I beg you to keep this review on here! Just cause it's 5 stars doesn't mean it's a fake or robot review! Where to begin with the awesomeness of Andrew and his crew... 1) Andrew called us around 8:30 am to inform us of the approximate time of arrival. But they missed by a few hours but they were so nice to call ahead when that happened. They apologized profusely because the previous job they had unfortunately required extra hours since the truck couldn't get close enough to the house since the job was at Los Gatos Mtns. Anyway, they gave us an out-of-this-world pricing that nobody can beat! I shopped around and they were recommended to us by another company that also got great reviews on yelp. 2) These guys WORKED THEIR BUTTS OFF! I am so proud to be the first few to review this genuinely nice company and owner! 2 THUMBS UP + 8 Fingers up. My sis-in-law was so sick during this move too and thankfully they were so sympathetic and even gave us 30 mins off on top of their already below-market hourly rate! I mean that kind of gesture is really appreciated. Their standard is $69 but bc they were late due to the previous client, and that we booked very last minute (which they squeezed us in) We are so VERY VERY VERY THANKFUL! 3) They are so good at what they do and clearly the owner knows what customer service means to the T! He is so pleasant to talk to on the phone and honest. 4) Gentle people so your stuff are in good hands. Very important for me so I'm so glad this whole thing worked out! I am a firm believer that if you do good things for people, you will be rewarded! So please do keep up the great work and treating people like your own friends and family. Called Starving Students. They 3rd partied our move to this company. We sent SS the list of all the big stuff and was told no problem. There was a 2 person spa dry weight 280 lbs. A grandfather clock. 2 large screen TVs. And a bunch of stuff. Alot already packed and ready. 2 guys showed up. One was just from the local swap meet. Had no clue what he was doing. They told us they did NOT move glass!!! They were not going to move the spa. No ceramic pots. The dryer, because it had a 5 inch window. 3 decorative vases for out side. And a few other things. They only moved the spa because they were doing me a favor..... they DROPPED it. Long story very short, it still worked but scratched up. We moved the TVs. We moved the vases. And everything else. They took the bed frame apart, all wood sleigh bed type, did not wrap it. But wrapped the couch and recliner!!! Moving the dresser they flipped it upside down. As did the 2 night stands. When bringing the washing machine the kid had it on the dolly. While waiting for the other guy to maneuver the dryer into place, the washer was laid down on the dolly on the wood floor and leaked water all over... Had a 3 hour window, 116.00 an hour. It went into 5.45 hours!!! We will NEVER do this again. It was a total waste of time and money. The amount we paid I should have gotten guys from my work and been way better off.... and bought them lunch! Still trying to get grandfather clock to house! There is other bad stuff but I figured this was enough. read more

They just moved us on Saturday and I can honestly say that this was one of the smoothest moves we've ever done...and we have moved quite a bit! Communication to set up the move was excellent. Andrew gave us a great pricing on both the rate and the packing materials costs. The movers were on time, professional, and worked so hard nonstop the entire time; and they were working for about 11 hours! We have a 4 month old baby and they were super considerate about his feeding and napping schedule and working around that. It was stressful moving with a baby but they alleviated a lot of that stress. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again. read more

WOW! I can't say enough about the California Bear Moving and Storage team that helped move my daughter from Martinez to Sacramento!!! They wrapped each piece with blankets and taped and shrink wrap some pieces. The two guys were fast ,funny and amazing. Super professional and the move in was great! Using California Bear Moving was the best decision my pregnant wife and I made during our last move in San Jose. They showed up on time and worked very quickly from start to finish, not cutting any corners along the way. If I could give negative stars I would. I wish I knew Starving Students used 3rd party companies. That was never disclosed to me so I guess I'll need to write a review for them as well. CA Bear Moving is trying to overcharge me over $1300 after my "FINAL" invoice. Uhm.... why call it a final invoice by one of their employees if the next day they want to charge $1300 more for things they "forgot" to put on their "last invoice." I'm in the process of fighting it with Starving Students. Based on some of the other reviews on Yelp and BBB, I've blocked any further charges from this company. They also damaged quite a lot of our furniture and didn't show up with the appropriate supplies for our move. Oh and also 3 hours late. Do NOT use this company! read more

I was totally dreading my move across town and based on all my prior moving experiences but California Bear Moving changed the game! They were quick, efficient, and even arrived ahead of time, which was awesome! They packed up my 5 bed, 3 bath and moved everything without one broken item. Stop and read this before choosing your moving company. We were relocating from Sacramento Area to So California, we had our dates for the move set up, and then due to escrow, the dates changed, we called the company, and spoke with Brian, and changed the dates of pick up and delivery, a couple weeks in advance, (with additional charge for storage from 5/30 - 6/3, we confirmed the date 2 days prior to pick up, and they were suppose to be there between 7:30- 8:00 am, at 9:30, no movers, a call was made to Brian, and he said movers would be there in the early PM, or we could wait until the next day, this was unacceptable, since we had to be out of the property by 2:00 pm, he rerouted someone to pick up, they finally arrived around 10:30, and we were out by 1:45, Calif Bear was to store the furniture and deliver to new home on 6/3. They arrived a new house on 6/2, and person who was moving, still had her movers there, trying to get all her things out of the house. California Bear, starting unloading our items, on to the front lawn. We have used professional movers 2 other times, without any problems or damage to our furniture. we had many items damaged, due to movers, needing to get to their next job. If you use this company, make sure you get everything in writing, and if a change is made, get that in writing also. read more

The confirmation email was very detailed and clear about what was and was not included in the pricing. They arrived a little late. But once they did, the wasted no time. The crew was very pleasant and worked quickly and efficiently. The billing process was also very professional and we weren't charged a penny outside the charges mentioned in the confirmation email. The movers were on time to meet me at the storage, they were very organized and strategic when it came to moving the furniture out of the storage and into the truck. Moved from Santa Clara to San Jose, 2 men and a truck. I was really impressed with their service. They came on time. They were fast and meticulous, they even helped us tape up some stuff. They had blankets for the fragile stuff and for shelves with moving drawers. We moved from a downstairs 1 bedroom place to a 3 floor house. Both the guys were terribly tired at the end of the ordeal, but they ensured that every box was placed in the correct spot in the house. Thankful for their assistance. My wife had just given birth and the movers who moved us where so curious . We moved from San Jose to Livermore . 5 bed room house and pool house . They came in padded all my furniture and packed my whole house I was impressed didn't take any breaks .The crew disassembled and reassembled all of our beds. That was a stress reliever!! called Starving Students, they gave me to 3rd party California Bear Movers. Sad, Mad and disgusted. They over charged me. I moved 10 minutes down the freeway, had 10 pieces of furniture. It took 5 hrs. They tried to charge me for 6 hrs!! They 1. stole my toolbox. 2. scratch my beautiful table. 3. Charged me for moving materials that we're not used. 4. Refused to refund money even though Starving students asked them to take care of it. Both had my card number and charged me excessively so that I had to cancel that card. Tiffany (starving students) tried but was unable to resolve the issue and Brian CA bear movers never responded to request. read more

I contracted with Starving Students out of Martinez (which I guess is now closed) because I had used them in the past, apparently California Bear was subcontracted. Every piece of furniture was wrapped in a blanket every professionally. Arthur was great; however, his assistant David was obviously very new and was not proactive in moving stuff to the truck. They arrived within the time frame given; however, with a truck that only had a lift gate, no ramp like most moving trucks, this slowed down the process of loading and especially unloading the truck. Had to load the lift gate, then lift the gate, and unload the lift gate into the truck. The same in reverse at the destination. It took them 8 hours plus 1 1/2 hrs (3 hrs) drive time. This was more than 2 hours longer (even when you take out the drive time) then my previous move with the exact same furniture/boxes/etc. The "actual" starving students had it loaded/unloaded in 6 hrs plus 45 min (1 1/2 hr) drive time. TIPS: 1) Use a truck with ramp access to the back, a big time saving when unloading boxes on a hand truck. 2) If you have a new guy or training a guy send another experienced person. read more

They never showed up. No manager would call me. The driver told me with 1 hour left in he window that he was going to be about 2 hours late. Then when that time came and went I called the driver and he said it would be another hour. I finally get a call from who I thought was a manager. He wasn't. He hung up on me and wouldn't listen to me asking for a manager. Now the driver won't answer. I have no clue if they are showing up or not. Literally worst experience I've ever had. We set up a move through starving students, not knowing that they contract out to another company, which, is how we came in contact with CMB. We had a bumpy start with time framing, due to SS not CMB, but overall Andrew and his team showed up on a Friday evening and worked quickly to get the job done.
