Beef, chicken & shrimp yakisoba
Sakol M.

I was driving around and found this place worth checking out for lunch. Inside has ample seating area. There's two big screens with World Cup soccer game playing. Service is slow, but the order taker was nice and I was in no rush. I ordered the beef, chicken & shrimp yakisoba with a side of veggie egg rolls. Both came to my table fresh and piping hot. The flavors were okay. My mom's egg rolls are hard to beat. Next time, I will come back and try more exotic dishes, like the curry goat and egusi soup!

Wow I was truely impressed by this place!! Not only do they have African cuisine but Japanese too. My friend from Lagos said I should try Nigerian food so he took me here and said it was the best in town. I have to admit I was a bit nervous bc I know how spicy it can get. Let me tell ya it was spicy but I tolerate it well. The service was great and the owner came out to greet everyone! Food was terrific! Started with goat soup . if you've never had goat, it can get bony but the meat is delicious similar to lamb. Then we also had okra soup with a starchy ball (don't remember the name.) but you eat this with your hands. Then I had oxtail stew boy was that delicious. If you haven't tried Nigerian food, please go here. Check this place out. You might like it.

First let me say that their Jollof rice is amazing. I've eaten at this restaurant on several different occasions and I have yet to be disappointed. I had the snapper and Jollof rice, okra stew and puff puff. Please go check out Mama Putts you will thank me later

If you are looking for authentic African food this is the spot! I love everything I get from their menu and they have better options than other African restaurants I've been in Las Vegas. I've taken friends here and they have gone back to this place several times already.

The food was excellent. I walked in and immediately knew I was about to eat amazing African food! If you want some Nigerian/Cameroon food this would be your spot to get exactly that! It's authentic & delicious! And I say authentic not only because the style of the food but the welcoming and friendly service! & you have some music in the background to put a cherry in top! Great job! My boyfriend and I are so glad we found you!

Omg I just love going here. This is the best African restaurant I've been to out here in Vegas. The egusi soup never fails me. I love, love, love the flavors. The service is always amazing as well. This is the first time I had the puff puff balls and they are great as well. The restaurant has a good vibe, I always get my good to go but if I decided to eat in, it would also be an amazing experience. Thank you for the amazing food and service : )

Red snapper and jollof rice

Really wanted some African food so I came to try Mama Putt for the first time. David provided good and friendly service. I had the red snapper and it was delicious. It was cooked perfectly too. My daughter had the wings and enjoyed it too. I would come back and recommend this restaurant if you want some good red snapper.

Beef Egussi & fufu
Janiya H.

Absolutely love Mama Putt. I came here when they first opened and coming back again, I love the new decor of the place. This is truly a hidden gem with beautiful owners. They are super nice, funny, & helpful. I've tried the red snapper and Jellof rice. Which both were amazing. This time I tried the Egussi -beef & fufu & that was amazing as well. Very flavorful. Truly a peace of love here. Will be back again.

Oxtail

This place is truly a hidden gem. Great food and excellent service. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

They give you the cutest little woven basket to carry while you shop, which makes the whole experience feel extra charming and whimsical. I ended up getting at least one of almost everything to share with my family, and the egg with shiso leaf onigiri was my favorite. Everything else we tried was great as well. Chamon will definitely stay on my list of places to revisit whenever I'm back in Las Vegas. It's also absolutely worth making the trip off the Strip for.

I was 9th in line. I've came here twice and first time the negitoro bowl with the uni and crab was sold out for that day. The negitoro bowl honestly tasted worse than it looked. It just tasted bitter and bland, no sweet fresh ocean taste like other chirashi bowls I've had. Maybe it was the egg yolk soy sauce that ruined the flavor for me. It just did not taste like high quality ingredients. I even got extra crab. It was half a crab leg for $6. The snow crab honestly tasted no better than the frozen grocery store stuff, nothing like the fresh stuff from a proper sushi place. The first time, I tried a tempura bowl. It was good, more authentic than most Japanese places in the states, but not super amazing like I need to go back to eat it again. The best food here is their onigiri. The variations and recipes can top the ones found in Japan, very authentic. They do put a little too much rice so you get full fast and can't try too many. They do not keep very well and you need to eat them same day because the rice hardens in the fridge or the fish starts stinking and goes bad! So pick your poison if you wanna buy a lot. The other stuff is not worth standing in line for if you've had authentic Japanese food in Japan or in another bigger city with top notch sushi or fresh fish. I'm from LA and the tempura at Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr in LA is better. There is better fish and rice to be found in LA too like the quality is similar to Sugar Fish and KazuNori. These are very easy to get into spots in LA you don't need to stand in line so I'm surprised to find the crazy hype here. I admit the presentation is nice and the shop's vibes feel very much like you've been transported to Japan. But the cooking quality and flavors are only slightly above average. 3 stars for the cooked food. 4 stars for onigiri. I probably will never come back again now I've tried their signature dishes and see that it's mediocre. The food is not worth the lines it has at all, especially if you're from a big city with good Japanese restaurants. Maybe come here for the Japan nostalgia and vibes or if you've never had authentic Japanese food. If you want to splurge, apparently Kabuto across strip mall parking lot nearby is VERY good. Top 3-5 omakase in the country.

My family made a reservation because they wanted to celebrate my birthday, so I was really looking forward to it. When it is your birthday, even a small detail feels a little more important. You want the night to feel special, smooth, and happy from the beginning. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there seemed to be a small issue with the reservation, and the table we were given was much smaller than expected. Since we were there as a family for a birthday dinner, it felt uncomfortable at first. I have to be honest -- my mood was not great in the beginning. It was one of those moments where you think, "Oh no, is this how the night is going to start?" But then the food started coming out, and Hachi completely turned the night around. The first thing that changed my mood was the beer. The draft beer was served in an unbelievably icy-cold mug. It was not just cold -- it looked and felt like it had come straight out of a freezer. The foam was smooth, the beer was crisp, and the first sip was so refreshing that I almost forgot I had been upset a few minutes earlier. That beer alone deserves applause. Sometimes a perfect cold beer can fix a whole mood, and this one absolutely did. The biggest highlight of the night was the tuna toro. It was incredible. The texture was so soft and delicate that it almost felt like cotton candy melting in my mouth. Rich, buttery, fresh, and so smooth. It was the kind of bite that makes everyone at the table stop talking for a second. We loved it so much that we ordered it three times. Ordering the same dish three times says everything. It was not a maybe. It was not a "let's think about it." It was a clear yes every time. The skewers were also very good. The grilled meats had a nice smoky flavor, and they were seasoned well without being too salty. They paired perfectly with the icy beer. But the shrimp skewer was especially memorable. The shrimp had that perfect bouncy, juicy texture. It was grilled nicely, still tender, and full of natural sweetness. Some grilled shrimp can become dry or forgettable, but this one had personality. Small skewer, big impact. We also enjoyed several other izakaya-style dishes. The grilled shishito peppers with bonito flakes were simple but delicious, and they helped balance out the richer dishes. The grilled squid had a great smoky flavor and a chewy texture that went so well with beer. These are exactly the kinds of dishes that make izakaya dining so fun -- one bite, one sip, one more bite, and suddenly the table is full of happy people. The sashimi platter was fresh and beautifully served over ice. There was a nice variety, including tuna, salmon, white fish, scallop, and ikura. Everything looked clean and fresh, and the presentation made it feel even more enjoyable. But honestly, the toro was the star. I will probably remember that toro for a long time. My daughter ordered tonkatsu, and that was also a huge hit. Sometimes at restaurants like this, kids' dishes can feel like an afterthought, but this tonkatsu was really good. It was crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. Seeing my daughter enjoy her food made my birthday dinner even better. As a mom, when your child eats well and is happy, the whole meal suddenly feels more peaceful. That is just the truth. Overall, Hachi started with a little frustration because of the reservation issue and the small table, but the food and drinks completely saved the night. The icy-cold beer, the amazing tuna toro, the juicy shrimp skewer, and the tonkatsu were all memorable. The food was strong enough to make us forget the rough beginning, and by the end of the meal, we were all happy. Las Vegas has so many flashy restaurants, but Hachi has that casual, comfortable izakaya charm. It is the kind of place where you order many small dishes, share with the table, drink something cold, and let the night slowly become fun. I would definitely come back next time I am in Las Vegas. Next time, I already know what I am ordering first: an icy-cold beer and tuna toro. And honestly, I may order the toro twice from the beginning, because one order is definitely not enough.
