Ordered three window treatments that I was promised would be ready in 4-5 weeks. The installer came out and measured the space for the curtains. 6 weeks later I was informed they had not measured correctly and I owed them additional money. Really? They screw up and I'm charged. There was no apology whatsoever. The process took double the time promised. I'll be looking for other options in the future. read more

Never again. I picked up a fabric sample several months ago and ordered it recently. The fabric sent to me by Calico Corners in November 2017 was not the same quality as my sample. Turns out the sample given me and the yardage still in the local store is from early 2014! Close to four years old. I was told that the yardage I received is the "current version". The fabric went back to them. Shouldn't a customer be warned that they might not receive the same quality as their sample? Not too much to ask, is it? read more

First the good-Calico has a wonderful selection of beautiful material. The bad is that they don't stand behind their mistakes. I had a slipcover made for a pull out sofa bed. The first three times I pulled the bed out it ripped the cover-first a part you couldn't see when the couch was folded in, but then a rip that was visible. I called each time. Eventually, they sent out the man who made the cover that insisted the opening was large enough to pull the bed through, which quite clearly and visibly was not. He insisted it was my fault and "I needed to be more careful". I was being careful, and further more I never had any difficulty with the old cover I was replacing. After several more phone calls a person from the store accompanied the upholsterer to the house and she immediately told him that it was obvious the opening was too small. He argued with her. but did make he opening larger and the bed now can be pulled out without ripping. No one ever apologized, and I am stuck paying 1800.00 dollars for a slipcover that has multiple visible sewed rips, including one that can be seen when the couch is closed. read more

I LOVE Calico Corners! I generally have just gone in there to buy fabric but I have had some upholstery done and they did a beautiful job at a reasonable price. I have purchased custom drapery rods and shades also and appreciated the time and advice they gave me. I recommended them to my daughter in San Diego and she has used Calico Corners in San Diego for draperies and some custom upholstered pieces. The draperies are fabulous. I agree the staff can be a little aloof, but now I have one lady I go to and I avoid the rest. read more

The whole store is fabulous! The fabrics and trims are top notch, up to date and every style and color imaginable. As a designer I love bouncing ideas off of the uber talented group. Every visit is a great creative process. Julie is amazing she has an eye for details that add pizazz and always taking care in making sure the best design is met. Karla is a color fiend, so fun, great eye. Lynne has a flair for unique looks in all areas so great to get her input. Terry has the kind of creative energy I want, so clever in all areas! Karen fields the in home visits, but when I catch her in the store I love to see what she's working on, always inspiring. Bonnie is the wonderful wizard who makes sure it all happens with a smile that calms all around and together with Nicole who is on task with all the parts and pieces I know I can rely on my projects running smoothly. The icing on the cake is Kevin, his professionalism and efficiency with installations. And the lady who steers this fine tuned staff to success is Ramis, always taking the time to share her unbelievable talent and taking care of one and all, she makes it a pleasure to be there always. Wonderful fabric selection., yes! I decided upon Calico Corner knowing I would pay premium price but wanted quality service and end product. Customer service is terrible. The quality of drapery service, specifically the construction or sewing quality very poor. Very pricey, long wait for drapes to be made and had to be returned 3 times to get them right. Incorrect hardware was ordered incorrectly by sales associate, installed and then had to be removed and new type reinstalled. I was charged in full upon their fist install without notification. Speaking to the manager was a less than professional encounter, she was argumentative and rude. read more

So today, I called to inquire why my refund for the backordered trim had not appeared in my bank account. A woman rudely stated, as if she couldn't be bothered, "WE'VE DONE THE REFUND ON OUR END AND I have no idea when the money might reflect in your account." She said it was up to my bank how long the credit took. When I mentioned that credits haven't taken this long from other vendors and I didn't think the delay was due to the bank, she said again that all she knew was that the refund had been processed on their end. Won't shop at that store again. Ever. read more

What a BIG mistake for me not to search other companies with the same business. I went ahead and tried their service quite recently. The two previews reviewers were absolutely correct. The staff are unfriendly, including the installation person. He did not even have a courtesy to throw the old blinds. They are very expensive moreso for a super lousy service. We spent close to $4,000 on reupholstering and on a bed skirt, comforter and shams. The decorators were nice, but very impersonal and not very friendly. The order took 3 months and there was no follow up during that time. When the order finally arrived a couple of the items we had included in the written order were not ordered. When I finished with the final payment I went to collect my items, and although 2 decorators were standing close by, I had to ask for help in carrying items out to my car. read more

So. Unbelievably. Rude. I was trying my first upholstery project, and I decided instead of going the easy, inexpensive route (i.e. downtown L.A, fabricguru.com, etc.) I would try to support a local store. I was disappointed when I rushed after work on a Thursday, the only day they are open until 7pm, and I got there at 6:45. The ladies there rushed me and basically tried to shoo me out the door. They seemed annoyed that I tried to show up right before closing. When I mentioned it was my first upholstery project, and I was looking for some fabric that was pet-friendly, the older lady basically told me I had unruly cats that shouldn't be on furniture - right, because it's their fault they shed? Then she proceeded to follow me around telling me it was 6:52, 6:57, etc. I even had to tell her that if she would just stop interrupting my shopping I would have selected a fabric by now. Anyway, another lady came in after me, and they just ignored her so she walked out. It's a shame, I was looking to spend good money there. read more

Ordered a sheer drapery panel with a rod pocket. Simple straight stitch with the rod pocket. Was told that it would take 4 weeks. After inquiring when it would be ready, was assured that it would be done on the Friday, only to find that they could not find the piece after 50 days because it was NOT ready. The sewing needed on this piece could have been done by anyone with sewing skills. Cancelled the order. Waiting for sample template to be returned. Not professional in any way. read more

All the reviews are correct. I'm kicking myself for not doing my research prior to visiting this location. I worked with Felix and while he did a good job of entering an order, he oversold me fabric. I'm not talking 10% extra or a yard to be safe, I'm talking about 50% more than needed. Needless to say, it was an extra expensive visit. When I asked him to cut the fabrics down, he was going to charge me a 20% restock fee...he ended up not charging me for the restock fee for one of the fabrics after I reminded him it was his mistake but he did want to charge me for the other restock fees. All the employees are very rude (and condescending in dealing with customers) and not the most helpful. I wouldn't necessarily take their advice re: measurements and would highly recommend purchasing elsewhere. read more

How much they charge for a upholstery is also double what you can get just by going direct. You can be in there for hours and the snobs never say a word to you ..they're just so busy they can't even say hello.. My husband and I walked in here expecting to find a store packed with old ladies looking for everything 'country kitchen' - but boy were we wrong. This place was filled to the gills with beautiful fabrics in amazing colors and patterns from silk to velvet to designer to outdoor - you name it, they had it. Julie was our salesperson and even tho we looked like we couldn't afford to buy a rag, she spent over an hour with us, showing us endless rolls of beautiful and sturdy cat-proof and kid proof fabric until we found the one we loved. She told us if we didn't like what we bought, we had 30 days to return it for a full refund. And that's exactly what happened. We were able to return it and got our refund with no problem. Yes they are bananas expensive, but not any more so than Mood or Diamond Foam. I'd definitely come back again. read more

Over the past 7 years, I've purchased many pieces of furniture, and had shades made for five separate rooms. Every single piece has been beautiful. I worked with great designers who listened to me and turned me on to really unique fabrics. The store can be expensive but you can really get good deals with the fabrics on sale. I was told up front that the furniture and window treatments would take about 6 to 8 weeks to make. When I asked them why, they explained to me that every piece of furniture is custom made to order. So that means that every order is specially made for the customer, and made in the United States. I'd also really like to compliment the designers I've worked with over the years. Some have been exceptional, and all were really knowledgeable. They always were able to find the right fabric for the job. I'm happy with the final product, and glad I waited to get what I really wanted. read more

We used Calico for drapes in our last house about 10 years ago and they were so great. So when we bought a different house we of course went back to them. What a horrible experience the whole way around. Horrible customer service when we went in, after a couple of trips there we thot we had it figured out, but didn't purchase right then, a few days later they called and said if I didn't give them a credit card # right then we wouldn't be getting the drapes for a very long time. Unfortunately I was in the middle of quite a few things so didn't think it thru, gave my credit card number and it still took a very long time to get the drapes. Here we are 8 years later and having problems with one set of drapes, I call and they say it's $150 to have him come out and fix - ok, we need it fixed and it's cheaper than getting new drapes. He comes out, I show him what the problem is, he doesn't bother with that but he takes a bracket off the curtain rod and says that's the problem and he will "try" to find another one like it. Over 3 months later I call the store and ask about paying $150 for him to take a bracket off and she says that the fee for him to come out, I say well the drapes still don't work right but she doesn't bother taking my information so anyone can check to see if he "found a bracket". Never again - you pay that much money (they are VERY expensive) you expect to be treated right. read more

I have been going to Calico Corners for many years to buy fabric. As others have noted, the sales staff is a bit stiff but once you get their attention, they can be very helpful and polite. I had a good experience picking out some fabric to reupholster (slipcovers) two slipper chairs I have. The slipcovers were not inexpensive even with the sale so I was expecting good service to go with the price of the covers. However, that was not to be. After waiting 2 weeks for the fabric to arrive (apparently standard time for delivery), I waited and waited for the upholsterer to contact me. Finally, I was given his phone number and I called him. He claimed he had called me two times but could not get through. This was strange and when I checked on my phone machine, it appeared he had not called. However, I let this go and he told me he would come by my house at a specified time in the next week. However, he did not come. I called in and went in 3 times total to ask about this issue. On the last occasion, someone called the upholsterer and he told me over the phone at the shop that he could come to my house immediately. He claimed he was in the area. He seemed competent at cutting and making a template for my chairs and promised to contact me a week later. Of course, he didn't. Finally, after I called him, he agreed to come over at a certain specific time which I stipulated because I would have to drive back to my house after work. When I got home before this time, I discovered he had supposedly come to my house and found me " not there" even though I had arrived at the time he claimed he came. Long story short, he said he would make an appointment for 3 days later to fit the chairs. On talking to the labor manager at Calico Corners about my disappointment and my lack of trust with this individual, I was more or less told that she believed his fishy story about a young lady hanging up on him several time, etc (he had embellished the original story quite a lot!). At this point, I informed her I would bring the chairs to the shop and expected them by the date he had mentioned or I would request a refund! Good service from the shop staff but poor service, lack of follow up and rude treatment by the labor coordinator. Does she ever contact the upholsterers or seamstresses to see if they are doing their job efficiently? And how about contacting customers to see how the upholstery or other jobs are proceeding? It's as though once they have you hooked, they just hand you to their laborers and forget you. You have to go into the shop to get any help, such as it is. Very, very poor service and lack of professional conduct by all after the sale! Finally, my chairs were completed after 8.5 weeks of waiting (in what was supposed to be a 4-6 week process). They are beautiful but the experience was not! read more

I have used Calico Corner for window treatments in my previous homes. I did not hesitate to find them again for my new place in So Cal. They have beautiful fabrics that are affordable. I worked with Karen who is one their designers. She took my samples of wall color, furniture and carpet to create several different combinations of draperies that were all gorgeous! We selected a pattern that I would not have considered without her expertise. Kevin, the installer, arrived promptly to take measurements and again for the installation. I have been using Calico Corners in Pasadena for years. I went in today to get a chair re-upholstered. I mentioned to the sales person that I had been coming to them for ever. I have had them make me comforters, bed spreads, window seats, pillows and re-upholstering chairs and sofas again and again. They always do quality work. I wanted custom cushions made for a kitchen banquette. The main requirement was that the fabric be child friendly and easy to wipe clean. Julie spent as much time as was needed to find the right fabric, even going so far as to test for stain resistance with a bottle of mustard from their lunch room. She suggested a contrasting Sunbrella print fabric for the back cushions which transformed the space from just average to a lovely, cozy nook! The somewhat irregular dimensions of the cushions were a challenge, but with Julie's expertise and diligence they fit the banquette perfectly. All in all, an enjoyable time working with Julie. read more

The best fabric and upholstery store in the San Gabriel Valley. Moderately priced. Very beautiful, high quality fabrics, many different styles, weights and textures. 20% off sales (fabric and labor), and their staff is knowledgable and helpful. I generally go to Calico Corners in sweat pants and a T-shirt and I've always been greeted at the door and well taken care of. They warn me when a fabric is too delicate for a chair or the repeat is so large that there will be a lot of waste when they could easily just let me make a costly mistake. I've bought old chairs I don't need just so I can get them upholstered at CC. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are totally overpriced, which isn't really my issue. But, if I'm going to pay top dollar for a product and service I would expect a completely different experience. I ordered fabric and labor to reupholster a chair in January. I just took receipt of my chair this week ... almost 3 months to date of order. Fabrics were delayed and then sat in a warehouse. If not for my continual calls prompting inquiry this would have taken additional time. When it came to scheduling the labor to have my chair reupholstered the contact hardly spoke English and was very difficult to coordinate pick up/drop off times with. And in between, the store staff had ZERO information about the status of my chair and many phone calls went unreturned. I honestly worried if I'd ever see my chair again. While the fabric is beautiful the labor is average ... not laid evenly and corners of the chair are left exposed. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the entire experience and finished product and will never use Calico again. read more

I visited Calico Corners this fall to find upholstery fabric for my grandmother's antique love seat and matching chairs. The store was recommended to me by my upholstery guy. I brought in a picture of the furniture, which helped the sales woman tremendously. She spent more than an hour showing me fabric, talking about different colors and textures, and explaining current trends as well as timeless classics that would work. I had such a hard time deciding, but she was patient and helpful, showing the same fabrics over and over until I figured out exactly what I wanted. Then she suggesting doing the chairs in a complimentary fabric and color, rather than having everything matchy-matchy. It took a long time (you can't just drop in 15 minutes before closing), but it was time well spent. I got some beautiful fabric that's going to look fantastic on the antique furniture I inherited from my grandmother and that I will pass down to my granddaughter. The delivery took a few weeks, which I knew ahead of time, but it came when Calico Corners said it would. Call me a satisfied customer. read more
