Second time coming here. Service is good. Drinks were good. I ordered the mussel beach seafood boil and added clams. The Cajun house mix sauce is on the saltier side, but I'm fine with it because I like salty. Paired it up with Calamari. Second time I came I ordered the naked shrimp and added corn and sausage. I like the fried vanilla ice cream, it comes with cinnamon crisps that tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

3lbs whole shrimp, Cajun,in platter versus the bag since we were gonna be sharing.

If you're looking for a place in the city of it should be more park. We took out our coworker for lunch. We're all craving and Cajun food or look no further great staff, clean area. Lots of parking, amazing food. We enjoyed the oysters and shrimp occasion shrimp, side of rice, add some sausage to the shrimp de Michi mix Yummy.

I'm from Orange County but I come to Thousand Oaks VERY OFTEN to visit relatives attending CalLu. One of my favorite restaurants around CalLutheran is Cajun Crab Shack. The food is flavorful, colorful and plentiful. The restaurant has a bar, but my favorite drink is the unsweetened iced tea. The restaurant is spacious, plenty of room for large parties. They also have a patio area for those that enjoy eating outside. The service is always accurate and timely, the only pet peeve I have about this place, is that so far, I have never experienced a smile from the staff, everyone is always serious making the experience less welcoming. We are a people first industry, therefore there is nothing more personal that a connection that comes from a genuine smile.

My friend and I were in Thousand Oaks and wanted to have some boiling crab but it was a bit far however we stumbled upon this crab place and decided to give it a try. It was actually good. Something close and with good pricing which was good. I still love boiling crab but this I would rate 4/5. My friend and I had potatoes corn rice and the mix. I would return again

A review

This was by far the worst crawfish I have ever had. The crawfish tasted old, stale, and had an awful flavor completely inedible. To make matters worse, the pricing was dishonest. Online it clearly says $12 per pound, but when I went to pick up my order, I was charged $24 per pound. That's DOUBLE the advertised price. And by no means am I picky eater I'm practically a garbage disposal. Not only was the food terrible, but I walked away paying the most I've ever been charged at a seafood restaurant for the worst quality I've ever experienced. If you're going to charge an absurd amount, at least make sure the food is edible. Overall, an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. Negative stars don't waste your money.

Cajun Crab Shack is amazing!! The food was incredible, and Antonio provided fast, friendly service. I had the Clams Ahoy seafood combo, and my fiancé loved the Shrimp Scampi Pasta. My dad had the Red Snapper Fish Plate, and we all shared the Beef Nachos, which were delicious. My sister loved the Shrimp Fajita, and the Micheladas are hands down the best we've ever had, you have to try it! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. They stream the sports games, which adds to the fun, and the full bar is a great touch. We can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing food! Highly recommend! :)

Ask the Community - Cajun Crab Shack

Are they doing dine in too outside? They had several tables out there so wondering why it's delivery and take out only.

Yes. There are a few tables outside with plenty of space between them.

How much is a normal meal? The menu is $ per pound so I can't really tell.

It was $19 for the shrimp meal. I believe it was a pound.

Service…read morewas not good, I had to get up and ask them for more water and the guy said we are conducting business and then came and filled up my cup. Then when I placed my order, I like to try things even if I take left overs so I asked for two appetizers and then a dinner plate and he said "two" then he goes and tell the other guy in Spanish how I wanted both appetizers. Now I didn't care that they were making a comment on that, I didn't want to take offense but it was as if I wasn't important enough for them to care that I'm sitting right there while they have a full blown conversation about what I ordered. Now the food sadly was not good. I was expecting some real flavors. The chicken looked delicious but it has no flavor. Absolutely nothing. The hummus was very graining and not at all tasty like others I have had. The tzatziki sauce had too much lemon that it over power the flavor. I've gone to many Mediterranean style restaurants and I know that the hummus and sauces can be made different but this one was not good. The food was the pita bread, that was actually very tasty. The rice and vegetables again no flavor. I'm not sure if maybe this was a bad day for the cook becuase based on the reviews I really thought I was going to get some tasty food. It was very disappointing and I will never return. They are in a plaza so there is lots of parking and the seating area is nice they also have outdoor seating

I ordered the chicken kabebs cajun style with orzo and a salad. If you are lucky you can get a baked potatoe. But those sell fast. The pita bread is fresh. My parents eat here all the time. On Tuesdays house wine is half off. However that sells fast too.

Authentic Island Flavors at Luau Grill…read more My wife, our three sons, and I recently stopped by Luau Grill in Thousand Oaks, and it was one of those spots that instantly makes you feel at home. With its true mom and pop shop feel, this place delivers not just on flavor, but on that welcoming, no-frills atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Entrées: We ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs, and both were outstanding. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. The kalbi short ribs were just as impressive, marinated well with that sweet and savory balance you expect from great Hawaiian BBQ, and cooked to perfection with a nice char. Sides: Each plate came with white rice and macaroni salad, and both hit the mark. The rice was fluffy and a perfect base for the meats, while the macaroni salad was creamy, simple, and exactly what you want alongside a hearty Hawaiian meal. Appetizers: We also grabbed a classic spam musubi, and it did not disappoint. The spam was nicely seared with a slightly sweet glaze, sitting on perfectly seasoned rice and wrapped in seaweed. Simple, but done right. Ambience: The vibe here is as authentic as it gets. It truly feels like a small family-run spot where the focus is on good food and good service rather than anything flashy. That mom and pop atmosphere adds a lot of charm to the overall experience. Overall: Luau Grill is a must-visit if you're in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Hawaiian food. Dining here with our three sons was easy and enjoyable, and from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming feel of the place, everything comes together for a great experience. Easily one of the best Hawaiian spots around, and definitely somewhere we'll be returning to.

I think this place may be my new favorite restaurant…read more My friend and I walked in on a Friday night at 6:30 PM, with no reservations. The place was packed, but I have to assume we got really lucky because we got seated right away at an open table near the front. Our server greeted us immediately and brought us waters for the table. We were overwhelmed initially by the menu options because everything sounded incredible. We asked our waitress what she recommended, and she said literally everything on the menu is amazing - nothing is bad and every dish is popular. So I was quite impressed to hear that. My friend and I decided to get the steak tartare, woodfire grilled octopus, fried gnocchi, and chicken liver pate. Every single dish was actually incredible. The chicken liver pate came with four slices of toast, some pickled vegetables and ground mustard. The pate was creamy, rich, slightly on the sweeter side, so it paired perfectly with the tang from the ground mustard & pickled vegetables. The woodfire grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. Seriously the best, freshest octopus I've ever had! It wasn't chewy or fishy at all. The texture was absolutely perfect. It was very easy to cut into and juicy. It was paired perfectly with the aïoli as well. The steak tartare was extremely fresh. One of the things that I hate about steak tartare at restaurants sometimes is it will start to look brown from the meat oxidizing so it doesn't always look as appetizing, but this tartare was still had that vibrant red color as if they had just cut the meat. Lastly, the fried gnocchi was amazing. It's the first time I've ever had a dish with fried gnocchi. They paired it with a cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. I wish I remembered what was in it, but it was so good. I wanted to drink that sauce lol. Love how the gnocchi was also perfectly seared, had no lumps, and basically melts in your mouth. Overall, loved the ambience of this place as well. It's very hip. trendy. Definitely a louder environment but perfect for a weekend night out to enjoy great food. I would recommend making reservations. I think my friend and I probably just got lucky because we went a little bit earlier on a Friday night. Also wanna mention all of the wait staff was amazing. Food was served very quickly and we had no issues with any of our orders. I seriously cannot wait to come back here and try every single thing on the menu!

There's alway that nice factor of trying someplace new. This was a find from one of our friend…read more Which was also a hit from another friend who's dined before. We had a dinner reservation last Saturday which we showed up a little early to have a cocktail before hand. It's located inside of a strip mall with loads of parking. A decent size patio seating. When you walk in, you're greeted with the hostess who were amazing. Right infront of you is the bar area. That itself isn't big at all. There's a few seat along the bar area and that's about it. Also inside dining isn't big as well. Restaurants wasn't massive but nice and quaint and very busy. We were told that if we wanted to grab a drink and take it outside to a spot while we wait for our table it would be fine. They would come get us once it's ready. Cocktails and wine menu was quite nice. They do allow you to bring up to two bottles for a corkage fee. Which we did take advantage of. But beforehand, started off with their smoke and sour cocktails. Mezcal, lime, hibiscus juice, farm egg whites and cherry bitters. It was quite delicious and that smoked mezcal, wow. If you like mezcal, it's worth trying. Bar area isn't big so we had to stand there and wait for our drink. Maybe a 10 to 15 minutes later, we were informed our table was ready. We were seated right behind the bar area for a table for four. I believe Jonathan was our waiter. Very sweet and friendly. Also, it did seemed like a lot of regulars. All the staff members seem to know everyone that was dining. Menu is limited but quite impressive. We started off with a few shared plates before the entrees. -Ember roasted red beets with preserved lemon crèma, spiced pumpkin seeds, pickled Fresno chilis and mint. Wow, it was delicious. The flavors with the beets, kiss kiss. -Smoke trout toast- blisters cherry tomatoes, candy beets, wild arugula, crème fraiche and lemon. This was top dish for starters from all of us. The flavor of the trout was the star of the dish. Highly recommend. -Mushrooms flatbread- shiitake, buna shimeji and oyster mushrooms, tarragon, fiore di Latte mozzarella and crème fraiche. Mushrooms lovers with amazing variety all combined together for a delicious bite. -Spicy scampi flatbread- rock shrimp, parsley, garlic, Calabrian chilis and parmigiano reggiano. It's literally having a seafood scampi but on a flatbread. Wow wow, favorite out of the two flatbread. Definitely recommend. Entrees, Manila clams and salt spring mussels tossed in spaghetti with Calabrian chilis and parsley. The flavors were excellent. Simple but very tasty. -Crispy gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, basil in a Parmesan fondue. It's alway a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. And the elk which was maybe a special. Not quite sure the whole description but it was very tasty. Plus it was very tender and cooked perfectly and mixed with a sauce and topped with crispy onions. Another hit. Lastly we actually had room left for dessert which was the bread pudding. Hot with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect way to end an amazing meal. The service was great. Food was excellent and highly recommended. Each dish had its unique taste that was delicious. Everything ordered was outstanding and no crumbs were left. We would definitely be back.

I'd give Riley 10 stars if I could…read more We visited the Simi Valley Market Broiler at 4 PM the day before Father's Day to celebrate my sister's birthday. It was my mom, my sister, my son, and me. The food was great, and although it was quiet when we arrived, it became very busy by the end of our meal. What truly stood out, though, was our waitress, Riley. She had the perfect balance that is honestly hard to find. She wasn't overly friendly or overbearing, but she also wasn't distant or robotic. She was simply genuine, attentive, calm, and incredibly thoughtful. Our table was a little chaotic at times. My mom accidentally spilled an entire glass of water all over the table, and Riley handled it with such grace and calmness that she immediately put everyone at ease. She never made us feel embarrassed or like we were inconveniencing her. Toward the end of the meal, my sister quietly snuck out because she didn't want anyone singing Happy Birthday to her, and my son went with her. Riley was so thoughtful that she packed up my son's ice cream (which we didn't even realize came with his meal) along with my sister's birthday sundae that we also didn't know was included. There was just something really special about her. Riley made us feel welcomed, cared for, and comfortable from beginning to end. We will absolutely be back, and Riley is a huge reason why.
