This is a very big park, with great meadows, rich setting playgrounds, sand pools, basketball courts and pump trails etc. It's very family and kids friendly. There are also some Mexican fruit sellers selling fresh fruits in the parking lot. read more

This is one of our favorite parks probably because it is close to our house and has something for everyone. It has 3 separate playgrounds that we have named " the big one" , "the baby one" and "the rock climbing one". The big one being the biggest of the three with multiples slides, a tire swing, swings and monkey bars The baby one being smaller and geared towards smaller children. It has baby swings, monkey bars and slides. The rock climbing one is just what it sounds like it has structures that you can climb. My twins love each playground. In addition to these structures Calabazas has an enclosed bmx riding area. I remember when I was a kid the bike hills at Calabazas were created and maintained by the kids and parents. Years ago they actually made the make shift bike hills into a BMX area. So I am fond of this because it brings back childhood memories for me. Watching my children enjoy these bike hills brings me so much joy! Beyond the enclosed bmx hills they have hills surrounding the area that you can always bike on. There is a creek that runs by the park and you can make your way down to it , sometimes it has water and my twins love to play by the creek. Calabazas also has lots of shades and a reservable pinic area. We actually reserved the area for my twins first birthday. The park has basketball courts, tennis courts and even a sand volleyball area. When no one is playing volleyball you will often find children with sand toys playing on the court. There is a huge grassy area adjacent to a baseball field. There is a parking lot near the baseball field but also street parking available. The park is large and clean with something for everyone! My whole family loves this park! The dirtbike area is super fun. But my kids love the tire swing the most. I feel like this place is hands-on for the parents too. There is a sand volleyball area that the kids love to play in the sand with their toys. You can usually see people playing baseball/softball on the opposite side of the field. There are tennis courts that are usually full. And playgrounds are handicap friendly for a wheelchair to get on. The bathrooms are always clean. Although I wonder why all public park restrooms have metal toilets? They are freezing cold and intimidating for children learning to use the potty, lol!!! Overall, we like to come here a few times a month, and if we lived closer, we would probably go every day. read more

Love this park for decades now! It's been consistently clean,spacious with thriving trees and grass for decades! I run this park 25 times a year still after first coming here in the 70's! They have designated areas for specific activities sort of based on age group.It is clever by design and organized in a way not found way back then but right for the times!. This is a favorite of ours. There is fun for all ages. There are five sections ...all quite nearby each other: The toddler playground; the elementary-school-age playground, the small rock-climbing playground, the huge sand area; and the BMX area. All are well designed and kept in good condition. There are shady and sunny spots to sit on benches and also picnic tables. One of the best neighborhood parks around. Every evening, local dog owners bring their dogs to socialize around the large grassy area adjacent to the baseball fields. The two large playground areas are typically filled with children-at-play in the early evening. Basketball and tennis courts provide ample recreation for teenagers and adults. On the other side of the park is a dirt bmx bike area complete with hills and curves for practicing jumps and tricks. For those who simply want a nice stroll, Calabazas Park offers several walking paths through the park. I'm surprised no one has reviewed this park yet! This is definitely the friendly neighborhood park. At any given time of the day, you can drive by and see people using one of its many features. Calabazas Park is 17.2 acres and offers basketball courts (1 full court and 2 half-courts), 3 BBQ pits, a BMX track, open grass areas, 14 picnic tables, playgrounds, a softball field, 3 tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court. Some cons include the worn-down tennis courts and the net-less basketball hoops. read more

This is for the BMX dirty jump portion of the park. The best thing about this place is that it's free, the worst thing about it is that it's free. This means that at certian times it can be overrun with little kids and their forceful parents demanding that everyone make room for their little ones who feel the need to snake everyone as much as possible. The rest of the time the park is somewhat empty, it;s a great place to learn to dirt jump. There are no gap jumps, save for one step up. The big jumps aren't even that big and the landings and lips aren't too steep. I hear people complaining a bit about how no one takes care of the place, but with all the recent state park closings, furloughs, and state/city/county budget cuts - I'm grateful to have a park like this open. Expect it to get a bit more crowded when the famed Post Office jumps in aptos close at the end of the summer. read more

The park is big, not enough of community use of sport recreation -1 basketball court -1 baseball field -3 tennis courts They should have more, such as:: -volleyball courts -badminton space/courts -rollerblade space Some weekends, I see fresh fruits sold in the corner of Rainbow and Blaney All street parkings, only a small parking space on the corner not obvious or close to anything. Making the neighborhood street so crowded with cars when there is gatherings and games going on, makes it hard to turn on streets. Need more street LIGHTS!! I play here as part of SBUL. I've been showing up to these fields for 3 years now, and expect to play here for longer :) There is room for about two Ultimate fields, and probably two soccer or football fields, as long as you account for the baseball diamond. The location itself is nice, and quite beautiful during the day. Since we play in the winter, the fields are closed quite often due to the weather. This field does get really bad with any kind of rain, as it exposes divots and creases in the field. Potential ankle minefield. Harry, who maintains the field, is really great. Very nice and personable with everyone. He does try to keep the field up, so everyone can play, but he doesn't have a choice a lot of time, lest he risk it suffering further damage. read more

Growing up this was the park for the Lynbrook High school kids to come and play basketball. We would meet up at the library and occasionally watch the boys play. Fast forward to 2014, I heard that someone had petitioned for this land to be developed into a BMX dirt bike park a few years ago! Apparently now there is this dirt jump portion of the park (it was just a piece of wasted land for years and years) and I'm glad they have made real good use of this wasted space for the young kids to let off some steam. My young nephews frequent this park as they love riding bikes. Although it may look as though this park is vacant, during certain hours it can be crowded as kids get off school. There is no parking lot on this side of the park so street parking is the only option. The only downside would be that the older kids obviously dirt jump and can ride fairly fast as well as professional riders so parents should be on site to watch the little ones. read more

I spend a few hours out at the BMX park every weekend endurance training for Santa Clara PAL... Love this place, its been getting a little run down lately and is in need of some resurfacing / sweeping as there are a ton of loose rocks and debris in between the jumps, which could make it pretty slippery. Other than being in need of some repairs this place is great. I get to ride while my Wife and son play at one of the three different childrens play structures. And once my son gets old enough to start riding his strider all three of us will be out there riding around those bumps and jumps. I plan on enjoying this park for many, many years to come. read more

Nice neighborhood park with a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, playground area, large open spaces, and a dirt area where kids can jump their bikes off the hills. My boyfriend tells me that there's a ghost story with this park, something about people seeing an old lady dressed in white, but seems like that's only something to worry about when you're driving in the area late at night. :P +1 star for the ghost story. read more

***It is a travesty to consider the tennis courts in this park as public.*** A regular big group of 10-14 people OCCUPIES the courts during peak weekend and weekday hours in the mornings. Other times you can see coaches giving lessons at this park. There is no conformance or usage of the racket queue and members of this group keep coming in and out & switch places on the court with other players from the group while you wait..It is very intimidating to talk things over with this group. Calls to Parks & Recreation Dept have not resulted in any change.. As a tax paying citizen I find it appalling that a public court is being used by a small group of people as their private property. If the city can not address this situation it might be a better idea to sell the court to private clubs/organizations for $$ in this time of budget crisis. read more

City not taking care if the bike park. Lots of loose rocks, dirt. Bad for corners and little kids. Still fun but adds way more danger. City also turned off the water in the bike park. The 2 USED CONDOMS in the tan bark next to the main play structure kind of ruined this park experience for us. The BMX park was closed, as it rained 3 days prior to our visit, which seemed a bit extreme. The only reason I'm giving this park 2 stars is because my kids had fun. read more

Awesome BMX track! Really good jumps at this park and also the regular park is pretty.

BMX park is in terrible condition. It's not fun anymore and more importantly, dangerous. I've seen many kids take a nosedive in what would otherwise be preventable with regular track maintenance. The city however won't allow it because it's their responsibility to fix it and their pride won't allow others to do their job for them. Pretty sad considering that it's right in one of the richest parts of the Bay Area and they're letting kids hit rocks off jumps and doing front flips into more rocks. read more

Tennis court is being resurfaced now, good playgrounds for all aged kids & they have one of the only Bay Area's BMX track. We take our 6 & 8 year ols boys. The teenagers always give my kids tips on what to do. Super safe neighborhood, no homeless people, roudy teenagers or drinkers( we go late, as many parents work...) Families come from all over to let their kids ride. No fee to enter tons of parking & bathroom near by! 4 sections begining to advanced. Track runs clock wise so let ur kiddos know to avoid collisions!!! Shaded with trees so mot super hot. Come check it out! read more
