Hey y'all hey it's me again Hope y'all are having a GrateFUL day! We tried Calabash African Kitchen and really enjoyed ourselves. Our server Nene--I'll call her Queen Nene--was soooo hospitable! We had plenty of questions about the food, and she answered them and made us feel like family. I ordered oxtails & they had my tastebuds tap dancing AND moonwalking! They were tender with a gentle, comforting flavor that reminded me of my mom's home cooking. I'm so used to Jamaican jerk oxtails, I forgot how comforting "regular" oxtails can be. The jollof rice was savory, nicely seasoned and full of flavor. The egusi soup wasn't for me. Some of the seasonings just didn't make my tastebuds dance, but hey, everything isn't for everybody. Now those chicken empanadas?! Crispy, flaky and soooo flavorful! The empanadas and those oxtails WILL see me again! They even gave us a bowl of water so when our hands got messy from eating the fufu, we could dip them in between bites. Nice atmosphere, generous portions, and the music wasn't overwhelming. They also have live music Fridays & Saturdays. See y'all on my next review!
I was very happy with this place. Happened to drive past it and said "hey, that's something new to try". When we walked in, the place was very welcoming and nice. The hostess/waitress was very nice. I was excited to try their plantains. A bit dry, but I will go back to try again and see if it was just a bad batch. I got the oxtail stew with white/jazmine rice. Delicious. The meat was tender. My husband got the Yassa. He could not stop praising how delicious it was. I took a few bites and yes, very flavorful. We love supporting small local businesses. We asked, and they have been opened for 4 years. We will definitely go back.
I've been watching them on IG and really wanted to give them a try. Visiting from Sacramento I decided to stop by. The service was amazing and I enjoyed lamb Chu over white rice but should have got the foo foo. I also had their plantains (a little dry for my taste). I also ordered the puffs and enjoyed them as well. Jollaf was a little dry but delicious in flavor. I am happy they had peele on the side. The place is clean and has great staff. Lots of customers were leaving happy.
I'm not gonna lie, when my friends suggested African food, I was skeptical. And nervous. I had zero idea what I was even going to order, and I briefly considered just pointing at the menu and hoping for the best. We arrived around 5:30 on a Friday, right before the dinner rush hit, and got greeted and seated promptly. With a group of 4, we did what any food group does: ordered a little of everything and shared. We started with the empanadas (1 beef, 1 chicken) and honestly, these were fire. We liked them so much we ordered a second round before the mains even showed up. From there it was Yassa with tilapia (loved), jollof rice with beef (also loved), and grilled meat "Dibi Afra" chicken (least favorite). Basically nothing missed. If you love bold spices and a little heat, this is your place. The staff were so friendly the whole time, and I walked out planning our next visit. And shout out to Kombeh, she's our girl and amazing server! Highly recommend. 10/10.
What an amazing experience! Super welcoming waiters, amazing music, and delicious food full of spice. Our waiter Sheikh was awesome. We told him it was our first time so he brought out a few samples of stew for us to taste. We ordered the beef empanadas to start, which were perfectly crisp and fresh. I got the red stew chu with the lamb, which was flavorful, tender, and juicy. Hubby got the goat pepper stew, which he enjoyed. We also tried two juices (the hibiscus mint and baobab) and both were great! The puff puff beignet dessert stole the show - do not skip out on these! It was our first time but definitely not our last.

Orders & Ratings: Egusi (Famous Nigerian soup with ground egusi seed, ugu & bitter leaves, red palm oil, smoked fish, crayfish, and spices.) - with Lamb Meat and side of fufu Rating: 10/10 Jollof Rice "Cheb / Benachin" (Boldly flavored and most celebrated West African rice dish with choice of meat, vegetables and rice simmered in tomato base. This hearty one-pot meal is the National dish of SeneGambia) - with chicken meat smothered in spices, seasonings, and onions Rating: 9/10 - the taste was there, however, rice was a little on the drier side. The first time we had the Jollof Rice was cooked to perfection. Still enjoyable Fataya-Pies / Empanadas (Savory Empanadas (2) with choice of filling served with side of Calabash chili sauce) - ordered the chicken empanadas Rating: 10/10 Comments: I have been wanting to come back since my first time dining in and i am so happy to be back! Customer service is always amazing. I ordered the Egusi with lamb meat and side a fufu. Our server wanted to give me a sample just to be sure i will like it because there are some rare individuals that won't. I thought it was so kind and generous of the server to do so. I knew i would enjoy the egusi. My son and i were so happy with the food we ate. Everything was filled with flavor, spice, seasoning, and it felt really homey. The customer service is always tea. Everyone is so sweet, kind, wonderful, and created such a welcoming atmosphere. This restaurant can get busy whether it's dining in or to-go. Thank you Calabash for the wonderful hospitality and the delicious food! Cannot wait to come back already!
Staff is very attentive to the customers and even brought samples of 5 different entrees when we told them it was our first time there. The restaurant is very clean and organized. The food is absolutely incredible and the samples have helped us decide our next meals. Definitely will return.
WOW! If you're even considering coming here... DON'T think. Just get in the car and drive! I never imagined African food having so much flavor! We beat the crowd on a Sunday afternoon. The restaraunt has a modern ambiance, nice lighting and wonderful staff! Our waitress allowed us to sample a few stews before making our selection. The Egusi soup was interesting. It reminded me of collard greens. The red stew was amazing. The flavors dance on your tastebuds. The peanut butter stew was unique, not bad but not my favorite. We ordered hibiscus mint drinks. Those were very good! Perfect amount of mint and a delicious hibiscus flavor. We started with fried plantains. They were so good. Sweet and crunchy. They actually may have been better for dessert but thats ok. We also got an order of empanadas. One beef and one chicken. The chicken had a bit of a kick at the end but both were seasoned very well. They were pretty good. I ordered a side of Jollof rice. I was slightly disappointed in the flavor. It didn't have much flavor and was a bit crunchy. We got red stew with beef and fu fu. The fu fu was almost like mashed potatoes. It didnt have a lot of flavor alone but with the stew, it was incredible! I'll definitely be back for more! I also got an order of oxtail stew with fu fu. Let me tell you... a cold winter evening ... this would be HEAVEN! SO much flavor, the meat falls off the bones. I didn't want to stop eating it, it was so good! Some of the best stew ive ever had at a restaurant! We also got the grilled meat with beef and lamb. It has a delicious homemade mustard on it. You can also request their homemade hot sauce. Warning: It is VERY spicy. If you can't tolerate a lot of heat. Everything we tried was amazing. I now have a new favorite place to go eat. My friend and I decided to try some African cuisine and Calabash came highly recommended. Upon entering the restaurant is very spacious and beautifully decorated. We were immediately greeted and we chose to sit at the bar. Our server, who is also the chef, told us she would bring some samples of popular dishes so we can taste them before ordering. She also gave us some drink samples of popular drinks. For the food samples she gave us some vegetarian Egusi, Oxtail stew, peanut butter stew and okra stew. The Egusi has a very Smokey flavor and a good amount of heat. She told us we can get it with less heat if we choose to. The peanut butter stew was savory and delicious. It was both of our favorites. I was apprehensive as I'm not a huge peanut butter fan but you really did not get a peanut butter flavor at all. It was just rich and delicious. The okra was our least favorite. The flavor was decent but it was a texture thing for me. Finally the oxtail. It was very rich and tasty. We decided to order the peanut butter stew with chicken and the egusi with beef, but a little less hot. She said what we tried was about a 7 heat level so we got a 5. We also ordered a side of jollof rice that she highly recommended we try also. As an appetizer we ordered the fataya empanadas and since we could mix and match we chose beef and chicken. For the drink samples she gave us the ginger pineapple juice, baobob juice, hibiscus juice and the tea. The ginger one was very heavy in the ginger taste, a little too much for me. The tea was delicious and sweet. The hibiscus was a little tho let, almost syrupy but had a nice flavor. Finally the baobob, which is a super fruit, and that was citrusy and refreshing so we both ordered that for our beverage. The empanadas came out first. They were pillowy and flaky, stuffed with meat. Both of us preferred the chicken over the beef one. They're served with a tomato like chili sauce that was delicious too. The Egusi and PB stew arrived shortly after. Both served with a ball of fufu. She told us if we liked she could also bring some white rice on the side as that was the other way to eat it, but we stuck with the fufu. The fufu is a dough like ball that you pull apart and scoop up the stew. It has almost a mashed potato feel and taste once it's in your mouth. The chicken in the PB stew was amazing. Definitely could e used more but that's just because we liked it so much. I can only imagine how good the chicken on the jollof rice is as the rice was delicious also. Nicely seasoned and fluffy. That will definitely be on the list for next time. The egusi with beef was good but I think the addition of the beef made it even a little smokier flavored than the vegetarian version. I would definitely stick with the veggie one. To finish off we tried the puff puffs. Deep fried dough similar to a zeppoli, just more dense. It is served with some chocolate sauce and whipped cream, sprinkled with yellow raisins. We were so full we only managed to finish a couple of them. Overall this is an amazing restaurant. If you're looking for a new cuisine to try, this is the place. The service was amazing and they also have live a live saxophone player on Friday- Sunday.
I've been wanting to try African cuisine for awhile now and finally did. I am so glad that we tried it here. Service was above & beyond. We had the egusi soup with lamb and chicken empanadas and a side of the red stew. We loved every bite. We also got fufu to go with it. Jule let us taste 4 different soups/stews and all of them were so good. Our favorite was egusi soup and the red stew. NeNe showed us how to eat it and gave us pointers, I'm just impressed with this place. So welcoming and comfortable! I recommend everyone to try this place at least once. I will be back again for sure, thank you!
Calabash was excellent. We received really great service from our awesome host Nene and all of our food came out hot and delicious. The ambiance and esthetics were very cozy, inviting, and modern. My family and I were very satisfied. We will most definitely be back.
Calabash African Kitchen offers West African Style Food and Drinks. If you are a foodie you most definitely want to try this restaurant because the food really is delicious. Also the chef is James Beard Nominated for "Best Chef SW." Inside is a modern sleek decor. You can sit at the bar or a comfortable table. For my beverage I tried a Kenyan Black Tea. It's a very rich Black Tea unlike any tea I've had before and was interesting. For an appetizer we tried the Fataya Pies (vegetarian empanadas). They had amazing flavors to them and came with a tasty kinda spicy red sauce. They were delicious! The pastry on them was also very thin but also held everything nicely together. They didn't seem heavy at all. We shared the fried Red Snapper and the famous Jollof Rice with Chicken. Both platters had amazing flavors to them. I thought I knew Jollof Rice because I have had it at other African Restaurants but the Jollof Rice Here really is truly amazing with layers of flavors unlike the others I've tried. Both dishes tasted great but the chicken had more going on with it than the fish. The only reason I didn't give FIVE stars is because both the fish and the chicken were both slightly dry and overcooked. I didn't feel the need to complain. The dishes weren't bad enough to send back. The people serving us were both pleasant and helpful. We plan to return and try more!
We had a great experience on Saturday evening. Live music was playing and the atmosphere was fantastic. Kombeh was our waiter and was so friendly and attentive. We started with the black eyed pea fritters which were so soft inside and crispy on the outside. The black eyed pea dipping sauce was spicy but flavorful. The peanut butter stew was the star. Super flavorful and comforting. The Chicken was well seasoned and tender. The egusi was new to us. It has a nutty flavor and is sort of the texture of a tofu scramble. It was very spicy. Overall great time and food! We will be back.

Had dinner here with a group of friends and I left with a full stomach and full soul. Everything was top tier from the ambiance, to the food, and most of all the service. It was my first time having senegambian food and Isaiah and Nene came through with the recommendations on what to get and how to eat it! We were welcomed with opened arms and fed with some of the best food in Vegas. We ordered family style and got the appetizer sampler, oxtail stew, bean stew with plantains, red snapper, didi with lamb, athieki, and for dessert the beignets and chakiri for dessert. I promise I'm not lying when I say every single dish was extremely flavorful with complex flavors that'll leave me reminiscing until I come back. The didi with lamb, athieki, and bean stew were my favorites, but you can't go wrong with everything else. THANK YOU to the serving staff because their friendliness and eagerness to teach us about the cuisine was what made my experience here even better. I'm excited to come back!! read more

Friendly, professional, and delicious! The place was clean inside with a couple of TVs playing African Music videos, very nice. Our two servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the food. The food came out in an acceptable amount of time. We had the Jollof rice with Chicken and the Peanut Butter Stew. Seasoned very well with spices but not hot. The flavor of the rice was simply magnificent. Don't let the name peanut butter fool you, this dish is phenomenal. Both dishes were excellent! We also ordered a side of plantain, it was not quite as sweet as the Cuban version, but crispy outside and soft inside. Thoroughly enjoyed the food at Calabash! read more

Flavor BOMB! Delectable Spices galore!! I loooovvvee finding hidden gems like this. This was also my first time trying West African food.. According to the their website, this is African Fusion cuisine: "West African restaurant serving Jollof inspired Senegambian cuisine. Where Senegalese Restaurant meets Gambian Food. " - https://www.calabashafricankitchen.com/ A good size venue with a bar in the front. The ambiance was chic, yet relaxing. Nothing pretentious about this place. Staff were friendly and very helpful. In fact, the lady who was assisting us brought out a sample of several sauces to try, so we could get an idea of what the dishes tasted like...Mahalo! Parking is not an issue with plenty of spaces available in the shopping plaza. I got no clue what Senegalese or Gambian food tastes like on it's own. Either way, the food here was delish!! Everything we had was packed with flavor and oh so scrumptious... #AfricanFusion: ~ FRIED PLANTAINS - 4/5 A small appetizer. Just your run of the mill Fried Plantains. Very edible, nothing special. ~ HIBISCUS JUICE "Bissap Wonjo" - 3.5/5 Nothing amazing about this one. This was delicate and refreshing with a mild Hibiscus flavor. I had much better Hibiscus Juice before. ~ OKRA STEW "Soup Kanja" w/Lamb - 4.5/5 We had to be taught on how to eat this. Take the round ball (bread) that is presented to you, flatten it with your hands and enjoy with the Stew...basically making a small taco. Tender pieces of Lamb bursting with flavor... brilliant! ~ RED STEW "Chu" w/ Goat - 5/5 It doesn't look like much. But the Stew was AMAZING!! So flavorful, without being overly Spicy. Don't walk RUN!!! If you love great good please go. The service was great. Nice atmosphere. They had music playing which I'm glad wasn't loud like most restaurants. Now to the food. I had the neem egg roll. OMG it was so good. My entrée was the red snapper and jollof rice. If the cook would've came from the back just know he would've got slap cause everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The price and portions matched. This place should be packed based on food alone. The restaurant will definitely be added to one of my favorites in Vegas. I have read the negative reviews and just because a certain type of cuisine isn't your thing that shouldn't be your reason for a low rating. Just my personal opinion. read more

I came in tonight for the very first time. I am so beyond pleased with my visit. The minute I walked in I was greeted and immediately felt welcome. After telling my waitress it was my first time there and trying African food she brought me samples to make sure I got what I would like! Food was absolutely incredible. The flavors were out of this world! Both waitresses checked on me multiple times to make sure I was doing okay! The vibe of the restaurant was warm and welcoming! I will absolutely be back! Ordered dinner for pick on a Friday night and the wait time was longer than the 15-20 minutes estimated time we were given + they were pretty busy which says a lot about how good their food is. My first time trying African food and I will say, it's definitely an acquired taste. It wasn't my fave but it wasn't bad. Being my 1st time here, maybe I should've ordered something else or tried more things from the menu but it was already pretty pricey for what we did order IMO. I got the chicken egusi soup with a side of fufu and my sister got the fish egusi soup because she doesn't eat meat. The egusi soup was spicy - I like spicy but my kids don't so they didn't get to eat much of it. The empanadas were my fave out of everything we ordered. I'm definitely open to coming back and trying more from the menu. Next time I want to try the whole fish. Also- it probably tastes better fresh so maybe I gotta dine in next time too. read more

After stalking this restaurants Instagram for a bit and then seeing Keith Lee give them props. They were on my list for my next visit to Las Vegas. I got the goat pepper soup with Fufu. My dish entree was extra hot with heat and spices but it was also delicious! The serving staff were gracious, welcoming and attentive. The afrobeats played by the DJ set the tone and vibe for my time while dining and I will definitely be returning. read more

It's worth the trip! I am West African and a foodie so I will try anything once . The Senegalese/Gambian fusion is a hit for me and I'll be back... I had the okra stew with fufu and hubby had jollof rice with stew. Both were a HIT oh! I appreciated the samples prior to us ordering because the spices and blend of some traditional west African dishes were different (not bad but different) than what I am used to. The jollof rice was VERY tasty. I won't start the war here on Yelp about who has the best jollof, but eh Senegal maybe giving Nigeria a run for their naira. The okra was also made differently than what I am used to but VERY tasty. If you are used to the "slime" of traditional okra soup, you won't have it in this dish. The flavors were flavoring with this dish as well. I ate my stew with fufu. If was the right size for me, but not enough o finish the stew. I ate most of the stew by itself which I am not complaining about. We both ordered hibiscus tea for our meals. If you've ever had Jamaica Sorrel, it's similar but again different. The juice was sweet with a kick of sour. I would try the other juices for our next visit. That pineapple ginger sounded good as well. The restaurant is also super cute! I loved all the art, murals and their playlist was a nice background music that set good vibes. Our server Andrea (I think) was also very knowledgeable about the food, spices, drinks, all the things on the menu and was very helpful. Final note: African food is not fast. Yes you are in a restaurant but please don't expect the food to come immediately after you've ordered. We waited some 10-15 or 20 minutes for our food. It's well worth the wait and didn't order appetizers. Overall 10/10 for the food, service and ambiance. We going back for the jollof rice for sure and will try other dishes on the menu. We arrived around 6:00pm on a Saturday. I like how they have live music. We were seated close to live music, but there's no bad seat in the house. The place had a good amount of people, but it wasn't extremely busy. Service was extremely slow though. We ordered black eyed peas fritters with onion sauce, oxtail stew with fufu, and yassa with chicken and jollaf rice. I wasn't going to order the black eyed peas fritters because I knew our entrees were going to be plenty, but I'm glad I did! The fritters were very soft and the inside was almost very soft muffin like. Our server told us to not expect to see black eyed peas, but they are there, we just can't see it because it was blended and mashed. One of my favorite appetizers and will definitely get again next time. Oxtail stew with fufu has great flavor! The oxtail stew was tender, but not completely fall off the bone tender. I really like the flavor, but I think they could've used less salt next time. I'm not sure what fufu is made of, but it appears and feels like a giant potato dumpling. It went perfect with the oxtail stew! Overall this place is fantastic to go with friends. The portions are great, and I enjoyed life entertainment; however, service was very slow and the oxtails just needed less salt. read more

It had to be a fluke right? There's no way a restaurant 4 minutes away from my home could be so good. There's no way that the service and food from my first time could be replicated right? My second time was just as amazing, this time Jewel was my server and I could not say anything but great things about her. I made sure to order something different this time, the oxtail stew. Wow. Wow. Wow. I really don't understand how they can make something so delicious with all the spices and ingredients that is available to everybody. Chef is in the back doing the lords work. I wasn't even that hungry and felt obligated to eat it all. When there was no food left I was tempted to eat the bowl the stew came in. 100 percent recommend this place to everybody. read more

Yummy yummy packed with flavor from excellent seasoning and fermentation throughout the dishes. We have had this place earlier this year in the winter and have obviously returned. We were offered the soup and stew samplers and i knew what I was ordering on my third visit (the next day). The okra and Egusi were amazinggg. My boyfriend had the empanadas in which he crushed. I had the snapper and it was so well seasoned ugh i can still taste it. I opted for the Fried Red Snapper with the fermented grain side. So so good. The little tomato and onion side and the sauce is quite spicy but it goes with the grain and that tones it down. The fish had perfect crunch and temperature Customer service is always great. The chef came out to check on our enjoyment and if we were truly experiencing the dishes as they are meant to be. I appreciate learning opportunities when i am eating from cultures outside my own so 10/10. read more

We tried this restaurant on a whim. We love trying new foods and had never tried African Cuisine. The yassa dish was made with grilled chicken and covered in caramelized onions. The Jollof Rice was something different and tasted delicious. My husband had the grilled lamb chops. He wanted them medium rare, but they came out more like a medium well, but had great flavor. The restaurant ambiance is very simple. There is a small bar. There are an assortment of cocktails. The drinks are made with real ginger and hibiscus juice and other different additions not used everyday at most bars. Our server NeNe was wonderful. Very attentive and helpful answering all of our questions. Over all we really liked the food. The biggest drawback would be the prices. We had 2 cocktails and 2 entrees and this came to about $90 before the tip. I did like everything, but that priice point seemed a bit steep. However, we would go again when craving something different. read more

The food and service here was great! I ordered the Oxtail Stew and was really surprised by the depth of flavor. The spices are really balanced and aren't like other places where there's an overpowering one. The flavor lingers on your palate. My only downside was that the oxtails were overcooked. Yes, they were tender, but some pieces have been hard boiled for too long, resulting in the moisture/fat cooking off the oxtails. Some pieces were like bubblegum. The fufu was cooked well and the texture was as I expect. The empanadas were decent. I'll definitely come back for the oxtail stew, just hope that the cooking of the oxtails are more consistent. read more

One way to deal with a chilly Vegas winter: go on an African safari in search of some exotic hot dish. Yelp brought me to this place. Being my first time, the server was very nice and offered a tour guide of some sample tastings. How thoughtful! I sampled the Peanut Butter Stew, Egusi Soup, Okra Stew and Red Stew. I decided on the Egusi Soup Vegetarian version for my lunch special. I also ordered the Senegambian Iced Tea. The first sip was sweet and tangy with pineapple and lime juice combo. The Egusi soup came with a ball of Jollof rice. She instructed me to use my hands and grab the soup with the Jollof rice. The ball is like playdough. It tasted potato-like. The Egusi itself is something like marinated vegetables that reminds me of collard green stew with interesting spices from a faraway land. The Egusi and Jollof combo was exotic indeed. Now I can see why the original Egusi version with fish & seafood would make a better combo with the Jollof rice. Overall...a really fun tastebud adventure and I would come back to try the Oxtail stew soup next time. read more

First time trying african cuisine and I was blown away by not just the food but the service. Wow! The ladies here were all so sweet and so welcoming. They offered me samples of the stews since it was my first time- a great first experience Sampler: Egusi: so hearty, slightly bitter, and the texture reminded me of mash tofu Peanut butter stew: so peanut buttery and reminded me of Dan Dan Okra stew: Smokey and has semblances of baba ganoush/eggplants Red stew: perfect blend of spiced tomatos, sweet and savory We got: Oxtail Stew with Fufu $28: very flavorful and not stingy with oxtails at all! Fufu was also so fun to eat Side of Jollof Rice $7: smoky, spice-y, and the perfect charred rice texture The decor and music stayed true to African roots. I can't say enough about how delicious the food is here. Omigoodness it's amazing. I was reluctant because I don't eat meat and I was wondering if the meatless options wouldn't be as good. I tried the black-eyed pea stew...omigoodness it was so good! I have only had black-eyed peas one other time where it was really good, these really changed my mind on those. The stew had a lot of vegetables and spices and the plantains were a great sweet contrast to spices in the stew. My friend ordered the jollof rice with chicken and beef and the portions are so huge! She said it was so good she couldn't stop eating it. The restaurant was busy and they seemed under staffed but they all worked together to take care of the customers. Our server was Ne Ne, and she was so nice and had some great conversation. I thought the food was Nigerian and she told me *in a polite way* it was Gambian and told me the difference although it is still west African cuisine. The restaurant was clean and the mural was a nice touch to the restaurant. I like that they also have a DJ playing Afro beats. It definitely created a vibe. First of all, I'd like to say that, even though this place was busy unexpectedly towards the end of the day when they were nearing their close time, they helped us get seated pretty quickly and moved like mad ants to get all the orders in! Amazing service: I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to have a variety of cultural experiences living in Las Vegas, Nene was such a lovely lady that took the time to bring me the sauces so I could make an educated decision - since I've never tried Nigerian food before. Her energy was so warm and welcoming, what a gift to meet her to end the year. All the sauces were unique and flavorful- but I went with Chu. The Food: I don't think I've ever finished an entire plate so fast in my life Nene saw me using the fork with the Fufu (I used my hands at first but my nails are long so it didn't feel right) and she offered to bring me gloves ... only for her to pass by a few moments later to lock eyes with me to say HAY you are almost done I told her "don't bodda wid di gloves" lol. The Ambiance: Lots of seating so if you have a large party they should be able to get you all in, the music was lovely and the entire restaurant was aesthetically pleasing. Towards the end, she came over with the handheld machine to close out the bill, she took her time to talk to me a little bit about what we share culturally as food (I'm from Jamaica) and plans for the new year I really loved it here and I can't wait to go back, the next thing I'm going to try must be jollof. read more

Amazing, amazing . Amazing! I just want to give a 5/5 to the service! SHE was amazing ( I think her name was Andrea). She asked if it was my first time here ( which I replied yes) she then explained the menu to me, told me all the favorites and even offered a sample of the soup. she answered all my questions in depth and was very friendly and informative. I tried the empanadas , oxtail soup and ginger/pineapple juice. Everything was very flavorful! My only thing I would is I would give the empanadas 4/5 instead of 5/5 bc I feel like there wasn't too much meat/filling in them (esp the beef compared to chicken ) Also: they have a lunch special as well where everything is 16 dollars and comes with a side ( I did not opt for that menu though) read more

Check me out...we traveled from California to Las Vegas to try this restaurant. Let me not waste your time. We ordered about $130 worth of food, which include: Jollof rice, Empanadas , Plantains, Neem Senegalese Egg Rolls , oxtail stew/soup with fufu, Red Stew, and Lamb chops. For drink we had the Ginger Pineapple Juice & Bissau Wonjo. Everything was made fresh to order, and tasted very good! The service was very good as well. A young lady name Sonia (according to the check) managed to serve four tables and gather everyone's orders without pen and pad. You go girl! She often checked on everyone to ensure the food was good and nothing further was needed. The ambiance was beautiful and modern. In comparison to West African restaurants in Los Angeles, the restaurant was upscale. The decor was very well thought out with variations of beige, brown, and greens. Yes we shared the main dishes. It was more than enough food
Your vegetarian stews/soups, are they vegan?
Yes, our stews/soups are vegan. The only thing not vegan in our vegetarian selection is Fataya/Empanadas.
Are your meats halal? I miss west African food
Yes almost all of our meats are Halal. Our lamb, goat, beef, and most of our chicken is Halal. The only meats not Halal is the oxtail and the chicken drumsticks.
Can I customize the egusi soup to have no crayfish? I am allergic to shellfish
