We have been to Cajun Kitchen for many years. We dined there on Friday, September 17. We think they have the BEST crawfish. We don't like to complain or try to get anything free but the 6 pounds we received was very mushy. I asked my husband if I should say something? My husband said no. So we kept trying to eat it. The waiter came by and asked how is everything? I told him everything is good but the crawfish is really bad. It's not the Cajun Kitchen special crawfish that we always crave and drool over. The waiter offered a 20% discount off the crawfish. We said okay that's fine. Anyway, the owner reached out to me this morning and offered to comp the 6 pounds crawfish. They really do care about their customers. We will be forever customers at Cajun Kitchen. Can't wait to go back when crawfish is back in season. The taste of the food itself was okay , there wasnt anything bursting with flavor it was more so bland .I believe the box that they put the food in makes the food soggy/ makes it sweat . At first we were the only table at dinner so I was a little nervous about that, being that it's my first time here. Boy did that feeling go away fast. We got a total of 10 lbs of crawfish along with scallops and razor clams. The only thing worth mentioning is the crawfish. Discovered this restaurant on UberEats (it was the second option on the main page and seeing pictures of crayfish made me suddenly crave it) and it is probably the best find I've made so far during this lockdown. We kept it simple and ordered 4 lbs of crawfish (2lbs garlic and 2lbs Cajun, both medium spicy), Chef's special fried rice (which comes with all the toppings) and garlic bread. This is some of THE BEST crawfish I've ever had. Perfect flavor and spiciness (we have a slight preference for the garlic over the Cajun, but both are good), and there was SO MUCH MEAT. And so juicy!! The food was packaged very nicely so we didn't make a huge mess either. And portions were good value. It's been awhile since I've eaten here. I don't normally make my way here but since my friend was in the area we decided to stop in for a late dinner. It wasn't busy so we got sat right away. I most definitely regret ordering DoorDash from here! People who complain about hospital food haven't eaten here. I gave two stars because the food was piping hot upon delivery but that's it. That's it! I ordered shrimp fried rice and chicken wings. Half of the chicken wings are BBQ and half are plain. I also ordered bread pudding. To start, you get a lot of rice in your order. Enough for 4 people. It had a good amount of shrimp in it but it was gross. It tasted gross and bland at the same. The shrimp wasn't spoiled. The rice just tasted odd and inedible. Bland as well. There was no doctoring the flavor. It was bad. Yuck! The plain chicken wings tasted like old grease. The BBQ chicken wings tasted like the plain chicken wings doused in barbecue sauce, which were not good. No bueno. To add insult to injury, I ordered bread pudding. Why, oh why did I do that!?? Think thin sliced bread dunked in milk and sugar and topped with whiskey sauce that tastes three days old. Not tasty at all. So disappointing because I really wanted to like this place. This is the 3rd time I've been here and by far the worst. Each experience seemed to go down in quality. The things they did wrong: Service was slow even though it was only 2-3 tables in addition to ours. NO crab legs. Came specifically for the crab legs. The ones they did have (snow crab) were $40/lb. Turney necks were dry and tasted reheated rather than freshly made. Margarita machine was still "warming up." Which means they don't get to their restaurant early enough to get everything ready, they get there when they open so if you want anything that may take time you'd have to wait. I ordered the garlic and crab noodles. Maybe it was the lack of crab legs or my hate for thick noodles, but they were subpar. Also, I could could the pieces of crab meat. Not a lot of it. Waiter nicely tried to box our leftovers but did it gloveless and became argumentative when a concern was raised. We had to keep asking for things and giving reminders over and over to get what we needed. The things they did right: Opened the doors and let us in. Needless to say, I will not be coming back! My first experience was DELIGNTFUL, the second was so-so and this one was down right horrible. It was also my BIRTHDAY dinner. We ordered through Uber Eats. We had the kitchen special and garlic blend crawfish, curry snails and chicken cracklin. Not sure if it was an off day for them but the food was not good. The crawfish were bland and we could tell that they mixed in some frozen crawfish. It wasn't because we had delivery either as we are ok eating cold crawfish. The curry snails had a good flavor, but the snails were too small to eat them. I am talking too small to even fit a toothpick inside of the shell to reach the meat. The only option was to either risk hyperventilating sucking the pea sized meat out or crack the shells open with your teeth. Both options obviously not ideal. This was my first time having this kind of crawfish! The Thai basil was really good, so much more flavorful than all the other crawfish boils I've had before. Really makes me regret all those pounds of crawfish I've bought from the front HEB over the years haha. We ordered Thai basil crawfish, garlic butter crawfish, tamarind crabs, and crab fried rice. The Thai basil crawfish was great and I loved the tamarind crabs too. Crabs were really crunchy had a good tang from the tamarind. This place is a little farther down Bellaire so I don't come too often, but last night was great! I took some out of town family to eat here and we tried all three sauces. Cajun Kitchen is a Vietnamese-Cajun fusion restaurant located near Chinatown in Houston. I came with a large group of five (plus three kids) for dinner, and was extremely impressed by the creative fusion dishes here. We started our meal with a bowl of the gumbo (which came with white rice)--the flavor of this dish was a little bit underwhelming and not particularly memorable. We then had the garlic noodles with real lump crabmeat, and it was amazing! The noodles were so flavorful but not greasy, and the texture and subtle flavor of the flaky crabmeat were the perfect complements. We also had the loaded fries, which were topped with turkey neck meat (what??), a flavored mayo/aioli, and a fried egg. This dish was also surprisingly delicious--the fries were nice and crispy, and the turkey neck meat was so tender, succulent, and flavorful--I never would have though to use turkey neck meat in anything, but this dish really impressed me. Finally, we had the "Fatass" combo to share--this combo came with two pounds of crawfish (which were unfortunately not in season and extremely tiny with very little actual meat), a half pound of jumbo shrimp (hearty and delicious), blue crab legs, corn, and potatoes. We also got an order of sausage on the side. We got this combo with "the Kitchen" special flavoring, which was spicy and delicious. I recently had a pound of shrimp,with corn and potatoes delivered. Garlic butter medium spicy. The delivery service was okay however the food was subpar, at least compared to a few years back. The shrimp was tasteless. And the garlic butter had no heat to it. It seems the shrimp was cooked separately and then stirred in a garlic butter sauce so it didn't have a chance to actually soak up the flavor. Same for the potatoes and corn. read more

Alright if I had to rate this place on service alone, it would get a 1 star because service is slow! Really really slow! So I hope you have a few hours because this is not a place you want to go to for a quick in and out. The shrimp was huge and they have oysters, different crabs, etc. The kitchen sauce was different and includes lemon and orange flavors mixed in with their seasoning and garlic. I absolutely loved it! It was delicious and the crawfish was cooked well. The shrimp was overdone because it was hard to fill the shells off but still good. They have a fatass bundle and an XL fatass bundle that might be the better way to go.. XL included 5lbs of crawfish, 1lb of shrimp, crabs and corn and potatoes in your choice of sauce and spice level. We ordered that and then some for 4 people. The appetizers, crawfish bread was good. Not my favorite cause I thought it could be crispier but it was smothered with sauce on top. The crawfish puffs were yum! Crispy on the outside.. Small pieces of crawfish meat and a load of soft cream cheese on the inside.. I wish the crawfish was mixed into the cream cheese instead of sitting on top with the chuck of cream cheese on bottom, but it was still rich and delicious! The boudin balls had awesome flavors and were definitely not dry on the inside. I've had better but they do it pretty well here. We checked in through Yelp and got 5% off our entire bill! Make sure you get what you ordered! I think they tried getting away with less than a pound of shrimp.. We literally had ~8 of them.. Not a pound! But we said something and the manager brought out a few more. But come mon! I'm not sure if they weigh your order and you get the exact lbs you ask for so be careful. At least they tried to fix it. This place used to be good, but not anymore. The crawfish were not as fresh and good as I expected in Mid-late March. The tamarind crab was dried, and unflavored just like they fried the crab then poured the sauce over. The customer service is bad, if am not saying rude. They provided the needed services like give you drink, took your order, food came out on time....but not the pleasant restaurant service style. There was not a single smile from the servers the entire time., except the busboy whom I asked to take a picture for us(my husband's bd). If you are the kind of person just want OK-good food and don't care about the atmosphere, then you are fine. They had the buy 6 get 1lb free. We got 8 n they charged us 8, so we had to tell them. They adjusted that but no pleasant or nice word in sense of apology, matter of fact, he acted like we are annoying. They also charged us a coconut snail dish for $15.00. The thick black menu I saw was $10.50, so I asked has the price gone up, he brought out a new single sheet beige menu and showed us it was $15. In addition, we got 1 1b shrimp, 6 Thai oysters, 6 viet oysters (which is cooked), onion rings, garlic crab noodles, 6 lemon garlic chicken wings, 6 crispy chicken wings and a bucket of 6 premium beers. We had also ordered the cluster of snow crab but they had forgot it so we just cancelled the order. It was still plenty of food for us. Very disappointing. We've orders here many times and although the restaurant is notorious for inconsistency in quality there we once a time they produced amazing food. Those days are long gone. Which is why we keep coming back. Other times, hoit's overcooked, too spicy or not spicy enough (inconsistent spice levels) or simply not fresh ingredients. Today they have really outdone themselves by dishing out rancid fish and crawfish. Took one bit of the fried catfish and spit it right back out. Even then I thought Ok well that's unfortunate. Then I took a bite of the crawfish and my gawd it was awful. Same rancid disgusting mess. Even after spitting out the food the rancid taste lingered in my mouth. This is quite pricey for crawfish especially when you have to order sides (staple potatoes and sausage) ala carte! The current market price for 1pound is $8.99 but $9.99 if you want the thai basil or kitchen flavor. They also charge for extra garlic which other places do not. I came with 3 friends and we got seated fairly quick on a Sunday night around 7:30pm. It was crowded but service was terrible. We ended up ordering 2 bowls of three pounds of the kitchen flavor for two of the guests and two pounds of garlic and two pounds of kitchen. They first delivered the three pound kitchen crawfish then ours two pound of garlic came out. The other two pounds of kitchen came out about 10 minutes later. 15 minutes in we're still waiting for my friends three pounds of kitchen and after letting our server (or multiple servers) know, it's like they didn't remember and said they would check back with the kitchen. They never came back. 20 minutes in, we had to call the server back and let them know we still hadn't gotten the order. We told the lady server that if the order didn't get processed yet, to cancel because we didn't want to wait especially since we were almost done eating. The lady comes back and tell us the order slip "must have fallen" and that they can cancel the order since it didn't go through yet. This is terrible customer service in my opinion! All they could do is give an apology and then another server puts an empty bowl in front of my friend as an extra bowl for us to put the shells in. It was ironic and sad at the same time for my friend. Other restaurant managers or staff I know would have gone through with the order, comped it or gave something else. My friend was hungry and for him to wait and watch us eat our crawfish was just wrong. I wasn't amazed by this place. The crawfish was not large, they even charge if you want a bigger crawfish size so I see this place like delta and spirit airlines. Nickeling and diming you for everything. As for the flavors, the kitchen is not that special. It's just a bunch of spices, citrus to make it sweet and onions. It was a little sweet for me. The garlic was just ok even as a medium, it'll make you sweat. Instead of the garlic flavor being on the outside of the shell, the crawfish barely took on any garlic flavor itself unless I dipped it back into the sauce. read more
