This place is so tasty! I have regularly ordered the ginger pineapple juice and the red snapper. The flavors of the fish (which you need to debone yourself since it is a whole fish) with the fresh cucumber/tomato salad and the sautéed seasoned onions is so good! I also highly recommend the Fried Plantains and chicken Fataya-Pies (both chicken and beef came with our order, but I just favor the chicken one) which are served with a fantastic tomato-like sauce. Getting the appetizer sampler platter was a great introduction to some of the other appetizers. The Senegalese egg rolls came with a sweet chili dipping sauce and back eyed pea fritters were dipped in this nice dark green sauce as seen in the middle of sampler plate. The items are kinda pricey and substituting or adding anything will cost ya! I spent $63.00 for one person just ordering an apptz, n/a beverage, substituting white rice for jolloff rice, adding a FuFu, the entree, and beignets! I would have liked to have seen more items offering Fufu. So, if you've never had West African food, or you're not an adventurous eater, this may not be for you. The flavors are bold and spicey-- think Indian with a kick. My friend, a native of Ghana, was with me and insisted everything we had was great. The server was very helpful and offered to bring me small samples of some of their popular sauces -- such a help for me to decide what to have. I had goat in a dark, flavorful stew. We arrived around noon on a Wednesday. The lobby was clean and orderly. Music videos were playing on the big screen. We were promptly seated and gave our orders. The ginger pineapple drink was so delicious and I tried to drink it as slow as I could. I wanted gulp it down and order another one. But I wanted to save room for my fried snapper and rice. The snapper was absolutely delicious!!!! I couldn't remember what chicken dish my cousin got. He often goes to many parts of Africa and he cooks. He said that his food tasted like what he cooks; so I guess he was very satisfied and said that he would return on his next visit to Vegas. You really have to keep coming back to try everything. Had dinner here with a group of friends and I left with a full stomach and full soul. Everything was top tier from the ambiance, to the food, and most of all the service. It was my first time having senegambian food and Isaiah and Nene came through with the recommendations on what to get and how to eat it! We were welcomed with opened arms and fed with some of the best food in Vegas. We ordered family style and got the appetizer sampler, oxtail stew, bean stew with plantains, red snapper, didi with lamb, athieki, and for dessert the beignets and chakiri for dessert. I promise I'm not lying when I say every single dish was extremely flavorful with complex flavors that'll leave me reminiscing until I come back. The didi with lamb, athieki, and bean stew were my favorites, but you can't go wrong with everything else. First time having West African food it was a great experience. The servers were knowledgeable and explained not only the different dishes, but also the preparation and spices. The ambience was casual for an early Saturday afternoon. We started with the appetizer sampler platter which included Fataya pies, Neem, Akara and fried plantains. We each had a different dish: my wife had the red stew "Chu"; my daughter had the peanut butter stew "Mafe/Domada"; and I had the Egusi soup. We also tried 3 different drinks; Vimto a carbonated soft drink, seneganbian ice tea, and the hit of the show the ginger pineapple juice. Dessert was good with a mango mousse and Chakri which had raisins and couscous in a sweet cream Delicious! The portions were generous and we all had leftovers to take home. OMG, even the potato is good! Located inside Lee's Plaza off of Rainbow and Oakey, there is plenty of parking. Greeted with a warm welcome when we walked in and seated right away. It is not a large restaurant, but very cozy. A bar occupied the rear end of the restaurant with 2 screens playing video from the music in the background. On the left side of the bar, a nice monogram of the restaurants logo so you can take photos. Surrounding the bar, several tables and booths nicely situated to give a sort of cafe feel. That coupled with the conservative art throughout made this spot very homey and inviting. Our server was amazingly friendly. We knew what we wanted, so ordering for us was quick, but it was nice to hear them recite the different flavors and styles when customers asked about specific items. What ordered - Oxtail Stew with white rice - Red stew with lamb and Fufu - Plantains - Hibiscus tea All I can say is Wow. As expressed in the title, even the potato was good. The Oxtail stew had both carrots and Potato, and again omg it was good. Compared to other spots that serve Oxtail as a main, this was even amazing as a take-home. Meaning, serving size was well worth the price. In fact good for 2. Not spicey at all, but the right kick of heat to accommodate the rest of the flavours that make this dish amazing. The lamb? According to Hungry Monster, nom now nom nom. Let's just say, we stayed full for the remainder of the day. All meats were tender. Serving size for both dish could feed 2 people or one very hungry person. Conclusion We'll be back. There are so many dishes on the menu that we definitely have to try. Nyla our waitress was awesome! My mom myself and my friend had never been here before or tried food like this but I kept seeing fufu and the stews that come with and have been dying to find and try it. Our super friendly and knowledgable waitress Nyla prepared us some samples before we made a choice on what we wanted and we will definitely come back because I wanted all of them haha. Ordered dinner for pick on a Friday night and the wait time was longer than the 15-20 minutes estimated time we were given + they were pretty busy which says a lot about how good their food is. My first time trying African food and I will say, it's definitely an acquired taste. It wasn't my fave but it wasn't bad. Being my 1st time here, maybe I should've ordered something else or tried more things from the menu but it was already pretty pricey for what we did order IMO. I got the chicken egusi soup with a side of fufu and my sister got the fish egusi soup because she doesn't eat meat. The egusi soup was spicy - I like spicy but my kids don't so they didn't get to eat much of it. The empanadas were my fave out of everything we ordered. We tried this restaurant on a whim. We love trying new foods and had never tried African Cuisine. The yassa dish was made with grilled chicken and covered in caramelized onions. The Jollof Rice was something different and tasted delicious. My husband had the grilled lamb chops. He wanted them medium rare, but they came out more like a medium well, but had great flavor. The restaurant ambiance is very simple. There is a small bar. There are an assortment of cocktails. The drinks are made with real ginger and hibiscus juice and other different additions not used everyday at most bars. Our server NeNe was wonderful. Very attentive and helpful answering all of our questions. Over all we really liked the food. The biggest drawback would be the prices. We had 2 cocktails and 2 entrees and this came to about $90 before the tip. I did like everything, but that priice point seemed a bit steep. It took us a while to come check it out, as I looked at the menu, & didn't know what to order. We visited on 1/24/25 Friday for lunch around 12n. EVERYTHING we ordered was so good, as my husband said phenomenal! These are the things we had: Senegambian iced tea- it is tea with fresh pineapple juice & lime. Appetizers: 1) Senegalese egg rolls, comes with beef & shrimp with vermicelli noodles. 2) Black eyed pea fritters 3) Empanadas All 3 dishes come with their own distinctive sauce. Main course: 1) Oxtail stew, it has some heat to it 2) Bean Stew 3) Grilled chicken with rice These main dishes come with a choice of Jollof rice or Jasmine. Trust me you want to try the Jollof rice. One way to deal with a chilly Vegas winter: go on an African safari in search of some exotic hot dish. Yelp brought me to this place. Being my first time, the server was very nice and offered a tour guide of some sample tastings. How thoughtful! I sampled the Peanut Butter Stew, Egusi Soup, Okra Stew and Red Stew. I decided on the Egusi Soup Vegetarian version for my lunch special. I also ordered the Senegambian Iced Tea. The first sip was sweet and tangy with pineapple and lime juice combo. The Egusi soup came with a ball of Jollof rice. She instructed me to use my hands and grab the soup with the Jollof rice. The ball is like playdough. It tasted potato-like. The Egusi itself is something like marinated vegetables that reminds me of collard green stew with interesting spices from a faraway land. The Egusi and Jollof combo was exotic indeed. Now I can see why the original Egusi version with fish & seafood would make a better combo with the Jollof rice. It's worth the trip! I am West African and a foodie so I will try anything once . The Senegalese/Gambian fusion is a hit for me and I'll be back... I had the okra stew with fufu and hubby had jollof rice with stew. Both were a HIT oh! I appreciated the samples prior to us ordering because the spices and blend of some traditional west African dishes were different (not bad but different) than what I am used to. The jollof rice was VERY tasty. I won't start the war here on Yelp about who has the best jollof, but eh Senegal maybe giving Nigeria a run for their naira. The okra was also made differently than what I am used to but VERY tasty. If you are used to the "slime" of traditional okra soup, you won't have it in this dish. The flavors were flavoring with this dish as well. I ate my stew with fufu. If was the right size for me, but not enough o finish the stew. I ate most of the stew by itself which I am not complaining about. We both ordered hibiscus tea for our meals. If you've ever had Jamaica Sorrel, it's similar but again different. The juice was sweet with a kick of sour. I would try the other juices for our next visit. That pineapple ginger sounded good as well. The restaurant is also super cute! I loved all the art, murals and their playlist was a nice background music that set good vibes. Our server Andrea (I think) was also very knowledgeable about the food, spices, drinks, all the things on the menu and was very helpful. Final note: African food is not fast. Yes you are in a restaurant but please don't expect the food to come immediately after you've ordered. We waited some 10-15 or 20 minutes for our food. The place had a good amount of people, but it wasn't extremely busy. Service was extremely slow though. We ordered black eyed peas fritters with onion sauce, oxtail stew with fufu, and yassa with chicken and jollaf rice. I wasn't going to order the black eyed peas fritters because I knew our entrees were going to be plenty, but I'm glad I did! The fritters were very soft and the inside was almost very soft muffin like. Our server told us to not expect to see black eyed peas, but they are there, we just can't see it because it was blended and mashed. One of my favorite appetizers and will definitely get again next time. Oxtail stew with fufu has great flavor! The oxtail stew was tender, but not completely fall off the bone tender. I really like the flavor, but I think they could've used less salt next time. I'm not sure what fufu is made of, but it appears and feels like a giant potato dumpling. My second time was just as amazing, this time Jewel was my server and I could not say anything but great things about her. I made sure to order something different this time, the oxtail stew. Wow.
