I dropped my car off at Brakes Plus on Coit Rd. and Parker on July 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. I told them my brakes occasionally squeaked when I backed up and that I needed new windshield wipers. I also told them I needed my car back around 2:00 p.m. and confirmed my phone number so they could call me with an estimate. At 2:00 p.m., instead of calling me, they called my husband. He was told my car supposedly needed more than $2,000 worth of repairs, including a tune-up, spark plugs, bushings, control arms, brake pads, rotors, an alignment, and an oil change. They also said these repairs would help with my car idling, even though my car has no idling issues and runs great. The only reason I brought it in was to have an occasional brake squeak checked. I called them back and told them not to do any work. When I arrived, my car was still on the lift even though I told them I wanted to pick it up. Nathaniel took the time to show me the condition of my brakes and the other components they had recommended replacing. I appreciated that he was respectful and sincere. He also explained that while some of the other items would likely need attention in the future, they were not repairs that had to be done right now. Based on what he showed me, I decided to go ahead with replacing the brake pads and rotors but declined the other recommended work. Nathaniel told me the brake job would be finished in about an hour. However, when I called at 4:30 p.m., I was told it would be another 30 minutes. By that point, I had already been without my car all day, had plans I couldn't keep waiting on, and was frustrated that the timeline kept changing. I asked if I could pay with a credit card on the phone and pick up my car later this evening from the parking lot, they can lock the keys in the car. Nathaniel, said no problem. When I went back at 8:30 to pick up my car, it was locked in the building and now I am without it for a holiday weekend and have to be at work Monday morning for a meeting at 8:30 am across town. My disappointment isn't with Nathaniel personally, he was professional, courteous, and honest when explaining what he saw. My frustration is with the overall experience: a simple brake inspection turned into a $2,000-plus estimate for repairs that even the employee acknowledged were future maintenance rather than urgent needs, and the repeated delays left me without transportation for much longer than promised. I would think twice about going here. read more

Brakes Plus (Coit @ Parker - Plano) 1-4-2023 Referred with flyer (had a discount coupon) from two different Discount Tire locations. Needed wheel alignment on my 2017 Ford Escape. Called first to see if they could do caster / camber on my vehicle. (Some shops can't.) Call with Jeff Houston was perfectly executed. No nonsense. Gave pricing up front on phone and setup appointment for a couple of hours later as the afternoon was pretty clear and good for me too. Came in and was greeted warmly. Great customer skills. Technically, I was very impressed. They knocked out the work but attention to detail and discussion of findings was the best! They gave documentation on state before and after repair and did a thorough inspection and test drive to make sure I would not have to return for rework. This is one of the best auto repair experiences I've had in many years. I own a number of vehicles and have struggled to find a reliable and trustworthy mechanical repair facility. I'm sold on this Brakes Plus location. Also reviewed the posted prices for basic services and they are very competitive. I will never take my car here ever again. I came once to get my brake pads changed because there was a lot of squeaking. It was still squeaking a month later so I took it back and they "fixed it" and then it squeaked again a month later and they "fixed it" and told me that "it needs to be worn in". Also, every time I went they acted like I was insane and they "couldn't hear any squeaking" even though it happens every time it brakes. FOUR MONTHS later it's still squeaking so I take it back and they totally redo my brake pads. That same night, I'm driving and every time I go over a bump, there is an AWFUL banging noise happening because they obviously have installed the brake pads incorrectly. At a place called BRAKES Plus, you'd think they could handle installing the brakes of a Honda correctly. read more

Made a stupid stupid mistake of believing that place called 'brakes plus' can do brakes on my Subaru. First price was nowhere near originally quoted ( and both were ' lower than dealers') . Ok , I knew I need new brakes , car already in bay - sucked it up. Then car started to squeal at braking.. badly. Turned out one of 'premium rotors' was not done right - fixed , wasted another half day of my time . Then two weeks later - squeals again , squeaks , all hell breaks loose... so I am out of about 800 bucks for job that should be far less and car that every deer as far as Colorado can hear and not just when it breaks , as it rides too ... awesome safety ... read more

I went in to get the breaks of my Mustang serviced. The job was satisfactory but the next day I got the "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" and I called Brakes Plus and I was told that, they can't help me as they do not have the right equipment. No suggestions, no help just a flat "we can't help you"! Not the best way to treat customers! Update: Breaks Plus Customer Care contacted me and asked me to visit their website and share details. I did and received a call from them who told me exactly what the local office told me. Yes this gentleman was more helpful and suggested that I visit the nearest Discount Tires! So essentially, we are not responsible for anything that happens to your car once we are done with it even if we caused it. Update #2: the visit to Discount Tire cost me $80! Never again! Brought my car here for an alignment. Was told left front suspension needs new control arm. Not knowing much about car, I approved the repair. A few hours later, they called and said the rear suspension needs some kind of cross bars (costs another ~$790). Suspecting they were trying to make unnecessary repair as the rear tires worn properly, I declined. I paid for the alignment cost ~$650 so I can get my car back. Now the car veers to the left badly. I don't trust this shop to touch my car so will try to get my money back so I can get my car aligned properly somewhere else. read more

I have used Brakes Plus for approx 10 years for brake pads on both our vehicles. Now I question whether I needed those brakes. My brakes on 2011 Rav 4 started squeaking when we back out of our driveway about 2-3 weeks prior to Christmas (20203). It had just rained so we waited and squeaking stopped, but then started again right before Christmas. When we took it to Brakes Plus they were too busy so we had to wait until after New Years. Asked them to check our brakes. Before-hand they quoted us $219 for "premium, lifetime warranty" brake job which we had done in March for back brakes. They came back saying the front rotors were "shredded" so we needed, not only a brake job, but new rotors and quoted $541.76. Even though they said the rotors were shredded, they said it was "safe to drive for now?" So I said I would talk to my husband because we had not expected that. I immediately called and spoke with our mechanic & set appointment for them to check. Bottom line.....Mechanic said our brake pads have at least another YEAR LEFT on them & the ROTORS ARE NOT DAMAGED at all. They told us to keep a check on them with every oil change to see when its actually time for new pads. So, it is best to find a good mechanic you can trust and always get a 2nd, if not 3rd, opinion when you have time to do so. I will never be going back to Brakes Plus, but will, instead, go to my mechanic who really isn't that much further away from our house than Brakes Plus and they are well worth the extra distance and time to be told the truth. OH AND, my mechanic's estimate IF we had needed new rotors & brake pads was way less. It's so sad businesses resort to lies so they can gouge & defraud you out of hard earned money you do not need to spend - SHAME ON BRAKES PLUS AND ALL LIKE THEM. SMH read more

I found Brakes Plus via a flyer I got in the mail for Wheel alignment. When you walk in the door I was delighted to see a very professional and clean room with a tv playing brakes plus branded and produced helpful hints for auto owners. I thought that was really cool and differentiates them from others. I was promptly greeted by a gentleman named Brand Brad who all I can say is truly exceptional and super nice! Truthfully everyone seems very nice and helpful. I came here expecting to wait for 2+ hours at minimum but I was told I will be taken care of in much less time than that. They even honored a competitor coupon with like to like service as it was within reason of their operating procedures. I have driven by here so many times in the past, and I had no idea these guys were even here. It's probably because I always thought all Brakes Plus does is brake jobs. I was surprised to see in addition to Wheel alignment, they actually do oil changes, transmission flush, coolant flush, power steering flush, fuel induction service and more. I've been bringing my old, work car here for couple of years now. I wasn't aware that brakes plus does everything except selling/mounting tires. I don't know why I hadn't written a review about this place yet, but I will definitely do that today. Last year, I brought it in there to check the ac as it wasn't blowing cold air during summer. I was told by other mechanic folks that it would cost $1200 to just to check the problem(it was right underneath all the other stuff), but Jason was able to fix the problem for $99!!! My ac in my car has been working just fine ever since. The problem was this broken piece which he retrieved it and showed it to me. Sometimes, it's good to have a second opinion. He was so honest and told me that my car didn't need any alignment after I got new tires put on my car!!! I also got my transmission replaced, oil change and tune up last month and they got it done so fast. This is my go to place for my vehicles now. Often times, us, women get taken advantage of in the men's business(which is shame, because I believe in Karma), but I feel I can trust them here. Thank you!!!! read more

I ended up having to come back for my steering wheel being left off balance and my brakes still squealing. I will never come back to this place! All that and I had to wait 2 hours for them to fix the mistakes they made! Horrible service and I got no apology! We are new to the Plano area and chose break plus for the outstanding Yelp reviews. I had a positive experience but do want to let other yelpers know, they have so many reviews because they give a 10% discount on return service if you write a yelp review and show it to them. Great way to get reviews and honestly, it means they are confident in the services they provide...not a bad thing at all. But that explains the crazy amount of reviews. Breaks Plus was great when I needed new break and an oil change. I upgraded and got the "better breaks" and lifetime warranty on parts. The man who helped me was very kind and not to mention I had my toddler with me and they got the job done within the timeframe promised. Problem is, once I left, the breaks are making a thudding sound and my break peddle is having a delayed reaction. I just dropped my car off and they are going to "run some test" and see what's going on. I'll update on what the verdict is. A week ago, I would have given this place 5 stars but due to my need for follow up service I'm hesitant until the issue is resolved. I'll make sure to update. I can't recommend this place more highly! My son is a first time truck buyer and wanted to get a second opinion from a mechanic. We took it to Brake Plus and Brad and Jason went above and beyond and did a thorough inspection of the truck. They test drove it, looked at the engine in detail and put it up In the garage to take a look underneath. They could not be more knowledgeable, genuine, and detailed when discussing the truck with us. They really took the time out of their schedule to talk with us about the buying decision and made sure we had every question answered. I've been dealing with some car issues for the past days. Brakes plus was the nearest car shop near me so I decided to take it there and get it diagnosed. After getting it diagnosed they told me that my car needed an oil change after just getting an oil change 2 months ago. I assumed that's what the car needed so I went for it. After paying nearly $200 for a diagnosis and an oil change and getting handed back my car key broken by one of the employees , my car seemed to be back and running until I got the same problem again ( which has nothing to do with them because all they did was change my oil as I thought). I went to check under the hood to see if there were any noticeable problems and after checking the dipstick , my car had little to no oil in it. I went to Brakes Plus to get my tires aligned and my oil changed. When I called before heading over, I asked if they were being safe there and practicing social distancing. I was told they absolutely were. When I arrived, the employee pictured at the counter was not wearing a mask while helping customers. Unfortunately, there were two younger customers there who were not wearing masks who soon had their father and one or two more family members show up. None were wearing masks. This is the father at the counter talking to the employee who now had a mask on but was pulled down while talking to this person. The family took up a large portion of the lobby and were continuously talking. I waited for a manager to step in and say something. No one did anything. With the temperature being well over 90° outside and very humid, there wasn't much choice of where to go. I will NOT be returning to this business and will be letting the tire company who recommended them know as well. read more

Our daughter hit her garage wall by accident and it took off the bumper. We called Brakes Plus on Coit Rd in Plano which is where we service all of our cars. Jeff, the mgr, said to bring it in to see what he could do, even though it was right before closing time. When he brought the car back out it looked like new and, even though the bumper still had to be replaced, he fixed it so she could still drive it until she got to a collision repair shop. If i could give this place no stars i would. Definitely gave me the runaround for my car inspection. Car wouldn't start so I had it towed and a new battery replaced they insisted my car was fine and i just needed a new key fob and they failed my inspection bc of new battery told me to drive it BUT failed to mention how many miles and then after 2 days my car would not start. Took it back again and they fixed the problem but failed my inspection again and said i needed new tires and to drive 80 more miles. I got ALL my Tires replaced and drove 100 miles!! Still failed my inspection and told me to keep driving it and they still could not tell me how many miles. I took my keys and left. I Should have stayed at my original location to begin with but opted for this location due to moving. Just go to any other brakes plus location. This was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Additionally when i dropped off my car on a Saturday they failed to call me to tell me they we're keeping my car till monday. I had to call them! and the previous 2x i failed inspection they never told me over the phone they just said my car was ready for pickup. Terrible customer service. read more

Brought my car in for an alignment. Steering wheel was turned while wheels were straight. The front desk guy told me they don't fix that as part of the alignment when the website clearly states it's part of the package. He said there was no way to do it without spending $300 extra dollars when I know cars, I only use shops for tires and alignments. He was lying or his tech was lying because they didn't want to spend an extra ten minutes fixing this. I took the car home and fixed it in my driveway in ten minutes without "dropping the subframe" as he said. His tech was lazy and he tried to lie to me to spend more money. He also told me there was a loose bolt in the back I could pay to tighten. That took all of thirty seconds with a crescent wrench. This place is lazy and a total rip off. I would hate to be unknowledgeable of cars and take a vehicle here to spend hundreds more on seconds of extra work that my normal shop does NON GRATIS. (Free). I repeat do not go here unless you like lazy techs and insane prices. They wouldn't even follow the websites description of an alignment. Ridiculous! Wasted an hour but saved lots of money and a headache later judging by the quality of the staff. read more

We had a fantastic experience at this location. Just relocated from California. Brad and company took exceptional care of us. They were able to inform us the car was in desperate need of some attention. Quite a bit of grinding by the time we got to Texas. They make you feel welcome here and really want to make the best and decision to get you back on the road.
