I…read morecalled 3 highly reviewed roofing companies in the Bay Area. 2 came out and gave me quotes, 1 no showed. Out of the 2 that came out, I choose to go forward with Apollo Roofing. I chose them for 2 major reasons. 1) they were going to deal with the scheduling of the removal and réinstallation of our solar panels. And 2) Shahar was so kind, informative, and honest during our consultation. He was through and kept us updated every step of the way. When our project finally started the crew were so respectful and kind! We found way more damage than we expected which resulted in our quote going up. However, due to Shahar being honest at the consultation we knew this was a possibility so it wasn't super shocking. The crew was great at cleaning up at the end of every day, which we appreciate as we have chickens, ducks, a puppy and cat as well as a child who are outside. When the project was done, there were a few concerns we had, we talk to Shahar and he quickly corrected and had the crew fix the items. Our roof is beautiful and will hopefully last many many years to come. I am thankful we went with Apollo Roofing and Happy Shahar was our project manager.

I got quotes from 4 and found out quickly how much of a pain it is to look for a contractor (one tried to upcharge me and I was pretty distrustful over roofing companies after that). Fabian came super quick for a quote; offered a pretty fair price that included the scope of work; got the job done quickly; and was responsive before, during, and after the process. They finished fixing the roof in about 2 days actually (one day for the roof, one for the gutters) just in time for the nonstop rain this time around. He added vents so that the roof would circulate air a little better, fixed up the shingles, and added gutters so that we addressed all the possible ways the roof could've caused the leak. I will say in between the process since I'm super particular he answered any questions on building requirements needed, difference between materials, and general concerns. For example, the intake vents that initially were replaced looked wonky, or had stickers left over and he got his guys to replace it correctly and clean it/fix it. I noticed one of the gutters wasn't draining during the light rain and he had a guy check it out the same day-- fixed it the next. So the job close to perfect, but of course checking the work helps. So far no leaks (it's only been day 3 of the crazy rain this week) and the new gutters are draining great. They've been in business for years now and are local; if you're looking to deal with a pretty honest roofing company with no hassle, I'd reach out to them for a quote in a heartbeat.

Sergio did the original inspection and estimate, and went over both the company and the work plan with me before I selected them from the several other companies who provided estimates. Their estimate was in the middle, and they didn't require payment except the deposit until completion of work and final inspection. The project manager Luis and his team completed the work, which was a complete tear-off and re-shingle, in a little more than 3 days. They did a beautiful job, including some improved flashing compared with the last time it was done, and those new Ohagen vents. They cleaned up and left the site spotless every day, no nails or other waste. The concrete pad around the house is cleaner than when they started. At the end, I asked Luis how long he thinks this roof might last. "Forty years" was his confident reply. It's so nice not to have to worry about any more leaks! We've already had a couple of heavy rains since then and the new roof is functioning perfectly. Highly recommended!

In June, rain is very uncommon in the Bay Area, but one evening we unexpectedly had a light rain shower while the project was only partially completed. At that point, a large portion of the roof had been opened to replace the underlayment and was temporarily exposed. We became very concerned because it was already after 8:00 PM. I immediately tried calling Lucas, and before our conversation was even finished, we heard activity on the roof. When I went outside to check, I saw ELM's crew already on the roof covering the exposed areas with protective tarps to prevent any water intrusion. It was close to 9:00 PM, and I was genuinely touched by their dedication and quick response. Most companies would not send workers out that late in the evening, especially for a light and unexpected rain. During the teardown, we discovered that one of the walls hadn't been properly constructed originally. Cesar caught the issue immediately, and all the leaks are now completely resolved. They also uncovered some unexpected wood rot during the process, but instead of massive upcharges, Cesar gave me a very fair and reasonable rate to handle the repairs properly. As part of the project, they installed sound-absorbing insulation under the new siding. The difference is night and day--the house is much quieter now, completely weatherproofed, and the exterior looks gorgeous. During the demolition we discovered that there was extensive water damage and that the source of the leak as the walls around the deck. Oscar's team repaired all the damage, installed a new roof, replaced the waterproofing on the walls, and redid the siding, followed by installation of a redwood deck. At each step he came clear explanations of our choices and options for repair and gave us a choice of deck options. The team was polite and cleaned up the job site thoroughly when they were complete. The final result looks great and is clearly much better done than the original roof. I would definitely hire them again.

I had a few quotes from different companies and they were just wanting to rip up the roofing on the light well and redo the whole roof. Brian came along and just said he could fix it with a corrugated panel on top and fixing the scupper like it was supposed to be fixed. The previous roofers did a lousy job and when my roof got clogged and flooded, it was just the side near the window that was leaking and caused all the water damage in the bathroom and in the garage. Brian said he could just fix it without having to redo the roof and my impression of him was that he was down to earth honest. He fixed the problem and without a lot of cost involved. His straightforwardness basically saved me a lot of money. These are the types of people I like to work with. Honest contractors are hard to find. During planning, I spoke to a number of other contractors who wanted to use retrofit windows and just leave the siding in place. Alan took the time to explain the proper way that the building wrap, siding and windows had to interface to get waterproofing, and how we were better off replacing all three if we wanted to be sure we'd fix our problem. Even with this extra scope, Alan's pricing was very fair. Thank god we went with Alan. When they removed the existing siding, they found severe water damage underneath the siding and a subpar earlier repair job. When this surprise came up, Alan talked us through the damage and gave us our options. They ended up ripping up two layers of existing siding, cutting out damaged building sheathing and replacing it with new plywood, before proceeding with the job. The overrun costs were very reasonable and we never felt like Alan was taking advantage of us. The end result was great quality at a fair price, and peace of mind that our issues have been resolved and we won't have to worry about the front / roof for a long time now. After the recent high winds and heavy rain this last week, I noticed that one of the clay roof tiles at the edge of the roof came loose and slid half way down, and how the tile was just hanging there off the edge without dropping off the roof was surprising. I called Redwood Roofing and spoke with Ellison, who is super nice, and he managed to stop by shortly after my call to take a look at what was going on. He grabbed his ladder and placed the tile back into position and used an adhesive to secure it from moving again. I am very thankful that he was able to help me on such short notice, his fee was reasonable, and he is very professional, I can tell he sincerely cares about his customers, and I highly recommend him. read more

Redwood came back to inspect other parts of the roof for repair. There was more extensive work than the previous one. Redwood kept us updated on the schedule. The city inspector came out, inspect it and complimented how great the job was. The crew cleaned up quickly after they finished the work. Overall, they were excellent! read more

Two days project finished on time, I counted at least 6-8 workers depending on time of the day so they didn't go cheap on labor. New gutters were installed, while the installation was done correctly, I requested additional improvements to strengthen the leaf filters protection as it is a specific concern with the surrounding trees in the neighborhood. Last month Spotlight Roofing reshingled the sides of our mansard roof. We had two goals... replace…read moreour splintering cedar shingle tiles and upgrade our insulation and fire protection. Working closely with our project manager, Gilad Rosen, we decided to go with Brava's synthetic cedar shakes, a Class A fire resistant material made out of recycled plastic, and come with a 50 year manufacturer warranty. Gilad was great with communicating and was upfront with every step of the process. We didn't know whether we had a plywood layer below the old shingles, so that was called out as an add-on in the contract. We also needed two underlayment layers to achieve the level of fire protection we wanted. There were some tricky issues around our roof-mounted windows. One set had leaked after their installation, and we wanted to make sure that got taken care of. Gilad and his crew were very responsive and made sure we were taken care of. We're delighted with the look of our house, and thrilled we won't have to worry about re-staining the shingles, or of them splintering and falling apart after a decade or two.

When I reached out recently about a check-in inspection, Peter flagged something I hadn't thought to ask: our solar panels (added 2022, post-install, by a different company) had penetrated the membrane, and he wanted to get eyes on it in case it had become a problem. I got quotes from 4 and found out quickly how much of a pain it is to look for a contractor (one tried to upcharge me and I was pretty distrustful over roofing companies after that). Fabian came super quick for a quote; offered a pretty fair price that included the scope of work; got the job done quickly; and was responsive before, during, and after the process. They finished fixing the roof in about 2 days actually (one day for the roof, one for the gutters) just in time for the nonstop rain this time around. He added vents so that the roof would circulate air a little better, fixed up the shingles, and added gutters so that we addressed all the possible ways the roof could've caused the leak. I will say in between the process since I'm super particular he answered any questions on building requirements needed, difference between materials, and general concerns. For example, the intake vents that initially were replaced looked wonky, or had stickers left over and he got his guys to replace it correctly and clean it/fix it. I noticed one of the gutters wasn't draining during the light rain and he had a guy check it out the same day-- fixed it the next. So the job close to perfect, but of course checking the work helps. So far no leaks (it's only been day 3 of the crazy rain this week) and the new gutters are draining great. They've been in business for years now and are local; if you're looking to deal with a pretty honest roofing company with no hassle, I'd reach out to them for a quote in a heartbeat.
