Cake Tasting
Brianna L.

Pros: * Amazing cake; you can tell it is made from scratch; Recommend the Toasted coconut cake, chocolate cake, and the chocolate truffle filling. * Great price for cake tasting - $25 for 7 flavors; everything was labeled and easy to understand Cons: * Disorganized; did not give us half our order and did not have our order ready when we went to pick it up later - I did not feel that I could trust them to have our actual cake ready * Pricey dessert tasting - $25 for 6 desserts. We ended up with 10 desserts, but only 4 types, so I am not sure if they gave us extra or gave us less. * Did not ask us if we had dessert requests and ended up with 4 macarons. I don't care for macarons, so it felt like a waste. * Terrible tarts; this was disappointing since it was the one dessert I was looking for Extra: * The cake was so good that I would order for a not as important event. Something that is casual and doesn't have a timeline.

We had two cakes made for my son's 1st birthday. It was basketball/nike theme and both cakes turned out AMAZING! Per usual, we ordered our favorite Banana Truffle flavor. The guests loved it & we loved it! ALWAYS A HIT with the cakes we get made here! Will always be our go-to cake shop!

The truffle banana and passion fruit cakes were delicious. The buttercream frosting with chocolate roses were beautiful with modern elegance. They delivered on time and were very easy to work with. We added faux tiers, added decor, Jen answered questions quickly about dimensions for getting a cake stand and various options throughout our planning process. Very easy to work with and great product and service!

The staff/artists made it so easy to order. I literally said "I want a birthday cake for a grown adult who loves SpongeBob and it's for Pride weekend too" and they said "Say less, gay SpongeBob it is" and made this amazing cake.

The Fabulous Cake Girls were amazing!!! The banana chocolate truffe was to die for!!! I couldn't stop talking about the cake and still to this day want more. Communication was great, they exceeded the design I wanted and the cake was so delicious and moist. They also had no problem adding the gold details we requested. Being a destination wedding, I was happy that we went to get a sample box because our original cake flavors we were thinking of getting were not our final choices after tasting the samples. Thank you ladies for a beautiful cake, hopefully soon I can get my hands on another slice of banana chocolate truffle yummmm. Love Lindsey and Amber

Absolutely incredible. They made the most incredible wedding cake for us, I truly couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful cake and it was SO delicious as well!! The cake topper we had custom made went perfectly and we are just obsessed!!

This place is amazing!!! They made the best cake for my daughter's birthday party. The attention to detail was incredible! Cake was done earlier than expected and great service! I hope they get more business from the people that attended our party. Thank you!!

Cake

We ordered cake for our son's 2 year b'day party. The cake tasted stale and was not moist. Most of the cake ended up in trash as no one would eat it. The reason I am giving 2 stars and not 1 is because of presentation and the cake came exactly how we gave the picture, in fact better than picture. I ordered a cake in 2015 from here and that was the best cake I ever had, on a contrary this time was the worst cake in taste and freshness I ever had

The smallest of gestures and niceties are what make leaving the house worth it. GIANDUIA. This cake is nothing you can be prepared for, yet everything you need without setting expectations. The boysenberry was the perfect separation for the waves of chocolate and the subtle crunch of the hazelnut toffee type of layer on the very top. The chocolate mousse was the exact mouth feel needed to separate the rich layers of chocolate cake. I saw, I conquered, and I was yet again impressed by what Extraordinary Desserts so purposefully and gracefully offered. My friends and I were just looking to get a coffee in Little Italy, but when we walked in and saw all the delicious treats we had to try something else as well. I ordered a latte and neglected to tell them it was for here so I was given a paper cup, but they give real cups if you ask. The latte was good, and my friend bought a kitchen sink type cookie with chocolate, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It was warm and gooey good! Another friend tried the gelato and said it was very good. There are a few tables inside and tables out in front outside. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful San Diego weather. The decor and tables definitely gives you an old school Italian neighborhood vibe with Italian markets right next door. Pizza was good, but soggy in the middle. The pasta was good, no complaints there. The sandwich was very lacking in the meat department... It was basically a bread and arugula sandwich. Had very low expectations for the gelato to begin with seeing as the colors were extremely unnatural and the way it was heaped was a clear indication to me that it is not legitimate gelato and unfortunately, I was proven very right. I got the strawberry so that my toddler could have a few few bites and it was so unnatural and weird tasting that she didn't even want any... And if that doesn't say something! My husband got the coffee flavor and he literally took three bites and threw it away as well. I will say, though, on the food front, the prices are reasonable here all things considered, but maybe stick with pasta... based on everything As a whole though, you can likely get a much more legitimate Italian meal somewhere else in the area, but it will probably cost you more.
