Shrimp boil with side of corn in 50/50 sauce, medium spice.
    Timmy P.

Food: 8/10. The seafood was good, the 50/50 sauce in medium spice level was really good. We also ordered fries and rice as sides. The only downside was when the boil came out, it didn't have much sauce on it. Thus, I recommend ordering an extra side of sauce. Service: 10/10, the staff were really attentive and checked in on our party plenty of times. Food also came out relatively quickly. Ambiance: 9/10, typical crab boil interior. Nothing special. I will note that the inside was very clean.

Cajun Claws is new to downtown Oakland so we decided to give it a try. The shrimp rice bowl was surprisingly delicious. The boil bag was quite tasty. I loved the sausage! I would definitely go back

Cajun Claws (Oakland, CA): Dipesh from Cajun Claws & Savannah (Yelp Elite Member)

I visited Cajun Claws in Oakland, CA [1951 Telegraph Ave] on Saturday, 03/28/26, around 7 PM. I was honored to come to this restaurant during the soft opening. For dinner, I ordered the "Boil Your Catch" option, which allowed me to customize a seafood boil bag. I got the 1lb of shrimp peeled off with the 50/50 sauce (garlic butter sauce + cajun sauce), medium as the spicy level ("Cajun Current"), sausage, potatoes, and corn. I must say that the sauce was extremely flavorful and complemented all of the fixings of the bag. My taste buds were dancing and I was completely satisfied with the overall taste. The service met expectations. I had the pleasure of being served by Dipesh. Dipesh was super attentive, sweet, and kind. I loved his friendly disposition and hospitality, which enhanced the entire dining experience even more! I was able to take a photo with him, too! The indoor ambiance was beautiful. I loved the spectacular decorations. The inside just had a modern take and it was just so inviting in general. Thank you, Cajun Claws, for the incredible food, marvelous service, and a positively energetic team of people. I will be returning here whenever I find myself in the Bay Area again.

We came here with our boys to have a nice lunch together. The 2 ladies working up front were very friendly and very helpful. The place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. There were couples and families there. So, it's a good place for a date or a get together. The food was very good. We'll be going back soon.

The Shrimp Po' Boy (5/5) and Cajun Fried (3/5)
    Tony U.

Uptown, just a block up from Fox Theatre has a new place to eat in what used to be Roam Burgers and a Nashville Style Chicken Restaurant. Cajun Clams specializes in seafood. My review is based on my lunch order of the Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich. The sandwich, which comes with a choice of fries (regular, Cajun style, and shrimp style). I had the Cajun style fries and they pretty much tasted bland like salty fries. They weren't bad but I would have expected a stronger Cajun flavor (3/5). The Shrimp Po' Sandwich on the other hand was very good. The fried shrimps were lightly battered and they were decent sized shrimps. (5/5). This place is new and as you can see has a nice fresh looking interior. Service is reliable and friendly. Look forward to coming here again and trying their other dishes.

    Cajun Claw Linguine noodles

Came here to celebrate Father's Day. Ordered two All In One Bags and two Cajun Claw Linguine Noodles for 4 adults. The 50/50 seasoning was very good and had a good balance of that garlicky and Cajun flavor. The staff was very attentive and accommodating and helped us navigate the menu as it was our first time at a seafood boil as a family. The decor and lighting in the evening looks a lot better in person than the photos on Yelp so It ended up being a great spot for a family dinner. Definitely will have to return another time.

Saturday evening I've decided to give this spot another chance since found this place to have its own potential but boy i was wrong. I've placed an order online for mix and match along with other items but soon realized that it's be more worth to order a combo if I were going to add additional toppings such as corn, potatoes, and sausage. I'm not upset at the woman who took my phone order that could've recommended me the combo instead of my individual orders. I called back within seconds after my order and I was connected I told the manager that lied to us about being unable to accommodate us, which is surprising. I've worked as a server for over 10 years, and his behavior was absurd--being unprofessional on the phone, then only offering a 10% discount for over $20 in additional toppings, which now raises red flags about management's training. I don't feel comfortable dining here given potential food safety issues and the restaurant's incomplete setup, despite ordering takeout for months. I wanted to support this new Cajun boil spot, but it's underwhelming, and I prefer going to San Jose. I've traveled across states for seafood boils, and this experience is disappointing, especially in today's economy. Charging $72 for 2 lbs of shrimp with only a 10% discount is frustrating. He claims a $10 credit for the next visit, but that's just 10%--which implies spending $100. Honestly, I won't be coming back.

So good when I tell you very season seasons, perfection not overly season not to under season the good quantities I'm talking about more than you can finish. Customer service is amazing. They're very polite. Sonphi & Aariya made me feel so welcomed!! You don't have to wait on anybody. You have a button on your table that you could call for somebody to come serve you you don't have to ask for the bill you push a button. The bill is brought to you. The ambience is amazing. You feel like you're really at a pirate ship or something. It's like all the crabs on the wall and the net just gives a good feeling that you're really in the Bayou eating some good seafood boil I'll go try them out. Went twice this week !!! Try the GUMBO!!

My partner and I ate here for dinner earlier this evening. We shared the crab cakes and the street corn; my entree was the gumbo and hers was a mildly spicy 1 lb mix of Cajun sauced shrimp and crawfish. All of the food was excellent: the seasoning mix on the corn was flavorful; the crab cakes had a perfect crunch that complimented the soft crab well; the Cajun sauce on the shellfish was a great mix of savory and spicy; and the gumbo was tasty, filling, and satisfying. The strawberry lemonade was tasty as well but a little too sweet. Overall, a great dining experience - highly recommend if you are in/near Oakland and craving Cajun seafood!

The server/host for the afternoon, Paul, was absolutely great, friendly, and made me feel at home. While I waited for my guest, I ordered the tostones (twice fried green plantains) and the Island Vibes Rum Punch. Tostones came out crisp, hot, and with an aioli dip. Just delicious. Maybe could have used a touch more salt, but still yummy. The aioli was a great addition. My cocktail was also delicious and I could have easily put a few of those away. But... work. When my guest arrived, we ordered a couple of dishes to share: Dominican "Spaghetti" (Udon noodle, confit garlic, pork longaniza, beef salchichon, tomato sazonado) and the El Barrio Picadera (Chicharron de puerco - crispy pork belly, beef salchichon, pork longaniza, lime, pickled red onion, honey mojo, and a side of tostones). Wasn't sure what to expect from the spaghetti but it was slurpingly delicious. The sauce was savory, not sweet, and the pieces of pork sausage and beef were perfect additions. The Picadera was equally great, almost like a tapas plate of assorted meats. The crispy pork belly had lots of tasty fat to add flavor and moisture. Def enough food for two. Alamar isn't a huge space, but it's cozy inside with a see through to the kitchen. Dinner service has outdoor seating available as well. Will most definitely be back to try the more expansive dinner menu.

FIFA 2026 in full swing - Brazil vs. Haiti on the screen- had us and other diners chit chatting during dinner, which made for a comfy, family vibe! The staff are friendly but as the dinner rush began, the service got a little harried and apologies for delays were overheard. We started with the Pica Pollo chicken wings to share. They were perfectly fried with a lovely crunchy crust outside and juicy inside and we ate all of the tasty dip. I enjoyed a Mamajuana while Eric liked his rum punches. I'm a sucker for anything oxtail so I chose the Braised Oxtail de Res and Eric picked (and finished!) his Pernil. Everything was satisfying and flavorful. I ended up taking home some oxtail and moro for another meal. So good! We'll have to return to explore more dishes and drinks on the menu.

I really like how they let you build your seafood experience exactly how you want it, from the type of seafood to the seasoning and spice level. The only thing was I think the spice level could've been kicked up a notch. Our table ordered a mix of oysters, garlic noodles, Cajun fries, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, which came with corn, potatoes, sausage and hard boiled egg! The seafood was fresh and the sauce coated everything nicely without being overwhelmingly salty, and the corn and potatoes soaked up all the seasoning. All for a very reasonable price if you get the combo, which comes in 3 different tiers! The oysters were a standout--fresh, briny & I loved all the different sauces like horse radish and cocktail on the side. I do wish the fries were a bit more crispy and could've gone heavier with the Cajun seasoning, but that's personal preference. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and perfect for big groups. Based on that conversation, I expected fresh live crawfish, which was available Tuesday when I ordered from DoorDash the previous time. After I got home and opened my order this time. it was clear that the crawfish had been frozen. If the restaurant serves frozen crawfish, that's fine, but customers should be given accurate information when they ask directly about the product right? I feel misled because I relied on what I was told when making my purchase. Transparency is important, and I hope the restaurant does a better job communicating with customers about whether their crawfish are live or previously frozen. VERY DISHONEST BUSINESS SMH.

I had the salmon, fried prawns, mac and cheese, and cabbage. Everything we tried was flavorful, fresh, and cooked with care. The standout items were the blackened shrimp and the crab. The butter sauce covering the crab was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. The salmon was cooked exactly the way salmon should be--moist, flaky, and tender. Too many restaurants overcook salmon and dry it out in the center, but Chef Smelly's got it right. The fried prawns paired perfectly with their sweet chili sauce, which was a nice change from the usual tartar sauce. The sides held their own. The mac and cheese was creamy with great texture, and while I won't call it the best I've ever had, it was very good. The cabbage was excellent, but the collard greens were the real surprise. They reminded me of my mother's homemade greens, and that's not a compliment I give lightly. If you're from the South, you know how hard it is to find greens that taste like they came from someone's family kitchen. The service was attentive, friendly, and hospitable throughout the meal. More importantly, the food was consistently good from start to finish. Bottom line: Chef Smelly's is worth the visit. The set up of Calabash allows for large groups easily. We came early (5:30pm) so we had the place to ourselves for the first half hour. Their specialty cocktails are very nice. Unfortunately the wine selection is limited (I think they'd run out of some and hadn't restocked) but we were happy with the cocktails, which include non-alcoholic options. For Vegans, there are a few great items: there's a roasted brussel sprouts & cauliflower combo that is delicious (might be a little spicy for some, but not for me!); plantain; rice & peas. And for non-meat eaters, the salmon dish and the shrimp dish (an appetizer) are both excellent. I can already tell that Calabash will be my go-to spot in Oakland. I live in San Francisco, which has no authentic Caribbean dining spot, unless you count Meski (Warriors' Draymon Green's new spot), which technically is "Ethiopian-Dominican fusion". Also the price point of Calabash is much more budget-friendly than Meski.
