Our first experience, a little over a year ago, was fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful, the prices were reasonable, and the pastries were delicious. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to those memories. We stopped in shortly after opening to pick up some desserts for the three-hour drive home. Despite being one of the only customers there, we were not acknowledged for over five minutes and eventually had to ask if we could place an order. It wasn't the most welcoming start to our visit. We ordered two large cupcakes and two regular cupcakes and were surprised by the prices. The large cupcakes, which were only slightly bigger than the regular ones, were $6.00 each. The regular cupcakes were $3.25 each and were about the size of the mini cupcakes you might find at a grocery store bakery. We chose simple flavors--chocolate with chocolate frosting and vanilla with chocolate frosting--so there wasn't anything particularly unique or specialty-inspired to justify the higher cost. Unfortunately, the cupcakes themselves were disappointing. The cake was dry, and the frosting was very stiff, which made them less enjoyable than we had hoped. Given the price point, we expected a much fresher and more flavorful product. It's always disappointing when a place you once loved doesn't deliver the same experience on a return visit. While we have fond memories of our first stop at Pastry Garden, this visit left us underwhelmed, and sadly, it's not a place we'll be rushing back to.

We did sit outside after 5 and it got busy as folks drove in and walked up after work. So, for us..I told hubby he didn't need to buy anything because he already had sweets in the hotel room. However once he had a look at the cases, he just had to buy something! His favorite is the lobster tail and cannoli and I had to get the black and white cookie. We sat outside and since I had to be on a call, hubby went in for a strawberry ice. No chocolate until the weekend . A couple of bites of the black and white cookie for me right away. It's not overly make my teeth rattle sweet and the crumb is very much like a cake. I ate the rest after dinner and it quickly had hardened. Hubby LOVED the lobster tail. 5 out of 5. Hubby took a taste of the cannoli and gave it a thumbs up. He enjoyed the water ice more than Ralph's because it wasn't as icy. Local businesses are so important to the local community and it seems that La Deliziosa is holding its own. Regardless let's keep them going!

At Scotty's Pie stand, located at their orchard, I purchased 6 crumble pies; four apple and two peach blueberry, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, Irish soda and zucchini pineapple bread. In 9 days, over breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacking in between 6 3/4 of 7 pies, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, one of each zucchini and pineapple bread disappeared one bite at a time. The last 1/4 slice of the crumble will be my dessert tonight! The Best part of the day was meeting the Amazing husband (Scotty) and wife (Laura) duo who gifted my friend and I (the second best part of the trip) the 7th pie a FREE strawberry rhubarb crumble! Each of Scotty's Country Kitchen pies are guaranteed 2 pounds. All 7 of the pies weighed over 3 lbs with one weighing 3.8 lbs! Every one of the 3+ lbs pies were overflowing with fruits from their orchard and all topped off with the perfect balance of sugar, butter, and spices to creat the most delicious crumble that melts in the mouth! When I'm eating any of the goodies from Scotty's Country Kitchen I don't feel guilty because I know the ingredients are direct from natural and of the highest quality. I can eat one third of my favorite apple crumble for dessert and still have my blood sugar below one hundred the next morning. I would not even be leaving this review, however, if Alexis had taken accountability for her mistake and offered a small refund (I asked for 25% of the cost which I believe is more than fair.) Alexis referred to her "no refund "statement on the invoice and refused to make this right (read below). This was an overall uncomfortable and disappointing experience. Me: I had already told everyone it was going to have a filling so unfortunately there was a sense of disappointment when it was served. I appreciate the future order coupon but I really feel like some money should be refunded for this cake. To me, that would be the appropriate approach. Alexis: I am sorry to hear that. I don't offer refunds as noted in the estimate and invoice. For this time I will extend the refund of $10 for the filling not being added as this is the charge for the filling. I was hoping to offer a greater discount and better experience for the future. Me: $10 is unacceptable. For a $189 cake that was made wrong, I expect appropriate reparations. Essentially, I did not receive what I paid for, and you refunding me the cost for an ingredient is insulting and a failure to recognize the disappointment and embarrassment my guests and I experienced because of your mistake. In order to make this right, I would expect a minimum of 25% back from the original invoice. Out of respect for small business owners, I have not published my concerns online, however, I do expect good customer service. Correct I acknowledged the filling was missing from my mistake. I do apologize for the vanilla pudding filling to have not been added and have offered the refund for the charge of the filling as well as 25% off a future order.
