This place has gone downhill. They never have coffee specials. Now, they have tape over the outlets so you can't plug-in if you need to charge your computer while you're doing work. The Wi-Fi also does not reach outside. Overpriced for what it is. read more

Delightful little cafe for a small menu of breakfast, sandwiches, and coffee. A good center city go-to for getting work done. They even have a booth you can reserve to record podcasts or work on other media projects, which is very cool. I really enjoyed my breakfast skillet that included curried potatoes, eggs, bacon, and tomatoes. I also got to try the open face sandwich with lox which was also quite fresh and tasty. I'll have to come back and try the coffee drinks. I would love a bit more of an ability to customize the dishes or a larger smattering of offerings, and I also found it a bit odd I wasn't able to obtain ketchup. The ambiance gives morning date, group, single diner, work from home coffee shop etc. They offer a lot of coffee options here with great homemade syrup options! - the brown sugar cinnamon is sooo good. My sister ordered the open faced salmon and I was worried about the pickle but the pickled was a nice touch! The cold brew was good with their homage syrup and my sister enjoyed their matcha. The coffee is mid, the decor is fine but nothing special...spacious with high ceilings, pretty standard. Unfortunately the staff are consistently rude, the worst offender being the owner who - if he's working - seems to bring down the mood of the entire rest of the people working. I've been in perhaps 20 times in the past two years out of the simple necessity of living nearby, and I can tell you that the morale of the rest of the staff drops to HELL when the owner is behind the counter with them. read more

They have a bunch of different stuff to pick from like sandwiches, yogurts, avocado toasts, smoothies, coffees, and croissants. Staff are really nice too. We were visiting Philly and stumbled upon Bower Cafe! The novelty shops open around 12 so we had time to kill. I got an ice matcha latte with Vanilla Bean syrup and almond milk $8.50 and cold brew with brown sugar oat milk $6.50. The Brett (Salmon Open Sandwich) $14 was delicious! Really good coffee and breakfast spot in center city. We initially loved going to their location on ~10th and Spruce, but must admit that this new location is way better with so much space and an amazing aesthetic. The food is always good, especially the breakfast sandwich on brioche. The coffee is good as well, although I will say that they have been out of chai multiple times I've gone - not a great track record there. I just stopped by Bower Cafe for a quick snack and afternoon pick-me-up. The sandwich/heavier fare menu seems quite robust and delicious, but I wasn't quite hungry enough for that today, so I picked up a croissant, as well as a vanilla skim iced matcha. The croissant was really tasty, almond pistachio, with very flaky dough and a soft filling. The matcha, however... I want to preface this by saying that the staff are very nice and kind. However, I simply don't think that my barista was properly trained with matcha. He simply put a teaspoon of matcha directly into an espresso cup and poured water on top, then mixed it around a bit with a stirring spoon. With a matcha latte mix, this would work, but with real matcha, I was left with a cup of watery milk with a vague matcha flavor, accompanied by sucking up bitter crumbs of matcha every few seconds. If I hadn't waited to try it, I may have taken it back. Again, this is not the staff's fault! They were lovely. Management, though, should do a better job training them. read more
