This was the best crawfish I have had
    Lynn W.

Oh yes this is the BEST in the city. Don't debate me seriously I never drive to Westbank except for work.I heard about this black owned place that has been around for 30 years and decided to visit; especially since there are no others black owned who do seafood. Crawfish were perfect. Loved the spices in them and corn & potatoes. My husband loved the sausage and turkey necks. Yes, this is a WIN! My new crawfish spot.

As a general rule I am drawn towards authentic & locally/family owned restaurants. In New Orleans there are tons of seafood places to choose from and it can be overwhelming. While I was looking through Yelp in my hotel room, J&J Seafood stuck out to me. It is located outside of the normal "tourist" area, is family owned & operated, had great reviews, & wasn't extremely expensive. It was a short 10 minute drive from my hotel. The staff was helpful, conversational, & very nice. I wanted to get a good sampling of what they had to offer and experience a boil while visiting Nola. So I got a pound each of shrimp, crawfish, crab, & potatoes and rounded out my order with corn and sausage. I excitedly drove back the hotel, changed clothes (in case dropped food on my nice clothes), spread out the newspaper, dumped out the food, said a prayer of thanks, & dug in. Man! This was an amazing experience! The food was wonderfully seasoned, very juicy, and perfectly cooked. It was the best crawfish I've ever had and the shrimp was just as extraordinary. I almost finished this entire spread. My stomach was happy. If you're in NO and looking for great boiled seafood, you gotta check out J&J Seafood.

My favorite spot for crawfish. I've been going to them faithfully for over 15 years and their food is the most consistent. The crawfish are NEVER dirty and ALWAYS seasoned well. I'm a crawfish fiend, and there are times when I won't even go out to get crawfish if I can't get it from J&Js.

Continues to be the absolute best crawfish I've had! I've tried several other options on the West Bank and they do not come close to being as fresh, as flavorful, as clean and as tasty as J&J ! I no longer order from anywhere else. These are superb. Also recently tried the crab legs and those were fantastic!

This is a place that you must go into a real neighborhood to find. If you are looking for boiled seafood, this place is the truth. The closer you get to Mardi Gras time, the longer the lines get for this place. The flavor for the crawfish and turkey necks are on point like a sniper's scope. This place is not a torist trap place, with a huge fancy building. You just have some local Algiers, New Orleanians that knows what great flavor is when it comes to boiled seafood. Many seafood options, but I just do my crawfish and turkey necks here...happily! Definitely let these people test your taste buds.

5lbs of their crawfish, wish I'd have grabbed 5 more.

The texture reviews had me second guessing myself at the door but I'd read enough to know Acme was the place to take the leap. Started with a half dozen charbroiled oysters -- strategic, just in case and immediately wanted to order another round. But I was welcomed in to the bar with one open seat. The staff was very welcoming with a bit of sarcasm, which is probably something that I look forward to everywhere. I asked for recommendations, having looked at the menu and they handed me another special menu of the day stating obviously I hadn't read the whole thing yet. I started with the snapper appetizer and I have Tse with the coconut lime broth. It was absolutely delicious, followed by the crawfish capellini. I was surprised by the amount of crawfish in the dish and the chili flavor, which was absolutely delicious. I have been hearing about the hush puppies for a while so I had to try some, especially because my colleague raved about it at dinner the night before. Lastly, I had the baked drum which was delicious light and flaky. The flavors were incredible. I personally thought that the bread was a little overly grilled and chard, but overall the dishes still pretty good. I cannot say more about the dessert. It's absolutely one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. The sticky carrot cake toffee cake with cream cheese ice cream was just on the next level. I would try to come here if I was in the area every time.

As soon as they arrived, I picked one up and immediately thought, "Wow, this is incredibly light." Anyone who eats crabs regularly knows that's usually a bad sign. When I opened it, it was completely hollow inside--nothing but an empty shell. A crab that is hollow like that was dead before it was cooked. I never took a single bite. I showed it to our server, Remy B., who apologized and said she would let the manager know. She took the plate away, so I assumed the issue was being handled. When the bill arrived, I was still charged for the crabs. I asked to speak with a manager and explained exactly what happened. She confirmed that I had notified the server and that the plate had been taken away. Then she told me that it didn't matter because their policy is to not give refunds or remove food from a check. Let that sink in: they acknowledged that I didn't eat the food, acknowledged that the server removed it, and still charged me for it. A restaurant standing behind its food is the bare minimum. Charging customers for food that was clearly unacceptable and never eaten is ridiculous. The lack of concern from management was even more disappointing than the crab itself. The only reason this review isn't 1 star is because the young man at the host stand was friendly, professional, and the one bright spot of the entire experience.

The calamari tasted like it came straight from a frozen box. My husband ordered the blackened redfish with extra-charge sides, but after a long wait the entire meal arrived ice cold. They took it back and apparently microwaved it, because the fish came back rubbery and overcooked. My French 75 was watered down and easily the worst I've ever had. I paid $27 for the fried shrimp platter, but the shrimp were tiny, popcorn-sized pieces with mediocre fries. The coleslaw was the worst part--it smelled rancid, tasted sour, and I had to spit it out after one bite. The manager offered a 30% discount, but that simply offset the InKind promotion that brought us there in the first place. To make matters worse, I'm now back at my hotel feeling sick after dinner.
