We just grabbed a super delicious lunch at this California burrito location. I actually can't believe we have never stopped here before while driving out of Sacramento. It's right off the freeway so it's very convenient and the prices are super reasonable. I think we paid $12 or $13 a burrito and I had to put a ruler next to it because it was so big. Check out the photo; It's like a full 8 in and totally packed. I got some crispy tacos as well which I love and a lot of places don't offer the option of crispy so I really appreciate that. My favorite from this brand though is always the rolled tacos. They are super crispy and have lots of toppings. I will say that the food can be a little bland and definitely needs salt and maybe a little seasoning. If you love Mexican food but you can't really handle the spice, this is a great spot for you to try. The rolled tacos with guacamole will definitely be my go-to in the future and we will be stopping here more often for sure. read more

8/26/26 - This was my first visit to this location. They were advertising their special of the day: A taco, enchilada with beans, rice & salad plus a medium drink. I couldn't pass that up and I was glad I didn't!!! The enchilada was the best I have had at a restaurant in years. I opted for steak. The sauce was very good!!!! The taco (ground beef) and everything else was good too!!! Most people were coming in ordering to go. There was only one other customer dining in! I didn't really see too many drive-through orders and saw only one delivery driver. I am sure they probably have a very busy day from opening until after lunch. They are right on the side of the freeway (frontage Road). Very, very clean!! It looked like they had a play area but either are remodeling or taking it out. My dinner was: $14.00+. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at California Burrito. I order a chicken torta and my brother order a burrito. I ate half of my torta before noticing mold on the bread when i was about to take another bite. It completely disgusted me and honestly made me feel sick knowing i had already eaten part of it. My Brother called the restaurant to let them know, and instead of taking the situation seriously, the employee immediately responded with, "it can't be because the bread is fresh." That response was unprofessional and dismissive, especially considering we have a picture for proof. Serving moldy food is unacceptable and can seriously make someone sick. Accidents happen, but the way the situation was handled made it even worse. I hope they start checking their food more carefully and take customer concerns seriously in the future. read more

The food here is horrible had a beef taco and a cheese enchilada which was terrible The cheese enchilada was not even meted cheese on the inside. It was like they opened a can of enchilada sauce dumped it over the plate the taco you couldn't even bite into the beef. It was so tough. The rice and the beans were not good It was just a horrible, horrible meal. My husband and myself both had the same thing and it was just not edible. Won't be back to this store however the young lady at counter is always sweet. We will miss her. They say I have to give them a star rating for this review. California Burrito is a former Burger King that was converted into a Mexican restaurant. It's a great spot to satisfy that Mexican craving when you are on the road near Hwy 99 outside of Galt. They have a drive thru which make's things super convenient as well. Had a carne asada burrito with rice and 3 tacos and they were all scrumptious. Plenty of seating inside and service was quick and friendly. Love that they have a chips and salsa bar (red spicy salsa is very good). If you are traveling near this spot, I recommend you stop in! read more

Ok, in a town (Galt) where you can't throw a rock without hitting a taqueria, I have given serious thought to starting a petition to rename this town to Taqueriaville. The greater majority of these places are not very good imho.... Tequileros Taqueria is an exception to the rule. The food is very good there but the location is not that great. It always has a odor of some sort of industrial cleaner and the seating is not very comfortable and it's limited. But hey, the burritos as very good and portioned well. We have dined in one time before at Cali Burrito but could barely take the cold inside the building. We thought we would give it another try. I had the chorizo burrito and my wife had the machaca burrito (which I had before). The young lady who took our order was very polite. This particular location was the town's only Burger King for many years. The employees were great but whoever owned it did not take care of the location. It was in serious need of an update. The Cal Burrito owners did not do much in the way of updating or revamping the location but at least it was clean and no so chilly this time. Our food was delivered in short order and and we were not disappointed. The burritos are fairly large here and and well stuffed. And they were hotter than blazes! and not from the salsa. Overall, it was a good value for the price. Both burritos were just over $20 and neither one of us could finish them so we took them home and had them for dinner later (still just as yummy). So for me I have two choices for mexican food in town now. I'm still waiting for this town to get a legit Mexican restaurant... The two currently in town leave a lot to be desired. When we're looking for a sit down Mexican Restaurant experience we typically go to Lodi. Casa Flores on Kettleman or El Pazcifico on Pine. Both these places are ridiculously good. Saw this pop up in town and thought it would be nice to find local carne asada fries I like (I've been spoiled by Davila's on Mack rd. I got the carne asada fries and the lady got a California burrito and both were absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and helpful with questions. The interior is fairly unchanged from the former Burger King but the food was straight fire. Will 1,000% be coming back to try more. Happy this place is an addition to our town read more

California Burrito - Special of the week this past week #17 - Mexican Near Me - Galt, California

3 stars because it's ok but I am tired of my torta being skimped. Lol. We frequent here quite often since we pass by going home from work everyday, it's a easy quick dinner on long days. But the last 3 times I've gotten the torta it has one slice of meat. I've gotten a torta here like 5 times and the first times it was great good portion and flavors. But now literally 3 times in a row it's just bread and lettuce.... And this time (yesterday) the bread was even hard/stale. I'll be giving this place a break hopefully next time we try it they improve the portions back to how they were originally. read more

I don't know why this place is getting so much hate. Is there better Mexican food in Galt? Yes. But the niche they try to serve here is not to compete with those. The place is very clean, great salsa selection, daily specials are affordable and sometimes cheap. I mean $10 for carne asada fries? Where else can you get that in Galt? I can't speak for all the food items but the carne asada fries (you can change the meat), nachos, tacos, breakfast burritos, and taquitos, were all delicious. I've tried the asada and carnitas, both were great. I've never waited to order more than a minute or two and usually by the time I get my chips and salsa ready the food is on its way out within a few more minutes. Nothing here is spicy, which is nice. Because a lot of the taquerias here are too spicy for a gringo like myself. A lot of the other places in town will make you regret not asking if there's any hot sauce on the food before you ordered. Never thought I'd miss the Burger King that used to be here. I got the chicken enchiladas combo. Sauce is canned and has so much salt you could brine raw chicken for years. The chicken texture was like chewy knuckles. The beans had so much lard they were translucent. The prices are ridiculous and I don't know how the small chain survives. Every day there is a combination plate that is only 12.50 and you get a drink too and salsas. This deal is literally so good, I have been going all the time because the deal combo changes each week. The Combo plate can feed two people they give you a lot. I really recommend this Galt location and they are open early & close late. read more

Went there late night spend $60 The fish Tacos were burnt we get home and they forgot my husband's burrito that came out to $20 added chicken and shrimp that we had to dig around for as Restaurant owners ourselves we make every order right if we get it wrong PRRIOD!!!! these people were not sorry at all! This is my new favorite spot in Galt. I'm a sucker for some good taquitos (rolled tacos) and this place makes some yummy ones! At the recommendation of a friend I tried the Chicken Fajitas plate and these were delicious! The restaurant itself is really outdated. It still looks like the crummy BK it used to be. Staff is usually friendly. Especially the young ladies who usually work the counter. Been here a few times and have never had to wait long. I love that their breakfast burritos are served all day and their variety of salsa is pretty good too (get the dark red salsa if you like spice, the regular red salsa is mild and bland.) The first time I went to California burrito it was very good, I went back for the same thing and there's no consistency to who's ever cooking the food. It was horrible. Decided to try it again last night ordered a chili Riano with beans and rice $18. OK great my friend ordered a beef enchilada. They said well you have to get two OK all good then they tried to charge us $58 for one chili Riano with beans and rice and two enchiladas à la carte that's not the price. That was on the menu for one thing anyway when we got back to our hotel, it was horrible. And I'll never go back there. Their prices are too high and they try to charge you more than what it even says on the menu and the food is disgusting so if anybody goes there, look at the prices because they're jacking it up over $20 more than what it says on the menus read more

Where do i begin. This was my 2nd visit to this location and there were no customers inside the building. I observed two cars in the drive-thru and proceeded to walk into the restaurant. I stood in line for approximately five minutes waiting for someone to take my order. I noticed two younger female employees present and one male cook. The female employees looked over in my direction and appeared to intentionally not want to wait on me. I noticed a bell ringer and it said to ring for service. I continued to wait thinking maybe they are busy with the customers waiting for their food in the drive-thru. A few minutes later one of the female employees approached the counter and took my order. I repeated the order twice to ensure she understood me and the order would be correct. I waited for my food to be prepared and glanced at my receipt to notice she made an error. I brought this to their attention and she said something to the cook preparing the food. i continued to wait and a customer walked in and I noticed they ignored her also. She continued to wait and I almost wanted to instruct her to ring the bell for service, but declined to do so. After several minutes one of the girls took her order. The female customer looked over at me and I could tell she wasn't extremely pleased with the service she was receiving. I just sort of shrugged at her and tried to mind my own business. I later noticed one of the girls carry my order to the counter and just leave the food sitting there. Both female employees did not call out my order number and just ignored me. I quietly picked up my food and proceeded to exit the restaurant. I looked over at the female customer and said to her "Good luck, with the service ". *Food rating I give it a meh.
