Found out they let their computer calculate how much fabric you need for a project and then the computer automatically adds more yardage than you actually need and you pay for that! Do not do business with them! read more

I had simple valences made for the kitchen. The wait was much longer than expected. When they were hung at a bay window the inner edge pattern did not match. They looked terrible. I should have made them my self and I am not a particularly great seamstress. I had to wait weeks more to have them redone. I paid top dollar for professional window treatments. What a waste of time. I also had pleated shades hung behind the curtains and now they are not easy to push back up. They will probably not last a year, and I also paid top dollar for those. Once they die I will go to Lowe's and buy off the shelf. Don't waste your time or money on Calico's products. I am very unhappy with the outcome. read more

Save your time and money and go anywhere but here. I hired Suzanne in September 2024 to have my entire home with over 30 windows and 17 doors fitted with both soft (drapery) and hard (Hunter Douglas products) window treatments. I advised I am very short on personal time and that my expectations are phase one of the project (bedrooms) are done before the end of the year. I was told this was feasible. After 4 months and 5 missed scheduled appointments, in addition to some dreadful swatches that were prints and colors I specifically said I did not want (florals with a 70"s flair for my neutral home), I cancelled the project. I sat at home for 2-3 hours of my valuable time/or paid an assistant to be at my home only to be cancelled on at the very end of the appointment window. I have a busy work schedule and carved out time for this and then appointments were missed all together or ran 2 plus hours later than scheduled. I realize things happen, this is not acceptable for the time and money I committed as a client. In addition, i was charged 2x for measuring at $175 each. I was told that there are different measurements that need to be taken for soft and hard window treatments. Okay, I get that may take more time but I was also told that it is a different person and it was the SAME guy -he came once then ran out of time because he was 2.5 hours late!!! So now I am paying for their tardiness and I have to schedule for him to come back (3x and each one was cancelled at the end or after the scheduled window of time). I was able to get one of the $175 charges refunded, however they would not refund the second $175 for the one appointment that was kept-even though it started 2 hours late and I had to go to work and pay my assistant to be at my house in hopes to get this project moving after three already missed appointments and two months. It is also worth mentioning if you go to the Calico website it says they will measure for FREE! I guess they saw my house and decided to charge me as much as they could. I plan to write a letter to the BBB and Deerfield Chamber, I was swindled. My level of disappointment is high and when I told a designer at a furniture store about my experience and requested a recommendation from her she advised-"I have been designing on the Northshore for years and have heard nothing but negative experiences, I wish you would have asked me first about Calico-I am sorry to say, all of my clients say they are just awful." read more

I wanted to share an expensive experience I had at the store relative to a Hunter-Douglas shade. Two + years ago I had two shades made with the simplest raising & lowering mechanism (simply raise & lower by hand-no motorized operation or cord to pull). One of the shades stopped working, and I was advised I wouldbe responsible for a $200 removal and $200 installation charge if I couldn't remove the shade. While there were online instructions for shade removal; I was unable to remove it (I've shade is located over a kitchen sink). Inaddition to an expensive shade, I'm now facing a $400 expense. I was politely advised it was store policy not to pay for installation & removal. read more

Yesterday I had a delightful experience at Calico Corners. I know from my customers and my Mother they are excellent in providing elegant and classy fabrics for furniture and curtains; but I was in a pinch and needed some fabric for rustic bandanas. Thank heavens for Fannie! She helped me find some cute linen bits marked down tremendously for doggie and kitten scarfs and was so friendly and efficient. Yay. Might I add I love that a pretty young woman has such a throwback name. If you want some charming fabric for curtains, furniture, pillows, whatever look no further than Calico Corners!! read more

Calico Corners in Deerfield has the best selection of fabrics. I was able to update my living room and family room so reasonably. The sales people are true designers. They will spend any amount of time helping with decisions. My family is so happy with our "new" rooms! I'll be going back soon to work on my master bedroom. read more

(you'll notice most of the positive reviews here were posted years ago) As a longtime Calico customer i thought i knew what to expect-WRONG I waited 5 MONTHS for one chair to be slipcovered-though they promised it would arrive before Thanksgiving. endless excuses, covid, upholstery guy was on a month long vacation, he said it had been delivered, etc. What a joke, then when it was finally ready it was still delivered a month after that date-no reason given. No apology, no compensation. of course I was charged in full long ago I will never go back to this terrible store if i could give a negative star i would. read more

Peter has been exceptional in helping with a faded fabric installed at our house within last 6 months. He came over promptly -- and immediately agreed that it should be replaced. Buyer Beware! I wish I had read the other reviews before I shopped here. I took some fabric to the store to have two pillows made. At the time of purchase I was asked to sign a document stating they could charge my credit card for the balance of my purchase as soon as the order was ready. Their reason was that some people don't pick up their items right away. I refused and told them I would pay cash on pickup. I picked up the pillows today. They handed me a zero balance document; my credit card had been charged without my authorization. The reason given this time was that the item wouldn't be insured unless it was paid in full. Neither explanation makes sense not to mention the fact it's not customer oriented. At the very least they could get their story straight. They offered to reverse the charge so I could pay cash. I declined. I couldn't trust these people to get it right. Then I had asked that the fabric be used to make two pillows. What I got was two slip-covered pillows. They had zippers. The salesperson then made some the comment that they don't usually make pillows from fabric that was brought in and this would make it so I could send them out for cleaning. If that was the case they should have declined to take the order. Obviously I should have asked more questions. I should have been suspicious when I had to buy separate piping since the salesperson didn't think they could make the piping from the large amount of fabric I had supplied. Absolutely the worst customer service, waited patiently for over 15 minutes was never acknowledged. When everyone else left and all three employees were standing around chatting still not one person acknowledged me. I left went home called customer service and they basically could careless! I gladly brought my $8000.00 in custom work to someone that cares. You should be ashamed Calico so much for keeping it in the community. read more

This place has beautiful fabrics of all types and the staff was nice. It is not the least expensive place, but I found so many fabrics that I liked that it was hard to decide. I've been to the usual places and have spent a lot of time looking and not finding a single thing I liked. Now I have to think of more projects. :) read more

An extremely nice and knowledgeable staff and a well-stocked, light and bright, well-organized store. The people who work here are so friendly and much less prickly than other Calico Corners stores in the area. I just love this store and the people that work there. They have so many beautiful fabrics, it is almost overwhelming. Every time I walk in, I wish I had a bigger house and more decorating projects. But the staff makes it all feel very manageable. I've worked with two design consultants there - Julie and Sheila - and I have nothing but good things to say about both of them. They have great taste, they take their time to provide excellent suggestions and options, they help you get the best price possible and the provide excellent customer service. John is the gentleman who measures and installs the window treatments and he's a perfectionist - they always look beautiful when he is finished. I sold my previous condo a year ago and the buyer wanted contact information for Calico so they could buy more window coverings from them. In my new place, all my window coverings are from Calico and they really make the place. Window treatments are not the place to cheap out - buy at Calico during a sale and you won't regret it - the quality of the product and service is worth the price. read more
