My friend and I stopped as we never tried Nigerian food before. Originally, I wanted to try Ugusi soup with Fufu. I looked over the menu and decided I wanted to play it safe... basically I chickened out on my original choice lol. I went with the whole catfish that comes with a stew and I also got Jollof rice. The owner of the restaurant provided exceptional customer service and we had small talk with him. I always prefer supporting small businesses and this is a prime example of why. The food comes at and the catfish with the stew was out of this world so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Jollof rice was as equally delicious. Next time I am in Vegas I am going to have to go ahead and order the Ugusi soup and Fufu. There is plenty of seating however it is a little stuffy inside, but the owner busted out an industrial size fan which cooled us down in no time. read more

Was this a restaurant or someone's living room? Normally, I wouldn't complain about that -- in fact, I usually see that as a positive. But in this case, far from it. Honestly, we weren't even sure we were in the right place when we walked in. The food itself was just okay. I didn't expect amazing, just something edible -- and it met the bare minimum. It's an unassuming restaurant tucked away in a strip mall, but what an experience! We were welcomed by MJ, the owner. He was warm, full of smiles and happy to explain the menu to folks new to Nigerian food. FYI, items are made to order, so there is a wait. I got the sense that they are short-staffed, and service is a little slower than most are accustomed to. We ordered a solid range of items - pounded yam, vegetable soup, okra soup, jollof rice, and suya. The pounded yam was made from scratch, steamed yams worked with a pestle until it hit peak form - elastic, slightly sweet and the perfect vehicle for both soups. The soups were well-prepared, starting with marinated meat, and working in smoked fish and a host of umami flavors. The suya was served as an appetizer, and I loved it! He actually used thin fillets, carefully roasted over an open flame. Our drink of choice was malt (if you've never had it, 10/10 recommend!) This place is overall priced and disgusting inside! Pube like hair was all in my soup. This is just NOT ok. The fufu was fine but I just can't with this soup. That is NOTTT goat hair. I would actually give it maybe 3.5 stars. I never had Nigerian food before so I finally settled on here to try. My order was to go. I had the white rice with ofada stew, suya (grilled goat meat with traditional spices), and a meat pie. The food was good but the prices were high for the amount of food you get. I understand prices are higher due to the pandemic, so hopefully in 9 months or a year or so things may be near normal again and we'll see. I do want to try other Nigerian dishes, just not sure If it will be here or another place. read more

I'm going to go against the grain and give this place an amazing review. I was there a few days ago for lunch. Yes its a hole in the wall. I came in at 11am so they just opened. Just one guy inside watching tv and eating. I ordered something that had no name on the menu. Ordered by picture, it was a meat stew with jollof rice for $25 to go. First off, yes expensive, but every African or ethnic restaurant here in vegas is expensive. But the portion size was huge. I was given a black reusable plastic container filled the brim with well spiced Jollof rice and meat. The thing weighed a ton. It did not take that long, maybe 15-20 minutes. Third, the flavor was amazing. I've had jollof before at other places and while good it wasn't amazing to me. This time it was. I couldn't stop eating it. the stew was phenomenal. Lastly, when you order you can hear them microwave things along with banging pots around. Yes surprise surprise, a lot of food is microwaved and heated up. This is common in many restaurants. You're not going to get a stewed meat that quickly. It takes many hours to get those flavors right. This did not bother me in the slightest. The flavor was awesome and with the amount of food I got the value was there. I will be going back soon. Will update the review when that happens. read more

Well, this place did not rock my socks off at all. I was in Vegas for the weekend and knew that there was decent Nigerian food here. This place was close by, and while the reviews were less than stellar, how hard is it to screw up some rice? Well, when I walked in, I was the only person in there. And the place for a little bit, dark and despondent but heck, it's a hole in the wall. Whatever. I ordered Jolof rice, a Nigerian standard. And while I did not get food poisoning, I certainly don't feel like I got my $27 worth. After waiting for 35 minutes, I was handed to takeout container that contained several scoops of rice, and two lonely, chicken drumsticks. I took it back to my hotel room and got to work. The food was meh-not terrible, but the kind of jollof rice that the Costco food court would serve if such a thing was on their menu. Definitely not worth $27. The woman who served me, who I think was the owner, was nice enough. I mean, if this was the only place in town, I would eat there, but this is Las Vegas, for Pete's sake, and you can do better than this place, if you want African food. Heck, for $27 you can get yourself some really great Chipotle. My recommendation is to avoid this place. There's just a lot better stuff out there, especially at this price. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would do so!! I paid over $135 for 3 plates and some suya. The plates that were given were small meal prep containers that could hold about a scoop of rice and a drizzle of stew. I had my food delivered and I was in complete shock when I saw the size of the plates I was given. Upon opening the food, there was only 1 piece of goat (mostly bone) and under the meat was plantain. I couldn't believe I spent so much money on the food when it was sub par at best. The stew wasn't even done cooking and tasted very acidic. Im surprised I didn't get food poisoning. While visiting Vegas my husband request we visit an Nigerian restaurant. My husband is from Ghana and this is closest he can get to West African food. We order the Egusi soup with goat meat. There was only 1 piece of goat meat considering the meal was around $30. The restaurant added a big chunk of chicken with skin which was very disappointing. I would avoid this place, they have prices on their menu that they don't even go by. We asked for a receipt and server/cook/maybe owner said she can just tell it to us and they don't take any credit or debit cards. It's only cash or zelle. After a few minutes, I hear the microwave. I should've know right then to leave. I read other reviews about microwaving and the horrible food from this establishment, but I thought I give them a fair shot. I regret it. $50 later... my food was literally inedible. I would not feed it to a dog. The chicken is beyond tough. You can use the two pieces as hockey pucks. It's obvious the food is very old and reheated multiple times. This place changed ownership in June 2013 and thankfully changed cooks. I have been here several times in the past few months and have been forced to taste more exotic cuisines. The food is actually very flavorful. I have had the egusi with pounded yam, plantain plate, jollof rice, and meat stew with goat meat. Each time my hesitation was met with delight and maybe a slight taste of hesitation. The new owners have changed the decor (thankfully) and provide entertainment in the form of a big screen TV. I had a good experience. Yes, it's in a shady strip mall but once you walk in the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you're wanting to try something different, as I was, give them a try! I had no idea what to order and the server recommended something with the word "Fru Fru" in it - a bowl of chicken meat with a nicely spiced sauce and a slab of yam dough. I've never been to Africa, and this was my first Nigerian food experience; I'd say it was as close to authentic as could be!
