My husband & I purchased over $30,000 of appliances from them and they would not help even though their installers caused the problem. I repeatedly asked Frank if they could get me another 48" range but he insisted there was nothing he could do..... I've been without a working oven now for over two weeks waiting for Thermador. We bought a fridge and dryer from this place last year. George was very attentive, knowledgeable and honest and we are very happy with the purchase that we made. First, we were thinking to buy a KitchenAid fridge from another place but we were convinced from him to buy a subzero fridge. Oh my god! It is such a big difference! I know it costed more at first but the food last longer and we were very amazed. The measuring and fitting of the fridge is perfect and so beautiful. It was really worth it and I am so glad we listened to George. Lately our dryer is making a big noise so I called him 2 days ago. We purchased Thermador range, hood, microwave and dishwasher from Universal in February of this year. It took over 4 months to finally get our dishwasher as they kept telling us they are out of dishwashers. Finally in June the dishwasher arrived, we got very excited but the installer noticed that the dish rack was from their sister lower quality brand and carried the name of Bosh. We were introduced to this store by our designer. We were getting our condo ready to sell and we ended up buying everything new for the kitchen. Our designer sent us the price - which I verified and all the prices were super competitive, I could not find any of the major appliances (Dishwasher, Stove, Refrig, and Microwave drawer) cheaper anywhere. Before the delivery, we had installed a invisible screen door, however that has a frame which made the doorway much smaller. Their delivery crew made it work - they were determined to make it fit through. I have had many deliveries for appliances through the years and these guys were the best. Then we had an issue with the rebates through KitchenAid and our sales person, Alex Delgado, was fantastic. He contacted KitchenAid and we received a nice rebate. Robert Pelham and Alex Campos delivered my Whirlpool washer and dryer today and they were wonderful, except they delivered the wrong ones. I ordered a Cabrio set. The great young men who delivered the machines couldn't have known. The salesman Daniel Hernandez took the order and I did not receive a receipt after the delivery. What a shame when I realized that the machines I asked for and had searched for were not here. It seemed that it might have changed in the years since I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio set that I was replacing. I am very disappointed and should have checked. She was fantastic and professional, and an expert - Stacey listened to us, was happy to support us, but also steered us towards better options (not more expensive, just better) for our needs. 2. The pricing was great. It was expensive, but cheaper than the "deal" our GC could offer through their big box relationships. Very fair deal overall. 3. SERVICE. Both on installation setup, but also a year later as we are doing another remodel, Stacey has given immediate support and follow up, even though we have not been spending an additional dollar. We didn't catch it so therefore we have to pay. There's no honor amongst these people.. do not trust them with other people you can do business. They refused to rectify the issue issue they caused. The owner replied and just blamed the delivery company. However, my complaint isn't just about that. Accidents happen. Universal failed on all levels following the delivery. That is where most of the headache came from. You can just blame others for mistakes that your employees are making. Talk to Frank about "extended lunches", workers not knowing where he is, not returning phone calls, issuing checks to the wrong people. Talk to the grumpy accounting lady about attitude, yelling at customers and not trying to solve problems. When another employee makes a mistake saying "it's not my fault! What should I do about!" is not helpful and doesn't solve the problem. read more

Terrible communication. Ordered bath fixtures and no one followed up or stayed on top of availability with manufacturers so when the items were supposed to ship and didn't, I was left in the dark. I had to quickly go out and find substitute items. On the appliance side, things were slightly better, but communication was still lacking. I had to reach out to confirm delivery dates and no one had told me that the date I selected was not available...this communication error threw off subsequent scheduling with other contractors and was totally avoidable. read more

Three or four reps saw us, they did not even acknowledge we were there. They have these buttons on their devices to press for assistance, we pressed the button twice to ask for suggestions. Imagine this kind of service when we have not even bought the appliance, what it would be afterwards if we decided to make a purchase. I agree with the other 1 star reviews here. We went to PIRCH by SOCO near Hyland Ave after this place and we made a big purchase. The PIRCH experience is a thousand times better. They make you truly feel valuable and are not pushy. read more

Having had a great experience with Universal in Costa Mesa when purchasing a Thermador kitchen package for our Newport Coast home last year, we naturally turned to sales rep Jacob Centano once again for our newly constructed rental adu in Laguna Beach. This time it was all LG kitchen appliances as well as a stacked washer & dryer. As before, Jacob provided invaluable help and guidance, especially since we were dealing with limited spacing. When there were some issues with the installation of the dryer in a particularly tight spot, Jacob followed up until the issue was finally resolved. I'd give ZERO stars if possible, do yourselves a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I spent over 20k with them and their customer service sucks, especially for an appliance company that sells high end items. If you pay 15k plus for an oven and 2700$ for a microwave and another 3k for a range hood and blower, then you should probably expect amazing customer service, but nope! Not only has our oven range been inoperable for the last 5 months, due to gas leaking and filling my house but they wouldn't return the brand new 30 inch microwave I bought from them, all because Stacey Bostek probably didn't want the hit on her commission. And if you have a problem with an appliance they pass you off with a phone number rather than help you solve the issue. When I called the microwave company (which I won't name because they've been helpful) the lady said there is no reason they couldn't return the microwave. Now I'm stuck with a 2700$ microwave sitting in my garage. Wasn't until I mentioned leaving a review til they started caring, yet still haven't returned the microwave. SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE! find a place with better customer service. Maybe try pacific appliances. That's where I should've gone. read more

Due to the sudden closure of Pirch I was without my appliances that I had already ordered and paid 50 percent up front. My friend Susan reached out to Sub Zero and an employee named Kathy referred me to Randy Acosta. He is an excellent employee. Great customer service skills. Helped me get another range and hood, exactly what I had ordered through Pirch initially. Also bought a dishwasher from him too. Everything was done over the phone. My appliances were delivered within a week. I was missing the knobs on the range. Randy called the company immediately and had them shipped to me. I had received them right away. The second knobs were not shipped out. Randy drove to the warehouse and personally had the second set of knobs delivered to me. Now that's what I mean when I say excellent customer service. We have had nothing but a bad taste in our mouth with the service level we received from this company. Our sales person was George Tomovich. We spent almost $20K and as soon as they delivered the appliances we cannot get anyone to call us back. I have called and emailed numerous times to leave messages for George and he doesn't bother to call back. The service level is rude and disrespectful, not to call your customer back is absolutely RUDE. I have been trying to get a refund from the manager for 3 months now and still nothing.....Well, I got a call back after posted this review. After months of phone calls tried to get status of the refund check of $480, they now told me that they cannot cut a check for the refund. Since the purchase was made on a credit card, they can only credit the same card. Unfortunately the card was closed due to fraud charges. So now it's our responsibility to work with the credit card company. Why didn't anyone call back to tell me this months ago? Why wait for the bad review?
