Went in last night on 4th of July. Nice they were one of the few restaurants open. It was 6:30 roughly. Hostesses greeted us and let us know it would be around 30 minutes. We found seats at the bar. Bar atmosphere is very nice. Being a local and growing up here Walt's was always nice to go to. The remodel looks good too. Ordered two drinks and here's where things went south. When we ordered drinks about 10 minutes in, within 10 more minutes and our table was ready. So we asked the bartender to bring them to the table which he did and we tipped him out. When he put my martini down I said "where's the rest of it". As the other drink was filled properly. His reply was "I'll make the next one fuller". Wrong answer!!!! This admittedly he should have properly made the drink in the first place. None the less we tipped 20%. Still very disappointing when you're paying $20 for a drink it should be full. I will say the bar is different now. The bartenders can make drinks only in one place now. The owners placed cameras directly in one spot target g the bartenders making drinks. Very sad they monitor this so clearly. They watch every measure. You will see they measure every alcohol. The wine pours are weak too. The guys are very nice but not mixologists by any means. So if you're going to the bar, get a beer. Food was ok, atmosphere nice. Table service good. However if you're looking for an all around better bar then Mahe's is the choice. They also have outstanding Sushi. If you want a better fish restaurant Los Alamitos Fish Company bar and restaurant is your clear winner here. They are better in every category. This restaurant has been around at least over 50 years! Quite an exciting restaurant to be at. We enjoyed the Clam Chowder a lot. Creamy, rich, and full of clams just what you'd expect from a perfect clam chowder. The Prawns and Chips were pretty good, only the dish didn't stand out. The fries were dry and the crust of the prawns were not crunchy. It's a nice comfy restaurant to be when in Seal Beach. Our server was very nice. read more

My wife and I decided to stop here for lunch. I heard that Walt's Wharf is an institution in Seal Beach and has been around more than 50 years. Since seafood is its speciality, we ordered a bowl of clam chowder and shrimp and chips (a special where the shrimp replaces the fish). The clam chowder was excellent: creamy, super-fresh clams, nice seasoning. And of course, little crackers to drop into the chowder. The shrimp and chips were solid, but not special, which is the reason for the 4 vs. 5 star score. While the shrimp was crispy and very fresh, the batter was too thick. The tartar sauce that accompanied the shrimp was very good. The fries were good, but on the dry side. The cole slaw as the side was excellent. Our waitress was terrific: prompt, enthusiastic, friendly. The restaurant decor was really nice with a huge wall painting of Seal Beach, complete with pier, pelicans and fishing boats and lots of open ocean. Walked into Walt's Wharf on a Saturday around 4:45pm and got on the list for dinner. The quoted 30 minute wait went by quickly. We were seated in a cozy booth and ordered: Calamari - Loved the addition of vegetables like carrots and peppers which added variety. The batter was light, crispy and not greasy. Fish and chips - Just like the calamari, the batter was perfectly light and crisp. It came with a generous portion of fries and coleslaw. Trout almondine - The fish was perfectly cooked and paired nicely with wild rice and green beans. I appreciated how its topped with a good amount of toasted almonds. For my daughter, the butter bucatini with a cup of milk was a hit. Our server was attentive and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the meal. We had a great experience and we're already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu. read more

Wonderful experience for first/time visitors. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating of us brining in our 10-month old. The restaurant is nice but not pretentious so we felt comfortable with our baby. I can't recall our server's name (she was blonde and middle aged) but she was so sweet and attentive. We chatted about kids and she took care of us our entire visit. We all enjoyed our food including the complimentary warm sourdough bread with soft, spreadable butter, coconut crusted shrimp, mahi mahi tacos, kid's salon plate, stuffed salmon, and chocolate bomb. I personally had the stuffed salmon. Hands down the best cooked salmon I've ever had. It tasted like butter and practically melted in my mouth. First time back since they reopened after they had a fire. Late lunch included albacore sandwich which my wife enjoyed. I had fish and chips that were excellent. Clam chowder is excellent. Cole slaw was good. The downstairs is only open for lunch. Upstairs is open Friday and Saturday night only for added capacity. Popular place for a long time. Met up with a friend, former colleague (an organization we're both no longer at) last night her for dinner. Though it was my first time, I can see why a lot of people love this place. More on that later. Coming down to Seal Beach from DTLA, everything was smooth. Parking too. Found street parking nearby. Enforced until 6PM so it was FREE. Unlike LA where you're dining and worrying about meters. Arrived and dined at one of the tables adjacent to the bar. There's another section downstairs as well as upstairs, but that wasn't open. Spoke with the owner, warm, passionate person who clearly has been pouring her heart into decorating and restoring the restaurant (fire) who was kind enough to give my friend and I a tour upstairs - which I felt was ready to be opened - as it looked only to be missing a few touches like artwork to fill in a few bare wall spaces. Looking around you can tell she takes pride and care in the details. Recovering from a fire as well as Covid - pouring everything you have into a project like this is inspiring and refreshing. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Alfredo (see pics). It's served with Penne, not fettucine. It's different for me as the sauce can collect in the pasta and not really coat the surface. It can give you a richer bite - just FYI in case you're like me and expecting the traditional dish. Also got a small Caesar. I liked it but would have enjoyed it more if the croutons were cut smaller. I might be wrong but I felt like the dressing was poured and not tossed (or maybe not tossed enough). I really had a good experience. The vibe was relaxed. The service was excellent and friendly. So, it just a matter of whether I'd go back or not. It's the first time my husband and I have tried this restaurant. I can't believe we haven't tried it sooner. The food was awesome! It was fresh and flavorful without the flavor overpowering the food. I ordered panco covered Mahi Mahi. It came on a bed of rice with one of my favorite veggies, green beans. The service was excellent, not rushed, but not slow either. Visited on 7/10 around 12:30. Receptionist was nice. Waitress came pretty quick, friendly, brought drinks quickly said she'd bring a 2 cokes and water but never brought the water. 10 minutes later asked if we wanted bread, said yes, and brought it 20 min later ugh. Buns are so warm and delish. Ordered pasta shrimp but was very small and mediocre for $32. Ordered fish and chips. Fish was amazing just wish the batter was seasoned more. Fries were cold and pathetic not even hand done, cole slau was dry and disappointing. Really I only ate the fish a shame since that dish cost $28. Waitress ended service with did you want water? Yeah, about 45 minutes ago! Parking is almost none and drivers will kill you trying to get to an open space first. read more

This popular Seal Beach seafood restaurant was closed for some time after a fire, but it's back now. I didn't think would need a reservation on a Monday night, but we did indeed have to wait. It's okay because we just walked around Main Street Seal Beach, which was very quiet. There are two floors to this restaurant and two rooms downstairs. One room has a wall to wall fisherman mural. Through we sat in had windows all around. You can see into the kitchen, but it is walled with glass. Several people were sitting at the bar eating. We got warm sourdough bread and whipped butter. I normally don't like sourdough bread, but this sourdough, which was kind of brown and not the normal white, was so good. Hubby ordered the Red Trout Almondine, which came with rice and green beans. It was a huge piece of fish, and it was delicious. I ordered blackened tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and bok choy. The tuna was just seated, and seasoned perfectly. It was sooooo good. It was the first day that this was on the menu, and I hope it is permanent. Lastly, our server, as well as the hostess, were very, very nice and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. read more

Approaching the restaurant, We bypassed the waiting patrons and proceeded to the bar on the far west side. I immediately ordered the clam chowder, which was exceptionally delicious. My wife opted for the House Smoked Fish Platter, not impressed with it and intending to return it, but I decided to indulge in it instead. This dish should be removed from the menu. We were served two dinner rolls. Before I could complete my meal, the bartender presented us with the bill without inquiring if we desired any additional items. Service not good. read more

We stumbled upon this place because my boyfriend was craving seafood and we were around the area so we decided to give this a shot and we are so happy we did! Being celiac, they were so accommodating and even had a GF menu! We start off with the oak grilled artichoke, which was super delicious and the lemon aïoli sauce was a perfect pair. I also got the classic mai tai, which was one of the best I've had since they used homemade orgeat. BF got the mahi-mahi plate and I got the GF mahi-mahi tacos and we both agreed that the fish was super fresh and delicious! First time back since the remodel. It's as good as ever. You just have to know what to order. You have to get the oak grilled artichokes with Lea and Perrins aioli. This is one of the signature dishes of the restaurant, and they live up to the hype. We also love the steamed clams. Make sure to ask for some extra sourdough bread to sop up the wine, butter, and garlic broth. Finish it off with the Caramelized Salmon entree--another signature dish--and you have the perfect dinner for two. The Babcock wines are also very good. The food was amazing Salmon was great had both dishes The ribeye cooked spot on and delicious Asparagus cooked perfectly and yummy Artichoke was great Walt's salad - mustard vinegarette was actually perfect...surprised Sauces amazing..except steak sauce it was ok...but maybe I'm not a big steak sauce person Meyer's lemon cake exceptional Crème Brele very good Mud pie good Babcock Chardonnay was good and I'm a wine snob Service The two waitresses I had were very personable.. I am not easy to serve...I tip well but make lots of requests...the second waitress I had...I asked for two things I never got,..but I got over it...not worth lowering my whole experience to a 4...
