After nine years of lunches and dinners, I just had to come back and say thank you. In a city that's constantly changing with fancy new tourist spots or quick grab and go windows, this place is a constant. It hasn't changed, and that's exactly why I love it. When I walk in and grab a seat, I feel right at home. It's casual, it's comfortable, and it's the real New Orleans. The food is just as good today as it was nearly a decade ago. I find myself constantly craving their po-boys and gumbo. Whether it's the hot fish, the stuffed peppers, or the mashed potatoes, you can tell everything is made with quality ingredients and a lot of love. The family that runs this business has a huge heart for the community, and it shows. If you are a local looking for authentic Cajun food that stays true to its roots, look no further. This is the kind of staple we are lucky to have.

I drive over, which is easy to locate since it is literally right behind Joggers and park in the 1 of 4 parking spots to call and let them know I was there. The chef, maybe owner Biddy, walks out with my food and hands me the plates. It's all packaged and because of corona I didnt want to touch anything till I got home. I get home and of course my fish plate was missing. I was so craving that and hungry so I called right away and said I'd have to drive back over since they forgot it and said I would eat my boudin first since I was so hungry. I called when I arrived and he said he would cook a fresh fish plate for me since the other was greasy and sat out. He apologized and offered me a beverage but I kindly declined. He got the plate out to me within minutes and I drove home. After eating, I must say this is delicious food. Fried comfort food is what is needed right now with everything going on. I am a boudin snob and that boudin was pretty damn good. The fish was a huge portion, also delicious and crunchy. The mac n cheese was creamy, almost like an alfredo sauce on top. You can choose the type of seasonings you want (Cajun, spicy seafood, garlic butter, lemon pepper, or a combination of multiple),and you can choose your spice/heat level (mild to extra hot) too. I love the customization! Their seafood "combos" are a fantastic deal. For example, for just $20, you get 1lb of shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage slices. This is my favorite go-to item here for sure. Because it's messy, if you're eating there, they provide you with disposable gloves and a wet wipe, which we all welcome lol Their Chinese takeout is great too and always comes with generous portions. One thing to note is that the takeout items tend to be a little low on salt for my tastes, but that's an easy fix with a salt shaker. I think it's a good thing especially for people who might have dietary restrictions on their sodium intake. Remember, it's easy to add salt to a dish, but nearly impossible to remove it! They punched my ordered food card and told me that it was OK to wait outside while it was cooked. When we came back inside sometime later, they said that it was not prepared and we didn't pay for it. I was so confused and then looked at our receipt and sure enough they hadn't rung it up...but why?? Why repeat my order, call it out to the person cooking, ring up everything else, punch the food card, tell me I can wait outside until it's done only to tell me later that it wasn't paid for??!! No remorse, no swift action to correct so I can pay and they expedite the order. Just a complete nonchalant attitude as if I was trying to swindle them or something. One of them just laughed. It was rude and unethical - they are unorganized and don't have a clue when it comes to customer service recovery. I've been coming here for years, and there have been multiple times when the way I was spoken to felt aggressive, dismissive, and disrespectful, especially as a Black customer. On my most recent visit, I sat for almost 15 minutes before I was able to order. The taller Arab gentleman working there spoke to me with an unnecessary tone and attitude that made the experience uncomfortable. I'm not claiming to know what he personally thinks or feels about Black people--I'm speaking specifically about how I was treated and how that treatment came across to me. The food may be good, but customer service matters too. Everyone who walks through the door deserves to be acknowledged and treated respectfully, regardless of their ethnicity or background.
