Cajun City Seafood & Wings (Katy) Soft Opening Review
Listen... Katy, we might have a problem.
I stopped by the soft opening of Cajun City Seafood & Wings, and the place was PACKED. Not "a few people checking it out" packed. I mean "everybody and their cousin heard about it" packed. After tasting the food, I completely understand why.
First things first: Lotus, y'all might need to start looking over your shoulder because Cajun City's Signature Sauce is DA TRUTH. That sauce isn't playing around. It's rich, buttery, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. Some Cajun spots drown seafood in sauce and call it a day. Cajun City actually makes the seasoning stand out. Every bite tasted fresh and intentional.
While waiting on my order, I overheard several customers excited that there's finally a location in Katy. Apparently, folks are happy they no longer have to make that drive to the Northside every time the seafood cravings hit.
Now let me give credit where it's due. There were only two employees and the manager working during all that madness, but they kept the line moving and took care of customers with great attitudes. That's impressive.
A special shoutout to Yaya P., the cashier who took my order. She was friendly, welcoming, patient, and professional. When you're standing in a crowded restaurant hungry enough to eat the menu, that kind of customer service matters.
I ordered two items from the Happy Hour Menu (Monday-Saturday, 12 PM-6 PM).
Turkey Neck & Shrimp Combo - $11.99
This meal came with:
1/2 pound shrimp (12 count, shell-on, no head)
One massive turkey neck
One corn
One potato
The turkey neck was huge. Not "pretty big." Huge. The kind that makes you double-check the receipt because surely somebody accidentally gave you extra food. The shrimp were fresh, juicy, and seasoned all the way through.
Honestly, it felt like I paid for the shrimp and they threw the turkey neck, corn, and potato in there out of pure generosity.
Cajun Seafood Fried Rice & Strawberry Slush - $11.99
This fried rice was loaded with shrimp, crawfish, peas, carrots, egg, and green onions. Loaded means LOADED. Not one of those fried rice situations where you spend half the meal searching for the seafood like a treasure hunt.
Every bite had flavor, and the strawberry slush was the perfect sweet finish.
Compared to some other Cajun spots I've tried, Cajun City doesn't just rely on spice. The food actually has depth of flavor. You can taste the seasoning, the freshness, and the effort.
Needless to say, I'll be back. There are still plenty of menu items calling my name, and I fully intend to answer. read more
