This is the second time we've hired CalBath to remodel a bathroom. They did such a fantastic job 9 years ago on our downstairs bath that we knew we'd use them again and were not disappointed. Once again, their service throughout the entire process was exceptional. This time around we had them replace ceramic tiles in the master bath with acrylic panels as well as the wall lights, faucets and fixtures. Our initial contact was back in February with Gabby De Leon, who gave us a tour of the showroom and took notes of what we liked as options were extensive. Gabby did an excellent job of keeping us apprised as the products were ordered and their installation dates. Laurie Cotton was our next contact who set up our appointment with the sales estimator. Like Gabby, she was very friendly and helpful keeping us updated with emails. Roger Thomas is the same sales/estimator we had on our first Calbath project. It was a pleasure to work with him again. Art was our principal installer and a master craftsman. You couldn't ask for a more polite, professional and knowledgeable workman. He was considerate, worked continuously, cleaned up any debris each day and took great pains to protect our floors and walls throughout the project. His workmanship was exceptional and the end result was stunning. We couldn't be more pleased with everyone we dealt with at CalBath and again highly recommend their products and services. read more

I would like to start my review by referencing the below summary of our project. Our bathrooms are small by normal comparison, so I did not anticipate such a poor renovation. Unfortunately, it was not a good experience and when communicated to CalBath and one of the owners (Dan) there was little effort made to indicate that they even really cared. We were offered a $500 discount. You get what you pay for I guess. I recommend exploring other bath renovation experts, but if you end up going with CalBath pay close attention to all the details, review all the workmanship and don't be surprised by delays or staff shortages. Good Luck on your Project. Project start date of February 24th, hall bath. Our project just concluded July 11th, with the cabinet faces and hardware installed in our primary bath (i.e. almost 5 months). Our original tech had an injury and this did play a part in the delay. However, it took about a week for a new tech to come out to start back up and the Ops Coordinator told me they were short staffed. In addition, the primary bath received the wrong faces multiple times and ordering took on more delays. However, I was surprised at the supplier's lead times, shipment mistakes and at how impacting the injury was to staffing shortages. Furthermore, here are summaries of the project in our experiences. Hall Bath The first issue was with the tile subcontractors in the hall bath. Sloppy workmanship (i.e. unlevel tiles, slightly inconsistent grout lines, cracked tile in the middle of the floor, chipped tile by the tub, transition strip off) Baseboard not mitered, square cuts. Off Center vanity cabinet handles. Mirror hung off center. Primary Bath Primary bath tile had better workmanship, but on the first day, all 3 of the workers went #2 in our newly remodeled hall bath and put used toilet paper in the trash can. Electrical outlets positioned vertically with close proximity to back splash and medicine cabinet, resulting in limited and restricting plug and outlet availability (i.e. we can't plug-in any cords with a lower wire). Electrician wired the mirror outlet apprx. 12 inches from the ceiling instead of in the center of the wall (I assume this was an easy way for him and he did not have to run the extra wire, even though the wall was a little open already). This ended interfering with mounting the mirror at the level that we would have liked it initially. However, we are fine living with it as is. Left corner of the shower entry was not finished and needed wall repair and a corner guard placed after further discussions. Wall repair is uneven. No caulking around door casing medicine cabinet and sides of the vanity cabinet. Visible nail holes around the door casing. Vanity faces incorrect from manufacturer. Order placed to replace repeatedly. Lastly, this project had been quite the undertaking for our household with 2 small children. We were excited for the project and were looking forward to the end results. Our initial involvement with Darrell was pleasant and positive. The Calbath Techs were polite and considerate to us and our household. However, the attenton to detail was lacking. I said this a few times, I understand renovation projects can have some bumps in the road or possible delays (nothing is perfect). However, we unfortunately experienced multiple bumps in the road, lack of attention to detail and some poor workmanship, resulting in a less than positive experiences during the process and a unsatisfied lasting impression. read more

I have been using CALbath for over 25 years. They have remodeled the kitchens and baths of my home and rental property. Dan listens to what you want. A lot of contractors don't. He works with you to make sure you get what you want and relays it to his team. The people he has working with him are great. Everyone is professional, clean and are true artisans with their work. He recently remodeled my en suite and I smile every time I use it. He also recommended a great floor installer and electrician. He only works with the best. I cannot recommend them enough. Calbath Renovations For several months, I had been searching for a contractor to handle a tub-to-shower conversion in our condominium. Most of the ads I encountered seemed to be for companies that merely acted as intermediaries, referring clients to contractors in exchange for a finder's fee. Eventually, I called Calbath and was reminded that we had used their services years earlier for a small project, which they completed well. Darrell Benn, their representative, was able to meet with us the very same day. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped us design a new walk-in shower, recommending the right fixtures and sliding door treatment. The price was reasonable, so we signed a contract. Two days later, we received a call from Calbath offering to start the work almost immediately. Eric Tena handled the demolition of the old tub in just one day. Eric was not only professional but also a true gentleman, completing the work quickly and thoroughly. Three days later, Rob Ramirez began the installation, which was finished the following day. Rob was very professional throughout the process and took great care in explaining each step along the way. I just had CAL-Bath replace a tub/shower in my rental condo. The entire team was great, beginning with Roger, who spec'd the job and made recommendations, to Gabby, who communicated every step of the project and answered all my questions, to Dave, who is a master installer (I highly recommend him!) and Jesse, who helped Dave as needed. I received 4 estimates ranging in price from $11,000 to $22,000 to convert my mom's tub shower to a walk in shower. We chose CALbath because of their pricing (which was in the middle), the quality of materials and lead time. Roger clearly explained the process and was able to show us samples at her house. But by actually going to their showroom, my mom was able to really envision what she wanted by seeing even more samples and stepping into displays. Even though we had one issue w/the original pipes, Luis made sure our lead time was never compromised. He also made sure that the placement of the showerheads, grip bars, bench and shower caddy/shelf were exactly where my mom wanted them. From my inquiry for information about turning our bathtub into a walk-in shower for my aging father-in-law, until the first time Roger came to our house and met with us the same day, on a Saturday no less, in their showroom, to Gabby's call to let us know that a cancellation meant we could have our installation much sooner than anticipated, to Art's arrival and subsequent work installing our new shower, everything was FANTASTIC and quality of products offered to us was exceptional and the price waw just right! Initially we were told that two of the pieces were not in for the start of installation, but one of them arrived while art was at our house, which he did put in, and the other one is being installed on Monday, January 29th, but everything else was professional and neat. Art cleaned each day after his work was done and left our bathroom looking at nothing like a construction zone. (You can see the progression in the images below.) My wife and I are now considering renovating our master bath with CALbath, and I recommend that if you have any bathroom needs, you give them a call and an opportunity to do the work for you first. UPDATE: The shower seat came in sooner than expected, and Art arrived early to complete the job. Ok.. Here goes. My wife says " Honey I have something to show you ". Our 65 year old shower in our master had given it up. And was leaking soaking new carpet that was recently installed. After a few bids and checking this site. And a couple of others. I went against my usual inclination and decided to go with the cheapest Calbath. After all they have a 4.7 out of 5 stars. The difference in price was actually huge. $4k huge. Anyway everything from start to finish went Perfictly. Going in I was very concerned about keeping within the bid because of the age of the house. Luis with Arturo showed up on time. And on day one removed the old shower. Moved the plumbing. Set the new shower pan. Re piped the supply line with a beautiful new single handle Moan mixer. And rased the shower head. Moan of course. Second day the beautiful " subway " tile surround was custom fit and sealed. Today the clear glass slinding shower doors were installed along with two accessory shelves installed to my wife's specifications. I don't know if you can tell. I hired CalBath to replace my standard Bathtub with a Handicap Accessible Shower Unit. The work was headed by Art which started on a Saturday morning and concluded on Sunday night. Had two 30+ year-old fiberglass showers we wanted to replace, and after seeing the quality of work CalBath had done on three others showers for family members we felt confident working with them. I recently hired CalBath to convert my shower/tub into a walk-in shower. Darrell came out to do the initial consultation, but I wasn't completely sold on the patterns he presented. I decided to drive out to Newport Beach to visit the showroom. As soon as I walked into the showroom, I saw my shower!! I still took the tour with Darrell as he showed me the different options and answered all my questions. He helped me choose the the walls, shower fixtures, and door. My installer was Colin, and he did an amazing job explaining things and keeping me informed. I now know what a "butt joint" is thanks to him. :) We ran into a few typical home improvement issues, but Colin and Darrell quickly adjusted things so we could continue moving forward with the project. In the showroom, the shower has a long horizontal nook, but due to the structure of my walls, we had to place a vertical nook. The finished shower looks AMAZING! I absolutely love it! Although it's in the guest bathroom, I still use it quite a bit. I'll definitely be calling CalBath when I'm ready to do my master bath. I would highly recommend them if you're remodeling. **I I forgot to take 'before' pics, but was able to find a few online from when the place was on the market. Please excuse the quality. read more

I had the best experience with this company. From the very beginning of the process. Darryl started it off by coming out and giving us a quote. He was quick, responsive and gave us a reasonable quote for the work. We then went to the showroom and picked out all the finishes for our bathroom. He was flexible and did everything possible to make sure our shower was how we wanted it. The company scheduled the work to start and we got Luis and David as our installers. I can not say enough about them. They were on time, clean, careful with there work and our condo. The work they did was quick our entire bathroom was done in less than a week. You can tell they really cared about the work they did and wanted us to love the way it turned out. Would highly recommend these guys!
