So, here's the crazy thing - I deliberately took the attached photo on my way in to write a 5 star review of my favorite burrito joint! We've been fans for years and I love the fact that they have burritos named "The Humboldt" and "The Arcata" where I'm from. Unfortunately, I was aghast at the nonchalant and indifferent lack of care and service we just received. I was picking up four burritos, so we could go eat at the hospital with my mother in law who is suffering from GBS and paralyzed from the neck down. My wife asked me to get them to split her mom's burrito into two, so she could feed it to her better. The young woman ringing me up said they don't do that. I said I totally understand the policy and explained why. She said, sorry, we still can't do it. I was shocked by her lack of sympathy or care or any acknowledgement on her face. I said ok, I would just buy an extra wrap and divide up the burrito myself, as she literally can't physically put large burrito in her mouth. She said no, I can't sell you an extra wrap. Not possible. I said I'd pay for it whatever the cost. Still no. No care. No customer service. We've spent hundreds and hundreds here over the past few years. I quietly said I was shocked and asked to speak to manager. Never raised voice, was nice and respectful the entire time and she just didn't care. Devon came over and I explained to him. He said he wouldn't charge us and no problem. I then suggested to the cashier that in the the interest of service instead of just insisting no, she should ask a manager when an exception seems reasonable. Still zero display of caring and no apology and only indifference. When I walked away I saw her turn and whisper to a co-worker. So, I give Cali Burrito one star as a message that while you have a unique and wonderful product you will lose customers if you don't allow for service. Sad. I will be back and hope they coach her and talk to team about service. But if we experience this again we will not return to our favorite burrito joint, despite the amazing food. read more

Cali burrito is absolutely the best burrito place hands down. The place is quaint and the food is awesome. Price to portions are excellent. I only eat lunch here and have been here many times never disappointed. I would have given them 5 stars but I have to say the chairs in the seating are so uncomfortable. TLDR: Everything is amazing, except for average guac and occasionally one-dimensional Burritos of the Week. Along with Loan's Vietnamese Bistro, it's one of my weekly restaurant destinations. Their tacos and burritos are delicious. I highly recommend the San Diego (fish taco), or the Big Sur (steak burrito). But literally everything is great. The "I Can't Believe It's Vegan" chili is some of the best chili I've ever had. The queso is also amazing, though they only offer one rather large size. The fresh chips may be the pinnacle of the meal...everybody grabs the flour chips, so you better be fast. The guac is meh...too smooth for my taste, and it reminds me of store bought, even though I'm sure it's house-made like everything else. Perfectly fine as a component of another item, just a little weak on it's own. Still, you can get a small side of guac for about $2.50, so make your own evaluation. The only flaw Cali Burrito occasionally falls victim to is a slight monotony of flavor and texture in some of the Burritos of the Week. It's rare though. read more

DISCLAIMER: I only eat their Santa Barbara tacos I can't speak for anything else lol. It upsets me because they set the bar high and then I get this crap And this isn't because of covid - it's been going on for a year or two Used to love this spot for chicken tacos. I was ride or die for them telling all my friends and family. When they moved, the consistency quality went down so bad. A lot of times my food is mushy and the chicken is overdone (I know what left overs taste like, trust me, I'm Dutch). The chips are crushed, the tomatoes are mushed together with the quac and old mushy lettuce. Oh and the cheese looks twice melted lol (again, left overs) disgusting it actually makes me want to vomit. Oh and they used to have some puffy chips in the bag that were SO good and now you have to search for them like lucky charm marshmallows. I know it was take-out but I got the bag right from the kitchen and live two minutes away. I'm not socially mature enough to go back and ask for a new meal and also fear the retaliation from stressed workers because I'm going to say the inconsistency probably comes from management not the individual employees. Unless they just have a good shift and a shit one. Hate to talk trash becasue I love this local spot but maybe bad reviews will change something? Taking another long break from Cali Some times I get it and it's amazing!! But then I get this garbage. I can't believe this place doesn't have a perfect 5 stars. It's not traditional Mexican food, it's more California style (hence the name) but it's amazing. I started going here when I was in college at Muhlenberg and I've gone back to Allentown since specifically for the tacos here. I dream about the sauce they put on them. I've tried for years to recreate it but it's never as good as theirs. And the salsa. God, the salsa. I could drink it. I could take an IV of it directly into my veins. Getting tacos and going to eat them in the park across the street is a bliss you can only dream of. read more

The food was NASTY. Nothing was fresh and the prices we exorbitant for what you got. The guacamole was yellow. Nothing but icky government cheese in my burrito. I'm a huge cheese lover, but that was nasty. The kitchen also look very GROSS, absolutely zero sanitation. The water tasted like butt as well, so we couldn't even drink that. I've been hesitant to write a review because I've seen Cali Burrito publicly shame people on Facebook that offer any sort of constructive criticism or feedback but I hope that as a long time customer, this will be received more professionally. I was in tonight for dinner and hoping that they would finally have gotten WiFi for the dining area but they still haven't. I just don't understand how a place wouldn't have WiFi in 2019? Sigh... But what really got me tonight was the elimination of straws. I am ALL FOR eliminating plastic straws, but they've eliminated straws altogether. That is completely bizarre and inconsiderate to customers. What if you're getting an order to go or want to refill your soda on the way out? The options are to either chance your drink spilling all over your car or to use a lid but then be given no straw to be able todrink it? Come on, guys. And I'm sure this proves even more difficult for people with children. Get some paper straws, please! The food is always good but these things bother me. And when you add that to a seemingly cavalier attitude by the staff, I'm rethinking returning. People have the option to go anywhere and I prefer businesses that respect their customers and take their suggestions to heart rather than ignoring them or posting their thoughts on Facebook for people to make fun of. I accidentally went to the other Cali Burrito that was cordoned off with caution tape first. Yikes! The parking and entrance of the correct location is a bit awkward. As other reviews mentioned, there is also only one cashier so you will be waiting a while. The other con is the burritos are a bit overpriced for the size (more expensive and smaller than Chipotle) and guac is $2 extra. That being said, I truly appreciate all of the vegetarian options. The burritos and complimentary chips were delicious and fresh. I had the Cambria because it included guac and I added pico de gallo and sour cream. In the last 10 years, I've been here at least 250 times. It's the best food to price ratio you can get and everything on the menu is delicious. I don't experience hunger for several hours afterwards. Their salsas and hot sauces are great, too. Even if the line is out the door, you'll have food in front of you soon enough. Pro tip. Always check their website to see if they are closed as they tend to be if there's any holiday or bad weather. Don't come in 15 minutes to closing either as they might have already closed the kitchen. My only criticism is that they need to repave the parking lot and paint some parking spaces. Tried the El Dorado burrito. Service was mysteriously fast, as if they knew I was going to order ahead of time. Hardly sat down after my orders when a young lady came out with a bag and called my number. Now the food. Very tasty. The beans aren't sorry or mushy but just right, with enough resistance when chewed. Pork was very flavorful. Only complaint: wasn't was a bit low. Overall, well worth the drive. Having just moved from Cali, there are some things I recognize about this place. The ample vegetarian options, which I really do appreciate. My husband ordered the Shasta burrito, which comes with seitan, and he loved it. My burrito, however, was less good. I got the Cortez, which comes with shrimp, and supposedly a "zesty pepper sauce." That pepper sauce, though, was cloyingly sweet and tasted more like cheap tomato sauce. I definitely wouldn't get that burrito again. I also wish they didn't charge so much for all of their add-ons. The burritos aren't cheap to begin with ($8-$9) so when you have to pay $2 additionally for guacamole, it gets steep fast. I liked their chips a lot-- they are a mix of regular tortilla chips and something more like wonton chips. I wished I could have had a bag of just the wonton-style chips! They, along with the guacamole, were the highlight of my meal, which we enjoyed in the Cedar Creek Parkway just down the hill from Cali Burrito. They need some outdoor seating! read more

The people at Cali Burrito are friendly and helpful. The burritos of the week are creative and tasty, though my bf says nothing will top the Stonerrito from April of '16 (though the recent Poutinerrito comes in a close second. The vegan version of this was also pretty good!). They even have fair for those of us that don't eat meat and are allergic to dairy. One of my favorites was the Mediterrito - a vegan spin on the gyro. The rotating salsa and queso specials keep things interesting. Definitely recommend this place! read more

You can't beat Cali Burrito for freshness, great taste and originality. Their burrito of the week special never ceases to amaze me and their fresh and varied salsa flavors are fabulous. We're so lucky that we can actually walk to the restaurant when the weather is nice so we not only get great food but also a little exercise. I want to like this place so much, and there are certain items I do. Usually their Burrito of the Week is legit. Their salsa and chips and queso rarely disappoints but lately (and not just once) I have been disappointed with the flavor of the meat in their regular menu burritos, the quality just seems to be declining. The freshness seems lacking in the meat/taste. I got the steak burrito and was very disappointed with the flavor of the meat, sigh. This place was soooooooooo dope vibes on vibes. When you walk in you are greeted with a smile- soothing Marley was playing when I walked in. The prices were really great. They have a huge variety. The place was so good and close to my hotel so I went twice! I got a shrimp burrito the second time and I got a chicken burrito bowl the first time. They were both incredible- especially when paired with the salsa and their freshly made hot sauces. Huge dining room with plenty of comfortable seating. I was really excited to try Cali Burrito based on the number of reviews it had, but was unfortunately underwhelmed. I got the old monterey burrito (which the person taking my order said was a customer favorite) that comes with chicken, beans, rice, cheese, and guac. They have some extras you can add on as well so I got pico de gallo and cilantro. The burrito was alright and didn't really stand out from any other burritos I had in the past. However, I have to say the chicken was cooked nicely and shredded apart without a lot of effort. The chips that came with the meal were interesting. I'm not sure if this is the norm but I had a mixture of a couple types of chips - some light yellow with seasoning sprinkled on, some golden brown chips, and some thicker chips possibly made from flour tortillas. I did like that they had a ton of sauce options all of which had a spicy component to them. I would like to see them offer some sauces that don't have heat. I also liked their salsa bar with their salsa of the week (roasted tomato, garlic, and scallion) plus the normal suspects (mild, verde, and hot). If you're looking for a quick and simple place to grab dinner without reservations, this place should be on your radar. read more

Food is good, but they're either severely understaffed or cannot handle their customer base. The wait times for pick ups is outrageously long. Ordering online indicates your food will be ready in 30-40 minutes but it's ALWAYS an hour or more, definitelythe latter. They will sooner call out order numbers while waiting instead of calling by name creating an even longer wait. If you do go there make sure you're not in a hurry because you will be guaranteed an extensive wait time. Thus far 9 order numbers after nine have been called and I'm still waiting for a simple order. Sigh. It's pretty ridiculous. read more

Growing up in Allentown my entire life and commuting between the great Allentown area and surrounding suburbs I have passed Cali Burrito many times. Always wondering but never venturing, probably due to it's slightly off location just past all the chaos of Dorney and across from Burger King it seems my early years were definitely missing something and that something was Cali Burrito. One night recently while home for the Holidays while my sister and I were deciding where our next chow down was to take place I challenged my fam to use the Yelp app to find Allentown's most highly rated place- that none of us have ever been to. That's when we found Cali Burrito, after all confirming we had all seen it a million times but in fact none of us have been there we got in the car and made the drive over. My mom was really looking for enchiladas which they did not have, and iced tea which again they only carried the fancy sugary flavors so did not score in her book. Bummer- they totally scored for mine, their tacos are in a crunchy shell which is then wrapped in cheese and a soft wrap and has some spicy mayo/chipotle type sauce that is deeeelicious. Kind of like a Cheesey Gordita Crunch (see taco bell menu) but more local/homemade and much fresher and overall tastier. Chicken quesadilla was nothing to write home about but it was good. My sister got the steak quesadilla which was filled with goods- peppers, onions, CHEESE, steak etc. The place is pretty small and was surprisingly packed! Cute little surf motif and "Cali" decor very appropriate for a burrito joint and not really like anywhere else in the valley. read more

What can I say? This place is dope. I've been going to Cali B since they moved from their tiny Hamilton Street location onto Reading Road. Everything is so fresh, the decor is cool and eclectic, they change up their salsas everyday and have a different burrito every week...that has unique ingredients that you wouldn't expect to complement each other at all, but they do. Who woulda thought horseradish would go with mac and cheese and beets, or that pumpkin seeds would go well in salsa? Cali Burrito woulda thought it, that's who. I've never been to Southern California, but if it's anything like this place, I'm making it my next destination. One nitpick though: they could use their space more effectively. The waiting area near the kitchen/register is very wide and not fully utilized; almost seems kinda pointless. And there's an outdoor patio, but as far I know it's never been open to the public...come on, guys!! read more

Cute little Mexican joint that's similar to District Taco and maybe a little like Chipotle. My hubbie and I split the Cambria and loved it. The burrito was generously filled with guac, rice, beans, and veggies. As for some sour cream and jalapeños too! The cheese quesadilla was nothing exciting, I would skip this if I returned. They have 4 salsas, the spicy (not really spicy) and salsa verde were my favs. NOT a fan of the watermelon/blueberry salsa. read more
