The hospice team called Invocare at about 6a.m. and the drivers were at our home by before 9a.m. (rush hour traffic in Los Angeles in the mix)... they were gracious and loving with my father's remains as we all continured to say our goodbyes (even draped his body with an American Flag - as my father was a Veteran). The funeral and internment was handled in the same exact way that we had it set up with the "traditional mortuary" people (for my mother's funeral/internment four years prior). My sister and brother and I planned our "celebration of life" with the help of Elena and it turned out just beautifully. Our family and friends are still talking about how wonderful my dad's celebration of life was that day! My father and mother decided they wanted to be cremated to save on costs as well as just the overalll issue of continued grief over their remains...so... Hope Cemetery lacks the basic courtesy, care, and dignity that should be shown to those who have passed on. This is such an easy issue to fix, yet it continues to be overlooked. The lack of care and professionalism in maintaining the cemetery is unacceptable. Our loved ones deserve to be treated with respect, and as their family members, we shouldn't have to constantly advocate for something as basic as keeping their resting place clean and properly maintained. I highly recommend that the cemetery provide a comment/suggestion box where families can report concerns and have them properly addressed. Our voices matter, and we deserve to be heard, acknowledged, and respected. Please do better for the families who trust you to care for their loved ones' final resting place.

These people are predatory! My 82 year old friend is grieving over the death of her 102 year-old…read moremother who had a prepaid policy from 1970. La Vista representatives have tried mightily to find some or all of this policy "unfunded", not included (since when is opening and closing of the grave "optional"?), and therefore chargeable, to the tune of over $2,000. We straightened it out! Today my friend went alone to pay what I was told by LaVista was a $312 fee for tax and interment registration. I thought she was safe. They kept her over an hour while TWO people (this admitted to me by one of the mentioned people) kept talking and (she felt) badgered her until she "understood" what they were saying- and was so overwhelmed, she wrote a check for an additional $350 to pay for headstone, grave liner, permanent vase etc. that were ALREADY COVERED by the insurance! My friend said she was SO overwhelmed at that point she just wanted to "get out of there", and paid so she could leave. I called and we are going tomorrow to pick up the check and give them a new one for the appropriate amount. The rep also told me they asked her during that hour if she believed in Jesus, and I said I was aware she did but what has that to do with the business at hand? My friend-who was calmed by this time- said it was to make her feel safe with them so they could get her to do what they wanted, and I agree. Please! Do NOT use this business (my opinion) or at least do not allow anyone vulnerable to go to the office alone.

When we brought this issue to the attention of the front office, we were told that there are no security measures in place to prevent theft and that we would simply need to purchase a replacement vase, costing over $50, each time one disappears. Considering the significant amount families pay to have their loved ones laid to rest here, this response is unacceptable. What makes this even more concerning is that it is not an isolated incident. Nearly every vase surrounding our loved ones' graves has also been stolen. Instead of feeling peace and comfort when we visit, we are left distressed by the thought of strangers repeatedly stealing from gravesites while nothing is being done to address the problem. Families come here to visit with those they have lost. It is deeply disappointing that protecting memorial items does not seem to be a priority and gives the impression that their profit matters more than supporting grieving families and preserving the dignity of their loved ones' resting places.

From the earliest moments of determining scope of service, we felt like we were in good hands. Megan R. was so incredibly lovely and supportive through the whole process, which was new for all of us siblings. When mom passed, the person they sent to take her from her home was courteous, respectful and warm...and ensured our comfort throughout the process (suggesting we leave the room for certain moments, etc). All paperwork was handled remotely through an online system, so it was easy to facilitate signing of documents without having to go anywhere. When it came time to discuss mom's cremation and disposition of ashes, again Megan came through with all the right suggestions. She was expedient in completing death certificate paperwork and final choices for urns. (again, all done through an online system, so we didn't have to stop other things we were dealing with to go anywhere for this part of the process) When mom's death certificates arrived, and I had the chance to visit Care Center in person, I felt like Megan was a caring friend. And when I decided I couldn't handle dealing with shipment of urns to my siblings on my own, she took over and completed that for me (that part wasn't cheap, but worth it for my peace of mind).
