Walked into Walt's Wharf on a Saturday around 4:45pm and got on the list for dinner. The quoted 30 minute wait went by quickly. We were seated in a cozy booth and ordered: Calamari - Loved the addition of vegetables like carrots and peppers which added variety. The batter was light, crispy and not greasy. Fish and chips - Just like the calamari, the batter was perfectly light and crisp. It came with a generous portion of fries and coleslaw. Trout almondine - The fish was perfectly cooked and paired nicely with wild rice and green beans. I appreciated how its topped with a good amount of toasted almonds. For my daughter, the butter bucatini with a cup of milk was a hit. Our server was attentive and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the meal. We had a great experience and we're already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.

First time back since they reopened after they had a fire. Late lunch included albacore sandwich which my wife enjoyed. I had fish and chips that were excellent. Clam chowder is excellent. Cole slaw was good. The downstairs is only open for lunch. Upstairs is open Friday and Saturday night only for added capacity. Popular place for a long time. Main Street is nice place to walk.

My goodness am I glad Walt's Wharf is back! This place has been a gem for so many years and I feel it just keeps getting better with time like a nice fine wine! Went here for dinner with a few of my friends and let's just say we were all over the moon with our meals and dessert and of course the mini sourdough loaves & whipped butter this place will forever blow me out of the water and I'm ready to go back already and I just left. Thank you Walt's Wharf & team for such beautiful ambiance, great service & amazing food!! See you guys soon !!

Met up with a friend, former colleague (an organization we're both no longer at) last night her for dinner. Though it was my first time, I can see why a lot of people love this place. More on that later. Coming down to Seal Beach from DTLA, everything was smooth. Parking too. Found street parking nearby. Enforced until 6PM so it was FREE. Unlike LA where you're dining and worrying about meters. Arrived and dined at one of the tables adjacent to the bar. There's another section downstairs as well as upstairs, but that wasn't open. Spoke with the owner, warm, passionate person who clearly has been pouring her heart into decorating and restoring the restaurant (fire) who was kind enough to give my friend and I a tour upstairs - which I felt was ready to be opened - as it looked only to be missing a few touches like artwork to fill in a few bare wall spaces. Looking around you can tell she takes pride and care in the details. Recovering from a fire as well as Covid - pouring everything you have into a project like this is inspiring and refreshing. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Alfredo (see pics). It's served with Penne, not fettucine. It's different for me as the sauce can collect in the pasta and not really coat the surface. It can give you a richer bite - just FYI in case you're like me and expecting the traditional dish. Also got a small Caesar. I liked it but would have enjoyed it more if the croutons were cut smaller. I might be wrong but I felt like the dressing was poured and not tossed (or maybe not tossed enough). I really had a good experience. The vibe was relaxed. The service was excellent and friendly. So, it just a matter of whether I'd go back or not. That's not the right question though - it's not if, it's when. Even if I don't live close by.

This popular Seal Beach seafood restaurant was closed for some time after a fire, but it's back now. I didn't think would need a reservation on a Monday night, but we did indeed have to wait. It's okay because we just walked around Main Street Seal Beach, which was very quiet. There are two floors to this restaurant and two rooms downstairs. One room has a wall to wall fisherman mural. Through we sat in had windows all around. You can see into the kitchen, but it is walled with glass. Several people were sitting at the bar eating. We got warm sourdough bread and whipped butter. I normally don't like sourdough bread, but this sourdough, which was kind of brown and not the normal white, was so good. Hubby ordered the Red Trout Almondine, which came with rice and green beans. It was a huge piece of fish, and it was delicious. I ordered blackened tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and bok choy. The tuna was just seated, and seasoned perfectly. It was sooooo good. It was the first day that this was on the menu, and I hope it is permanent. Lastly, our server, as well as the hostess, were very, very nice and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

We had a good lunch and our server, Tiffany, was great. The ambiance is nice and we enjoyed people watching out the window. I had the shrimp and chips which tasted good but didn't sit well. The clam chowder was very good too.

Our dinners were outstanding. Our waitress Christine T. was very personable and did an awesome job taking care of us during dinner! Walt's if fortunate to have a team member like Christine T. !!! The restaurant atmosphere was nice and too loud. We highly recommend Walt's !!!

We stumbled upon this place because my boyfriend was craving seafood and we were around the area so we decided to give this a shot and we are so happy we did! Being celiac, they were so accommodating and even had a GF menu! We start off with the oak grilled artichoke, which was super delicious and the lemon aïoli sauce was a perfect pair. I also got the classic mai tai, which was one of the best I've had since they used homemade orgeat. BF got the mahi-mahi plate and I got the GF mahi-mahi tacos and we both agreed that the fish was super fresh and delicious! Service was great and our server, Lisa was super helpful and constantly checked up on us making sure we were satisfied. This place is super popular and we did have to wait about 40 minutes for our table, but it was definitely worth it!!

First time back since the remodel. It's as good as ever. You just have to know what to order. You have to get the oak grilled artichokes with Lea and Perrins aioli. This is one of the signature dishes of the restaurant, and they live up to the hype. We also love the steamed clams. Make sure to ask for some extra sourdough bread to sop up the wine, butter, and garlic broth. Finish it off with the Caramelized Salmon entree--another signature dish--and you have the perfect dinner for two. The Babcock wines are also very good. We've been coming here for 35 years, and the quality continues to shine.

Ask the Community - Walt's Wharf

    Do they take reservations?

Not at the time I dined there. Should call to verify

How noisy is Walt's Wharf? My husband has a hearing disability and it is very hard for him to hear and participate in conversations at loud restaurants?

It's on the medium to loud side if it's busy. I've been in plenty of much louder places and they don't blast music or anything but I wouldn't call Walt's quiet. You should be OK. I'd take my Dad there...and he refuses to wear his hearing aids!

I thought it shut down for good?

Nope! Back open and good as always! Stop in and support a local restaurant!

    When will the restaurant reopen?

    It's open now

Where can we find the happy hour menu or what's on there ? Thanks

They have fish tacos fish tostadas, crispy calamari spinach and Artichoke dip and Angus beef sliders all for happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 PM with wine specials too

Does Walt's Wharf have an ocean view?

No. The restaurant is on Main Street - 3 blocks from the shore.

We were originally placed in a booth, but that would have been rough moving around for seconds and thirds. There was also a child with the carrier not able to be fit around the table. Was happy the servers accommodated us and moved to a more comfortable location. The buffet itself was pretty solid - roast beef, ham, salad bar, various veg and sides. Crab legs, oysters, shrimp, and sushi. Your typical buffet desserts also. Everything was freshly prepared and wasn't dry / old feeling (like how a lot of other buffets can be). It's definitely on the pricey side for a buffet, but the view, weather, and food quality make it fine for a special day out for the moms out there.

Our table was seated right in front of the singer, yet we felt completely overlooked the entire evening. We never received basic items like bread, water refills, extra napkins, or even straws unless we repeatedly tried to flag someone down. When our calamari arrived, it was missing something as simple as lemon, and getting our waitress's attention to fix it was nearly impossible. She was extremely difficult to find throughout the night--it honestly felt like we didn't have a server at all. The lack of attentiveness made the whole experience frustrating and uncomfortable. It was clear the outdoor area was understaffed, but that doesn't excuse the level of service we received. On top of that, the food was overpriced for the quality. You're essentially paying for the view, not the dining experience. You're better off at the Cheesecake Factory where the prices match the quality of food and the service is exceedingly better. It was exhausting looking for our waitress. It would've been nice to have a manager making their rounds to voice an opinion to in real time. I also want to mention the hostess with dark brown hair in a low bun, who came across as rude and dismissive for no apparent reason, which set a negative tone from the beginning. My twin sister and I were trying to seat our party together and she just didn't seem accommodating but just dismissive. I had heard great things about a server named Ashley from others in my party, and I really wish we had been seated in her section. Based on this experience, I won't be returning or recommending this place to others.

This was our first time at a SPFM and I want to say that the food was phenomenal. We ordered the world's famous shrimp plate, captain's tray and a side order of sausage and corn. This was more than enough food for 4 hungry people. The a la plancha sear was so flavorful; it was not too salty and oh so buttery. The outdoor seating was great. At the time we had our meal, it wasn't too loud and it had the right amount of sun. It was a beautiful warm Spring day (73 degrees) and we were excited to eat with the great ocean view from The Beach House Seal Beach. Paid for 2 hours of parking and walked over to the restaurant. It was only when we entered the gate where the hostess is that we saw a small sign that said, "Closed." WAIT WHAT???? No indication in the parking lot, no sign at the sidewalk, no sign walking down the walk way. The ONLY notice was buried around a corner saying Closed. We were told they were short staffed and had to close early, sorry. As we walked back to the car, we stopped at least 4 other cars and told them the restaurant was closed. We were able to alert them so they did not pay for parking at a CLOSED restaurant. It felt like the restaurant had NO consideration for the customers. To have NO sign anywhere near where customers would be parking to notify us of a totally unexpected, unanticipated, highly unusual CLOSING at 4 pm for a restaurant that was supposed to be open until 10 pm!!!!! So I called from my car in the parking lot and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager got on he explained that they were short staffed and had to close early. I discussed the lack of notice to customers and how we paid for 2 hours of beach parking. Manager was nice and polite and totally unresponsive to the fact we paid money to visit his restaurant and now had no where to eat and were out the parking fees. I recommended they post a notice where customers could see they were closed BEFORE we paid for our parking. He said they would do it after they finished closing out. I insisted it was only fair that they notified their customers FIRST. So, as we were leaving we saw an employee come out and post a sign. I took a photo because no one would believe how inadequate their posting was if I just described it. The sign is micro small. You can see our car at the bottom of the photo. Would you notice this CLOSED sign? Come on Beach House. We know you can do better for your customers.

For $50 for a couple, you get your choice of appetizer, two entrees, and gelato for dessert. For appetizer, there were two choices: mixed salad or fried zucchini and mozzarella with spicy tomato sauce. We chose the mixed salad, and it was perfectly dressed and very good. There were several options for entrees. I choose the caccio e pepe, and hubby choose Salmon Piccata with potatoes and vegetables. Both were delicious! We finished the meal with two scoops each of gelato. There were several flavors to choose from, but we are a little boring--I got chocolate and strawberry, hubby got chocolate and vanilla. I think our server may have been the daughter of the chef, as I heard them talking and laughing together in Italian. She was great, attentive and very sweet. I am sure we will be back.
