At 7:45 p.m. on Saturday the 12th, I went out with my partner; we absolutely love Calderone, My family and I have been to this location a few times and even went to their other location for my birthday--all great experiences, and I adore their tiramisu. Anyway, I ordered the Mama rose chicken and so did my partner. I tried theirs and liked it better. Any chef knows that when you use wine as a base, it needs time to reduce so it's not as potent. Coming from a family of chefs, I can tell you mine was just sour and tasted like straight wine. I was nothing but respectful, though I am actually very timid. My partner was the one who brought it up to the waitress because this meal was not cheap, and we expected quality food. (But we are humans who make human mistakes! No big deal) Anyway, the waitress asked, "Well, what can we do for you?" I did not know--maybe an extra pasta? It was a simple fix that I was expecting, but I could barely get a word in before the owner came bolting over and towered over me, saying, "They are made at the same time; your taste buds must be off, or what? Want it bagged?" At this point, I was too stunned to speak, so I croaked, "Yes, please." When I asked for the bill, it took a long time; it was like we were being shunned. Any other person would have walked out. The chef was the one who ended up apologizing, I am not mad, honestly, just disappointed. The chef has better decorum than the management; something is not right. That is backwards. FYI they couldn't have been made at the same time the same way it takes 2 pans 2 different makes. I know what I am talking about. You got a poised and graceful interaction from me. But that doesn't mean you will the next time you roll up on someone in that manner Tony or whatever your name is. I PAY you not the other way around! I was born and raised in the Eastcoast I know that cuisine! You would have gotten punched if my dad was present. Work on your customer service!! You don't talk to a customer better yet a lady that way! I will not be coming back. I'll go to a location were the owner isn't present. Because he is insufferable... Micro managing everything. Maybe if you didn't rush the cook without knowing all the details, my meal would have been better. There are other Italian restaurants you are not worth the hype because your attitude is disgusting! We came here with another couple while we were in town visiting friends. The other couple knew the owner of the place and boy that is a bonus, but it does not give you extra points for flavor, service, wine selection for proper pairing or just ambiance and all around great feeling when you are leaving. This place does need more parking to hold the number of patrons wanting great food and flavorful Italian food and drink. The deep fried mushrooms we had for an appetizer with marinara sauce were spot on. My chicken Marsala had ample mushrooms and a flavorful sauce with a side of pasta. My spouses veal Marsala was even better than my chicken. Bread and oil or butter early on was warm and went well with the short wait for food. What a great lucky stop. We didn't have a reservation and got lucky that there were seats at the bar. We were also lucky to have Danny wait on us. So helpful and kind. We were even luckier to sit next to the owner. He helped us with our menu and we loved every single thing. The pizza crust is amazing! We got the junior as an appetizer. I got the lobster ravioli in the vodka sauce. Holy crap it was good. My husband got the steak siciliano. He loved it. And we brought home Alfredo for the kids. What a charming place. Today, April 16, for our 43rd Anniversary dinner, we chose our neighborhood-ish Italian fave Calderone Club, where we have always felt as one of the family! Take away to home, 2 minutes by car, the deep--fried Eggplant was dropped to cook once I walked in the door. As well, Chicken Marsala with creamy sauce/gravy, unctuous mushrooms and penne. All food was perfect, fantastic uber hot tasty marinara for lemon juiced-salted eggplant "fries". Unbelievably delish! The Marsala. Wow. Truly great food, great folks..thx to long-time owners/hosts/emcees Carmelo and Frank. Pizzas are the best. They have limited offering of pizzas which in my option makes the ones you get very good, because they know how to make it well. Always friendly when I go pick up my pizza. 06 /13/26. My wife and hit up the Calderon for a nice 6 o'clock dinner. I'm a pizza nut, and she had a taste for the lobster ravioli. We ordered a glass of wine, and I had an iced tea. I have to add the tea comes unsweetened. As an app we had fried eggplant. I was warned the pizza would be over 30 minutes. The eggplant came super fast. It was great. Nice sauce. On time my pizza was in front of me. A minute later my wife's ravioli was on the table. Both were served hot. My rectangle "works" pizza was packed with fresh crispy flavor. It was very good. Nice and thin crust. Today (the next day) I ate it for lunch, and it was still great reheated. Wife tells me her lobster ravioli was also very good. Calderone Club is a tried and true pizza option in the North Shore. I hadn't been there in years but we went recently with some friends. The inside is no frills. Smallish but fits a fair amount of people. The service was fine. The pizza was really good as were the mozzarella sticks. We got a fairly massive sheet of 'za and all enjoyed it. Let's start with ambiance. It's great I love the Mural. Waitress gets a 31/2. Good, needs work. Food it was SO average. My husband got spaghetti and meat balls. Meatballs were great, not overly seasoned. I ordered Anthony's Spaghetti or however there worded it I was so disappointed. It said garlic which I expected fresh but it looks like it came from a jar. Basil, I again expected fresh, but didn't get that. Parsley, I didn't see it. I expected FRESH. But it was rather salty. There was some dried greens on top and that was all. This place was pretty good. We got in fairly easily and the service was quick. We ordered a reasonably priced bottle of wine and had some decent entrees. So good. Pizza is amazing. They can pack a lot on that thing crust without it wavering or flopping. The steak spedini was awesome. Loved the fried eggplant and the cozy environment. Tiramisu was also the best. Most servers are probably good. Our server was not so great. Slow time of night (830pm) and she was super slow to bring drinks. I've visited three times over the past few years, most recently last night. The food and service have always been great! Their fried eggplant strips are very popular, as is their pizza and tiramisu, which is a homemade recipe from the matriarch of the family! I love the thin crust pizza, but last night I tried their Calabrian Crust, which is another recipe from the owners' mother. The crust is thicker (maybe double or 3x the thin crust, so not a "thick crust" pizza, where crust is 1/2 inch thick or more. The crust is still airy and lighter than a thick crust, yet as crispy, if not crispier, than their thin crust. It only comes in the "Junior" size but that is plenty of food for one person or perfect as a shared course, while you try other menu items. We had a group of five for a quick after work dinner on a Tuesday, and made reservations for 5:15. Arriving on time, we were seated in a comfortable table. Others had noted that the dining room is on the smaller side and they are correct - it is just about as packed in as you could get before becoming overcrowded. It wasn't busy when we were seated but quickly filled up. Upon receiving our menus we were told that we had a time limit on the table of 1.5 hours and that another party had a reservation after us, which was a reasonable amount of time for our dinner. Not a problem, but something to keep in mind considering the limited seating. Their menu covered a lot of Italian ground and should have something for everyone. We opted for the crispy eggplant sticks and bruschetta for appetizers and I ordered the Marsala for an entree. With the entree one also gets a soup or salad and a choice of pasta side, which guaranteed that we would all leave full. The appetizers were great, with the bruschetta standing out with great flavors and a fresh taste. It isn't the best that I've ever had, but it was still great. The eggplant was what I expected and was good. My Marsala was very good, with just enough sauce to keep things interesting and a good sized portion. The side of marinara pasta that we were given was very good and had lots of flavor and cheese, but having enjoyed all of the entrees, salad and most of my main dish I was unfortunately unable to finish it. My elderly aunt was in town for the weekend. We made reservations for the Calderone Club in Fox Point. Everything was just perfect! From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with a kind smile from the host and graciously seated by the friendly waitress. The food was simply delicious! It was the tastiest lasagna that I have had in quite some time. My elderly aunt stated that it was the best experience she has had at a restaurant in a long time. Many thanks to our new neighborhood pizza joint, Calderone Club! There's nothing like a locally owned restaurant to make you feel right at home. We're new to Fox Point and lucky us, this Italian eatery is right down the street! We've been to their other location downtown, but this one is entirely different. It's a lot smaller and more quaint, which gives it such an authentic feel in my opinion. Calderone has long-standing history, being family owned since 1979. And you get that family-owned energy when you go in! Love that. We were starving on moving day, and in need of a quick fix. Nothing like a tasty pizza to fill that void! I gave them a call and put in an order for a large, Calderone Special pizza. After the 45 minute time estimate they gave, I zipped over to pick it up. It was a Saturday night and this place was poppin! Again, only small inside with a handful of tables, but the takeout scene was so busy. However I was still in and out within five minutes. I was a bit surprised by the $25 price, but soon realized it was worth it. This thing was both massive and delicious. Plentiful mozz cheese covered the thin, well-cooked crust. Atop that was Italian sausage, hella mushrooms (yum), black olives (double yum) and onions. There were only three of us and I kid you not, we devoured it. Wonderful local spot with absolutely amazing Italian food. Relatively small parking lot and interior keep this place packed. The fried eggplant was served perfectly, without being too mushy (which eggplant tends to be). We ordered the Calderone Works pizza on a gluten free crust (which my finicky husband couldn't detect) and it was so good! Although I have driven by the Fox Point location multiple times, I had no idea that there was a great hidden gem, authentic Italian restaurant, tucked away in this small strip mall. The first time I went was a few months ago on a dinner date and couldn't wait to go back again. I didn't take photos the first time for various reasons but did take a few during our more recent visit. The first time was during a Saturday night in November. With the social distancing, they had tables nicely spaced apart. The ambiance was a nice local, family owned, Italian restaurant. These types of restaurants are hard to find. I had the Chicken Marsala and an old fashioned. In the traditional Italian style, they brought out the crusty Italian bread and olive oil It was delicious. The minestrone soup is served in a traditional cup and tasted fresh. The Chicken Marsala was tasty, not overly salted as in many places and the side of garlic pasta was delicious as well. I recently returned with a more fun and relaxed group of friends and I even had a better time. This time I ordered the Veal Piccata and a bottle of Prosecco. Again the crusty, delicious bread and olive oil appease your appetite as you sit in this cozy Italian restaurant with a nice traditional décor that includes tablecloth. Many restaurants no longer use tablecloth. This time we dined during a non-busy weeknight. The Veal Piccata and the garlic pasta arrived and were delicious. My father and I order pizza most Sunday nights. They have a wonderful thin crust Neapolitan pizza. Just the right amount of ingredients. Occasionally, I will order Veal Marsala. The wine sauce is fantastic. I have had the tiramisu and I did enjoy that. Previously,I have ordered the zucchini and eggplant appetizers and garlic bread. Pizza- huge, chicken parm weighed about 5 lbs (plus a side of buttered rigatoni!), spaghetti and meatballs, ok not the size of a softball, but at least a hardball x 2!
