I had my bridal shower in their event space on 04/11/26. It was the most magical day with all my loved ones! The staff were great - they were attentive, friendly, and overall wonderful to work with. We were able to customize our floor plan with different tables and chairs that fit our vision. The decorations and colors matched perfectly with my theme (Love is in Bloom)! They also provided a projector and screen that we used for the games. My sister made a Spotify playlist specifically for this day that they played as well! My sister and I toured the venue about a year in advance and immediately booked it; I'm so glad we did because there were multiple inquiries later on which goes to show how many people truly want their special event held here. The owner, Ahidé, was such a dream to work with during the process. She was informative, kind, and always made sure we got what we needed throughout. We ordered the brunch menu which included eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, lemon ricotta french toast, pastries, and a small parfait bar. The food was seriously 10000/10! My guests gave so many compliments on the food, the drinks, the decor, and everything in between. Ahidé even went the extra mile to customize the bar and brunch signs that matched my theme! She made sure to check on us right after the food was served and was available if we needed anything at all. Every little detail was perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better day. We had a great first dining experience at Tauro Cocina! I kept hearing about how great of a spot it is, but haven't been to this building since it was Trocadero back in the day. I love the location of this restaurant, a cozy little nook set apart from the business of downtown but still so accessible! With events happening at the fiserv and new music venue in the deer district, it was a welcome reprieve from the action. The restaurant itself is lively but chill - is there a word for that!? lol very laid back, friendly and informed staff. We were able to snag a seat at the bar which was great - it's probably got 12-15 seats. Full dinner service too! My husband got a mezcal old fashioned (not on the menu) and I got a spicy margarita. Both were great! As for food, the menu is eclectic, but everything looks and tasted great! We got 2 appetizers, the bruschetta and stuff pepper - both were delish!! And then we shared the braised beef risotto topped off the night with a spirit free strawberry Fresca & churros (SO GOOD). The food was great the first time I went. Not sure why it felt a little underwhelming when I went the second time maybe it was just a weird day. The risotto's are really good! Appetizers can be a little more descriptive because the bruschetta was not the regular style so definitely ask before ordering. Ambience was really nice and the service is great as well. Very cute place! Me and my guest came around dinner time, and the restaurant was beautifully lit by various neon signs and warm lighting. We were sat by the bar in the room next to the entrance room, and got to watch the bartender which was fascinating. Our server was nice, and quickly placed our orders for drinks and an appetizer after we sat down. For my drink, I got the strawberry basil refresher, which was refreshing. It drinks almost like a smoothie as it is on the thicker side. For an app, we chose the house bread with spinach dip. It was delicious. So so good! And between me and my guest, I think we had 6-8 sizable pieces of flat bread with the dip, so there was definitely enough to share. The only issue I had with my experience here was my main course. I ordered the spicy pasta with chicken, and it really lacked any sort of distinct flavor. It wasn't really spicy at all, even being in a red sauce. I'm not really sure where the spice went! Perhaps I should have tried a different menu item. Overall, 4/5 stars. I would like to come here again maybe even just to try a spread of the appetizers! It's a very upscale Latino restaurant located off of Brady St. Walk-ins are fine if it is a slow night, but they highly recommend reservations because it can get packed. Overall, this is one of the best restaurants in the city of Milwaukee. The ambience is beautiful. The music is at a perfect volume. The climate is perfect. The outside patio is absolutely beautiful with the lights and the open Wood fire Grill. The food is out of this world so good. I've had multiple things on the menu and have never been disappointed by a single one of them. The staff are always eager to help you with whatever you need and always want to to be as friendly as possible. Cannot ask for a better restaurant. The only reason they are not at five stars is because of the ice that is in the urinal of the men's bathroom, I find that odd and I think there should be a different place to drop the ice. We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our anniversary; after some searches on yelp and Google, we found Tauro Cocina. And as you can tell from the photos and smiles on our faces, we made the perfect choice for our special dinner. So many parts of our dining experience were perfect - from the atmosphere, service, food, drinks, and more. My main highlights were the food and decor/atmosphere. I really appreciate that the main food menu is one page long. Not only is it organized and printed well, but there are also A LOT of delicious options to choose from (and asking our amazing waiter for his recommendations also helped narrow our initially long list of choices). We ended up ordering the Asada Pizza and Parmesan Risotto. And O-M-G ... the pizza was yummy BUT the risotto with the Birria was INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. I will definitely be trying one of the multiple risotto dishes next time we visit the restaurant. Finally, the restaurant was thoughtfully designed and well lit. Though the restaurant was full of other diners, we experienced great service, the feeling of an intimate and romantic dinner, and wonderful views of the outdoor dining space. I was interested to see how they'd do an Italian Mexican fusion, some restaurants seem to just have some of each on the menu. But Tauro actually blended them in most of their dishes, like Romano cheese in their queso and more. It was delicious! Deceptively large, with a fun and lively bar area, cozy indoor dining, and a beautiful patio with fountain for outside dining. An eclectic Spanish/Italian/Mexican fusion menu. Pizza was solid. Since I hadn't dined there before, I wasn't sure to expect since the only thing I knew was that it served Mexican-Italian food--but now it's definitely one of my favorite places in Milwaukee! There's been a lot of restaurants go through this location, but I hope Tauro Cocina sticks. Make sure you come early to find parking and make a reservation as I saw multiple parties get turned away at the door due to them being fully booked. We were lucky to get seating on the picturesque patio with their fountain. We started with the Pan De Casa - their house bread and opted for the spinach y quest romano which was ooey, gooey, and delicious to start things off. Next, we got the Ensalada De Pulpo to share which had wonderfully grilled octopus atop arugula, black pepper, and a light and lovely lemon citronette dressing. They didn't have the same peach pizza that I saw online, but we opted ofr the Higos pizza which had figs, prosciutto, goat cheese, arugula, and balsamic glaze. The only complaint is that the figs were not fresh. As our two mains we got the Guajillo Risotto with tequila lime shrimp, and while that was good, the dish that stole the show was the Linguine Al Poblano with grilled chicken. I've never had a sauce quite like this! Their specialty poblano pesto packs a punch and I feel like perfectly captures their fusion of Mexican and Italian. My wife and I came for dinner with friends before a concert at Fiserv Forum. The bar and dining room were clean and not too busy because it was only 5 pm on a Saturday night. We all ordered drinks and appetizers to start. The Peroni on draft was served in an official cold Peroni glass. That and the buffalo mozzarella pizza were excellent to start. Our friends had some spicy latin cocktails and ceviche which they enjoyed. Service was excellent and the ambiance was lovely (brick and wood vintage dining room with cute lights). For entrees I had the Poblano pasta special with blackened chicken. Others had fancy salads and pizza that they found to be fresh and tasty. Portion sizes were generous and prices competitive (but still expensive) for the city and unique cuisine. Much better than our visit last year; we will be back the next time we're in town. read more

This review is a long time coming. This is our second visit to Tauro Cocina while visiting Milwaukee from Southern California, and let me say they do not disappoint! First and foremost, the concept is genius. Who doesn't love the heart-warming flavors of our delicious Mexican cuisine, which is beautifully paired with the love of Italian family flavors? It's truly a match made in heaven. The Valdepeña family-owned restaurant has something truly special at Tauro Cocina that everyone must experience. Let me tell you about the food, drinks, and dessert, which on both visits were superb. We had the seasonal Sunny Dia cocktail, which was so refreshing and stunning. The presentation is beautiful, and it was garnished with a sweet fresh slice of watermelon. The Toro Mambo was amazing. I've never had such a great drink made with mescal. The pomegranate juice, ancho syrup, and fresh lime juice were so great on a hot summer day. We also had the seasonal Elote Old Fashion, which is a total treat and has an extremely unexpected flavor with a smoky elote finish. The Piña con Mescal, Red Sangria, El Anticuado, and Espresso Martin are all drinks that should not be missed. Each drink was expertly prepared with great attention to detail. Tauro Cocina is a great spot for memorable drinks. Our food was visually stunning and equally delicious. We ordered adventurously on our visits and tried many impeccably fusioned dishes like the Birria Risotto, Pulpo Grileado, Caldo Mar, Fettuccini al Mescal, and Asada Pizza. All of the dishes were an explosion of flavors. The pizza was crispy and served from a wood oven that makes the entire restaurant smell heavenly. I must say, you won't find traditional Mexican or Italian food at Tauro Cocina. What you will find is traditional Mexican and Italian ingredients prepared in a delicious way. The food gets a chef's KISS! Flavors like I've never tasted before, and I want more! Save room for dessert. We were told the chef makes seasonal desserts in addition to a few staples. The seasonal Pistachio Tiramisu was perfection, a great end to our meal. Our next trip to Wisconsin will certainly include another reservation at Tauro Cocina. For those of you who live in the area, I'm jealous. It's rare to find a place that has great ambiance, fantastic food, and great service. Okay, we have officially been back for brunch now and in a word, I'm obsessed! First of all, Milwaukee is sleeping on Tauro Cocina for brunch, it's easy to get a table and now that it's warm again you can enjoy their beautiful patio! There's always the dilemma of sweet or savory for brunch, well this place does both so well. The lemon ricotta French toast is amazing. The blueberry lemon combo is great and the creamy ricotta makes the whole thing come together. The birria biscuits are so tasty that my husband just orders them over and over. The flavor is complex and a bit spicy and great with the fluffy biscuits! Last but not least, the brunch drinks are interesting and strong! Abeulita's cafe is a great combo of cold brew, sweetened condensed milk and tequila. It's so tasty it goes down a little too easy. My husband and I made reservations here for a belated Valentine's dinner date and, boy, are we glad we did! When we got to the restaurant at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening, there were quite a few people waiting to be seated, so I would highly recommend making reservations in advance! We were seated right away at a cozy table in the back with a side view next to a heater. Behind us there was a floral room with flower petals hanging off the ceiling and a huge mirror covered in flowers - very beautiful aesthetic and definitely photo-worthy! It would have been the perfect setting for our Valentine's dinner, but it looked to be reserved for a birthday party. They still had their Valentine's menu running for a few more days - it looked really good, but my heart was set on a few dishes from the main menu, so we went with those. I got the Jardin de Guadalupe and my husband got the Ilegal en Milwaukee to drink. My drink was AMAZING - very botanical, VERY delicious. I sipped it to its last sip and mourned that I had no more left. My husband liked his drink which was very pineapple-forward, but admitted mine was better. We got the burrata app with the side of baguette as well as the roasted smashed potatoes. The potatoes were good, but I think it needed more salt and/or more of the mocha oil. The burrata, however, was DIVINE. The outside was breaded to a perfect crisp and the inside was super creamy, warm, and very good. The romesco sauce paired beautifully. I would highly recommend getting it with the baguette! For our meal, we got the poblana pizza and the cilantro risotto with seasonal vegetables instead of shrimp, which our waiter told us we could do for almost any of the dishes with meat. The pizza was nothing like we had had before. The big pieces of poblano pepper were soft and nicely cooked while still retaining their flavor. The crust was thin and crispy. The risotto was equally very good - you can definitely taste the cilantro, but it is not overpowering in any way. We did ask for a side of any house chili oil or hot sauce and our waiter brought over more of the mocha oil, which went will with every dish! At first taste, it doesn't taste very spicy, but the heat kicks in a second or two later - it's still not spicy really, but the flavors are very good. We very much wanted dessert (a special tiramisu for Valentine's day), but we were stuffed to our core - we will just have to come back another time! It is a pricy menu, but I truly think the ambience, the staff, and the food make it well worth it. I especially loved how each part of the restaurant had its own vibes and the decor was very cool. This is a quaint Italian-Mexican fusion restaurant.  Our party of 6 had a delightful Sunday evening dinner that was about 90% Italian based on our selections, ha.  They are located on the ground floor of a historic wedge shaped corner building and we enjoyed dinner in their smallish main dining room.  They also have a fair amount of patio tables which were in the sun at 6pm, a big colorful party room in the rear, and a small bar room at the entrance. So, we had the following: - fried burrata appetizer - grilled octopus appetizer - cheese pizza - asada pizza - fig and goat cheese pizza - mussels and linguine The adults also enjoyed the following drinks:  - a Cruz Blanca Brewery Palm Shade hazy IPA, 6.0% ABV (mine) - a gin and limoncello concoction - a dragonfruit margarita The grand-darlings were part of our dinner group and they particularly like pizza and pasta, so that's what drove the menu as well as the restaurant choice made by the son who is a local.  So, as you can see, the roughly 10% Mexican contribution was the asada portion of the pizza, the Mexican brewery's IPA, and the margarita!  The food was very good, particularly the pizzas.  The linguine was freshly made with good texture, but I didn't personally care for the oily red sauce.  The appetizers were delicious but a bit on the small side.  Service was friendly and attentive.  The food came out a little slow but there was also a big group of 14 or so in the room with us and it wasn't any issue.  It's an adult kind of place but they nicely knew to provide water for the kiddos in covered plastic coffee cups.  Thumbs up for the place as a quaint and good eatery! read more

An update to the original review. We were able to make it back to Tauro Cocina for dinner and it was well worth it. If you forgot, we went up and had a brunch but realized we wanted a dinner, so we promised to go back. Now that you're all caught up, let's dig in. The inside of Tauro Cocina is much bigger than I originally thought it was. We were sat in the back area and it was a little chilly at first, but the staff adjusted the heat for us. We had some of their signature drinks to start and the tabla as an appetizer. The tabla was simple, but paired super well so we were able to snack while we waited for our food. All of the food we had tasted great. The tomato basil was not super spicy and the homemade pasta was perfect. The chicken was delicious and the portion was generous. The pear and Brie pizza was as good as I had figured it would be. It has a perfect mix of savory, sweet, and salty in every piece. The desserts were absolutely delicious. I have never had a cheesecake with a churro crust, but it was exquisite and the perfect way to end the meal. Nothing that came to our table was less than amazing and it's worth a trip to try out Tauro Cocina for a dinner. Dinner ran about $40 a person with drinks, which was completely worth it for how good the entire experience was. read more

We went to Tauro Cocina for a fun Mexican / Spanish / Italian fusion dinner. The menu is a fun assortment of drinks apps and entrees. The interior is beautifully decorated and try to sit outside on the patio if it's a nice day. We started with the Chile Encuerado. It was good but probably wouldn't order again. For entrees we got the Spicy Tomato basil pasta which was amazing. The Guajillo Risotto was good. Not a creamy risotto but the flavors were good and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. We also ordered a pasta special which was a poblano corn cream sauce with chicken. I liked this but it was a bit heavy. For dessert we tried the churros (not pictured) and the tiramisu. So overall, we think it's a 5-star brunch place in the area for summer time. We ordered the Horchata Rum drink, the Birria Pizza and the Arrachera Panini. The Horchata Rum was good but probably too sweet for us. The meat on top of the Birria pizza was great - soft, juicy and flavorful. The pickled onion added the lovely sweet and sour flavor and crunchy texture to the meat. The dough was thin crust style which is what we liked and wanted, but became soggy soaked in Birria sauce. Not a problem to us just in case you are looking for some very crispy pizza dough. The panini dish was also good, but it's just the skirt steak which came in big pieces and got cooked to super chewy made us feel hard to bite down. Maybe they should cut them into smaller pieces... the bread was crispy and the potatoes on the side were really good though. We finally made it down here and it was well worth the drive. We started with a bruschetta appetizer and a sangria. The sangria was tasty and the appetizer was great. The chili honey was an interesting twist and really added a lot of flavor to the dish. We both had pizza cravings so my wife had the pear and Brie pizza and I had the 3 carne pizza. She absolutely loved hers. I was just so so with it but I'm not a huge Brie fan so it's on me. The 3 carbs was very good too. The sausage is excellent and with some red pepper flakes it was super good. I had tres Leche cake and she had churros for dessert. Both were excellent. Tauro Cocina is my favorite new restaurant of 2022. From the atmosphere to the food (and the drinks in-between), this restaurant is a sure-pleaser for fans of Italian-Mexican fusion. You could imagine my delight when I received in the mail a notice from the city of a pending application for another liquor license in my area. Being somewhat on top of the building vacancies in the area, I was pleased to see that a restaurant was moving into the former DiModa Pizza (forgive me if I misspelled that). I did not anticipate the rebirth of this cute building to be such a culinary experience! Upon entering we were welcomed and promptly seated by the close-knit workers (I'm thinking that a family mostly runs this restaurant) who explained the menu and went over the drink list. There is a lot to look at from both a drink and food perspective, and it is nay impossible to make a bad choice. My favorite drinks have been El Anticuado and a limited time Blueberry Martini. El Anticuado is a fresh spin on an old-fashioned with a great smoke finish, and I wish that the martini was available all of the time but for my health and productivity it may be good that it isn't. My favorite dish is, by far, the Spicy Tomato Basil. It consists of homemade pasta and grilled chicken in a delicious red sauce. True to the name all the way around, there is a hint of spice that is not overpowering but rather delicate and pleasing. It is tastefully plated and for once I was given a portion of pasta that is just enough, unlike other restaurants where you are either loaded to the brim or underserved. The whole works is topped with a whole chicken breast of reasonable size. I have otherwise gotten the cilantro risotto which is perfectly cooked, served with shrimp, and is flavorful every time. I am more than happy to pay someone else to cook this dish knowing what a fuss it is to make a good risotto. If I could give one word of advice: If you order the Pan de Casa (house bread), I would suggest to avoid getting the pizza. While both are good on their own, they do share the same foundation (as is the pizza will be made with the house bread as a crust). It is a lot of bread and you will better enjoy your meal by adding variety. I did have the Margherita pizza, and I would have preferred a different take on such a classic. Went here for my friends birthday lunch and most of us got the fettuccini al mezcal with chicken! It was really good and pasta sauce was creamy and chicken was crispy! The actual restaurant was super cute too! read more
