My husband and I hired these people to install some doors on our tub and shower years ago. They convinced us we needed holes drilled into the bottom of our tub because it was hollow, but they would cover up the holes with a finish that had a supposed guarantee to never peel, chip or fade. The finish has worn away, and now the holes are exposed. I sent info to the company over a week ago and after multiple reminders, I have yet to receive even a phone call to tell me that they are not going to fix it. They charged me $450 to drill the holes and paint over it and now I have to hire someone else to fix it. Don't hire these people. Their guarantee is BS. read more

Based on the reviews I was very hopeful. I was quoted for refinish of shower pan, clean and replace grout and recaulk...when he was done I was looking forward to that "oh my goodness, sparkling clean" moment..boy was I wrong. It honestly looked like I could have had the same results with some bleach and a good scrubber in half a day. There was still mildew and mold in the grout which obviously he did not replace. So disappointed, I'm really sad that I had to even pay anything for that job. Save your money and save your time. The people are really nice, I wish the work that was done was nice also. Update: I did contact you directly, but you chose to respond to me through yelp instead with my full name. I chose not to continue forward with them based on the work done today, would you? I paid for what was done, shower pan refinish and caulk, even though I was unhappy with the overall initially promised product (see my posted estimate for the service that was supposed to be provided, mildew still there even though they "cleaned") We just bought the home and never touched the shower believing the refinishing would take care of everything so we wouldn't have to worry, but unfortunately we were wrong. I will now have to clean this myself, which is what we were trying to avoid, esp after paying 300+ dollars for what was half done, does that sound discounted? Or find a reputable company that is good on their word and will provide excellent service and product the first time around. read more

Glad we didn't use these guys. They didn't really know the codes or didn't tell us until we called the City. Could have cost us up to another $6,000 to complete the job to code. A lot of flaky contractors in this business Had a very nice reply from contractor. They failed to mention that an architect had to be involved to present plan to city on work to be done. The company was just not knowledgeable on the issues of this job in a high rise condo. read more

We had both bathrooms done 2 weeks before Christmas last year. Ernesto showed us all the options for types of walls (we went acrylic) and he was able to accommodate what we wanted in our budget. Enrique and Ramses worked 4 days to paint, put up new acrylic siding for the tub, remove/install a bathtub and install a rainshower in the guest bathroom. The master bath took 6 days. They extended the shower wall to be flush with the rest of the bathroom removed the old shower walls and installed new siding, sliding doors, floor pan, and rain shower. Needless to say, everyone loves the new look of the bathrooms and the rainshower heads are the icing on the cake. Great job CBK!!! read more

I gave these guys a try because they were recommended by a family member, that being said I wouldn't recommend them . Looking for a complete bathroom remodel,spent about an hour or two with the rep and haven't heard anything back despite being told I would receive an email or call within two days, it's been over a few weeks. Prices seemed a bit steep if you don't have a clue (had a few quotes) and I also noticed a few of the more modern pics on the site were found other places on the net... A bit fishy if your putting things off as your own proprietary work. Overall the rep was nice, prices seemed steep and follow through sucked. read more

[Well, I wanted to append this to my original review, but readers will get the idea.] Undated updates lack a little context... This one is May 2019, and these three installations remain some of the best investments of a lifetime. After time, where shower stream is hitting direct, the material loses its shine and takes on an ivory-like patina that's very attractive. In the case of that old tub, direct force around the drain has eroded the material completely -- quickly remedied with the appliance-scratch aerosol mentioned above. Mask off your drain, wipe the surface with a little liquid-sandpaper product. (To the curious researcher, I will share this and whether you come to this set of experts or some other, a couple of these things may not have to occupy landfills for a million years needlessly. That one-piece shower-bath combination that we think nothing of sawing into pieces was set in place at time of construction, so there's no correcting your mistake in the future. And, whatever comes into that space for all of time will have seams that likely, eventually leak. The tile and stone admittedly look delicious, and genius installers are out there -- all so affordable! A reliable installer may promise fifty years use, safe in a certainty that he won't be called back for patching. 'Sounds like a lot but it's... not. My humble suggestion: Go for it in a kitchen, a hallway, the garden, but preserve and appreciate your old fiberglass one-piece. Chances are good it's never coming back once you've signed off on the thing's demise, short of removing a patch of wall or reversing time. Refinishing is your friend.) read more

I have had CBK come out twice over the years to refinish bath tubs and once to replace mildewed caulking in a shower. In all cases the worker showed up on time, the work done was excellent, and the prices quoted were fair. Dealing with the staff at CBK has been a joy especially with the timeliness of returned phone calls. Tub started peeling within warranty period. After a month of delayed responses, was told that it was not covered under warranty because it looked like it wasn't reported right away based on the picture. Warranty they gave me did not state this as a condition (I sent them a copy of original warranty). They offered a 10% discount off an overpriced repair. read more

I am so happy with the work done by these guys. A while back I called to get a price on respraying 2 of my bathtubs. I got a price that same day after sending pictures of the cracks on one of the tubs. The tech arrived early and was super nice and respectful. He did such a great job and everything looked amazing! CBK were the only people I called once we finally decided to buy a home, going through the house there were things that needed remodeling, the kitchen was awfull, tiny and had some funky pink tiles and cheap cupboards. I did a walk through with my house inspector November 2015 prior to purchasing our first home which was built sometime during the late '70's. One of the items the inspector pointed out was how the bathtub had cracks along the edges. The previous homeowner made the necessary repairs which deemed the bathtub sufficient for use. Fast forward to May 2016 and different areas of the bathtub - particularly the edges and the middle area - began cracking through regular wear-and-tear attributed to daily use (we only have one bathroom.) I was beginning to suspect that this was the original bathtub that came with the home when it was first built. Such repairs were considered "cosmetic" in nature and wasn't covered under my home warranty plan. I was concerned that water was seeping through the cracks causing potential damage to the underside of bathtub and leaking into adjacent spaces. I went through several contractors and was quoted up to $6,000.00 for a new bathtub replacement which included demolition of the surrounding area (i.e. ripping out tiles, replacing old bathtub, repairing necessary plumbing components, etc.) which only covered labor. I felt that the added extra work was unnecessary just to replace a bathtub. I remembered a plumber who once told me about bathtub refinishing without having to rip out a bathtub and decided to explore this alternative. We discovered CBK and immediately signed on with them to get much needed bathtub work done. Linda, the office manager, was accommodating and seamless in providing an upfront estimate and coordinating dates/times on my work order (bathtub, tiles, sliding shower door) which took place in two phases. Phase one (Day 1) consisted of: * Cutting a hole on the bottom of bathtub * Removing all the underside components such as foam, etc. * Applying cement to the bottom of bathtub making area more secure/less prone to cracking * Reinforcing bottom with a fiberglass epoxy * Sanding entire bathtub * Applying primer, paint, silicone seal, and caulk restoring the bathtub to a new look * Acid wash applied to tile area which acts as a shower wall * Tile area grouting reinforced making it more water proof Phase two (Day 2) consisted of: * Shower door installation The bathtub needed to dry from phase one before phase two began. Samuel was the one-man-show who performed all the work in phase one. He was prompt/professional, showed up on time, knew his business, and worked tirelessly from start to finish. He essentially transformed an old and beat-up bathtub and surrounding shower wall tile area into a work of art. The bathtub now looks and FEELS as good as knew. Enrique was also prompt/professional and brought razor sharp skill in closing out the final touches. He installed our sliding shower door which replaced shower curtains. I can immediately sense that both Samuel and Enrique are passionate about what they do because it shows through their workmanship. Both technicians are HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended for similar home improvement projects! Would I return as a repeat customer? YES, YES, and YES! Because I'm elated on the quality of work and the variety of services offered. It's like one-stop-shopping for home improvement everything! While we did have some problems with the install the company stood behind their product and redid the entire job until my wife was happy. I had a few small surface cracks in an upstairs bathtub that I was concerned might leak or expand. Tim and Lilliana showed up early, explained everything they were going to do, called me in multiple times to show progress, finished in less than an hour, and charged me the minimum of the quoted range. Can't really ask for more than that from a contractor. I really appreciate it when a contractor thoroughly explains the job while it's in progress, as it shows pride-of-work and assures me that they care that the job is done right. My dear one had painted our old 70's tub, first grey (by accident) then when that chipped, he did it white and then we had a grey/white patched tub. Geraldo had done my mom's neighbor's tub so I gave him a call for a bid. Unfortunately, my aforementioned dear one developed cancer so couldn't be around acrylic paint so we waited a year and then called again. Samuel did the job in about 3 hours which shocked me and the fumes are pretty bad so one has to be out of the house. Samuel said it was his hardest job ever and I believe him as another company said they'd be sanding for hours but he just used the paint stripper. It looks brand new! However, they say you need sand on the bottom to keep it from being slippery and we take mainly baths so it's not very comfortable (and unfortunately he got it on other areas of the tub too:(. Two weeks ago I had this company remodel and add safety features as I am 66 and thinking of my future age to come. My son found this company while walking through the Del Mar Home Improvement Show this year. He brought several pamhlets back for me to look through and insisted that I call at least 4 of the companies and get bids. I did do this and I choose Califonia Baths not only for their fair price but for the quality of their materials and the informative professional way in which I was treated. Hector Adame, Sales Rep and Geraldo Munoz, Sales Mgr met with me in my home and discussed at length what "I" wanted. They were extremely helpful and helped me to choose the materials that best fit my needs and budget. Then the date was set. Fidel the technician came and in 3 days finished all that I had asked for. He was courteous, professional and absulutely knew what he was doing. He layed down tarps to cover my hardwood floors and covered my bedroom so that he could do his "magic" in my Master Bath. It was a "PERFECT" job. I never saw anyone work mas hard, always asking if this or that was the height for my samll frame and also if I had to sit as I became older. I can't express how happy I was with the whole process. If you are thinking of redoing a bathroom...please consider this company. They are the best at what they do. Had a 70 year old tub resurfaced. It looks brand new and cost very little to refinish. A few months after the resurfacing, I noticed a chip. It looked like something dinged the tub but we couldn't figure out what since everything is plastic in the tub area and should not have caused a chip. For weeks I have struggled with whether or not to write this review, and after much thought, I really feel I must. I contacted this company to refinish my shower. Two guys came out Saturday of the same week. They were late in arriving, failed to call and notify me they were running behind and them came in and commenced to start my project without even introducing themselves by name. After arriving late, they left 1 1/2 hours prior to the time I was advised they would be here. The technicians did not adequately clean up after themselves when they were finished and just seemed anxious to be done. They placed something on my toilet seat which left a light ring in its place and failed to adequately tape off the bathroom, which resulted in spray residue being left on the porcelain toilet and the window sill. After they left, I had to sweep and mop my bathroom and hallway because both were entirely too nasty to walk on. In addition, one of them took the liberty of utilizing my toilet (as confirmed by brown residue evidence). This occurred without my knowledge or consent and was highly inappropriate! In addition, there was VERY strong odor from the chemicals they that made it impossible for me to sleep my master bedroom for a month thereafter. I have used this company in the past and had a great experience, but this experience was a total nightmare. Gerardo came out to complete the job (clean up toilet and window seal and re-hang shower door), but unfortunately the disappointing experience could not be reversed. I had to call Gerardo back a second time concerning the lingering smell, which finally started to dissipate the day he arrived. I do still detect the smell on hot days when the bathroom has been closed up but at least I can sleep in my room again. I was charged full price for this job (except a customary senior/military discount), which was very disappointing given all the factors I have described. Unfortunately, despite my strong first impression with this company years ago, my more recent negative experience has overshadowed my earlier impression. This was an unfortunate development since I connections with a major multi-tenant landlord within the county and one of the largest residential RE brokers in my area. It seems the company has lowered its standards which will only allow its competitors to take advantage of the situation. My concluding recommendations would be: 1) be responsive to customer concerns; 2) when a customer advises you they are gravely disappointed in the level of service received - believe them; and 3) be selective in the people you hire to represent your company/brand. read more

Our tub had been covered up by previous owners to sale the condo. Every time I cleaned, it kept pealing. Eventually a four inch rust spot and a couple of other rust spots started showing up. I called a couple of places to get an estimate, California Bathtub Refinishers was the only place that actually came out to give me an estimate. Francisco (hopefully I spelled his name right) gave us several different options. We were impressed with him, very professional and honest. We settleed on an option and he went right to work on repairing our tub. After he was done, our tub looked almost like new. They were very clean and did a great job.
