We've patronized this restaurant since they opened in 2007 and still after all the years and even moving to a new location, the food is still as a amazing as the first time! Traveling to Allentown for work related training. The first thing I do when its time to get food is pull up Yelp and see what is reviewed most in the area. This place came up number one so naturally I had to try it. My first attempt was on a Sunday around 5 PM, They are normally open on Sunday till 7 PM so I thought I was good but they were closed for summer cleaning. Bummer. So I ended up gong to a place nearby called Pistachio's. The following day I head back determined to try this place. Around 6 PM the place was pretty busy only 2 of the tables were left with nobody sitting at them. I wanted to try the two things most recommended by people on the reviews, The San Diego (Fish) and Santa Barbara (chicken) tacos. Since the tacos come in pairs I asked if I could get one fish and one chicken to which they replied you have to order them the same. "OK ill have both" Waiting for my food to arrive I made a trip over to the salsa bar. They had 4 different types for you to put in little plastic cups. I got the Hot red sauce and the salsa of the week which was a, Cinnamon, Mandarin Orange, Honeydew, and pineapple salsa. Looked interesting so I thought I would give it a try. A short while later two baskets with 2 tacos and chips each arrive at my table. With a puzzled look from the person delivering it as to why I ordered two meals. I decided to try the Santa Barbara tacos first. Like some of the other reviewers said the chicken is bland, the only flavor it has is charred, which is not bad, but nothing special either. There is a ton of chicken on each taco, I would say that each one easily has a half pound of chicken. The guacamole that came on the taco was very good and the sauce I'm guessing was the cilantro lime sauce also added much needed flavor to the chicken. One thing that you don't really see outside of taco bell was the crunchy taco wrapped in a soft taco with melted cheese between it. This was very good for the eating experience but I don't think it added much to the flavor. Both sets of tacos were accompanied by a mixture of corn and flour tortilla chips. I used these to try the salsa both were good but nothing extraordinary. On to the fish taco. The San Diego tacos I ordered adding pickles. I believe this was a very good choice because the pickles added a ton of flavor. The tacos were good but not the best fish tacos I ever had. I really really really like the fact that they don't use Tillapia for their tacos. The fish is fried cod for anyone else who cares about the fish they eat. The place reminded me of being in Tallahassee, just about everyone I would say was in their 20's. There must be a college nearby. Overall the tacos were pretty good but not good enough to drive the 20 minutes from the hotels near the airport to get, even worse I had to drive it twice. read more

I wanna love this place because people always talk good about it, but I really don't like it and it could be what I'm having. I gave it 2 stars because they are quick and their salsa is not bad. I have only been twice and this was the first time I'm taking a pic. First time I had a taco salad with the chicken, didn't wow me because the chicken actually had no flavor I had to throw a ton of salsa on it to get some flavor. This time and as seen in the pics I had a rice bowl chicken and shrimp. Ok here's the issue there was more dang cabbage on it then rice, chicken or shrimp. Second the rice was mushy, and third the shrimp were those little frozen shrimp that you get out the frozen section in the supermarket, if you going give me frozen shrimp they could a least give me the big ones. The other picture is my coworkers burrito. I don't remember what it was called but it had steak in it, he liked his meal even though I was highly disappointed with mine. The other picks are of the salsa, the hot salsa yum, the other one was a specialty salsa it has plantains in it, it was not bad, but I could have done without I'm not a big sweet person. Tried Cali Burrito for the first time last week and I was pretty satisfied. I had the Old Monterrey and asked for it to be light on the guac since I'm not a huge fan and they did it right. The burritos are a nice size, not wimpy but not obscene. I ate about 3/4 of mine before I threw in the towel. They hold together better than Qdoba's burritos. Chips seemed fresh, the salsa bar was underwhelming.. the hot salsa wasn't hot at all! The orange salsa was interesting. It's not super amazing but I give it four stars because it's a lot of decent food for a reasonable price. Also the place was freezing cold, made me wish I had a sweatshirt with me.. so a good place to go for lunch if your A/C isn't working! read more

I've had the "San Diego" (fish tacos with cabbage) and the "Cortez" (burrito with shrimp, beans and cabbage). While the fish tacos weren't the best I've ever had (you have to go to San Diego for something like that), they are pretty good and worthwhile. They do give you a ton of cabbage on the fish tacos, but I suppose it's good for you. ;) The decor of Cali Burrito is like a California surf shop. This is far from my first visit and definitely not my last. I have liked everything I've had. My go to is the el dorado burrito. This last visit though I had it in a bowl and it was still great. I also love their chips. My wife had the smoked tofu taco. That is her favorite. I like it as well and I'm not a big fan of tofu. If you haven't been here yet you have to go. Cali Burrito is one of the many places we have here in the Valley that ISN'T a chain restaurant! That makes it especially fun because it's not like anything else we have over here! I haven't been to it since pre-covid but I can tell you that the inside of the restaurant will make you feel as if you just stepped into a California surf shop. It's decorated with surfboards and what you would associate with California style around the restaurant. They make their own salsa fresh, and you can tell that it's homemade! It comes with chips which are also delicious! And that's not even getting into the main food items! I've had their tacos and they're very good! Everything is made fresh and you can taste it. Super fresh ingredients, obsessed with their chips and salsa! My go to burrito is the Old Monterey with chicken. My boyfriend always gets the Big Sur. Giant burritos stuffed with meat, beans and rice. Tacos and other options looks delicious but I always crave their burritos. Horrible customer service!!! Good food but horrible customer service! You would think with a 8 person order they would understand you are on a lunch break and could pack up some salsa so you could run in and leave to make it back to work, well no. We were told they don't supply salsa we have to pack it up ourselves, the gentleman told me he would pack up Some utensils. We get there to pick up the order and the girl at the counter really snobby says no we got busy over there are the utensils. Then when we get back to the office and start handing out food, there is one order missing and one order is completely messed up. We call, we are told they don't deliver and won't make an exception. Not to happy went to Cali burrito today to get my wife a taco. She has the pregnancy food urges for tacos. So I came here today I ordered a Sonoma and myself the big sur burrito. Well I get home with our food and they gave me the wrong tacos, I don't know what the hell it is but it ain't the hamburger meat and cheese taco, it was chicken. And the chicken was still like pink, and my wife cannot eat that because it's not cooked all the way through. Cali has good burritos and GREAT tacos. They offer glass bottled cokes and usually three types of salsa for their homemade chips. If I want a taco, this is my default choice every time. Their seating and service, on the other hand, are something I cannot recommend. Their chairs are all wicker recliners. You will cover yourself in crap if you sit back in them, and they aren't comfortable to sit at a table with. Tie that together with their choice to only have one register that, in and of itself, causes a line during the busy times and it seems they're not sure what to do with their space. They also have a deck....with no seating on it. My recommendation is call ahead for your order, there usually isn't seating available anyways during lunch hours. Or, just make tacos at home and be comfortable. read more

Folks seem to like this place. So this is a personal preference post based on real Mexican food in Mexico, Texas, New Mexico and California. This ain't that. This is awful if it's supposed to "Mexican". Who ever heard of Thousand Island dressing slathered in a beef taco? Yep. Fast food national.taco chain doesn't do that. Cool for some. Folks, this isn't Mexican. The hard taco shell is a fried flour tortilla. Come on. Hard tacos are made with corn. Normally. If this measure my only dislike, I'd have said nothing. Other places do use fried flour tortillas but it's uncommon. Salsas. Green, mild, hot, something veggie. Anemic. Where's the capsaicin? This is likely regional. Still, making a bottle of Tabasco available really isn't how it's done. The natural acoustics is the dining room is atrocious. The noise and echo is deafening. Hang some sound absorbing materials on the walls, please. People like it. Positive is, plenty of parking and portions are large. Staff friendly. read more

The name of the place clicked my curiosity and went to look at yelp and restaurant website. Immediately wanted to go check it out. The ordering process was a little fast paced for someone who has not been there before. But ordered and seated. Food was ready quick. And out to us. Had a bowl and burrito. Omg. What great flavors. GOOD FOOD... MISERABLE STAFF. This place is the perfect example of a restaurant whose cooks keep the place in business despite a front-of-the-house team that looks like they'd rather be far away doing something else. Good tacos and burritos. Mediocre salsas from the salsa bar. Great habanero mango sauce. Love that they have whole wheat tortillas and brown rice. Guacamole has good flavor, but also has the consistency of baby food. Good chips, but I can live without the greasy flour tortilla chips that are mixed in with the traditional corn chips. Walked up to the bored cashier/order taker 2 weeks ago and got no greeting and the faintest perfunctory quarter-second smile. No welcoming feeling here. You're just another body standing in the way of going home at the end of the shift. The person "serving" the food did her best to slap the food down and take off before consenting to help us with a minor request. It was an uncomfortable moment. The heavy-set girl with dark-framed glasses, short dark hair and unappetizing see-through stockings was quibbling with an older customer who made what seemed to be a simple request. Unreal. She either got upset over a runner in her see-throughs or enjoys using customers for school debate practice. And this isn't the first time I've experienced this. I've eaten at the former location several times and experienced the same "we're miserable 20-somethings" attitudes. Hey management... You got the food down... And you got yourself a nice new building... Now how about caring just as much about the people you hire? Perhaps you could teach them to at least FAKE looking like they care about the customers who pay their wages. Teach them to smile. (Or, better yet, hire people who do so naturally.) Bottom line?
