I have a minor complaint concerning not being able to speak to the actual technician who will be coming out to my house prior to paying the non refundable diagnostic fee. I called for refrigerator service and the and the answering service said he could not have the technician call me until I paid the non refundable service fee. I wanted to speak with the tech assigned to me so I could ask some questions and assess their customer service and business style. In the future , please allow customers to speak with actual tech performing the service call -- an operator or answering service doesn't have the knowledge to answer questions. The night after we do a large grocery run, our fridge stopped cooling. It was 11pm when I discovered this. In the morning, I frantically called repair places to ask for quotes. Cal State Appliance Repair was first one I called and luckily someone picked up the phone even before regular business hours. They didn't have any openings, but I pleaded as we would have lost all the food and groceries in our fridge. A tech was sent to us at 10AM. Within minutes of looking at our fridge, he said "you have a clogged line where the air from the freezer isn't going to your fridge. This is likely because someone left the door open on the freezer or fridge and the cool air warmed up, later froze and clogged it. Just take everything out, shut off fridge for 24 hours and replug in." "That's it?" I asked. The tech was very certain this is the issue and says he will come back next day if not. I have used this company to repair my oven and for several issues with my GE Monogram fridge. They are not always the cheapest since they only use original parts, but their work is outstanding! Last issue was a leaky water line in the fridge and Felix not only fixed that quickly, but he identified a problem with the icemaker that existed when I bought the house over 10 years ago. CONMAN ALERT Dmitry Kim of Calstate Appliance Repair (213 440 3624) was recommended by someone on Next Door, so I contacted him. He came on time for the first visit and told me I needed to switch some parts, and he collected his deposit of $145. He was supposed to arrive about a week later on a Wednesday, with the parts. 5pm rolls around and so I call him. He tells me some fluffy excuse about being at the doctors and he forgot. Forgot to tell me he's not coming at all? I gave him another chance and we agreed he'd arrive today, around ten am. Well 11am rolls around and he still doesn't show up so I ask him via text if he's still coming. Then he tells me "I'm getting a divorce from my second wife right now". What??? What does any of that have to do with his inability to show up at the time agreed? I fired him right away, and will demand PayPal return my money from this absolute conman scumbag degenerate. He is to be avoided at all costs, unless you enjoy giving your money to thieves. Also, for any Koreans reading this thinking he's Koran, he's not.
