Cake Tasting
Brianna L.

Pros: * Amazing cake; you can tell it is made from scratch; Recommend the Toasted coconut cake, chocolate cake, and the chocolate truffle filling. * Great price for cake tasting - $25 for 7 flavors; everything was labeled and easy to understand Cons: * Disorganized; did not give us half our order and did not have our order ready when we went to pick it up later - I did not feel that I could trust them to have our actual cake ready * Pricey dessert tasting - $25 for 6 desserts. We ended up with 10 desserts, but only 4 types, so I am not sure if they gave us extra or gave us less. * Did not ask us if we had dessert requests and ended up with 4 macarons. I don't care for macarons, so it felt like a waste. * Terrible tarts; this was disappointing since it was the one dessert I was looking for Extra: * The cake was so good that I would order for a not as important event. Something that is casual and doesn't have a timeline.

We had two cakes made for my son's 1st birthday. It was basketball/nike theme and both cakes turned out AMAZING! Per usual, we ordered our favorite Banana Truffle flavor. The guests loved it & we loved it! ALWAYS A HIT with the cakes we get made here! Will always be our go-to cake shop!

The truffle banana and passion fruit cakes were delicious. The buttercream frosting with chocolate roses were beautiful with modern elegance. They delivered on time and were very easy to work with. We added faux tiers, added decor, Jen answered questions quickly about dimensions for getting a cake stand and various options throughout our planning process. Very easy to work with and great product and service!

The staff/artists made it so easy to order. I literally said "I want a birthday cake for a grown adult who loves SpongeBob and it's for Pride weekend too" and they said "Say less, gay SpongeBob it is" and made this amazing cake.

The Fabulous Cake Girls were amazing!!! The banana chocolate truffe was to die for!!! I couldn't stop talking about the cake and still to this day want more. Communication was great, they exceeded the design I wanted and the cake was so delicious and moist. They also had no problem adding the gold details we requested. Being a destination wedding, I was happy that we went to get a sample box because our original cake flavors we were thinking of getting were not our final choices after tasting the samples. Thank you ladies for a beautiful cake, hopefully soon I can get my hands on another slice of banana chocolate truffle yummmm. Love Lindsey and Amber

Absolutely incredible. They made the most incredible wedding cake for us, I truly couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful cake and it was SO delicious as well!! The cake topper we had custom made went perfectly and we are just obsessed!!

SpongeBob cake

This place is amazing!!! They made the best cake for my daughter's birthday party. The attention to detail was incredible! Cake was done earlier than expected and great service! I hope they get more business from the people that attended our party. Thank you!!

Cake

We ordered cake for our son's 2 year b'day party. The cake tasted stale and was not moist. Most of the cake ended up in trash as no one would eat it. The reason I am giving 2 stars and not 1 is because of presentation and the cake came exactly how we gave the picture, in fact better than picture. I ordered a cake in 2015 from here and that was the best cake I ever had, on a contrary this time was the worst cake in taste and freshness I ever had

Got the everything mochi bagel with cream cheese and the egg & chicken katsu sando. Everything mochi bagel 5/5: so fluffy and light yet still tastes like a bagel. Can be a lil salty on the top where the salt is but contrast with parts that dont have it. Egg sando 5/5: yummy and filling, has cucumber and the milk bread is thick and so fluffy! Chicken katsu sando 5/5: my favorite. I love the spicy mustardy sauce not sure if it's in the actual brown katsu sauce or separate mustard. My bf didnt like it but i loved it! Chicken also juicy and soft. The milk bread is so fluffy and lil sweet and perfect pairing. Interior has lots of tables and seating and they they also have an outdoor patio and they clean the tables frequently which is nice. Recommend!

The boysenberry was the perfect separation for the waves of chocolate and the subtle crunch of the hazelnut toffee type of layer on the very top. There was a space right in front, and when that happens, I have to stop, since I don't get over here much. Friendly good morning, and I took a look at what they had. I got my usual plain croissant, buttery and flaky, and a chocolate croissant, bittersweet chocolatey goodness. The Crookie caught my eye, a salted chocolate chip cookie wrapped in a croissant. This was really good! Nice flavors played off each other well. I also got the double chocolate croissant, that had a chocolate almond filling....amazing! Great place to come to! Parking can be a bit hard here, there is a parking lot next door to it but you have to pay and their minimum was $25. So if you can find street parking snag it right away. When we walked up, it was a busy sunday morning. They have both indoor and outdoor seating here so that's pretty convenient. I wanted to try a couple of different croissants so we ordered the plain, chocolate and ham and cheese. I wish I asked them to warm up the ham and cheese. I think it would've turned out better. I really enjoyed the chocolate and my boyfriend enjoyed his plain croissant. The team here is very attentive. They definitely clean the tables right away ready for the next patron which I appreciate. Great spot to try while visiting San Diego.

5/11/2026 CHOCO CHIP…read morePISTACHIO COOKIE Wow! This was reeeeally good! It was crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! LOCATED INSIDE ANOTHER STORE Located inside a store called Floral Palette, which is a floral shop and specialty gift store. Beautiful store! The sign is big, so you cannot miss it!

We ordered their signature matcha with the Biscoff cold foam, and it was easily my favorite matcha in Gaslamp. The Biscoff adds just the right amount of sweetness, but the matcha still shines through. I kept thinking about it long after I left. The space is just lovely. Lots of natural light, greenery, and a clean, minimal design that somehow still feels warm. It's the kind of café that makes you want to stay a little longer than you planned.
