorite dessert, Tiramisu, and I was sold on their large slice of homemade Tiramisu which was super tasty and a bang for my buck. Although the cafe is a smaller space, they offer plenty of seating (which we didn't have any trouble scoring), as well as outside seating during the warmer months. The staff was attentive and helpful in picking out some sweet treats. I wish I lived closer, because this would definitely be my go-to cafe. Can't wait for my next visit!

Such a cute and charming spot in northern liberties. I thought prices were a tad bit high for the drinks, but it was delicious that I would still come back. Indoor/outdoor seating, friendly service with an authentic feel. We ordered an iced coffee and italiana breakfast sandwich on a multigrain toast. I've never had a breakfast sandwich with prosciutto and/or balsamic. It tasted extremely fresh and was very tasty. There were people all around me eating crepes so I will be back to try that. Highly recommend this cute shop!

I started coming here when I was in undergrad and to this day it is still one of my FAVORITE cafes in Philly. It has everything you need good food, desserts, and coffee. Every time I go I HAVE to get the tiramisu, like I absolutely have to. It is so delicious and they give a decent sized piece as well. I truly love their paninis and I think I've tried all of them at this point lol.

Great place to grab a coffee, some food, or their plentiful options of pastries. Let me explain. Dolce & Caffe is a nice vibe in Northern Liberties and is a relaxing spot to grab fresh coffee or a cannoli. I decided to finish up a book I was reading here, as it was quiet enough to do so and their food was made fresh from the kitchen. With plenty of options for food and drinks, I didn't like the cannoli as it was cold and was a bit old, but I'm sure their other options would have been decent options. Solid place for sure!

Delicious!! Highly recommend you stop by for lunch and/or coffee! The paninis are tasty and definitely fill you up. We got the Roma & Parma. We also got dessert with our cappuccinos afterwards. Amazing!!! Good spot and good portions. We sat inside.

Was in Northern Liberties at around 4pm, waiting to kill some time before heading to an appointment and decided to stop by Dolce & Caffé. I was a little disappointed that the kitchen was closed already by that time! (I'm reserving my 5 stars because I would like to try their kitchen prepped food.) The only things they had available were their pastries and desserts. I decided to have a little snack and ordered a hot caramel macchiato and a mini chocolate dipped cannoli. The barista was so nice and she told me she tried to not give me so much foam. :) I love cannolis and the filling was delicious. The shell was a little too crunchy for my preference but it was still good and I recommend it! Overall, a pleasant experience here. The cafe was small, but clean (even the bathroom!). I was tempted to get the tiramisu because that is my favorite dessert, but I will have to come back again and try it! Grazie, Dolce & Caffé! Keep up the good work~

There is a reason why everyone give this cafe 5star rating, coz it deserves it :)....a true gem in Nothern Liberties. We were here on Saturday morning for brunch. Ordered their breakfast crepe and California crepe. I loved my breakfast crepe, perfectly sweet and savory. But when I tasted California crepe, it just blew my mind. Their pesto sauce was amazing. And the entire crepe tastes so good. Well if that's not enough then try their macchiato coffee. Super delicious. It's a small cafe and has a hip ambience. They have music playing in the background and wifi. The staff is friendly and courteous. Looked like a women-run business. All were very nice and helpful. They also have an amazing selection of Italian desserts. That's gonna be my next try. Highly recommend this cafe .....

Frida's in Old City Philadelphia -- Restaurant Pros…read moreFrida's is a wonderful little find in Old City Philadelphia. The location is excellent--just a couple of blocks from Independence Hall, making it a perfect place to stop for breakfast, brunch, coffee, or something freshly baked while exploring the historic area. Everything we ordered was freshly made, delicious, and served with care. We tried the Quiche Lorraine, which had an exceptionally flaky, buttery crust and was served with a small fresh salad. The dressing was excellent too. We also tried the baker's basket, including the croissants and scones. They had a slightly different recipe and flavor than we were accustomed to, but they were absolutely delicious and clearly made with care. The homemade jam was another standout--it was so good that I would recommend taking some home if you have the opportunity. The American omelet was also freshly prepared and brought to the table hot. We also enjoyed a freshly made cappuccino and black coffee. My son ordered the chorizo, and he said it was the best chorizo he has ever tasted anywhere. It was truly delicious! The customer service was excellent. The waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and helpful without being intrusive. Frida's has a charming, cozy, boutique-like atmosphere that combines a restaurant, coffee shop, and bakery. Pricing was average, about $20-30 per person. Cons: Honestly, we couldn't find any! However, the restroom could have been cleaner I highly recommend Frida's to anyone visiting Old City Philadelphia. The freshness and quality of the food really stood out, and you can tell that the baked goods and other dishes are prepared with care. It's a charming place in a fantastic location, and definitely worth a visit while exploring Philadelphia's historic district.

They pretty much all smiled but my server she was a bit slower to check on me or come back around... Had to wait a while to ask for the chec too ... Ordered their egg white omelette. This was pretty good. Needs a bit more punch of flavor though. Got the breakfast potatoes too. Some were hard as a rock while others had a nice crispy outside and soft inside. It was seasoned well. Id actually get that again. The Bangkok tea was yummy. I sadly got the fruit cup..the fruit seemed like it was cut a day or 2 ago. The multi grain toast was cut just a bit tooooooo thick. The butter wasn't anything great. Came with this watery jam too. I ordered their chocolate espresso cake for dinner tonight. Just hope that is good. Decent spot if you're in the area. There are much better places near by too though.

The drinks range from $6 to 8, which is within the average for coffees, teas and lattes now. I opted for the 16oz original viet coffee and added salt cold foam (0.50 upcharge) They also have limited drinks such as the pandan coffee and matcha and banhi mi sandwiches. The ice to liquid ratio was ideal- the small ice kept my drink cold while I walking around Chinatown and didn't dilute the coffee. The cold foam had the perfect amount of salt and the coffee was bold and smooth. Lastly, foam also didn't degrade into my coffee after minutes! I hope I'm able to sleep later, hehe. If you are in need of pick me, drop in and stay drippy!

They do charge a $7 fee to use them however. This was not communicated btw. Totally understandable for the charge, just it felt this was the theme of the visit. Poor managment/communication it would seem. When sat, there was no napkins. No silverware. No salt n pepper shakers. No ketchup. And it never came even after the food except the fork shoved in my salad. I had my son ask the bartender for a stack of napkins. It was odd.  This place is vegetarian. Totally fine but everything we tried to order, they were out of. No pizza (though the sign they had on the sidewalk said PIZZA). No black beans (which was on most of the dishes) or jalapeños. I asked for the faux chix sandwich...nope. Out of that too. Note the server did tell us the kitchen had a small spoonful left of black beans and divided it between my two sons...still was charged full price for the meal.  Finally, I was able order a Greek salad that came out with just lettuce leaves, a tablespoon of diced tomatoes, dusting of feta, and two peppers. I asked for the rest of the ingredients listed on the menu to which they were brought out. Not sure why they weren't on the salad to start. I had one small piece of lettuce on my beyond burger which was supposed to come with lettuce onion and tomatoes. The fries were wet.  All in all, dont come hungry to this place. Food was mid at best. Looks like a full bar and so many great games to play, but to say this is an eatery is a stretch. I feel badly for the server having to be the liaison between guests and a poor kitchen and management staff. Gentleman downstairs, Justin, was very sweet and informative on how the arcade worked. However because of the aforementioned, I don't think we'll be back.
