I wanted to eat somewhere on the beach front, so everyone was telling me "do Sandy's" and so I went. I believe there was a wait time to sit outside but I didn't care so I sat inside instead. I ordered the Mahi tacos and the tacos were tasty. I like the choice of pico that they added. The pico gives it that light taste of the fish. What I wasn't too crazy about was the choice of kale salad. It was mid. I wouldn't do the kale salad again. I wasn't full after eating my food so I ended up order fries at the end lol With my hard seltzer of course ~ oh yea! They give you a reusable drink sleeve if you purchase a canned drink.

He was so nice and he helped me and my dog with her plate and brought her some water and was just a very kind person.. I really appreciate great service, I didn't eat last night, but I normally do and I love the Aho Poke Tower, and I love the paddleboard salad and the flatbreads!
There are a TON of places to eat in downtown Huntington Beach, but Sandy's on the Pier keeps climbing my list every time I go back. This last visit sealed the deal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ocean view (basically on the sand), cold beers, good prices, and honestly one of the best ahi sandwiches I've had in a long time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So many ahi sandwiches are bland and forgettable... this one came out swinging. The tuna had a bold peppered flavor, the sauce absolutely carried the whole thing, and every bite had that "okay, THIS is why people come back here" vibe. The sweet potato fries were fresh and crispy, and somehow even the ranch deserved a shoutout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But the real magic is the atmosphere. Where else can you basically sit on the sand with little internal fire pits going, ocean breeze blowing, a great bar setup, tons of beer choices, and just an all-around laid back beach energy? It feels like classic Huntington Beach without trying too hard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was great, food was excellent, and the whole place just has that "stay another hour" feeling. Big thumbs up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We picked Sandy's specifically to hear steel drum music. They had live music on a Sunday with Danny Williams from 2pm to 6pm[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was super busy. We were really happy to be able to get a seat outside close to here him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is right on the beach by Huntington Beach pier it has a huge inside with a wraparound bar and then a smaller patio outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress Tracy took good care of us. She made recommendations. I had the Miami Vice, which was a beautiful combination a piña colada with strawberry my husband had some cold beer. We enjoyed the ceviche although a little disappointing it didn't have any avocado even though stated on the menu. Drink some food were great if I had to give one downside, it is a 90 minute turnaround for table and listening to the music with breaks between sets It wasn't a lot of time but well definitely be back!
When in HB and wanting a drink by the beach, make sure you stop at Sandy's! We had already eaten but were craving dessert so we shared a strawberry cheesecake. It was pretty big and greet for 3 people and oh, so delish! We had cocktails and they were all very good, nice and strong at a decent price. Their ambiance is totally casual and fun. You can't beat the views of the beach and ocean while sipping on a drink. I love that they have a small section of Dog Menu items too! Very dog friendly!
We don't frequent here enough. We came with the kids for an early dinner. The punch cocktail was so good. The clam chowder was phenomenal. We were sat very quickly and we had 10 people. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have tall high chairs for babies if you get sat at a high top which is very convenient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was live music playing on the patio and lots of tvs inside to watch games.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Kids loved the kids meals too. That's always a plus for my picky eaters!

For lunch today, I've decided to hit up a beach front restaurant in Surf City (Huntington Beach) called Sandy's Beach Shack. Located in the same building where The Duke's is at, lower level. Today was Wednesday, it was sunny and cool here. I've sat at the patio area for fresh air with nice beach view and food. My first time here, the server highly recommended the tacos which by the way it's known for. For like hunger side, the burgers are highly recommended. I've decided on the Mahi Tacos which I've never actually had before. Presentation of the Mahi Tacos looks stunning with that habanero sauce aside made it even better. Took a bite of that, and it's sooo delicious. I feel it was enough to satisfy my hunger. Before I left, I've made sure to order that big o mud pie. That thing was huge and very delicious. For $13, it was very reasonable. Tacos was $20.45... Mud Pie was $13 like I said. Not bad for a beach front restaurant. Overall..... Will be back again when I'm in the area again.
Came here for a birthday lunch. Parking is tricky, there is a parking lot next to the group of establishments, but it's often filled and will cost money to park there. We ended up paying for parking across the street where there is a parking lot for a separate group of businesses, and walking over which took about 10 minutes. We got seated outdoors with a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like the wide spaces within the restaurant with a lot of lighting and sunlight shining in, and the servers are friendly and have a lot of energy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the ceviche and clam chowder for starters. The chowder was disappointing because there were so little clams in the chowder, it was mostly potatoes and cream. The ceviche was not bad though, and it's great that theres avocado provided. For entrees, I like that the size of the portions were pretty big. The mahi tacos have a lot of flavor and sauce which makes it less dry, but I didn't think the feta cheese goes well with the fish. Also had the beach bum burger that comes with bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomatoes. It's a little basic, but a classic good combination and a good size. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience, but the food was just ok for the price and not very creative.
Came here on Wednesday night for 5 $ Kona beer with souvenir glass.in the ad.. It was our first time. No happy hour here and the restaurant is not very clean. We were not very impressed. No happy hour. We also ordered a Gen Tonic and no alcohol, I could not taste, full of cup soda. So horrible. We asked the souvenir glass and the bartender said we ran out. Did not even apologize. Never come back here. I wouldn't recommend this place.
When around H.B. Pier it's hard to decide on where to eat. There are so many places. Today I picked Sandy's. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I chose outdoor seating so I could watch the beach action.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Delenay was my server, and she was amazing. I love Cod, so I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the fries were nice and crispy. All the other dishes I saw looked really good. I'll be back, and hopefully Delenay will be my server again.

We came on a Friday around noon, so it wasn't too crowded. That said, service was a bit lacking. We had a hard time getting our server's attention--she kept moving around without really checking in on us. For a slower lunch hour, I expected things to be a little more on point. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. I ordered the fish and chips--the fries were hot, crispy, and exactly what I was craving. Unfortunately, the fish didn't sit well with me and my stomach was not happy a couple hours later. My friend, on the other hand, ordered the fresh salmon with mixed greens and kale slaw and really enjoyed her meal. Overall, great location and solid ambiance, but service and consistency could use some improvement.

With reservation, it's not tough to get in but without a reservation, it might be difficult to get a table during busy hours. The food was good but the server forgot my order and I ended up eating only appetizers. it's Great if you want to hang out with friends for a drink at a beach. 2026 review 07.31.2026 Was hungry, they took us in immediately! Sat outside at the patio area overlooking the beach. The Surf Opening was occurring that day. Got to feel the ambiance and vibe beachside. Ordered a Ceviche plate and a Bottle of Champagne aka mimosa using Guava and POG juice. All were served within 15 minutes. The waiter was courteous and kind. He kept checking on us to make sure we were good. Kudos to him for being professional and attentive to us. I appreciate that very much. Overall, had another great experience at this location. This is the closes restaurant by the pier. You are paying for the ambiance. Also a warning, if you want breakfast.. this is not the place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a beautiful location right next to the Huntington Beach Pier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot adjacent to the restaurant was completely full, and after circling around for a while looking for a spot, we ended up parking across the street in the Main Street parking structure. We were planning to visit both the restaurant and the farmers market, so it worked out just fine. The restaurant is located directly below Duke's, which is another spot I'd like to try in the future. I actually came here because I saw their clam chowder bread bowl on the website, and I've been on the hunt for a really good clam chowder. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty busy. I requested outdoor seating, and the host was kind enough to accommodate us right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio offers a beautiful view overlooking the beach, which made for a great dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For our meal, we ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip as an appetizer, along with the Chowder Bowl, Bikini Paddle Salad, Steakhouse Tacos, and Fish & Chips. The chowder bowl was very good. I especially appreciated that they make the chowder in-house. It was loaded with potatoes and had a rich, creamy flavor. My only complaint is that I would have liked a few more clams. The Steakhouse Tacos were delicious and had a unique flavor thanks to the addition of blue cheese crumbles. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip was also served in a bread bowl, which was a nice touch. The Fish & Chips were probably the weakest dish of the meal. According to my mom, the fish was a bit bland. However, she really enjoyed the Greek-style salad that came with her meal. Overall, this is a great spot to check out if you're spending the day at the beach. My husband and I just moved to town and decided to bike over to the pier and came across Sandy's. They had a taco Tuesday deal and when I say these are some of the best seafood tacos, I've ever had, I'm not kidding! Usually with places with a view, you don't get great food but food, service and views were 11/10. Will be back for sure! read more

Yum! And healthy! We had some time to kill before our Anaheim hotel was ready and super hungry after a plane flight. Huntington Beach seemed like a fun idea! Wandering along the waterfront path, fate guided us to Sandy's Beach Shack! They have attractive and ample outdoor seating, but we chose indoor because the wait was shorter. It was still open air, so felt like a shaded patio. Mahi tacos, calamari, shrimp skewers, ceviche, and mai tai were ordered. Every entree was fresh, beautiful, and delicious. I can't believe they can make a kale salad (side order) taste that good. We ate every bite. Loved the couscous side too. Thanks Sandy's! We'll be back some day! read more
I thought this place would be gimmicky due to its beach-front-location but I was truly impressed with my meal! So dog friendly that they offer a dog menu, which my pup approves of! This is probably as close as you can dine by the ocean, the view is beautiful! Because of the nature of that, parking can be tricky. I parked in the public parking structure near the down town for free and walked over to Sandy's, but you can park closer using meter parking on Main Street. read more

Really disappointing experience today at Sandy's Beach Shack. We sat at the bar around 3:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, and it wasn't even busy. Unfortunately, the bartender seemed far more engaged in long personal conversations than paying attention to customers. We sat there for about 10 minutes without ever being greeted, acknowledged, offered water, or asked for a drink order. What made it more disappointing is that this hasn't been our experience here in the past. As locals, we've been to Sandy's many times before and usually enjoy it, which is why today stood out so much. We eventually left and went upstairs to Duke's, where we had a great experience with prompt, attentive service right away. Hoping this was just an off day, but today was definitely subpar. read more

What a great location, right on the beach. The wait was about 15 minutes, which wasn't bad for a pretty packed place. Dog friendly patio so it was a plus for us. Their Mai tai was really good and a lot of beer choices. We got the fish and chips as well as the calamari strips. The fish was really tasty and fresh, but the matter was mid, no flavor of that part at all. The calamari strips though were delicious. For sure a must. Live music was playing and it made the whole night feel extra fun and relaxed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with Sandy's Famous Mai Tai's that were strong, tasty, and served in the cutest tiki cups with little flower garnishes! Yes The calamari was amazing too, especially the dipping sauce, plus a fresh little kale bean salad on the side. We shared a few plates and everything was delicious! The Fish n Chips with alaskan cod was super flavorful, the fries were perfect, The Surfer Sandwich with the caesar tossed lettuce on the sandwich was really good, and the Steakhouse Tacos were the standout with an incredible sauce. We finished with Mud Pie for a birthday and it was the perfect sweet treat! Ginormous! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful spot right by the beach with patio seating and umbrellas, and we walked the pier after dinner which made it even better![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was great! This is one of my favorite places to hang out in the summer. I've never been disappointed with anything here, but my go to is the salmon burger. I especially love coming here for drinks with guests. It's absolutely fantastic for people watching, and it such a great relaxed vibe. And I adore the tiki vibe and colored lights, particularly at night, it adds to the atmosphere. read more

First of all, this is my GO-TO spot in Huntington Beach- not only do the drinks take me back to my time in Hawaii, but the SERVICE is fantastic! Food was great- we enjoyed the Chicken Tacos and Bruschetta Flatbread. The sauce that came with the tacos had the perfect kick and flavor! View is great of Huntington Beach whether you sit inside or outside. We dined at the outside part of the bar and bartender Matthew took care of us! He was prompt, friendly and service was fast with food coming out quickly. Will be back again read more

Very fun and relaxed ambiance!! The food was delicious, the server was so patient and helpful (we had 3 kids under the age of 4 with us) and the location is amazing being right on the beach!! You can dine outside with the sea breeze or inside with the views out the windows. I loved my fish and chips- the fish had a great crunch on the exterior and was moist and fresh on the inside. The pesto pasta was loved by adults and kids. Would definitely come back and recommend to others! read more

We visited Sandy's again this trip to CA from AZ and it did not disappoint as usual. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went for lunch had a table outside great view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had great service very attentive. We had the spinach artichoke dip everyone loved it. I had the quinoa salad added shrimp omg it was amazing could not eat it all. So good. My daughters had the chicken Cesar sandwich which they loved. My son had the salmon tacos which he said was good w the pineapple salsa and my husband had the swordfish tacos which he loved had such good flavor and nice spice. The beer is good here too big selection of drinks. We will definitely be back again next time in town. read more
I've wanted to eat here for years and just never been. We finally came here for some burgers and beers for my birthday and it did not disappoint! Would have wanted to sit outside but it was a bit windy, so we sat inside. The service was great. Our server made sure we never ran out of beer or water. We both ordered the burger with a fried egg on top + fries and the fries were delicious! Extra crispy. We will definitely come back for more. read more

Yes, although our hours are wrong on our website, they are correct on Yelp. We are working to fix the problem on our website.
How do I make reservations?
Even during the busiest times of the year, I've never had to make a reservation to get a table in under 20 minutes.

There are several bike racks under the pier across from our front entrance where you can lock up your cruisers and join us!
