I hope I can gave a 0 star. I have been using their groupon deal for oil exchange for the last 3.5 years. Recently I have to have my cover repaired because it literally break. And I came to the store and wanted to show the problem of my car. And they said "just stay inside, do not come out". They acted like I know nothing about my car. They asked for my key and checked my car. I decided to have my under cover repaired in the shop because I wanted to do it asap and they told me the transmission is also leaky, which is a major problem. I asked them for a quote and they gave 3100$ for the transmission leak. On the report, they did not say what part of transmission went wrong, how much the part cost and how much the labor cost. They only said it will cost them two day to repair it. I said I will think about it. I had transmission repaired two years ago with honda dealer and because of this, I came to Honda to argue why the Honda did not fix my transmission leakiness. I went to another repair store that was recommended by my friend. The guy working there gave me a clear quote, which part of transmission broke, how much part cost and how much labor cost. Guess what? It cost less than 250 dollars (tax included) to repair it. Do the California auto center lie and want to rob money from me, a girl who had her car broken, car waited in the shop to be repaired and helpless? How dare they lied about the price because they apparently think I know nothing about car? I look younger than my age and I am a PhD. Do they think they can cheat a PHD? The best thing I am good at is research. They will lose a loyal customer and I will never recommend this shop to any of my friends or you. Be careful not to be deceived by them especially you look young and a female, who they think if ignorant of car common sense. I brought my car in to repair some dents and scratches on the bumper. Was told that the bumper would need to be replaced and that it would take 7-10 days to be ready. Not only were they able to repair the bumper instead of replacing it (saving me over $200 from the estimate) but the car was ready in 3 days. Wonderful customer service. I took my Odyssey for an oil change since I had a coupon. I was pleased to get an appointment in a couple of hours. I took the car in, the guy seemed nice. Then all the shady stuff happened. They recommended synthetic oil, which is more expensive, because they said it was manufacturer recommended. We've had the car since 2006 and we're never told this. My husband checked the manual and said that was not true. Then they said all these fluids needed to be replaced and there was a leak on a part which they quoted $500 to fix. Smelting all this since the car had been maintained regularly, we took it to our regular mechanic the next day. He said the fluids were a little low, but not more than expected and replaced all of them. What struck me as odd is that I spent a lot of time when I went to pick up the car getting this huge explanation about the recommended items (for additional money of course). One of them was the break fluid which was empty. This made me feel very nervous about not following their recommendation. Looking back I feel like they tried really hard with their scare tactic to get me to do what they recommended which turned out to unnecessary. We won't be going back there. read more

Took my 2014 Subaru Forester here to have a check engine light tested. When they figured out the problem, they took the time to explain to me what was going on in terms i could understand. They fixed everything quickly and cheaply and followed up to make sure the fixes worked, which they did. I was so happy with the service i took my car back a week later to get new tires. I called them for a quote to mount/balance and disposal of 4 tires I previously bought for my car. They quoted $63.00 out the door on the phone and I asked if I came down now , could they could do - they said yes. Go down there (30 minutes out of the way) and then they said it would be $110. Guy lies and says no one called for a quote when I'm looking at my call log now. What liars, and a huge waste of my time, effort and to drive out of my way to then have to wait over 2 hours for the work to even start and then for the price to nearly double. My usual rule is to write a review of a place after I've been there atleast 3 times to see if it changes from one visit to the next. However, this place is just that special. Today was my first visit. I just moved up to Norcal recently for work and needed a quick oil change. I didn't have time to setup an appointment, but once I drove in all he told me was they're a bit busy at the moment and asked me to return in 30 mins. Not a big deal it was my fault for not have made an appointment to let them know I was coming. So I head across the street grab a bite and return promptly 30 mins later. He didn't play dumb and simply got out the paper work, got the information and asked what type of oil change I wanted for today. I asked for a synthetic blend and that was that. The prices were posted on a white board behind the counter, with varying levels (conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic) so you can pick the best option for you. No sales pitch, no questioning my decision, just a simple "Alright, just have a seat and we'll get your car done soon." I waited 30 mins and they came back to me and let me know they gave me a 27-point inspection, filled up my tires, checked the treads and brakes, and some of my gaskets. They informed me that my valve cover gasket was leaking and recommended me replacing it and gave me an estimate on the spot. I thanked them for letting me know and they pulled the car out and I was on my way. Overall Impressions: I was very surprised and caught off-guard by how fast and professional they are. When you walk in, there isn't any pressure to fix this or that. What ever YOU decide to get done will get done in a timely fashion and if there are other issues they will let you know about it. They won't try to force you to get things fixed for the sake of it. I appreciate that honesty. The prices that I was quoted seemed fair and reasonable. I wasn't entirely blind-sided by them. Now their personal service is what stood out to me the most. There was 1 guy working the front, and the mechanics in the back. While I was sitting there and waiting, 2 other groups of customers came in with varying degree of work and estimations. He was able to get them through the queue in a matter of 10-15 mins. One other guy was there for his first time too, but he needed some body work and tire work done. However, the way they spoke to us (the customers) was like we've been with them for years. I had yet to find a better place to get my car checked and serviced. Even if I move away from Millbrae, I'll surely be back to this place for any future car needs in the Bay Area. read more

I had an oil change service at this shop on my 97 MB E320 with 89,000 miles on it. It's been garaged since new, and I average under 5K miles per year on it. It is in nearly pristine shape. When I went to wash it today, I found fresh scratches in the center of the hood, and several small dents in that area when reflected in the right. I went back to the shop and spoke to Po Leung, who told me he was the owner/manager. He quickly looked at the damage and promptly told me "It couldn't haved happened here" before accusing me of damaging the car myself. I will never return and am considering filing a small claims court action against this businesss for the damage they did and will not accept responsibility for. It's sad when you can't trust a business to do the right thing when given the opportunity. read more

I went here on a groupon. They changed my oil but not my filter. I was told this by another shop when went to go get an alignment right after an oil change. Also oil was splattered all underneath the car when they finished so they didn't even bother to clean up after themselves. Be careful you get what you pay for. read more

I was referred by my friend to this place. Brought my BMW last Thursday in to do some servicing, Met the "main man" Andrew who treated my very professionally and is very knowledgeable. Got it done and it costs only a fraction of what I usually pay for in the BMW dealer. I saw all kinds of vehicles there for service. Not only high line cars but also Toyotas and Hondas. Kudos to them for their service and their state-of-the-art technology. Why pay more when we can get it done for less? Definitely will recommend them to my friends. read more

I bought a groupon and called in to have a same day appointment oil change which took less than 45mins which was done while I was getting some errands done. Customer service was all around excellent and accommodating. Besides the oil change they did take a look at my brakes and some other things to maybe come back for future services but they were not pushy or aggressive at all. I have been coming here for a few years now. They are truly honest. They will take the time with you to explain all of the issues the car may be having. They will have you review and sign when you first arrive at initial inspection. Then as they do the work and come across further issues they will take the time to show you the issues you have on the car - the nail in the tire, etc. and help you understand realistically how much more time you may have on certain parts of the car. I appreciate how responsive they are when making an appointment. I am a female that has experienced issues where people try to get one over on you - they do not do that here. I risk more people coming here that may make it harder to make appointments in the future as I write this review but they do good work and deserve being recognized. read more

I come from a small town where my uncle fixes my car, and so when I moved to S.F. I was concerned about finding a good shop that would replicate the trust and performance of my uncles shop. California Auto Center is just the place!! I bought a Groupon in March to get my oil changed here, and they treated me the same as a customer who paid full price. The oil change came with a complimentary inspection of my car during which they found that my belt needed replaced. The mechanic showed me the belt and explained why it needed changed as well as walking me through the cost. In the end, they were able to replace the belt for $30 cheaper than they quoted!! My break light recently went out, and I had such a positive experience the first time, that I went back to California Auto Center. Again, was more than pleased with the customer service!! I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. I will definitely be returning with any future auto needs. read more

This place is the best!!!!! Yesterday my kids and mom and I were on our way home from SF to Orange County. My alternator went out, we walked in at 4:30. The people there were more than nice and they stayed after to fix my car so we could get home and not have to get a hotel. Also their prices were great. I am forever grateful.
