An overly opinionated estimate tech made a comment last Thursday to my daughter that he would not let his daughter drive her car condition to get an estimate at his location. Shame on you Mr. estimator as everyone not able to have a career as auto estimator..........how convenient though! I needed to have some uninsured driver inflicted damage on my wife's hybrid repaired. I picked Caliber Collision, being in Wylie it lined up well between work and home travel, plus at least one of my Yelper friends had used them with success. We showed up on a Saturday morning and were warmly greeted by the lady behind desk. We immediately started the paperwork process of quoting repairs and obtaining rental car. My insurance was picking up the repairs and I paid deductible at end of repairs/pickup. Enterprise Rental (review pending) showed up within 20 minutes to take us to their lot which fit neatly into the amount of time needed to get quote and timeline for completion of repairs. The gentleman that managed our repair end to end was great! Our car being a hybrid was a concern along with matching the pearlescent white paint. Neither item turned out to be issue and I could see the care they took in the list of repaired labor items. Being a tech guy I like it when small companies use even a little to keep me the customer in the loop. I liked getting a daily text with status to keep me well informed. No wasted time or wondering. I did manage to screw the auto-texts up on day three but then the auto emails started with status. Word to wise don't reply to the auto text. The system might mistake the reply for a "stop" message... We had been given a Monday complete date which seemed a little too long based on the slight damage to be repaired, but in the end it took only five days and we were cleared to pick up on Friday. Promise what you can deliver and deliver early! Caliber does close at 6PM and as it turned out Friday near 5 o'clock was traffic crazy. I was heading over from house, my wife trying to fight Richardson to Wylie traffic, it was clear she was not going to make it much before 6PM. I decided to go into shop early to finish pickup process and have car waiting for my wife. That would put us there with 3 cars when you included the rental- we might have some post 6PM running around to get the rental car returned. It turned out NOT to be a problem. The nice ladies at the counter advised just park the rental and give them the keys, Enterprise would come back for it another day- problem solved! I absolutely despise wasted time- I am a planner. In the end the experience was very professional and repairs looked to be perfect. I've scanned the paint match and so far I cannot tell between original and new. Requested a diagnostic test dropped off 4 hrs later I called to check status & was told they probably would t get to it today. I really didn't expect not to have my car for the next day. next day I went to pick it up and waited 20 mins for them to find my keys while other customers came and went. Extremely disappointed. Went in and waited patiently only to be told you have to make an appointment to just get an estimate. The car is drivable and we told them we were in no hurry on the repairs and just wanted an estimate. The young lady just repeated herself on the two and a half week wait just to have it looked at for estimate. We would be repeat customers but were really put off at the attitude of this person. They must have all the business they can handle? They won't be getting ours. read more

All of this happened over the Christmas break and I was expecting lots of delays. No delays and my car was returned in perfect condition, quicker then expected. WARNING!!! Do not go here. They stripped my car of all VIN plates forcing me to go to the state highway patrol for reinspection. Also, they did the worst job on matching the paint color and car looks horrible afterwards. A lot of corner cutting. Waste of money! read more

First off, Yelp only allows 5000 characters so I had cut this down. Involved in a rear end collision, Ins Co recommended Caliber. The people were all super nice, but I am very disappointed in the work that was done. Damage to my vehicle (Jeep Wrangler) included: the tire carrier, the spare wheel, hinge cover trim (window), the tail gate, back bumper and rear frame crossmember. I was also knocked into another car but the damage to the front of my vehicle was minimal, so nothing was done there. During the initial estimate I was told the crossmember would be removed and replaced. This is an approved fix from Chrysler so I was ok with it. After dropping my vehicle off, after a couple of days I was told that the crossmember was going to be straightened because it was "too hard" to replace it. I'm less impressed, as this is structural and when you start moving things around, it gets weaker, but I was assured that it wasn't a big deal and it would be perfect. I won't get into all of the issues around getting the new parts in, but that was a debacle on its own, I finally get a call that my jeep was ready (after almost a month) When I showed up to pick my Jeep up, it was parked out front, and the first thing I noticed was that the line between the bottom of the tailgate and the bumper wasn't parallel, at first I thought the bumper was crooked, but it lined up with the tub, then I noticed the trim on the back window was missing, from there, I noticed the trim that goes on the back door was missing. I opened the door and the tire carrier rattled because it hadn't been adjusted, it was also only hand tight. When I opened the door all the way, I noticed that the plastic trim panel that goes on the inside of the door (akin to a door panel on a side door) was missing. From there I walked inside and was greeted and told my jeep was all ready to go, I replied with "No it isn't" More things that were wrong. The tire carrier was assembled wrong thought it came with clear instructions (I saw them in the bag in the original box. There was a half inch mismatch between the body line in the tub and the tailgate (this is why the bumper looked crooked, the tail gate was hung but not adjusted, and left a half inch low on one side) The trim that was missing after found was taken off wrong and was damaged, so it won't fit tightly anymore (I bought new ones) The missing trim piece on the window hinge, I was told was ordered but lost (I bought a new one) The lock in the rear door didn't work, I couldn't turn the key in it, after taking it apart I found that it'd been put into the door upside down (you have to force it to make it fit that way) and the rod to the latch mechanism had been bent so that it would fit between the two levers. And since it was in a bind, you couldn't lock or unlock the door. The paint on the tailgate looks nice, the coverage is good, but the paint has a run in it. (Really? This is how we do things?) On the door stay, whoever bolted that in, used an impact on the bottom and pulled the threads out of it, yet left the top bolt loose. I wound up having install a blind nutsert in it because there wasn't enough thread left to put the bolt back. (I had to remove it to put Molle panel back on the new door that had been taken off the old door) The third brake light wire was cut and spliced back together with butt connectors and loosely wrapped with electrical tape, but it was put back together too short and the wires pulled out inside the tape, creating a short, and blowing a fuse. Screw and harness keeper in third brake light tower was never put back in, just gone. Now for the worst part. I looked under my jeep at the frame, and they had bolted the bumper to the crossmember using the new bumper to pull the crossmember back to straight, they had tightened it down so tight that the crossmember collapsed. (this was the biggest repair item in this mess, and I am going to have to repair that on my own after all of this) I worked in a body shop when I was a kid and if I'd turned out this kind of work, I'd have been fired on the spot. From the invoice, it looks like they made a little over 2000 in labor, this was paid by the insurance company, if I had any control over that, or if I'd been paying out of pocket, I documented everything, and I would have disputed that invoice. Body shop work is a skilled trade, and requires training, craftsmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail. For most folks in this trade, there is much pride and pursuit of excellence, because of this, the labor rates are deservedly high. It's not something that everyone can just do, its hard work and that hard work shows in the finished product. I hope that Caliber sees this review and takes steps to correct the gaps in their processes. I've tried to list the more severe discrepancies in a constructive manner, so that you (customer) may benefit, whether that be, that Caliber takes steps to do a better job, or you find someone who will. read more

Worst experience of my life, and I'm 59 so I've seen a lot. They will put you on hold and never come back on the line, happened 3 times. Took my car apart and refused to do the work if i didn't agree to have a $3000 part put on a 2007 Sonata, and then had to pay for them taking it apart in order to get it to a shop that would do the work and do the bondo on the rear quarter panel. When the other shop picked it up they discovered they didn't even put all the parts back in the car. I called them 2 times and both times got put on hold and no one ever came back on the line. So I got to pay additional money for parts they didn't put back in the car. read more

I was contemplating using caliber collision until I learned that the company does not support the second amendment with its customers, however all employees in the Wylie office are licensed to carry according to the representative that I spoke to. This is hypocritical not to allow customers to exercise the same rights as they allow their employees to do. I will not do business will such business until they change their policy. read more

Called twice and they immediately hung up without saying a word. Second time, I heard back ground noise. Once I can understand. Stuff happens. But two times in a row? I didn't actually get to experience their repairs. I walked in on time for my appointment. Lady up front was very nice. The tech who came to check me in was quick and to the point. Then I waited 30 mins just to talk to their in house Enterprise rental car rep. I stated from the beginning I had to make an important meeting and they assured me it would be quick but 10 mins turned into 40mins at which point I had to walk out. Although the Enterprise guy is technically not employed by them, there n the day to be some accountability if there is a partnership and your customers are depending on it. With no end in site of the delay I had no choice but to leave. Unacceptable to wait that long just to talk to your freaking rental car guy and he still didn't come out. read more

Don't go there if you expect timely or courteous customer service. I felt like I was at an auto repair shop in a backwards 3rd world country. I was trying to get hail damage on my cadillac repaired. Called on Monday and Tuesday to setup the appointment for Wednesday. Longest phone call of my life with an auto shop. Their process is overly complex and backwards. Lady needs a lesson in customer service. Showed up there on Wednesday to drop off the car ash the scheduled time. Go figure, they didn't have me on their schedule or any record of me calling or setting up the appointment. Then the lady remembers speaking to me the day before. She then tries to explain their overly complex process again. I said I want to have the hail damaged repaired and I will pay for it. They seem to want all of my insurance and other information, but still wasn't sure when they could schedule me??? Complete waste of time. I left, drove down the street, and got taken care of in less than 5 minutes at another body shop that understands good customer service. Avoid Caliber Collision. read more

Incredible experience during a difficult time. The Service here is what every company should strive for. I dropped my car off for the bumper to be repaired. That night the huge hail storm in Wylie hit. My car ended up being totaled so I can't speak much on repairs. The work they were able do on the bumper looked good. I just have to comend this company and the employees on being highly professional, informative, and sensitive to the situation. They were bombarded with vehicles and customers in the same position but everyone seemingly put forth the extra effort with exceptional attitudes. Hopefully I don't need them in the future but if I do, i will be a repeat customer and will highly recommend them. read more

Got on a list to have my car repaired on April 2nd. They told us to call in May and they would schedule us. I called in May. They said they weren't scheduling people with my insurance company right then but that we were 'on the list'. Called back a few times, was sometimes assured I was on a list, sometimes told there was no list. Talked to someone at Caliber home office on May 31. who called around and got me an appointment for September 23rd to fix my car. Called on September 22 to arrange to drop off my car, and they said my appointment that I had been waiting about four months for was merely for an estimate, even though I had the estimate in hand when I arranged the appointment in the first place. Have to start all over again from the beginning after waiting six months total and am now at the back of the line again looking at maybe being able to schedule an appointment some time next summer. read more
